Revised Edition A much improved version of the original, more compassionately and tastefully written, with even more helpful information. Inspired by true stories, Cherry Lane is an enlightening experience into, and out of, the realm of sexual abuse. Yes, it is a gripping tale of tragedy. But much more importantly, it was also written to help us find the path (the way) to healing, and to happiness as well. It is a journey of discovery. And as part of that, you may find this book as a must-read for relationships, a need-to-know for parenting, and the essentials of simply learning to deal with life. But even more than all of that, you may also find it to be a marvelously wonderful and spiritually edifying story that offers us something which all of us very much need - hope; and help and understanding in terms of people, relationships, and love; and maybe even the meaning of life itself.
How do we choose to deal with life? Do we choose to live out each day by reacting out of anger or do we decide to act upon with confidence and guidance?
Cherry Lane is a book that will reach us and tingles our emotions. I have been venturing the journey of Sarah, and it felt like a long ride and I am grateful that it has come to an end. The amount of details that the author had made in this story is superb, it really sparks emotions and makes the book more relatable and close to us. Truly, whether we had a wonderful present life or a traumatic past, we all have the chance to grow something out of it. We can suffer, and live with closed hearts or we can let ourselves reach out for help and heal. This is such a both calming and wonderful journey. It all was wrapped perfectly into a splendid ending and all of the knots were tied perfectly. A highly recommended read!
This isn't a perfect book, but it's very strong and will definitely stay with me. In a world full of books that often feel very similar to other stories, this is a true original.
Michael Stephen had given us a different take on love and healing. Personally, this subject is heavy for me and might be traumatic to some, but the author has made it more helpful and focuses on growth and the healing side which I find interesting. This helps us a lot to handle things that haunt us and we continue to remember that hinders our healing. I love how Stephen had made it not so hard to be in place and to be with the character. I am happy that someone had the courage to speak about this. I believe it is really important that we should be able to be open and face our traumas for us to foster growth and development. A must-read!
Sharp and intelligent. Cherry Lane captured me from the beginning and held me to the end. This book is filled with small nuggets of wisdom that play over and over in my brain.
Although this isn't quite lengthy, I can feel how heavy and impactful this is to people especially those who are like Sarah. It tackles suffering and trauma, how it leads to pain until faith gives light to it and we find hope in the end. I love how the author made the book something we should all be well-informed about, how we establish social relationships, how we give time to our scars to heal, and most of all how we find our path to God for our complete healing and restoration. I could not put this down the moment I started on page one. This is a story worthy of time to read and worthy of sharing with others. Kudos to the author and to the whole team.
This is a growing book; we grow with it both in age and maturity. From our childhood to our legal responsibilities, this book has given us an overview of what our life may offer us in the following years to come in the life of Sarah. I love how Sarah is raised, from how innocent she is to desiring what kids normally want to, saying her prayers every night, and then all of the sudden, that happened (you need to read this book to find out what really happened).
It really pains me reading the scene, it is so painful but the anger has dominated and so I managed to continue reading to overcome that horrible act and scream for justice. This is not just for me... this is for all the people who need to know that this is reality, and we need to make our voices even louder for those voiceless.
With a lot of chaos happening in our world, we had a lot of doubts and questions. Sometimes the pain and the suffering that we experience, make us distant from people and away from hope and faith and that is okay. This book has taught me life --- pain, faith, and love and I am very grateful that I have come across this book. Reading this book has given me an assurance that all our pain and the battles that we are fighting, will all pass and will make us stronger and braver. This book is really thought-provoking, Stephen did not disappoint in giving us a masterpiece we can all cling to in times of both ups and downs in our lives.
If you haven't read it, I encouraged you to read this. If you have read it already, read it again.
This book had gripped me from the cover until the last page. This gives us a deeper understanding of pain, forgiveness, and especially unending love. This serves as a hope for people experiencing child abuse or any kind of abuse. This will make them feel that in the battle, they are not alone, and they will one day, lead to the healing process one tear at a time. Even for people who did not go through that specific phase, this will give light to them to be able to understand their friends and families and be with them in the process. A compelling and truly inspirational story from Michael Stephen. This is a book I would recommend to everyone. I am very grateful to have found this book, a book worthy to remember.
How do we value a book we read? What makes us feel that this is an excellent one? Is it The story? Maybe it's the writing? Perhaps the connection between us and the book?
This follows the story of a young girl being sexually abused at a young age, and how she battles it growing up. This is not just about her journey, this is for all of us who are struggling to find hope in the darkest times, and how we can be saved by the people around us being there for us. Even if you are not in those situations, this is also an eye-opener to be able to be in their shoes and understand what they are going through. This way, we can treat them with care and be open-minded about their experiences. A book that I will definitely share, to share information and knowledge and to raise awareness.
Cherry Lane had given me a perspective of how life is like living with a sad past that haunts the future days of our life. This is an interesting take on growing with such experience, and how to foster growth and development. We had explored the legal paths and had also been informed on facts about abuse and how to reach out to people who have the same encounter.
Overall, an impactful story by Michael Stephen. I learned that in order for growth to progress, you should be surrounded by a healthy environment. A progressive story, compelling and it leaves us with such significant insights into life. I love everything about it. This is a book everyone should read, definitely worth every moment and spent reading.
The second I have read the preface of this book I know that I will love it till the end.
Michael Stephen gave me all the emotions mixed up. I was saddened and worried, I felt anger and disappointment, and I got hopeful and inspired. Even though I did not have the same childhood as Sarah, her growth really inspired me and moved me in a way I did not expect. The author had made it a light read, I did not have a difficult time reading and understanding the plot.
The author had made a masterpiece that gets us thinking for days. This has taught me that childhood is more of a learning experience than it is a trauma. We could all heal when we are able to know how to reach for help from people for us to overcome it and grow.
This is a book so close to my heart. We all have been a victim of abuse, may it be physical, verbal, or sexual abuse and we can attest how that may hinder us from sleeping in the night and even have hope for us. What could have happened if the abuse happened to an innocent girl?
We are given a view of how a young girl suffers, and how her environment had contributed to her path to healing and growing with faith. I am very grateful to have been educated about the legal definitions, signs, as well as the cause and effect of abuse. This should be taught to other people for them to be aware of when this kind of scenario happens.
Being able to be educated and given the right amount of information about abuse, we are able to understand more people and may also be one of those who will bravely stand up for the voiceless. The book is really genuine and pure, it hits straight to my emotions. The descriptive writing, the way the characters are built and developed over time are just brilliant works of art. Michael Stephen had successfully let us venture into his creative and strong mind.
I am so glad I picked up this book and explored the life of Sarah. It has affected me more than I have imagined it would be. This is a book one should probably have on their reading list!
