This book and the preceding The Queen's Wings (Emerging Queens) were exceptional entertainment. It dragged a few times but overall it was funny, passionate, and just a great story.

I hope there will be more of these books because I read them both in less than 36 hours in marathon reading sessions between things interupting me.

I laughed a lot and this line makes it into my Insult Hall of Fame (talking to a bimbo in her office) "You and every other gold digger without a gag reflex". Took me a minute to get it and I almost lost it :)

Bottom Line: These two books make a very long and exceptionally entertaining story that I laughed at while in the background a very serious plot took place. The author played the two off perfectly in both books and I cannot wait to get the next one. Highly Recommended because even though I suppose they qualify as light reading I cannot think of anything I did not like about them enough to subtract a whole star but since I can't really feel right about giving them the same 5 Star rating I have given to some truly outstanding works I am going to say 4 Stars for this book but 5 Stars for the two books combined.

What a brilliant combination! This is a paranormal tale packed with danger, mystery, threats and romance, a superbly written delightful novel to escape into and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

In a dystopian world where humans and dragons live and work together, there are only five queen dragons . . . . or that was true until one of those queens used magic which killed her but enabled many others females to shift from human to dragon form, even though they were unaware they were queen dragons. With a plethora of new queens in the world, the male dragons all want to claim them for themselves so none are safe and there are others trying to capture the new queens for their own purposes . . .

Viola Pierce has an unfortunate history with men and this looks like continuing when she suddenly discovers she’s a three headed queen dragon. Her boss tries to keep her trapped for his own nefarious reasons but Viola is feisty and determined. When she meets Sergei their attraction is mutual but he’s sworn to avoid all queen dragons after a traumatic time from which he escaped. Viola, however, needs protecting and guiding and he doesn’t trust anyone else to look after her and keep her safe. As the world changes, dangers abound and their life is about to get even more interesting!

This is a great read, filled with humour, dilemmas, discoveries and more. A real page turner that kept me giggling then worrying as everything unfolds and new skills are developed and revealed. I have to confess to being totally enthralled in it. I’ve read other books about dragon shifters but thought this was a unique take on the genre and one that I found easy to escape into and enjoy.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT gets started with a bang and it doesn't slow down from there. There is a ton of action, lots of danger and we get to see the couple from the previous book, which I always love.

Having said that, I don't feel that a new reader to the series really had the information they needed to really grasp what was happening in the beginning. For those that have not read the first book, they don't really know what it means that the main character is a Queen or why a male dragon would treat her the way they do and why they would try to keep her to themselves no matter her feelings. I am not one that wants to read a huge recap of a previous book, but those coming into the series for the first time probably needed that to truly enjoy the opening events. SO, I highly suggest any new readers to the series NOT start with THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT.

I hate to say it, but I didn't love Viola. I found her to be a bit of a doormat, some of her reactions didn't really resonate with me and on top of that, I didn't love her dragon form. I would have been ok with the 3 headed part, but one of her heads was a horse and the other was a goat. When I read that for the first time —which was in the first chapter— I was like.. Really? THAT is what she turns into? That was a little too odd for my tastes. Sergei on the other hand I liked pretty early on. He has a dark past, but he doesn't hide his feelings and I liked that.

I did enjoy the overall storyline of THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT. I wish I could have connected better with Viola, but I did end up liking her talents and the way she used them to find the missing Queens. Hopefully the next book's Queen will resonate with me more.

ARC From NetGalley!

The Queen's Flight begins when Viola ends up turning into a three headed dragon and taken by her former boss. The whole world knows about dragons, but they never expected for so many new female dragons to come alive out of the blue, but that's what happened.. And now many of them are in danger, and it's not looking good. They must do what they can to keep the woman safe no matter what.

This book started out interesting, but it kept changing from one thing happening to the next very quickly with little details as to what was actually happening. It began to be slightly frustrating towards the middle and end when I thought I knew what was happening, but then it just changed suddenly without warning.

Overall this book just wasn't for me, I tried to like it, but I didn't.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the emerging queens series. At the end of the first book we had a curse that was broken in order to release all the inner dragons of the Queens. This book picks up right were the first book left off. This deals with a Queen that all of the sudden can shift. I wish that I liked the characters in this but the Queen Viola was just odd and her dude was a huge JERK. I just wanted to enjoy the characters. The story was confusing at times and you will definitely need to have read book 1 in order to enjoy this at all.

