Scandal {skan-dl} an action or event regarded as morally or legally wrong causing general public outcry or outrage. We live in a society where there are scandals in Government, Corporate America, family and even amongst friends. But what happens when scandal takes place in your church, and leaders that you hold in high esteem are morally corrupt? Enter the world of Bishop Gregory Fortune, a prominent Pentecostal preacher, father, and husband of almost thirty years. He has two children by the love of his life, Sheila. Though not a complicated man, he has big dreams to grow his ministry to a level of greatness. Then, unexpectedly, his simple life is instantly upgraded when a rare beauty walks into the doors of his small sanctuary. From the onset, an educated Nadira Horton is a quiet spirit, yet she has the aura of a thoroughbred boss that Greg recognizes almost immediately. Hungry for success, Nadira takes the bull by the horns and sets her business plan into action. At her direction, Gregory's lofty dream of having a massive ministry materializes, and Sheila basks in the glory of their success without having put in any actual work of her own. Suddenly, Nadira finds herself in love with Gregory, who has also fallen hard for her. All the while, Nadira's best friend Myka is caught up in her own scandal. Dreadful secrets force her picture perfect marriage to fade in the most horrendous way imaginable. The old saying, 'If the head isn't right the body isn't either, ' reigns true in this congregation. Exceeding Faith Ministries and its members are all experiencing scandal while occupying the pews. Who will be the one to remove their white gloves, slide into their gladiator suit, and clean up the mess that their choices have left behind?
4.5 Wow! This was a good 1st read by this author. I honestly felt bad for 1st Lady Sheila & the issues she dealt with & faced. Myka & Isha also carried heavy loads. Gees & Smooth had a lot to contend with...Storyline held my attention as I completed this book in a few hours & has me ready to read Sheila's side of the story.
Wow talk about a scandal in the pews!! This book was awesome!! Fast paste Great story line!! You never know what's going on behind the scences!! Of a congregation!!
I do not leave nasty reviews, so hopefully this author will read take this as a constructive review. Story was pretty good, a lot of "scandal" also a lot of errors as well. It definitely needs to be re-edited. Words that definitely should not have been missed by spell check or an editor. Story also was fulllll of label dropping. I get it..., she/they were rich, good careers, but reading evvvvvvery single detail of head to toe outfits was excessive. Even the perfume and cologne was overkill. This is not to say it's a bad book, but there are plenty ways to describe fashion and fragrance without overkill of labels. As for the drama, I'm glad that made for a quick page turner, however with the last 20% or so, the drama seemed to be crammed in, like the author was tired of writing. The cramming made me think it was about to be a standalone, but I see its two more books. I am still going to grab part two and hope it's edited better.
Scandal In The Pews was thought provoking and mesmerizing from page one until the very last page. This novel took me to places no book has ever taken me before. The storyline and the structure of the book was well put together.
The characters had so many levels that I felt all the pain happiness that they were feeling in this novel. As i read this each page the characters came to life more and more. If you are a reader that likes a roller coaster ride as you read I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series.
It was an amazing book. This book shows that doesn't matter if you are First lady or nobody whats done in the dark will one day come back to haunt you. Bishop Gregory wife Shelia lie for years yet it comes out when Issac fell in love with organist Trent Shelia husband who get HIV past it to wife, who get a gun went to the hospital where all the secret and lies comes out. Want to know more please read this book it's a good one. Love it . Good read Tracey T. Cooper going next in the series
This was my first time readings book by this author and it was just okay for me. It took entirely too long for the drama to get started. The switching between characters and their points of view was happening too abruptly, messing up the flow of the story and making it hard to really get familiar with the characters. The storyline was decent and had lots of potential. I will be reading part two just to see how everything plays out.
This my first time reading this author's book's. I must say it was an interesting read. The book had my attention right from the very beginning and through to the end. It goes to show there are some wolves in sheep's clothing in churches and on the down low men who want the best of both worlds men and women. I am ready to read the next book in the series. Cassandra H.
Who am I to judge but I just don't understand how a preacher can think nothing but sorrow can come his way especially after God sends warning after warning on adultery? And for any woman to think she can take another woman's husband and not reap what she sows is beyond me. I'm moving in to book 2 to see the fallout.
All kinds of sin in thin this book from the first page. Dira, Isha, and Myka are best friends but have more in common than they think. The people around them are connected in scandal that can make a person loose their mind. Gotta read the next installment to get more history on this connection of sin.
Shocking story, but this is life and no human is without faults.
This is not to say I agreed with Gregory's actions because he set the tone for their behaviors. You cannot be preaching from the pulpit and sinning behind the same. However, I thought the writing was great and look forward to reading the next part of this intriguing story.
There was definitely a scandal in the pews. I have to add this book to my must read list. I loved it. All the twist & turns had me on edge the entire time. I’m still in my feelings about Shelia. I hope my girl gets her happy ending.
I was raised in the church and I'm old enough to know that people do wrong, church folk or not, but these people were nutz!! But I did like the drama, it kept me not wanting to put the book down!
This book was interesting. It just goes to show you that people will cast judgment when they shouldn't and that people in church have sinned or are sinning.
Geesh this was actually really good, talk about about pure drake in the church. I loved all the twist and turn throughout the entire story, and what went down with Trent and Myka was a mess and I wish mean like him would just tell their partners the truth instead causing them hurt at the end. I enjoyed Nadira character she's bluntly honest, hood and professional all at the same time. Which I could understand why Gees would be attached to her and she loved him with every fiber of her being because of his honesty. Since I see there may be a part 2 I would really like to see more of Indiya, Isha, and especially Myka's journey. Good Work!!!!
This book had so many twists and turns! Misunderstanding can cause people to do crazy things....things they cannot take back. There are moments in the story where you will find yourself loving each character one minute, sympathizing with them another minute, and wanting to throat punch them the next. Be ready for a rollercoaster ride as the characters are intertwined together. However it is beyond their recognition.
This book was truly something else!!! it was a good book yet a true love story butttttt for the Man of the cloth to be acting in the manner that he was ummmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!
There was truly a lot of scandalous misbehaving going on throughout this here book!!!!!
This was a well written novel with lots of action. So many lives were intertwined. The phrase "hurt people, hurt people comes to mind. However, it was an entertaining read and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what lies next in Part II. This is definitely one to read.
Overall a pretty good read. It was just as I expected. Girl falls in love with church elder whose married but there were some unexpected twists and it made for a tale of love, list and forgiveness.
Good read... a few too many "explicit" scenes with the Bishop and timelines a little unrealistic, but story line keeps you interested up to the dramatic ending.
