The newest book from best-selling (10 #1 books on Amazon) author Dan Purser MD.
Learn how most of the US population carries the gene for this mysterious disorder – MTHFR -- and up to 15% actually have the disease – they have methylation problems, folate deficiency, and lack of methylfolate in their diet and it’s killing them, and possibly you. (Folic acid is toxic to you and the right folate, the safe folate -- natural methylfolate -- is necessary.)
Learn about the meaning of MTHFR Heterozygous, C677T, MTHFR Homozygous, A1298C, folate depression, as you find out how to use a MTHFR Protocol for each disease, use natural folate, methylfolate dosage, MTHFR vitamins, and how to diagnose or figure out if you have MTHFR disease, giving you AMAZING relief in this UNIQUE MTHFR Book by famous medical author, Dan Purser MD.

I (www.danpursermd.com), graduated way back when from Brigham Young University and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, and after years of research I got lucky and somehow became the bestselling author of 10 books, including co-writing a textbook, Program120: A Physician’s Guide to Proactive Preventive Medicine, and the Program 120 Handbooks. His men’s health book, Improving Male Sexuality, Fertility and Testosterone, was #1 in the Amazon Health Sex section for more than a week and his breast cancer book, The Breast Cancer Patient’s Survival Guide: Amazing Strategies for Winning, was #1 in the Amazon Health Reference section. Wow, even my most recent best seller -- The 85% Solution: MTHFR is Overpowering Our Medical System -- Chances Are You Have It Too… was the in the Amazon !op 100 and was the bestselling Medical or Healthcare book on Amazon in July and part of August 2016. Cool!
I try to be an entertaining and dynamic educator and speaker (I’ve never NOT been voted as The Most Popular Speaker at any conference at which I’ve spoken) and I seem to be popular among both the public and physicians, and have gotten to travel a million miles doing book, radio, and product tours all over the world.
I’m also the founder of a couple of successful health product design companies through which he makes a number of products for nutraceutical companies. I’m also a BIG fan of Disneyland and Disney World where you can probably find me in with my wife and some of our 10 children. products for nutraceutical companies. He is also a BIG fan of Disneyland and Disney World where you can probably find him in his off time with his wife and some of their 10 children.
I'm honestly baffled at this book's having so many 5-star reviews. It is RIDDLED with contradictions and factual errors, and large chunks of the book are "borrowed" from other sources. (They're credited, but still...we're talking entire chapters.) In some chapters, folic acid is recommended; in others, it's recommended AGAINST. It's unclear whether this is the result of numerous typographical errors ("folic acid" where it should say "folinic acid") or simple contradiction because the information is cobbled together from so many sources. A low-methionine diet is recommended, and then several chapters later the reader is told at length that low methionine is a common problem. Most of the "avoid" foods in the diet chapter have no explanation offered for why, specifically, they would be contraindicated for those with MTHFR polymorphisms. The sections on over- and under-methylation are a little difficult to follow, but it would appear he may use the terms in an opposite manner from what most others do, which is extremely confusing.
Factual errors and mislabeling abound. For example, "Don't forget to add... B6 (25 mg -- in the form of hydroxycobalamin)..." (pg. 94). Hydroxycobalamin is not B6; it's B12. "If your Whole Blood Histamine is less than > 25-40...you should avoid and take folate." (pg. 93) That isn't a "less than" sign; it's a "greater than" sign, and "avoid and take folate" doesn't even make sense. (I assume there's another substance that should be listed in the sentence.) "Even if you are Heterozygous (have both the A1298C and the C677T)..." (pg. 143) This is COMPOUND heterozygous -- an important distinction from simply "heterozygous."
The book even says, "Research does not support the belief that having this gene polymorphism means these people have poor folic acid metabolism"! (pg. 41) If the author doesn't believe MTHFR causes the issues it's believed to cause, then why write the book? (This line is, fortunately, contradicted in other portions of the book.)
With so many contradictions and errors, it is difficult to trust any of the information provided. How does the reader know that a detail with which he is not familiar is not erroneous, as well? I would particularly recommend against this book for newbies to MTHFR, as it's both misleading and abundantly confusing.
Having said all that, if you're willing to do some research on your own, there is some benefit to be had from this book. It can bring up new information/points you weren't aware of, that are a good starting point for independent research (to verify the veracity of the claims). I'm not sorry I read it. But I wouldn't recommend it for most readers.
I quit this book. It reads like a combination of an infomercial and a self brag of the MD that wrote it. The information in it can probably be obtained in easier to digest nuggets via Google.
When I first read this I didn't know that I had MTHFR mutated gene. Once I found that I had the mutated gene I went back and read over other parts to understand them more clearly.
I particularly paid attention to the section of THINGS TO AVOID WHEN YOU HAVE MTHFR with Folic Acid and Cyanocobalamin the top two. And both were in my daily vitamin that I was taking--good to know! Now I know that I can only have the natural form of folic acid, natural folate. It also explained why I got so sick when taking birth control pills as well!
My guess is that this book is good, but as science continues to improve that there will be a book that is even more clear and has more information. But, as it is for now this book talks to the patient and for that I love the book!
This was very easy to understand and much needed explanation of my mthfr 677 homogenous defect. It also covers some info on my COMT and MAO defects as well. Short and not overwhelming it gives valuable information and gets you going in the right direction. The only thing is he keeps recommending methylcobalamin supplementation but with having both of my COMT defects and VDR/FOK methylcobalamin b vitamins are the worst form and shouldn't take them at all. I stick with adenosylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin as recommended by Dr. So be careful.
Do not read. This book was awful, poorly written, confusing, and conceited. When you read the forward you get a sense that the author is full of himself. When he mentions working with your own doctor, the gender of the doctor is always assumed male. The title of the book comes from the statistics for fair-haired, blue-eyed people so it's apparently just for white people.
Most importantly, throughout the book the advice is in direct conflict with itself only a few pages later. Find another source of information about your gene mutation. I know I will.
This book was recommended through my essential oil company. I highly regard Dr.Purser and believe strongly he is not in it for the money. He goes really in depth in this book but it is very reader friendly and I could understand most of it.
This book seems like it should be helpful but is written like a doctor is reading it. I need something that simplifies mthfr Gene mutations and this book does NOT do that. Very frustrating.
This is the first time I've ever read a book by t author and he's very intriguing. His research makes a lot of sense and I am going to give it a shot. All I have to lose is to feel better. Worth the gamble.