Wow

Great story. So much happened in this book. I almost did not buy this second in series book. Book one was so good I thought there could not be much more to say. But even though I read two other books after book 1 in this series, I could not get book 1 out of my head. So I bought book 2, this book. So happy I did. It was awesome!

Very impressed. Got this as a blind date with a book from the author at a convention. When I opened it I was honestly disappointed. I hated the cover. But as they say, don't judge a book by its cover because, this was a pretty fantastic story. Filled with adventure, sweetness and good banter. Only reason its 4 instead of 5 is the cover, just can't get past that.

Loved the humor in this book

While I enjoyed the first two books in this series, I fell in love with the humor in this third book.

Dragons! What can I say? I adore dragons. Anything with dragons and I'm all over it. The Queen's Flight is an interesting take on the dragon shifter genre and I love the world Ms Schmidt is creating with these dragons. In this world, a curse has stopped the birth of female dragons, known as Queens, and now the curse is broken and Queens are emerging. This, of course, is causing a lot of chaos and confusion around the world as male dragon shifters hustle to protect the emerging Queens, but there are also those who want to stop them from emerging and want to cause them harm.

In this installment, we see the emergence of Viola, who is an unassuming admin assistant with a penchant for yarn. Viola is adorable. In the first half of the book she is naive and rather overwhelmed about being a dragon. She has a lot to learn and is floundering as she comes into contact with people who want to protect her, take advantage of her and / or get rid of her. Fortunately for her, she has Sergei as her Protector, although somewhat by accident. She does hit her stride as a Queen in the second half of the book as she learns more of what she can do and decides she won't play dragon politics but instead chooses to follow her own moral compass of deciding to do what is right for her. I truly admired her strength as she comes into her own strength and stands up for what she believes. It also helps that she and Sergei are damn hot together, although they struggled with their connection a little in the beginning since Sergei has issues with Queens.

Sergei is delicious. He's all bad boy biker, gruff, broody and with some serious issues. I'm glad Viola was able to get under his skin and crack his hard shell with all her yarn and cute cuddliness. Sergei is a wonderful (reluctant) Protector and (intentional) Consort. I adored how protective he was with Viola and later, how possessive he was too. Goodness, I do love me a growly, confident, dragon shifter hero. Sergei can growl at me any time!

There were a few chuckle out loud moments in the book for me too, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One was when Viola was asking for wine. My Steve and I love our wine, and Steve has even written a book on wine (shameless plug here!) and so he's somewhat of an expert. This line is fabulous.

Quote: “Is there wine?” she asked and then winced. “I don’t mean that in a psycho-Queen way. I just like Merlot.”
“Really? That’s a sign of a young palate.”

It's true. Most people who are starting out drinking wine tend to start with a Merlot since it's the easiest red wine to drink. It's probably one of the least demanding red wines on the palate, but I digress. :-) I love this line in the book.

The other was when Sergei is telling Viola her parents are coming to visit. This line needs no explanation. :-) It had me rolling in hilarity.

Quote: “So your parents are headed up here to meet us for dinner tomorrow,” Sergei told her in a voice that was usually reserved for informing someone that their dear Aunt Agatha had passed away. On Christmas. In bed with the butler. And a midget. And twenty pounds of uncut cocaine.

One rather disturbing thing which jumped out at me was Viola's mother hitting her, hard. And Viola accepted it like it was okay and normal. In recent times, with various discussions in the Bloggity group, we've talked a lot about hitting, and I'm taking more notice. I was disturbed by the hitting and also by Viola's acceptance of it. I'm very glad Sergei stepped in to protect her and also to prevent her getting hit again when her mother went to do so. I didn't realise hitting was such a widespread thing in the romance novels I was reading until it was pointed out to me. It's not okay when men hit women, so it should also not be okay when women hit men and parents hit their children in books. I look at romance as an escape and a fantasy world, and while some realism needs to be built into the stories to make them believable, I also believe they need to be held to a higher moral and ethical standard. It probably doesn't apply to all the dark romance out there, but this is my opinion. It upset me that Viola's mother hit her.

I thoroughly enjoyed the world building in this book. It provided much more insight into the dragon world, the plight of the emerging Queens and the weave which is the magic which surrounds the dragons and gives them their power.

