Rate this book
Explore the mysterious past of Long Island and learn about the spirits that haunt the historic American island.
Take a ghostly journey through Long Island's history, from Native American legends and beyond. Ghosts lurk at the Execution Rocks Lighthouse, where Revolutionary War Patriots were brutally tortured and killed by the British during the Battle of Long Island. Popular gathering places have otherworldly tenants, including Bayport's Grey Horse Tavern and the Cutchogue Village Green, where several old buildings - and their former inhabitants - are preserved. Long Island's history is unearthed and preserved through its ghost stories and spirits that have made their presence known. Through extensive research, interviews and investigations, award-winning author and historian Kerriann Flanagan Brosky, alongside medium and paranormal investigator Joe Giaquinto, uncovers Long Island's eerie history.

This was a very fast and informative read. I grew up on Long Island so I knew alot of the locations and was surprised that some in here were deemed spiritual or haunted.

The author does a great job of going into each locations history. That was the best part of the book. Long island is very historic. Native American history and lore aplenty! Plus, lots of American revolution battles and scenes took place on Long Island as well. Basically Long island has over 400 years of documented history and the author does a great job with this.

Some fun locations I enjoyed reading were the authors family home in Elmont (probably the creepiest story here and gave me goosebumps), old Bethpage historic village, sweet hollow road, Katie's bar, grey horse tavern, lighthouse at execution rocks and OHEEKA castle.

The only parts I didn't like was actually the authors partner , Joe. Didn't care for his EVP talks or his medium conversations. If the author just stuck to historic research and the interviews that were conducted then this would have been higher than 3 stars.

Every October I try to read as many paranormal books as time will allow. I saw this book and recognized the authors name as some one my uncle knew and had spoken too in the past. I felt it was a good time to buy this book and read it before halloween. The book is an easy fast read and very historical but also creepy enough for an October read. I enjoyed it!

Fun book on some historic areas of Long Island. Wasn't really as spooky or narratively driven as I would have liked, but I did pick up some cool information about some of the historical significance of the Island. Fast read.

My favorite story was on Montauk Manor and the princess of the Montaukket tribe and her... red wedding!

This book is part of the Haunted America series that I have been trying to read through. It was fairly short, just about 200 pages. It was great to read while sitting in the school pick up line, as I could read one or two of the chapters while sitting there. These books aren't overly good, but I do enjoy a ghost story and I love the mini history lesson about the locations mentioned in the book. I wouldn't pay the asking price for this book on Amazon, but it was free to read with the Kindle Unlimited subscription. I look forward to reading the rest of the ones that are available on Kindle Unlimited.

Absolute nonsense. Says nothing that would convince anyone that anything happened. Very repetitive. No proof was presented at all.
