Many churches, and many believers, long for a deeper, more whole-hearted Christian life. But what does that look like? James wrote his letter to show us.
This deeply practical book of the Bible shows us what genuine faith looks like. These six sessions will reveal to groups and individuals how to experience joy in hardships, patience in suffering, and whole-heartedness in how you speak, act and pray.
For use with groups or individuals. Leader's Guide included. Can be used alongside Sam's James For You expository guide.
Sam comes from Sevenoaks in Kent, but studied theology at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford, and has since worked at St Ebbe's Church, Oxford, and now serves at a church in Maidenhead. Hobbies include reading, watching The West Wing and anything to do with South-East Asia.
This is definitely one of the best group Bible studies I've ever used - and one of the very few where I'd be happy just using the questions as they are, rather than substantially rewriting it. The questions get quickly to the meaning of the passage, clarifying what is difficult, and generally do a good job of avoiding asking patronising 'what does it say' questions. They flow very naturally to application. That's easier with a book like James, of course, but they are still very good. James is hard-hitting, and it takes some skill to ask questions that don't just overwhelm.