I really enjoyed reading this and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I think this book works best if you don’t take it too seriously. Because as fun as it is, it also frequently turns a bit messy. Such as the beginning, where the reader gets thrown into the story without any preparation. I know this is the second book in this series, but I didn’t read the first one and it might have been nice to have had some background about how rare queens are and how male dragons (studs) are utterly subservient to them, before we get thrown into the confusion of Viola turning into a three-headed dragon and being kept prisoner by her boss. All for the sole purpose of becoming a breeding machine.

It’s not like the book then slows down and allows for any breathers or catch-ups either, because it’s pretty action-packed, with Viola on the run – not just from dragons who want to make babies with her, but humans who want to sacrifice her to curse the rest of the dragon race, and the other evil queens who either want to kill her or give her to their studs to make babies with. One thing this book doesn’t lack for is action. There is always something going on.

Which is good, because Viola isn’t the most inspiring heroine. Mostly she bumbles around not knowing what to do with herself. Her mother is awful, her father left her as a child, her ex-husband used her to pay off his student loans and her ex-boyfriend used her to get a motorbike. Basically, she’s a doormat – who now turns into a three-headed dragon, with a cutesy horse head on one side and a sarcastic goat on the other. Even then people are still trying to use her for something. It might have been nice to have found out just how they were tracking her down everywhere she turned, though, and although she isn’t a dislikeable character, the only distinguishing characteristic she had was her love of knitting. Which is kind of cute, but not a lot to hang onto.

Then there’s Sergei, the dragon with attitude who hates queens, but is attracted to Viola. He spends a lot of time brooding and blowing hot and cold, before joining her in lots of sex. He’s not particularly interesting either, considering how old he is, but at least he fills in some gaps about dragon life.

The plot romps along at a fair old pace but gets really messy towards the end. Lots of things happen in a very short amount of time, some of which take place “off screen” as it were, giving the last few chapters a very jerky, rushed feeling. To be honest I was expecting there to be a second book to follow this one, since there are so many different threads to be wrapped up. In a way it’s nice that Viola’s story is all (mostly) contained in one book, but to be honest there’s too much story here to be dealt with decently.

Also (and I may be alone on finding this really irritating), if you’re going to reference poetry at least get the poet right. “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night” is by Dylan Thomas not Rudyard Kipling!

So although I did enjoy this book, it’s a bit of a mess. There’s a good storyline here and the world is certainly intriguing, but the characters aren’t particularly engaging and the pacing could be a bit smoother. Still, if you’re looking for a fun paranormal with some interesting dragons, then you will find that here. It might be better to start with the first book, though, in the hopes that you will then know what on earth is going on. Well, one can hope…

Knit yourself into this adorable romance by Jamie Schmidt! Viola, the main character, seems your generic wishywashy romance heroine in the beginning of the book, but what I really appreciated about Schmidt’s story is that almost every character has significant development over the duration of the plot! Sergei is a horribly rude and scarred man in many ways. Later we learn more of why he is how he is, but in the beginning I wanted to wring his neck.

Schmidt handles the “dragon mates” thing very well in this book. I appreciate the detail and attention given to the logic and in the entire system of rule.

The attitudes of the Queens are both horrible and very logical in a way. I appreciate the dominance exhibited by them too; it’s an interesting parallel to the dominance and aggression exhibited in most shifter fiction by the men. All the new queens also exhibit what is an understandable amount of horror at how many of the men are treated. It’s clear that in the future there will be more stories about the queens and I look forward to it! I’d love to read more about Carolyn, so I’ll definitely be picking her book up in this series in particular.

My main beef with a lot of cute dragon shifter/save the princess books is that they fall into the damsel in distress category. For the first fourth of this book I really thought that may be the case in the end, but it definitely wasn’t! Viola’s dragon form isn’t the generic “beautiful strong and lithe” form that most women shift into in books that I’ve read. Her form is a three headed, enormous dragon with a deadly tail and gossamer wings. She has one dragon head, one goat, and one horse.

Honestly I should have taken that as a good sign.

Viola is a strong-minded woman who is pretty stubborn about doing what she thinks is right regardless of what other people think of her course of action.

