Supernatural Chronicles: The Wolves

Rate this book
For far too long, Sundae Grayson has lived under the tight control of her father and the wolf pack he leads. At twenty-two and with college degree in hand, she’s ready to embark on a journey of her own. But when her father is attacked and nearly killed, she finds a cryptic note in his pocket—a riddle she must solve to save him. Doing so means delaying the life she desires, but her father is worth it. Not to mention that if he dies, she becomes alpha, and she’s so not ready for that. Thank the Angels for Trevor, leader of his own pack and her lifelong crush, who volunteers to help her.

The riddle sends them on the hunt of their lives. After all, they must solve the mystery, find the relic they need, and deliver it on time to save not only their packs, but all of the Amadis, who serve as the Angels’ army on Earth. If they fail, the Demons will win over the world. But what must be sacrificed for the sake of the greater good?

This novella takes place in the internationally bestselling Soul Savers series by Kristie Cook, so be prepared to see some favorite characters. The story's timeline falls between Promise, Book 1, and Purpose, Book 2.

For those of us who have been reading the Soul Saver series by Kristie Cook, getting a new peek into that world is always a plus. Especially, when it’s coming from a unexpected location. I never gave much thought to the supporters to the Amadis but with the Dynamis in New Orleans series, Supernatural Chronicles: The Wolves my curiosity is peaked.

Sundae has been under the control of her father and her pack. Next in line to become the alpha, a position she doesn’t want, she is defying her pack and planning her escape. All that changes with a phone call and now she has to decide if her own desires are more important than saving the world.

I never gave much thought to those who were not in the center of Alexis and Tristian’s world. I just assumed their support were there because they choose to be there. I never realized that some their supporters go back to the beginning. That cryptic remark will make more sense after you read Genesis. Sundae is a long descendent from the first shifter in Alexis line. I completely get why she wants out for herself. It’s quite the burden she shoulders and just when she thinks she can escape her father is attacked. Now she has to rush save him, along the way she has to solve a riddle, and come to grips on what is more important.

Honestly, I just loved the duality of this book. The emotional and physically battles Sundae has to overcome to know what is expected of her. The action and mystery that needs to be solved to save the world. Throw in romance and this novella packs quite the punch and is a must read for all Soul Saver readers.

While I highly recommend anything written by Kristie Cook I do not recommend reading this book without having read Promise from her Soul Saver series first. There’s quite a bit of world building regarding the Amadis and the battle between good and evil that has happened in that series. Without out having previous knowledge may be confusing and some of the more important its will be missed. However, since both series are great, do make sure to read them all.

I received this book from the author for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

Well, in this short story we meet Sundae the next Alpha, btw loving the female Alpha. Love her attitude and sass! Like any young adult she wants to move out on her own, but her father doesn’t want her leaving the pack. Finding out her father has suffered a major injury and now she must try to save him, she isn’t leaving anytime soon. Although this story is short it is not short on suspense, I found myself holding my breath a few times. I LOVE Soul Savers and here we get a little reminder of them. I also enjoyed some of the humor in the end. Oh and ladies *sighs……. Trevor I call dibbs! lol. Any who…...although short it’s an awesome read! Loved every minute of it. MORE MORE MORE!!!!!

Having been ill all week, stuck at home watching bad daytime tv, this book is exactly what I needed.
Kirstie cook has done it again lost myself in a world of witches, warlocks, wolf and of course The Amadis.
This story takes place between soul savers (internationally bestsellers will worth a read ) Promise book 1 and Purpose book two. We meet a few of our old friends and meet one new ones too.
The writing style is easy to read and the world building is perfect, I could imagine me self there watching the story unfolds in front of me. and has always Kirstie Cook leaves you wanting more
Will worth a read, I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

This was a great little read with an interesting storyline. It was good to read about another aspect of the Amadis world, and good appearances from Blossom, Charlotte and Owen.

I have been following Kristie Cook since I randomly found her book "Promise" and fell in love with her stories. So imagine how excited I was when an ARC of "The Wolves" landed in my Kindle the other day.

