Rate this book
The Weapon X Program continues to use the powers and abilities of mutants as military weapons - forcing them to destroy their own kind - to achieve the Director's dream of making the world a safe place for human beings. Weapon X's newest project, code-name Neverland, is now coming to light. Hundreds of mutants throughout the country have been rounded up and brought to a secret location to be contained. Some of these mutants have powers to be exploited against mutants for humankind, while others are of no use to Weapon X and are eliminated. An underground mutant organization created to oppose the Weapon X Program has surfaced, brought together by none other than Cable. Is this team of mutants powerful enough to take on Weapon X and shut down Neverland? This book collects: Weapon X #s 6-13

After the shocking reveal at the end of volume 1, we're introduced to the 'good guys' - AKA 'The Underground' featuring Cable, Domino, Boomer, Maverick etc... but in a brilliantly written arc, nothing is what it seems and after countless planning, scheming and manipulations the result is far from your usual Marvel comics fare! To find out what, read this! :) A solid Four Star 8 out of 12 from me.

I didn't enjoy this volume quite as much as the first, but it was still a good read. As I said in the review of Volume 1, I feel like this series is taking many of the underutilized X-Men characters and tried to use them to their potential. This comes across as more of a political thriller than anything else, but it works as something different. In this volume, Cable shows up with his "underground" to take out Weapon X, and things end with the return of a very familiar X-Men villain (who had actually been there all along!)

Cable and X-Force serve as the titular "Underground" during this story arc; where they attempt to expose and destroy Weapon X. They succeed in instigating a regime change, however "as some things change, the more they change the same". We find out that Neverland is still operational and that the new regimen ultimately answers to Mr. Sinister.

2nd volume of Weapon X series (entirely different from Weapon X stand along graphic novel, this doesn't have a lot to do with Wolverine). Great condition. $5.