In the beginning from the tone of the writing I expected this book to be a little more fluffy than it was. There were a surprising amounts of twists and really interesting developments that threw me for a loop time after time. I was really taken unawares by all the plot development and the realistic handling of the characters’ personalities. Rarely did I feel that the characters acted uncharacteristically. Despite my initial assumption that I wouldn’t like Viola’s character, she ended up being my favorite. What we see of her in the beginning is clearly affected by the shock of turning into a freaking huge DRAGON. Understandable.

My Beef:

Now since you’ve heard me gush- here is the one thing I had a problem with in this book.

Merrick.

Now I won’t spoil anything, but I have a problem with how abruptly his part of the story is ended and the manner in which it is. It is the only time I feel like Schmidt made one of the characters do something... uncharacteristic. I think it was probably done to clear up some possible conflicts introduced by his character but it made me a little sad. I LIKED him.

Another thing that annoyed me a little was that Sergei and Viola suffer from "obvious solution syndrome", where the ultra powerful beings need a down-home girl to just tell them the obvious solution that they NEVER thought of. I rolled my eyes a few times at that. But that's minor to me.

Review:

I am glad that I did not read the reviews on Goodreads before I agreed to read this for review or I might have had second thoughts. I generally don't pay much attention to others reviews because everyone is different and what might or might not appeal to them will not be the same for me.

I liked this book!

I thought it was interesting. The idea that a spell had been broken and now the world was seeing these Dragon Queens emerge, I thought was unique and there is so much that can be done with this and a continuing story-line. ***SPOILER*** The way the book ends with the missing Queen's and Viola and her entourage talking about finding more, I would think would be a perfect segway for it to be a series with them hunting down and rescuing Queen's. This is the second book in the series. I have not read the first book and it may have helped a little to read that one first, but I figured things out and really did not have a problem with reading them out of order. Viola was fun and I liked that when she turned into a dragon she had three heads that represented different aspects of her personality. The dialog when these three are talking is funny and snarky, which I really enjoyed. I also thought it was an interesting twist bringing in the two dead, crazy queens into herself to save another queen and Sergei. Sergei did come off as a little bit of a jerk at the beginning, but when you get to know what happened to him with Cassandra it helps with understanding where he is coming from. Now, there were some convoluted parts and some things glossed over, but I enjoyed reading this story. I am curious to see what happens with the rest of the series.

I have totally fallen in love with this series. It's so much fun. It's full of action, and mystery, and suspense, with hawt romance, and some serious creeptastic bad guys. And I am all about jumping aboard this rollercoaster!

So, we take off right where book one ended, learning more about humans and dragons living together after some dystopian like event has changed things. There are only supposed to be 5 quuen dragons left in the world, but at the end of the last book, one of those dragons did something magically crazy and it

s having a ripple affect around the world. So now, we are meeting new queens who have no idea what's going on. And lots of male now want to claim these queens for their own purposed. So, they all must learn how to acclimate to their new world, keep themselves safe from kidnappers and creepers, oh, and figure out what to do with themselves LOL Viola is one of these new queens. She works for a dragon, but when she all of a sudden shifts in her office building, she is freaking out. And her boss, he plans to keep her, as is. And when her boss's best friend shows up to help him, he can't help it, he switches sides to help Viola against his BFF. So that's how we meet Sergei. And Sergei really doesn't want anything to do with any queen, ever, because of his past. I totally side with him on this one. But neither of them can stay away from each other. She wants him, and he wants to protect her. But things always get complicated.

This one is just as good as the first, and we get to see some of our favorite characters from that book. I loved this new little posse working together to help the queens, and keep the old queens from over ruling what's right. And meeting new hunky dragons. LOL But this one, the bad guys are definitely more... just more. I can't tell you without spoiling things. And we learn even more about this world the author created. I am totally in love with this series and I can't wait for more!! 5 AWESOME DRAGON PAWS!!

Viola Pierce’s day suddenly becomes a bit surreal as she shifts into a Dragon Queen and because the dragon court is ruthless, she has to fight for her life…but what doesn’t kill Viola will make her more dangerous in this spectacular paranormal romance.

Sergei hates Queens but something about Viola has him bonded to her for life and the reader can’t help but get caught up in all the excitement as Viola and Sergei fight for their lives while struggling with a growing attraction neither could have imagined. The chemistry sizzles from every page while the attraction continues to grow but trust issues from both of their pasts keeps the relationship from being all it could be and that’s not taking into consideration all the outside influences that hamper this romance. Strong, commanding characters grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, action and romance.

