Julie Evans’ calm life is thrown a curve ball when her brother arrives the night before his seven-month deployment asking her to take care of his son. As a preschool teacher, she’s used to dealing with toddlers, not nine-year-olds. Noting her nephew’s interest in baseball, Julie signs him up for little league. She’s anything but thrilled to find out that his coach is a celebrity.
Eric Gibson returned to St Marys to lick his wounds and start over. But even in his hometown, he’s known more for his unfortunate appearance on a reality dating show than for his seven years in the major leagues. All he has to show for that poor decision is an ex-wife and a broken heart.
Julie’s obvious disapproval makes her the perfect choice for his team mom. If she doesn’t like him, she won’t cause any problems. But will that be enough to keep his growing interest in her in check? And as Julie’s preconceived notions about sports figures slowly unravel, will she be able to resist the man behind the public persona?
I'm a Georgia girl at heart if not by birth. I love to read, watch college football, and spend time with my husband. I'm a hopeless romantic so there will always be a happily ever after in my stories. I also like to write about second chances because love doesn't always work out the first time.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book, I didn’t really know going into it what I would get but what I found was very likable characters. Julie takes on a parenting role of her nephew who is 9 because her brother gets deployed. It really isn’t a book about that it is more about the struggles of raising a child who isn’t hers and connecting with him. She signs him up for baseball knowing he likes it and she becomes the Team mom hence the name and the coach well he isn’t too shabby.
I really like the connection and the friendship Julie and Eric strike up. I was invested and happy when things when my way. I really enjoyed the writing and though this is more on the cleaner side of romance it really did hold my interest and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything intimacy. I would 100% read more books by this author and by the narrator I think she too did a great job giving each character their own voice without overdoing it.
This did not work for me. The writing nor the characters grabbed me. The writing was flat and did not flow. The entire story felt scripted without emotions. The characters were going through predictable emotions and situations. Nothing made these characters unique or interesting. There was just nothing.
You may love it, but it did not work for me. I was excited to read this since I loved the premise and I wanted a clean romance. It was a disappointment.
This is one of those books that you pick up and can't put down until it's finished and then you're saying to your self it was to short. The characters are well developed and feel real. The follow is off in a few spots, and their are a few errors, but over all this is an awesome read and Yes I'll be reading the rest of the series.
Team Mom is a sweet, engaging contemporary romance that blends humor, heart, and small-town charm. Delaney Cameron introduces readers to Julie Evans, a practical and relatable protagonist whose life is turned upside down when she is asked to care for her nephew and, unexpectedly, become the “team mom” for his little league baseball team.
The story shines in its character dynamics. Julie’s initial skepticism and sharp wit create plenty of humorous tension with Eric Gibson, the charming but misunderstood former professional baseball player. Eric’s journey from a reality-show notoriety to a man seeking a fresh start is compelling and adds emotional depth beyond the romantic storyline. Their slow-burn chemistry, built on shared responsibilities and moments of vulnerability, keeps readers invested in their evolving relationship.
Cameron also does a great job of portraying family, community, and the challenges of balancing personal expectations with unexpected responsibilities. The narrative is light, fun, and emotionally satisfying, with just enough romantic tension to keep the pages turning.
Overall, Team Mom is a delightful start to the Finding Love series perfect for fans of small-town romance, charming second-chance love stories, and relatable, heartwarming characters.
This was a really enjoyable story. The premise was fun, & I enjoyed the flirty romance that developed between Eric and Julie.
Eric is one of those people who is very open - what you see is what you get - so people who use others or backstab are pretty foreign to those of us who don't operate that way, & we typically end up learning by painful experience. Eric's lesson is particularly painful, but when he meets Julie, she catches his eye and eventually his interest - finally someone who's open and authentic, too. And attractive and sweet... Their path to true love isn't smooth, but it's not super angsty, either - it's just right!
This book begins the Finding Love series which is one of my all-time favorites, and introduces the community from which the others' stories are written. Each book is even better than the one before it! I'm so excited that they're now being produced as audiobooks!
Team Mom is book one in the Finding Love series by Delaney Cameron. This is a delightfully, sweet romance. I loved the development of the story. Famous but fallen baseball star Eric Gibson is coaching a little league team. Julie Evan’s is caring for her nephew Jordan when she meets the handsome coach. Is Eric the wonderful person he appears to be or is it all a lie? I enjoyed the way Cameron moved her characters through the story; pushing them to seek the truth in each other. “Something in the way he was looking at her told Julie what was going to happen. He’s finally going to kiss me, and I’m not even wearing makeup. That was her last coherent thought before his mouth began to move over hers. His lips tasted of mint and felt cool and firm against the softness of hers. A curious weakness invaded her legs and traveled slowly up her body.” I loved it! It is short enough to read in one evening. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
**Audiobook review ** Fantastic story!! Little league baseball, romance, adorable nephew and add in a devilish brother just makes this sweet, clean romance swoon worthy! Isn't it just so great when you find one of those books that completely drags you in, makes you fall in love with the characters, and demands that you sit on the edge of your seat for every nail-biting moment of it? This is one of those books for me. I LOVED everything about this book; the banter that literally had my LOL’ing while reading, the sweet swoon-worthy moments and the heartbreak & humiliation that Eric had to endure thanks to his ex-wife. I wanted to reach thru the book & slap her. This was my first book by Delaney Cameron. Vicki Pierce does a phenomenal job, as usual, narrating. Listen or read this book. You won’t be disappointed.
