Ash Sabien, a born mortal witch, was meant to be an immortal guardian, as was Soren Wade. But they were never meant to be lovers, which is why Ash fought the pull to him, sometimes venomously. Days before the sacred holiday of the Day of the Dead a message was sent to their coven: diairoúmeno aíma enós epistrofí̱ sou. It was a call to rise, a call to hunt what was revered by their coven and use it to stop evil. The honor of the hunt was given to Ash and Soren. When Ash rushed to tell Soren of the mystery before them the last thing she expected was to walk in on Soren with another girl. She bolted. He chased her. Neither one of them saw the truck. Neither one of them felt the pain. Death came like a thief in the night. Ash knew as she stared at the tragic scene that she’d failed her fate, they both had. She let herself feel, care—and now there was no telling what could happen because she had.
In death could they rise? In death could they finish the hunt and save more than them, more than their coven...?
I'm an obsessive daydreamer. Lover of loud alternative music. I love to laugh until it hurts. Fall is my favorite season. Black is my favorite 'shade.' Strong believer in the saying: there is a reason for everything, therefore I search for 'marked moments' every moment of everyday...and I find them. Life is beautiful!
First, I already LOVE everything Jamie Magee has written, so let me just put that out there. Second, I love how she gives you some back story so you get to know Ash and Soren a bit as well as their journey and their respective families.
Ash and Soren have been told their entire lives that, along with Ash's twin sister, they will protect Raven, the youngest sister. Raven is meant to fight an epic battle. In the meantime, Ash is fighting her feelings towards Soren and after finding him in a possibly compromising position with another woman, Ash runs from him. What comes next is a battle to figure out what is happening and how to fix it. Then Ash and Soren must do their part to help the Veil between the living and dead stay in place.
Well written and captivating as usual. A great addition to the Dynamis series!
Another addition to the Supernatural Chronicals, The Witches follows Ash and Soren, both witches, as they come to terms with their destiny together and how it fits into keeping the Veil strong and darkness at bay. I have not read any Jamie Magee previously and think that may have caused the confusion I felt regarding how all the characters fit together. Though not my favorite in the series, I enjoyed the quick read and the romance between Ash and Soren; an interesting plotline with lots of twists and surprises.
So this amazing book is live as of today so let's review it! *I received an ARC*
New Orleans, back in the web of hearts and soul! I think the only bad thing I can say about this book is how Ash was annoying sometimes but eh no annoying Ash, no book and no lessons to be learned!! So there's really nothing bad to say about this novella, you don't reallt have time to find any flaw because you're hooked in the story and it ends before you know it!!
Now the good things about this perfect little novella! The mysticism of New Orleans is still perfect!! I love this place!!!! Ash and Soren at just AMAZING, together and alone ehe The link with Edge in mind-blowing (im still shocked but I shall not spoil so...!!!) Reveca is still badass and all-knowing, she's definitely my queen Jamison isn't a lot present but he's still himself, best dad ever!! And finally just the vibe of the Coven, it's amazing, Jamie managed to make us feel it through the pages!! Jamie weaved her dear web again, and she did it perfectly!!!
This is a story centered around acceptance and a romance that expands the sense of time, with the Dominarum Coven trying to fulfill a barter that was made and welcome back the sacrifice that was given, as time runs out for it to be completed successfully when heartbreak and tragedy threatened to destroy their efforts. Soren and Ash have a complicated romantic relationship, with Soren willing and ready for them to make their love public, Ash is struggling to balance her intense desire and love for Soren and her responsibility as being a guardian to her half sister Raven who is destined to rise to bring Rapture and balance to humanity.
Amazing as usual. I did not read any of the other books in this series. I read this one because I love Jamie Magee’s Web of Hearts and Souls series that goes along with this and I’m glad that I did. Soren is amazingly strong and sure of his love for Ash, even if she is constantly running scared. This novella was great. I am glad that I found it.
I can see where it fits with the series and enjoyed the writing style but became a little confused as to the whole witchcraft backline. May be me but it seemed a little unclear at times. Still enjoyable story and great to see how the problems are progressing
I found the Web of Hearts and Souls a couple of years ago and read all that there was. So glad that there are more to read now. I thought this was great (as usual). It flowed well and I loved looking at the backstory for Ash and Soren.
An exciting story of duty, love, sacrifice and denial. The emotional turmoil and sexual attraction between witches, Ash and Soren, is very well written. It not only illustrates their feelings for each other, but also the differences in their personalities. They have to reconcile their feelings for each other and fulfill their task to prevent the Veil from falling. Ash and Soren's is a story of love that spans the ages and weaves a tale with many twists and turns. It is a great addition to the Supernatural Chronicles series.
'Dammit' was what I said when it ended. Over too soon was my first thought! As always Jamie's books leaving you wanting more. Her writing is so rich and deep it pulls you under deep and powerful. She has an incredible level to her writing, you can 'feel' what her characters feel. Her characters are strong in their destinies, sometimes confused but ultimately knowing what they need to do ... Ugh, even as I write this I want more. What else can be said except pour me another drink so I can go under again. Bravo Jamie Bravo.
The sixth book in the Supernatural Chronicles. Ash is a witch, she has a twin sister River, and in love with Soren, the three of them are guardians to her sister Raven. Ash and Soren need to add their puzzle piece but not in the traditional way others have. I enjoyed this story but it didn't really pull me in. I think because I really couldn't like Ash. She annoyed me and I just didn't like her. But I loved the different way they had to complete their puzzle piece.
An unbelievably excellent book. It caught my attention from the beginning and I was sucked in. The pull between the characters was real and heartfelt. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time reading this hoping and praying for a happy ending. I won't give anything away but this is definitely not a book to miss.
Highly recommend, fantastic stories! I was a little hesitant to read this series because I had only read Jaime Magee (The Witches) and im not a fan of short stories. Fast paced adventures & a fun ride! I'm impressed by how this series turned out & and am looking forward to its continuation. I am also going to scope out the authors other works :-)
In this instalment you meet Ash and Soren they are tested time and time again and must get their mission complete. I really enjoyed the story of Ash and Soren and the test and trails they went thru. I enjoyed the plot and the author's writing style.
The Witches had my heart racing I couldn't put it down!!! Destiny mystery epic evil star-crossed lovers and undying love!!! the romance between Ash & Soren was delicious!!! This is one of my faves in the Supernatural Chronicles Jamie Magee is amazing!!! I NEED MORE Ash & Soren!!!
I read this as part of the box set. I love the history in this short story. I love this love eternal. I want to know more about a few of the side characters. Namely the biker aunt...just sayin...
This series now gets another good review from me. I was getting worried but this one was another hit for me. Closer to 3.5 and only because the editing left ALOT to be desired.