Anticipation builds as Viola finds herself in an unsettling predicament and her boss trying to take full advantage of it while lots of spine tingling excitement keeps readers on the edge of their seats as her new status becomes known to allies and enemies alike and things go from unsettling to downright chaotic with enemies coming from every direction. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images that make it easy for the reader to become enmeshed in the story while the intriguing events draw them in and guarantee that there is never a dull moment.

This is an exhilarating read that I couldn’t put down, I especially liked Viola’s differences and the way the story came together for her and Sergei. The world is fascinating, complex, has some interesting and unusual elements that makes for a refreshing change and sexy dragons and I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this enticing world.

Initially, this book got off to a rocky start with me. I loved the first book and was really looking forward to reading this one, but Viola was kind of hapless. However, as the book went on, she grew into her strength and turned into quite a badass in her own way. As for Sergei, he was definitely a rough/tough growly hero and was bound and determined to resist falling for her due to his own history. I also found it really cute how Viola's dragon "hoard" and a big piece of the plot was centered around her hobby of knitting. Because she was a knitter, her actions and her strengths made sense.

I love books featuring dragon shifters and what I loved initially about this series is that the dragon aspect of the characters isn't just window dressing - the characters actually do act like dragons. They are ruthless, calculating, strong and avaricious. The guys are very alpha and sometimes not very nice. There is also a dichotomy in their culture in that they worship their queens and obey them without question because there are so few of them, but at the same time, the queens are little more than glorified brood mares because there are so few of them and their primary purpose is to breed more little dragons.

My biggest issue with this book, and the reason I didn't like it quite as much as the first, was that the world-building seemed a bit muddled and I was sometimes a bit confused over what was going on. Still, I'm definitely going to continue reading the series. I love the humor, the dragon aspects, and I'm enjoying all of the characters. This is not a book that can be read as a stand-alone though. Even though I'd read the first book, I found myself a bit lost at times, and I think it would be very confusing since the author does only a very minimal recap of the first book.

There are only 5 dragon queens in the world & each holds sway over their personal court in land they claim as their own. But one of the Queens successfully breaks the curse that had stopped new Queens from emerging, unwittingly losing her life in the attempt & suddenly Queens are emerging everywhere.

One such is Viola who shifts into a 3 headed dragon – a horse head which represents her “good” side & a goat head – her evil side plus her own dragon head. When her boss who is also a dragon thinks to keep her trapped in the building where she shifted so as to claim her as his mate; Viola is helpless until she is saved by a dragon task force & put under the protection of Sergei.

But half the turned Queens have disappeared & only Viola seems to be able to sense them in the weave – the place where the dragon’s get their power.

I didn't find anything particularly likable about Viola that could make me warm to her. She seemed if nothing else, rather a loser. She had been married & worked to put her husband thru Med school only to have him leave her for a nurse – AFTER she’d paid for his degree. In her next serious relationship, her boyfriend leaves her after milking her for everything he could get.

She’s fixated on knitting; all you need to do is mention her yarn & she goes all gooey eyed or falls into a rage if it’s her yarn in danger of being burned/stolen/unraveled *rolls eyes*. It was rather over done if the author was thinking to make that “cute”. Her language & mannerism were for me, just too overdone; made me think of angsty teenage American. Probably why I avoid reading contemporary. Do real people actual speak in such a way?

Not my kind of book.

While I didn't hate this book I have absolutely no qualms in saying, I definitely didn't like it.

The thing that makes it really difficult to review this book is that there were some aspects of it that I did really like.

Some of the dialogue was really funny, the main character endearing and her hero complex, and overall it was an interesting concept.

But, for me it got to the point were I felt like the author was bipolar she jumping to that many extremes.

And it really was to the detriment of the story, every time something like this happened it made me ask, ok where are we going now rather than think oh a twist.

I think that the story became too convoluted with the author trying to fit in all of her ideas and this, to an extent, also applied to the characters.

At points it felt like some of the leads were being written by two different people which just made things even more confusing.

I do think that there will be a number of people who like this series, maybe the YA crowd as I think this is who some of the dialogue is geared towards.