I loved this book. I loved th characters and storyline. Julie is taking care of Jordan, her brothers son, while he is in Iraq. She signs Jordan up for baseball and meets his Coach who used to be a big league baseball player. Julie is talked into being the team mom. Her and Eric fall in love.
I loved the progression of the story- sweet, innocent, and true love. I thought the ending was too quick! I would have loved to have read a section when Devon comes home and meets Eric. I will be reading more from Delaney Cameron.
I loved reading this book, the characters became friends in the first chapter. The story was uplifting and made one believe that friendship can lead to romance no matter the hurt you have experienced in a prior relationship. I gave this book 5 stars because once I started reading it the storyline grabbed me and held me until I finished it. I would gladly tell everyone that this was an enjoyable read that Ms. Cameron wrote and I am anxious to read the rest of her books
“Team Mom” by Delaney Cameron I do love a sweet clean romance… I started reading this audiobook and somehow got sidetracked about half way through… So, I started over again from the beginning and I am glad I did. I picked up on some things I think I missed the first time. It was good witnessing Julie and Eric grow into even better people because of each other. Don’t waste your life/time lamenting the past. Learn from your past and use what you have learned to grow your life into what will bring joy and happiness to you and those you hold close to your heart. Happy Reading ! !
I enjoy a story where the man sees what he wants and goes after it. I also liked that she was cautious at first and that it spurred him on to prove that he was a good person. Not at all who the media made him out to be.
Narration: 4.5 stars
I loved Ms. Pierce’s smooth southern drawl. It was very calming and a joy to listen to. My only complaint, and it’s a little one, is that strong emotions were read with just as calm and smooth a drawl. Still, I’d happily listen to her again!
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I didn't want this book to end! I enjoyed this story. I laughed so many times and then I would smile and sigh. I really like how Eric cared for all the kids on his team. I love the bond the him and Jordan have. I loved that they involved Jordon so much. It was fun to see Julie and Eric start to fall in love. I liked that Julie didn't fall head over hills for him even when she found out who he was. This was a good book that makes you smile. It's a fast read and I can't wait to read the next book
Julie was a single teacher who took on the care of her nephew when her brother had to return to the service after her wife left him. As a step mother to Julie’s nephew the sister-in-law decides she doesn’t want to be a wife or other. This is working out well until her nephew Jordan wants to play baseball and the coach turns out to be a very attractive and eligible famous ball player. They do not hit it off right away. However the interaction between them begins to grow into attraction and love.
TEAM..MOM Lakeside Park..Julie,with her nephew Jordan aged nine, wanting to play outfield. Her brother was being deployed and wanting her to watch him, how hard could that be. Then noticing the coach was a celebrity, she disapproved and now he wanted her to be a Team Mom. His thoughts he wouldn’t have another female wanting to know him for who he was. The narration was good by Vickie Pierce. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
This was a really good book! A young boy, staying with his Aunt because his Dad is deployed and his Mom died, finds himself wanting to be on the baseball team. So,said Aunt accompanies him to the practice and finds herself being team Mom,which has some responsibilities. The Coach,a former baseball star, finds her very attractive, and so it starts. They start out as friends, but ,you know how that goes.I really liked this book and hope you will too.
Eric and Julie are well developed characters. The progression of their relationship was just right. Because of Eric's past, Julie was not immediately impressed with him. As she got to know him she found he was nothing like the persona that was public "knowledge". This is a wonderful story with a great happily ever after.
This a wonderful story about a aunt taking in her nephew when her brother gets deployed & his step mom bails on them. Julie takes Jordan to his first little leave practice. Eric is a retired professional baseball p!ayer due to injury & is going to be coach. Julie is going to be team mom.is there a spark there.
What a loving person our heroine is in our story. She takes in her nephew because her brother is going into service for six months and she gives of herself to her nephew one hundred percent to his school work and baseball life. All this love and volunteering helps her find true love and a beautiful married life.
As the title stayed this was a sweet story. What happens when a baseball player married the one he met in a dating show? He gets humiliated by the greedy witch. What happens when a retired ball player become a coach to the nephew of his team mom? He has to confront his past to be able to woo her. And the normal ups and downs are there to keep me reading.
I really enjoy her writing style. More than that, I appreciate the kind of men she writes about. Men of integrity, honour, sensitivity, who care about others and do good with what they have. It is uplifting and encouraging to read of relationships like the one between these two main characters.
The writing is repetitive and confusing, the hero sometimes sound like a woman and it’s hard to remember this is a heterosexual relationship because of that, there’s a lot of inner monologue and sometimes feels like the story isn’t going anywhere. There’s a happy ending but there’s just one or two kisses and no sex.
He’s a former baseball star coaching the hometown team. He’s her nephew and she signed him up for the team. She becomes the Team Mom which means a lot of time with the coach
This story was a little cheesy with a few parts that seemed less natural and more contrived, but I appreciated the lack of angst and the sweet way the romance built. Pretty cute, and very clean.
To describe this book with one word......refreshing. I enjoyed the story filled with delightful characters and a loveable dog. I read a lot of romance novels and found more love and passion in this book without the sex written. I want to read more Delaney. I consider this book a definite re-read for me.
Erik is not looking for love. His divorce after marrying his wife from a TV matchmaking program left his shattered. But when he meets Julie, one of his players's aunt they feel an instant connection. Will they trust their feelings and give it a chance? Nice audibook
I was not sure what the book would be about but once it started I enjoyed it.
I am as rooting for Eric and dis liking Sidney. The narrator was good I would read more books by this author she was really good I liked her style of writing , she kept you interested at all times.
