The Devil's Science

Rate this book
Almost forty years ago we launched the "Voyager Space Probe". It was a feat of human ingenuity. The craft explored the outer planets, sending back information and images to expand our knowledge of this universe. When its mission was complete, Voyager left our solar system for interstellar space. Although we stayed in contact with it, we felt its mission was over....but we were wrong. The moment it left our solar system it was detected by an alien race who were unaware of our location. With intelligence and technology centuries beyond ours, we would stand no chance against this enemy. Our only hope would be to wield a force beyond that of science and man. But what will be the ultimate cost of using such a power? Technology vs. Magic - Winner gets Earth.

Interesting but Repetitive

It's an interesting concept, but the execution seems rushed and repetitive. We hear the same phrases, introductions and descriptions over and over again.

Well, you guys and gals have probably seen the commercial a while ago about a shaver giving such a good shave that the guy bought the company ("I bought the company" TV commercial).

This book was just as good, so instead of buying the company (its not likely for sale), I bought the option to make it into an audiobook. The fellow Star Trek fans who read the book will certainly see Q as the Devil, in all his q-ness and attitude - I especially enjoyed that and knowing that this book actively engages the reader, and especially the Star Trek fans, I made my move.

I gave this book to a reader (who screens my projects) and he came back with a fantastic review of story structure and characters. I began to read it myself thinking of it as some light airplane reading, but that was my mistake, I landed and only finished a portion of the book so I ended up reading a lot of it at my destination, and time I reboarded the plane for my return to trip home, I was on the last couple of chapters - fittingly, I started and finished this book over 30,000 feet above the planet surface.

Soon we will began casting the voices for the audiobook to play medium and small sized parts. Sorry, the Devil role is going to John DeLancie. Check out the official website to stay in the loop about everything The Devil's Science - you'll be glad you did!

Wonderful Novel that I would recommend to anyone. Don't want to give away plot details but this is one of the most unique stories I have ever read. The Author did his homework on the subject matter. I define a great book by its ability to keep you interested from beginning to end. This does that and then some. Finally, what an ending !!! Talk about a Cliff Hangar. I could not sleep the night I finished it. Just a side note: My cousin hates to read - he is 17. I told him to read just the first 3 short chapters. He did, and ended up finishing the whole book in 5 days. The only Book he has ever read cover to cover. Just a small example of how this Novel draws you in and holds you. My cousin and I have only one question? When is part 2 being released?

I loved it. A mix of my two favorite genres - Science Fiction and Horror. Best description is Addicting. You truly need to know what will happen next. I normally read slowly, but that was not possible with this story. I also easily lose interest if things get slow. Not happening here. This Book is non-stop action and adventure from the very first chapter.

Loved it. Has a bit of everything, funny, scary and tons of adventure. I love a book that makes you think and wonder about the unknown. Well written and easy to read. Short chapters that make you want to read the next one. Looking forward to the second part of the Trilogy.

Interesting idea; clunky delivery

The premise appears to be connected to an existing storyline that has been developed into a fanfic by the author. Any reader unfamiliar with the existing content will be left in the dark about its origins, as Hemms makes no effort to bring the reader along.

The idea is interesting 🤔, but movements, locations, descriptions, and settings lack details. The primary character is an overly emotional, sex-starved, deeply closeted gay man whose personal narrative is easily confused for the author's.

Semi-interesting story that would benefit from the attention of a good editor.