And although I definitely think there is potential for improvement here, for me this isn't a series I'll be carrying on with.

Also as I was provided with a review copy of this book I missed out on book one but while not going into too much detail I think book two pretty much covers all of the required background so it isn't detrimental if you miss it out.

Basically there are about 5 dragon queens in the realm that is story is in and each hold power over the court they “live” in. One is Viola who shifts into a 3 headed dragon-- a horse head which represents her “good” side & a goat head – her evil side plus her own dragon head. What can I say about Viola—hmm—DOORMAT—she worked to put her husband thru medical school but he cheated on her and left her for a nurse after he got thru medical school. Then after her divorce, her boyfriend she was with took her for everything he could. It was like she had no real redeeming qualities. Then she had this weird thing about knitting-she would go insane if her knitting was harmed. I do not know if this was supposed to be this way , like a character setup but this heroine drove me nuts. Sergei is such a alpha dragon, and I liked him but Viola could have been tamed down a bit or given a bit more sassiness to make up for her doormat –like qualities. Would I read this author again, yes but did I like this book? No. I did like the Hero so that is why I did give it the rating I did.
My rating: 2.5 stars **

An ARC from netgalley for an honest review.

I really liked this book. I liked the characters and story. I loved the fact that even though She was newly turned she didn't allow people to walk all over her. She waded into battle when needed and never left anyone behind. She followed her own rules without being overly offensive about it. And she told you about yourself whether you wanted it or not. So I'm definitely a fan.

Description from back of book,Story:

Courts, queens, and sexy dragons with wings...

Viola Pierce has never had particularly great luck with guys. That is, until the day she shifts into a glorious, deadly, three-headed dragon. As it turns out, Viola is a dragon Queen. But when she's abducted by a greedy dragon who wants to breed with her, Viola begins to realize the dragon world is filled with betrayal, deception, intrigue, and danger...

As a rule, Sergei hates Queens, but Viola's beauty and humanity reach something deep within him. Something he should not be feeling. When she names him her protector and consort--quite by accident--Sergei has no choice but to accept. Now they are bonded for life...with a growing attraction neither of them could have imagined.

But the dragon court is ruthless...and what doesn't kill Viola will only make her more dangerous

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

And as always…Happy Reading!!:)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In the world of Emerging Queens, dragons are the celebrities du jour. Humans who shift into dragons are at the top of the heap and, as one would suspect, dragon politics and power plays abound. When a curse is lifted, unlucky in love administrative assistant Viola Pierce finds herself shifting into a three-headed dragon queen at the most inopportune time. Dragon queens are the key to survival of the species, and they’re rare. In need of protection against users and abusers, Sergei is charged with being Viola’s protector. For his part, Sergei detests dragon queens. With a troubled past of his own, Sergei must set aside his own prejudices to help an otherwise clueless Viola survive.

The Queen’s Flight is a fantastic read. I entered this series at book two, but I don’t feel that disrupted the reading experience. Original, romantic, and clever, this book is a great story. The action erupts immediately and doesn’t let up until the ‘tail’ end. Viola is strong and witty. I loved that she is a real woman, with real curves, as a human, and a lethal powerhouse as a dragon. Sergei’s gruff biker demeanour was on point and he’s a well-written fit for his assertive queen. Viola and Sergei’s romance is explosive and erotically written. This series has a great foundation concept with loads of storytelling potential.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC but that does not colour my review in any way.

Viola is working late in the office. The dragon shifter, who is her boss is the only other one there. There is a dragon queen, one of only five in existence making the news at some kind of ceremony. Viola only finds out later that it was that ceremony that changed her, and many other women's lives forever. It also put many lives in danger, especially hers. The change comes to Viola quickly and she is trapped in an office that is suddenly too small for her new dragon body. She has no idea how to change back to human.
Sergei answers a cryptic call from a friend, only to find a new dragon queen trapped. He knows what it's like to be held against your will. So even though he hates dragon queens he will do all he can to help. Protecting Viola will be the most frustrating task he has ever taken on.

This book is laugh out loud funny. Viola's reaction to her new body and the way she deals with the whole split personality side of it had me in stitches. Sergei is a very sexy dragon but has a real bad attitude. With good reason. There is a fantastic story line, with bossy overprotective males and extremely strong and sometimes evil females. But for me it is all Viola's character(s) that make the story special.

