Fiction is a lie, but there is truth behind every lie.
Georgie’s 30 year journey spans the entire Rainbow Reader series and can be read in any order. However, for readers interested in following the timeline in complete continuity, the proper reading order for the series begins with the unpublished, “ The Secret Manuscript,” and continues directly into “Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.”
The timeline continues quite chronologically into the three “Moments in Time” novels.
Following the three “Moments in Time” novels, the story and timeline then continues to spin off different characters’ timelines in order to give the reader an all-encompassing, comprehensive and truly relative reading experience about the characters’ lives as they all develop individually.
The Rainbow Reader series begins again after the three novels with “ Educating Hayden,” “ Surrender,” “ Secrets,” “ Reconnect,” and the final Rainbow Reader, “Silver & True Love's Kiss.”
“ Secrets” Features Ian continuing his journey from his last adventures in “The Rainbow Reader Surrender.” Everybody has secrets. Follow Ian as he reveals his secrets, and helps others to do the same. Ian discovers several battered, abused, and neglected gay teens that have escaped the social welfare system, and are forced to live on the streets in less than desirable environments. Ian is impassioned with hope of saving all of them from a most uncertain tragedy, but is limited by challenges that may overcome his resources, unless he gets help. He is only one man. He is not a super hero and can’t save the world by himself. Ian’s mysterious elegance of secrets absorbing the negative energy around him. What is Ian’s secret?
There’s no better fiction than the truth.
Enjoy the ninth in the Rainbow Reader Series, “ Secrets.”
Writing was Adam's hobby. The voices in his head are constantly battling to get out, often leaving him working on four or five different books at once. He can't help but write. When he discovered he was actually good at writing, it became a full time passion that often interrupts his full time gig Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Along with his writing addiction he has a serious caffeine addiction. Some nights, the only reason he stops writing and goes to sleep is for the fresh brewed coffee in the morning. Teaching English in China, there are serious challenges living in a rural seaside holiday resort to find good coffee.
As an Author, Adam Stevens skillfully writes with a relevant, compelling and believable ability to articulate the emotional context of each character. He will captivate and engage you, in an addictive manner that will make you yearn for the next paragraph, page, chapter, and book.
As a Gay Romance Novelist, he has a brilliant magic with words that will draw you into his works with an almost addictive seduction. Each characters personality jumps off the page and into your heart.

Another piece of the Rainbow Reader puzzle falls into place in “Black: Secrets,” as we follow Ian and Kyle when they enter their Honour’s Program at university, making new friends and meeting new challenges along the way.
What begins as a fun new adventure with Ian and Kyle discovering their individual love and openly living together on campus and Ian revelling in the academic exchanges with his professors and other students, quickly takes a dramatic and emotionally challenging turn as they encounter a group of children who the Social Welfare system has let fall through the cracks of abuse and exploitation. These children are living on the streets in constant fear for not only where their next meal is coming from or where they will sleep tonight, but for their very survival.
After a confronting emotional epiphany and with the help of his supportive parents and his small band of friends, Ian sets about rescuing this group and putting plans in motion that will provide for their long term well-being.
A trip back to Hawaii sees Ian re-united with his first love Warren and his new life-partner, Georgie, sharing his experience with the children and being once again embraced and immersed by that part of Hawaiian culture which influence and shape his life from this point on.
While this was yet another emotional journey for me, I also found myself challenged on the grounds of my social awareness and responsibility to those in need of my help and support. And the author's notes on Hawaiian spiritual culture enabled me to look at the world around me from a fresh and more open perspective. All of this leaves me craving the next instalment in the Series (Brown: Reconnect).
Thank you again, Adam Stevens, for another work of well-crafted and emotionally engaging storytelling. I would urge you all to follow Adam's advice to "Read like you've never read before!" and enjoy your adventure following the Rainbow Reader series through from beginning to end. As he says, “The beginning is the best place to start.” I advise everyone to read the first in the Rainbow reader series, “Red: Awakening,” and learn the complete story from the beginning. It is a unique and original story that is quite emotionally addictive.
"Be open minded and accept everyone for who they are, not what they are worth, or what they can do for you." ~ This for me is one of the most poignant lines in the book.
This starts with a few laughs as we see Ian a Kyle starting college, meeting some rather eccentric traits. And then as we get further in we meet Blake Daemon and his friends. What follows will, in one breath break the most hardened of hearts and then restore your faith in humanity too as we find out what Ian plans to do to help those that need it and the lengths he goes to in doing so. We also see a few familiar characters make an appearance. (which is bound to happen as you'll know if you've been following the story) I loved how smoothly this flowed, and how Gus turned out to be the nice guy. I broke my heart when reading parts of this, not just at the actions of Ian & Kyle but also at the generosity shown by strangers too. And please don't get me started on the reasoning behind them helping Blake and the others..... Get your tissues ready, i won't divulge too much as to why you'll need them as it's a "Secret".
This book is a continuation of Ian and Kyle’s story in college and their growing relationship. We get a taste of their various classes and professors in the Honors Program and meet their new circle of friends. It’s during this time that Ian’s mind begins to sort out his personal philosophy about life. His encounter with Blake, a young man who he notices sleeping in the lobby of his dorm, leads him on a path that branches out in ways that is mind boggling. I’m glad I had my box of tissues handy.
We meet new people in this book but when Ian is called back to Hawaii we see familiar faces that left me clapping with glee. The way Kyle is welcomed into Ian’s family and extended family as one of their own, melted my heart. It was truly magical.
For me this was the deepest of the Rainbow Reader books. A huge thank you to the author, Adam Stevens, who challenges us to be accepting of others, not just those who fit into our box/lifestyle. In this divisive climate we live in, truer words were never spoken, or in this case, written. I’m anxious to see what’s at the end of this 5 star Rainbow.
