Deadlines and bills, illnesses and fears about the future, frustrations with others and ourselves . . . there’s enough going on in our lives to make us feel overwhelmed and anxious, if not panicked! But Jesus said that we could expect this, that trials and sorrows are simply part of life on earth, and He offers an amazing gift that changes His peace. He tells us, “The peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27 nlt).

When I received this new release I was so excited to sit down and discover this collection of devotional stories. It’s perfect for those few minutes you have to sit and relax. The very first two devotionals I read spoke just to me.
With short reads followed by several scriptures, each story is devoted to an issue that we run into in life. One that I could relate to immediately was the story called No One Prepared Me for This. The author spoke of having to drop her son off at college and the emotions we go through. This is something I am dealing with myself and definitely not looking forward to him growing up and leaving the nest.
Whether you are looking for a gift for someone special or a beautiful devotional you can enjoy yourself, you have to check out the 5 Minutes with Jesus series and this new release Peace for Today by Sheila Walsh. Perfect for those few minutes in the morning before the day starts or at the end of the day when all is quiet and you can think and be at peace. I love this awesome devotional! So fitting with my life today!
I enjoyed the format. Each devotional began with some sort of a personal story or event, applied to a biblical truth, followed up with a power thought, then several bible verses to strengthen and polish off the devotion.
Me encantó!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗
Hay tantos temas que resaltar de este bello libro, que lo mejor que puedo decir es... LÉELO!!!
I was given this book as a gift and have loved it so much. Although each devotion is short (hence 5 mins with Jesus) there is such depth to the writing which enables me to stop and reflect on my walk with Christ. I have appreciated the range of Bible verses at the end of each devotion which have pointed me to relevant verses for whatever the topic was for the day. I have used this book both at the start of my day to focus on Jesus and at the end of the day to pause, reflect and find a moment of peace.
Are you always in a hurry? Do you find it hard to find time to devote to connecting with God each day? For so long, I could come up with a zillion reasons why I had no time for reading scripture and connecting with God until I found a way to incorporate it into my everyday schedule.
If you are having a struggle finding time for the Word of God, for devotions, meditation and prayer, I would suggest you check out 5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today by Sheila Walsh. This great book will get you started in the right direction without making too much change right away and it'll only take five minutes out of your life!
You will find the devotions are quick and easy to read - never more than "5 minutes" promised! As I've been reading through 5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today, I've found the stories to be funny, heartfelt and interesting and they range from refreshing personal short stories relaying "real life" incidents to Biblical accounts to historical events. The author ties each of the stories to a lesson for the day. She then ends each reading with several scriptures connected to the theme of the reading for that day.
You will find this book filled with refreshing stories from the heart. Each devotion starts out with two or three pages of text (the stories). Next there's a blue box with a question or a thought displayed for the reader to ponder on. After the blue box, you'll see scripture verses along with the Bible translation from which they are derived. There are usually three to five verses given from NLT, NIV and ESV Bible translations and they're written in italics.
Each reading includes messages that remind you of truths such as:
Resting in the purpose God has for you brings peace. God loves you for who you are, not what you do. No matter how big the storm, God is bigger.
I've used the book for about two weeks straight, and I've really enjoyed the pages I've read. I've been using these little devotionals first thing in the morning each day to start out my time with God, but you could definitely use this as lunchtime or evening devotional, or if you are trying to squeeze in your "God time" right now, you could use this during your lunch break or even while waiting in a carpool line to pick up your kids. You could even use this as the last thing you read each night before you go to sleep. There are lessons 5 Minutes with Jesus: Peace for Today for new Christians, for seasoned believers who are looking to be refreshed and for women struggling in a difficult season.
From the first time I seen Sheila Walsh at Women of Faith 6 years ago, I knew she was truly on fire for God. She oozes Jesus and it shows in her speaking, her writings, her music and her life. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book for my honest review.
Our days can become so busy that we rush from one thing to another. Begin each day with a short devotional that will leave you with the peace of Jesus. Each devotional has a thought for the day and then ends with a section called "Five Minutes in the Word" that includes several scriptures that tie in to the devotional.
The book is small, has a bendable cover, and fits well in my purse for those rushed, out the door mornings. Each day has a thought that centers around the peace and calm that can only come from time with Jesus. The author uses stories and antidotes to help illustrate her thoughts and ties everything together with scripture. I really liked the extra scripture at the end of the devotional. Each text is written out so the reader doesn't need to grab their Bible if they are pressed for time or taking the book to another location. Overall, this was a beautiful little book that had some great thoughts. It would work well for a gift, but I intend to keep mine.
I received this book free of charge from Harper Collins in exchange for my honest review.
5 Minutes With Jesus: Peace for Today is another winner from Christian speaker and author Sheila Walsh. 5 Minutes With Jesus is a devotional.
5 Minutes With Jesus: Peace for Today is available as an ebook as well as in hardcover. I am currently enjoying the ebook version. 5 Minutes with Jesus is a great way to start the day. Each chapter begins with a devotional and is followed by related bible verses in several versions such as NLT and NIV.
Sometimes all we have is 5 minutes to devote to bible study in our lives. Sheila Walsh's 5 Minutes With Jesus: Peace for Today is great for days like that. Though brief, each devotional is filled with interesting and challenging insights.
I think you will enjoy 5 Minutes With Jesus: Peace for Today. It would also be a great gift.
As a mom, author, homeschooler, pastor's wife who is literally always busy. This book has come in handy many times. It is short enough to read in five minute spurts, when I get up in the morning, or for bedtime devotions, or for times when I need to reach out for five minutes with Jesus. I keep my copy beside my bed and even my children make use of it. I love the small size which makes it easy to carry if I need to read it on the road. It includes a short devotional, scripture, and an application. A great devotional, highly recommended.
I had never read any of Sheila Walsh's books but I saw her talking about this one on a couple of shows. I enjoyed it very much and it taught me things and caused me to think about other issues. I'll be reading another of her books.
This was the second book I finished in Spanish and I really liked it because it wasn't hard to understand and not long, so I could concentrate on reading and understanding what it says. It's a devotional which gives you encouragement for each day plus a few Bible verses at the end of each chapter.
Beautiful. Perfectly needed words in the perfect format for a busy mom. Delighted to get a copy for review so I could share my honest opinion, which is: "Thanks, Sheila Walsh".
