I realized that I haven’t been documenting my daughter’s selections from her elementary school library, which are mostly what she calls “fact books,” so here we go…This is a nice introductory book about snow, which was exceptionally appropriate for reading during the long harsh Iowa winter of early 2019. Plus I learned something that I didn’t know – snow is a crystal, which basically means that it has a symmetrical shape. So that’s what distinguishes it from ice, I guess…

This was a great book. It has beautiful photos and short sentences to describe how snow is created. I could see using this book for part of a story time in the winter. Children are curious about how things like snow come to be, and this book explains it in simple terms for them.