Very excited.

"The Wolves" follows Sundae Grayson, a werewolf who is ready to leave her pack and explore life on her own. But that's not how things turn out for this 22-year old. Due to a series of events involving the Daemoni (those are the bad guys for those of you who haven't read the "Soul Savers" series yet), Sundae is not only forced back into the pack. She's forced to lead it. Her first act as the leader is a mission that will quite literally, save the world.

While it isn't part of the "Soul Savers" series (one of my absolute favorites), it's a parallel storyline. And a really good one at that. It was a treat for me to see that when it comes to saving the world from evil, it takes more than just angels. It takes courageous acts from all kinds of creatures.

Even if you haven't read the "Soul Savers" series yet (what are you waiting for?? "Promise" is free!!), you will enjoy " The Wolves". It's a fantastic installment of the "Supernatural Chronicles".

But that's not all. Oh no. This is where things get exciting:

As I was getting ready to write up my review, I noticed "The Wolves" is listed as the second installment in the series.

Huh?

I then noticed that the first installment, "The Skinwalkers" was written by someone else. Looking even closer, every single installment is written by someone different. Not knowing why this is, I went ahead and contacted Ms. Cook personally to find out what is going on! Here's what she said:

"They are a series of books, each written by a different author, each about a different supernatural creature. The first 9 stories are about a supernatural race given a riddle to solve and they have to bring a relic to the cemetery in New Orleans before the veil between our physical world and the Other one falls."

Well now I'm intrigued. But guess what? It gets better:

"The last book, The Noir, wraps up the overall story...Make sure you collect the relics because there is a scavenger hunt at the end with some amazing prizes. BTW, if you joins us in the Dynamis' Dynamic Readers Facebook group, you'll get all the info and be able to stay on top of all the giveaways and fun."

That. Is. Freaking. COOL!!!

Of course, I immediately added myself to the group. And you'll want to as well. This is an amazing interactive concept and I don't think any of us want to miss out.

The book itself is easily 4.5 stars or more. But this whole idea makes it 5 stars for me.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author and team for letting me read and review this.

Kristie Cook has done it again! This is the second book in the series the Dynamis in New Orleans. This is turning into a great series. First off, Kristie makes the characters so true to nature that you can't help but feel what they are feeling from the beginning and as the story goes on. I love that about Kristie! I have read her series Soul Savers and this book fits nicely into the series although it maintains their own separate story line. I love it!

This story is about a young woman (werewolf), 22 year old Sundae, struggling for her independence, even though she doesn't want to necessarily leave her pack and her dad, but wants to mark the world on her own. I think we can all relate to that at some point! She has had a childhood crush on Trevor, who is not only an alpha from another pack, but it also her dad's friend. He is older than she is and has always treated her like a little sister which has driven Sundae crazy! Who wouldn't it have? He is the one of the reasons why she wants to go as far away as possible, less chance of seeing him and reminding her of her deep feelings for him that has not seem to go away. All is good, until her dad gets hurt and Trevor comes to help even though she never asked. They must solve the mystery and the requirements while fighting off the enemy that is trying to stop them, and the world.

It is a must read!!!! Albiet, all of Kristie Cook's books are a must read!Kristie Cook

A Novella but SO WORTH the read! Sexy Wolves are always worth the read!!!!!

Part of the Soul Savers Series but can be read as a stand alone!

Author Kristie Cook is the amazing author of the Soul Savers Series. If you have not read it yet, do not fret. You can read it AFTER you read Wolves! What this book does not have in length, it makes up for in content! When Sundae, the daughter of a Wolf pack leader finds herself in the pack leader position, she is torn. She was ready to be free of the pack and start her own life. She was not ready to take on this role. She is now faced with a pack relying on her to make a huge decision. Does she reach out to another pack for help and risk seeing the man she has mixed feelings about? Does she ask for help from the Amadis for whom she feels no allegiance to? Sundae is torn as she knows that this all rests in her hands and the fate of the pack could very well be her final decision. She wants to be treated like an adult but will everyone see past the child they have known all their lives? Get WOLVES NOW and find out! You will be glad you did!

The second book in the Supernatural Chronicals, The Wolves, released 1 week after the first, and I absorbed it within a few hours of turning on my kindle on release day. Having read the first book in her Soul Saver series (also great! Highly recommend), I knew that Kristie Cook was an excellent writer when it comes to producing dynamic, complex characters and drawing me into her stories. I am always a fan of werewolves as a strong, proud, loyal and fierce species and was not in the least disappointed by Kristie's wolves. At first, Sundae--the heroine--embodies the typical rebellious teen vying for independence from her father's wishes of responsibility, but when the mysterious and urgent mission to protect the veil falls into her hands, within the few pages of this book, she is forced to transition into a leader, and her bravery, determination and protective nature shine through. Did I mention there's also some motorcycles, enthralling action scenes, and the appearance of some other supernaturals like vampires and mages? The romantic sub-plot was also well incorporated without ditracting from the main story. I've heard Sundae shows up in her Soul Saver series and I look forward to learning more about the wolves. For me, this book was too short and I am now a Kristie Cook follower. Here's hoping to be as wrapped up by Brenda Pandos' vampires in Book 3...

Supernatural Chronicles – The Wolves, by Kristie Cook is the second book in the Dynamis in New Orleans series.

The story is about Sundae Grayson, a werewolf who will become her packs Alfa hopefully in the very distant future when her father passes away. In the mean time she is of an age where she wants to be independent of the pack and is planning on leaving home. Her plans don't come to fruition though because her father is attacked, and Sundae needs to take on the task of stopping those that attacked him from fulfilling a prophecy that will allow evil to reign supreme all over the world.

This novella is fast moving, with so much happening right from the start, an absolute action packed story. There are heart breaking moments, scary moments, thrilling ones, and even a touch of romance. What is really nice is that there are characters mentioned or that play a part in the story that are from Kristie's Soul Savers series books and having read those books it was nice to read about the familiar characters again. That said, if you haven't read the Soul Savers books, it doesn't matter because this book can easily be read as a stand alone one. I really enjoyed this book and fully recommend it.

This is a novella’s timeline falls between Promise, Book 1, and Purpose, Book 2. I think it is fine as a stand alone…but there are characters from book 1 that are good to know before reading this story.
Sundae Grayson has lived under the control of her father and the wolf pack he leads all her life and now she has finished college and is making plans to escape her pack and start her life in some place new. The only problem with plans are they tend to get messed up. Sundae’s Dad didn’t tell her about a curse placed long ago on their wolf pack and now her father was attacked and the only way to save him is to become the next Alpha, lead her pack, and follow the clues to break the curse.
Sundae reluctantly accepts the help of another pack Alpha leader, Trevor, who she has also had a crush on since she was a teenager, as the two work together to solve the clues that will save their packs, the Amadis, and the mortal world.
This was a fast paced and exciting story. I love the books I can’t put down and have to finish! If you have read any of the Soul Savers series…you have to read this one!

I received this ARC for an honest review.

Firstly I would like to thank the lovely author and her publishing team for kindly providing me with a copy to read and review.

As always this is yet again another notch on Kristies every growing belt of fantastic books that she writes.

I love small novellas like this, they always seem to show light on a different section of a story that's part of a bigger plan. Kristie talent of creating worlds that sucks you in and swallow you whole definitely comes to light yet again in this instalment.

It runs along side her Soul Savers series but you don't have to have read them to understand this book, but I would totally recommend reading the Series though ;)

Supernatural Chronicles: The Wolves certainly was short and got straight to the point, but nevertheless it was amazing! I loved how Sundae came into herself throughout the novella and rose to the occasion at the end.

But what happens when she finds a cryptic note in her dying father's pocket?

Not only is it a riddle she must solve to save his life, but it involves other supernatural beings......

WOW! There are very few novella's where I feel a full story has been told and The Wolves does just that. Although this could be a stand alone I do feel to get the full effect one should read the Soul Savers Series to understand all the characters, where they are coming from and some key moments and references made in this story. I am a lover of Kristie Cook and reading all these familiar names and being able to link them with her previous books made ma fangirl all over again!

It's a steady paced read with plenty of action, turmoil and suspense. As time is running out for Sundae and with the fate of the world at stake you will find yourself holding your breathe and furiously reading to see what happens next!

And Trevor, if only that man could fit into my nightstand *wink*

Sundae is the daughter of the Alpha of the wolf pack. She feels stifled until his control and knows he will be Alpha for many years. Too many years for her to remain at home waiting to take her place as Alpha. Just before she is set out for her adventure, her father is attacked and left for dead, his house ransacked. Sundae finds a cryptic note in his pocket. Along with his garbled words, she sets off to do her part and save mankind and immortals alike against the forces of evil. She still does not know what she is to accomplish or whom to trust. Trevor shows up and travels with her to help solve the riddle in less than two days time.

Sundae's sacrifice is no less than what other will have to decide whether to pay or not for the greater good. She is hindered by time, distance, and no knowledge of this ancient prophecy her father was supposed to impart to her as the next Alpha. A wonderful story that intertwines with the overall Supernatural Chronicles.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

A nice, short action packed novella, great for readers who have read the Soul Savers series by Kristie. The story's timeline takes place between Promise and Purpose.

Sundae, the heroine, is a 22 year old werewolf, next in line to become alpha of the pack. Just finished college, Sundae wants to move away and 'do her own thing', but she receives a phone call that changes everything.
What occurs from that point on is journey to save not only the packs lives but also all of the Armadis.

I enjoyed this story, it was fast paced and I absolutely love love loved seeing some of my favourite characters from the soul savers series!! I would have liked to see a bit more of Sundae and Trevor together in a romantic capacity, but thats just my opinion.

I read this as an ARC book.

I have read all the books in the Soul Savers Series and was not sure if I would like this book as I don't usually like stories told from another perspective but I am delighted to say I loved the Wolves and Sundae's story as it nicely fits into the series without duplication. As Sundae gets over the shock of her fathers attack she finds herself needing to solve a riddle to save her pack also she needs to look at the way she will lead her pack if she becomes the Alpha. There is so much at stake at times I wondered if she can complete her task. The story is beautifully written the characters are so real you become wrapped up in their lives so much so you feel bereft when you reach the end.

I truly liked The Wolves, I'm hoping it is the start to a great new series by Kristie Cook. Sundae is a wolf who must decide whether or not to embrace her heritage or go on with her plans to have a life of her own, away from the pack her father is Alpha to. The night before she is scheduled to leave her father is attacked, which leads to her needing to ask a nearby Alpha; Trevor, for assistance. Her choices will take her to the City of the Dead in New Orleans, and along the way to decide what path her life will take, help guard the Amadis, or leave the pack forever. I had a slightly hard time getting to know the characters and their mind sets, but it is definitely worth reading and will leave you wanting to know what happens next. 3.5 ☆'s from me, I was given an ARC for an honest review.

The 2nd book in the Dynaims series has me hooked. I cannot wait for the Vampires...

I love Novellas like this that give light on a different section that's part of a bigger picture. Kristie has a true talent for creating a world that sucks you in and swallows you whole.
This was a great novella focusing on the wolves of the Soul Savers Series. This Novella takes place between Promise (book 1) and Purpose (book 2)

Sundae is very likable and you really feel for her. I won't go into more detail as it would give too much away but I highly recommend this novella to anyone who likes Wolves, Supernatural, and a fast paced book.

Another extremely well written story from Kristie Cook. This story takes place in the Soul Saver World with many familiar characters and background. There is a great story line and it is a quick easy read that draws you in quickly and keeps you hooked until the end! I finished with a desire for more. This is great for people who have read the Soul Saver Series and those who haven't though you definitely get more depth and subtleties if you have read the Soul Saver Series, or at least Promise before reading this Novella. All in all, this is a great quick read that draws you in quickly and leaves you wanting more!

If you read books, you probably have come across stories which have been struck by the novella curse - that is, where the story is adversely affected by the fact that the author has tried to truncate it into a shorter length. I am pleased to tell you that this is most definitely not one of those books.

I have read books from the Soul Savers series, and enjoyed them, and this book is set within that universe. And what a tantalising, action-packed tale this is. Fancy saving the world before tea-time? Bring it on.

A bite-sized (no pun intended) glimpse into the Soul Savers' world, with a teasing hint of spice thrown in.

The Wolves by Kristie Cook, the second book in the Dynamis Series, was great! Sundae, the Alpha's daughter, who is ready to set out on her own and break free from the pack, suddenly is thrust into a position she's never wanted. An old crush comes back to town to help her but Sundae is stubborn and refuses help at every turn. The Veil between the living and the dead is coming down and Sundae feels defeated but the answers are in her heart. Very well written book. I'm loving this series. There's some heartbreak, mystery and true love (family). Would definitely recommend. I've never read anything by Kristie Cook, but I'm going to now!

Just as she is about to embark on that life, a traitorous incident happens that stops her dead in her tracks. Back comes the evil of the Daemoni and another attempt at domination. What will happen? Will the leader of the wolves survive? Will the daughter be forced to take over a life she doesn't want? Catch the story now along with all the stories in the Supernatural Chronicles.

Amazing chronicles concept with excellent author execution

This is the second novella in the Supernatural Chronicles, and I am already hooked! Kristie Cook is not an author I was familiar with prior to this release, but with just a few pages I felt like I had known the main characters for years, and I could feel the grief, love, and adrenaline-laced action scenes like I was right there with them. My only complaint is that the story was a novella and not a full length novel with more to enjoy!!!

A classic battle of good vs. Evil - who will win....

Sundae is a young 20 something year old shape shifter wolf who wants her independance and to stand on her own away from her pack. But when her father and pack alpha is attacked by the Daemoni, supernaturals controled by demons, Sundae finds out she has two days to solve a riddle. If she can solve the riddle the Amadis, supernaturals controled by Angels, will have the power over the world. If she can not figure the riddle the Daemoni will take over the world, enslaving everyone.

Can Sundae figure out the answer before the two days are up?

~~I received this in exchange for my honest opinion~~

Let me just start by saying that I haven't read the Soul Savers series YET! That being said it is on my to be read list. This book is between the first and second books in the series. I wasn't confused at all by what was going on. I followed it just fine. This novella was a good book. I couldn't put it down. It was packed full of action and fast motorcycles, well and Wolves, Angels, and vampires. I loved this book. I need to go back and read the Soul Savers series. I know that I will love that just as much!!

Another amazing read by Kristie Cook. She took us back to our love for her Soul Savers series and brought us an entirely new story about Sundae and her wolf pack. The story follows Sundae and her quest to solve and fulfill a prophecy that is handed down (through her pack only) from alpha to alpha. Only she doesn't get handed down the prophecy and must race to uncover what it is and fulfill it all the while trying to find herself in the process. I would recommend reading the first two books of the Soul Savers books first and then this one. :)

Kristie Cook delivered a novella masterpiece! The tale of the tough, confused future alpha Sundae grabs your attention immediately, and takes you on a wild ride. Following her on her journey to save the world and find herself. This is very unlike other coming of age stories because there is not teenaged angst, you have an adult who is responsible already who follows her heart, and her pack instincts to do what needs to be done, and in doing so she emerges as a shining example of good. In being good she also shows how to have a wild streak! I hope to have more of her in future reads!

This is a great short read that ties in with the awesome Kristie Cooks Soul Saver series, or it can be read as a stand alone. Its the second release in the Supernatural Chronicles, which is a series of short stories by some amazing writers. When Sundea's father is attacked and left for dead, she is faced with not only that shes about to become the leader of their wolf pack but a mystery to solve. Along with her, Trevor and some of her pack, their journey takes them to New Orleans to solve the mystery and save the world from the very demons who attacked her dad.