Take this book to a quiet corner and settle in. Ignore all the strange looks you will get for giggling to yourself. I loved every page. So much fun.

The first book in this new series, The Queen's Wings, I apparently took major exception to the blurb not matching the book. (Those things due tend to aggravate me.) This time, it wasn't an issue, in large part because I didn't bother to read it. I saw the cover, the author and series and grabbed on with both hands.

The story starts with Viola as just another human working for the dragons. She has always had what she calls the angel and devil on her shoulders, giving her an internal monologue of snarky guidance in her everyday decisions. Imagine her surprise when the power of the Queen's are released (see ending of The Queen's Wings) and suddenly she is a dragon with 3 heads. Yep, that's right, those little voices aren't so internal any longer and she's stuck in dragon form. Too bad the dragon she was working for decides that a Queen appearing in his office means he should get to keep her - even if she emphatically does not want to be kept.

Many of the characters from book one are back. There is more world building done and I can really see something special coming together. I couldn't help but chuckle over what Viola's hoard was and the length's she would go to protect it. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one. I gave this book 4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Entangled for the opportunity to read and review this book.

**New author alert** This is the first book I've read by the author and it was okay. I had a hard time reading this book but pushed myself to continue to read it. The writing for me need more in order to get me fully interested in the story. This is a fantasy book. This is a book about queen dragons and other female dragons.

Viola Pierce was living life the best she could until one day she shifted into a dragon. She doesn't know anything about the dragon's life and to find out she is a queen dragon just makes it more confusing for her. She is held captive with her current boss until a rescue team comes. Now Viola needs to find out everything she can about herself and the curse so she can help other queen dragons. Queen dragons are important as they keep the race going.

Sergi swore he would never protect another queen dragon after everything he went through. Now that he helped rescue Viola he can't help feel something for her. Now Sergi must put his despise of queen dragons to the side and protect Viola from everything. He will stop at nothing to protect Viola and when it comes time finally give in to the attraction, it's a very passionate experience.

This book just need more information on the race of the queen dragons and what it meant for all of the dragons. You needed more knowledge for the story.

This is the second book in The Emerging Queens series, and whilst you can read it as a standalone, I do feel that it would have been better to have read book 1 first.

In this book, a spell preventing female Queens from shifting has been broken, which means that women who thought they were human, have suddenly changed into any sort of dragon. Viola is one such as this, and she has changed into a Chimera dragon - complete with three heads.

There is a lot going on in this book, which is one of the reasons why I think it would be better to have read book 1, and they are not all tied up when this book finishes. You are left with quite a few unanswered questions - for example, why all the dragon smooshies? Was Smythe involved with the smuggling?

I did love Viola and how she busted her way through dragon politics and traditions. For her to see the weave and equate it to her knitting was a stroke of genius, the same as yarn being her hoard instead of gold or gems. Having known quite a few 'hookers', I can completely understand this aspect of her dragon nature!

Fun, fast-paced and quirky, this book is also hot between the sheets. Definitely recommended for fans of dragon shifters.

* I received this book from Entangled Publishing / NetGalley in return for a fair and honest review. *

Likes:
+ Dragons. A lot of different breads. For example: Viola (heroine) has three heads. :)
+ Viola likes to knit, drives a Harley and is a busty blonde. She is a mix of interesting interests. I loved her personality. Even more in dragon form where she had real representation of a devil and an angel on her shoulder.
+ Realistic. Heroine turns into a dragon but does not immediately know to do everything.
"You must have seen this done in movies."
"I've also seen someone fly a jet, but that doesn't mean I have my pilot's license."

Dislikes:
- I felt like I dropped in the middle, like there is a background story. Later I found out, The Queen's Flight really is book #2 in series.
- I didn't feel the attraction. Hero was not sexy to me.
- Sex scene descriptions felt mandatory, not like they really belong in the plot.
- After first intercourse, it's more sex then anything else. Too bad since I loved the world and characters.

I loved the world-building and different dragon breeds in this quirky urban fantasy novel. Too bad it had so many sex scenes.

I really liked this book. Sergei and Viola were a great dragon couple. Viola has had terrible luck with men. She hates her life and then all of a sudden: BAM -- she shifts into a dragon queen and now every male dragon is interested in her because dragon females are very rare.

They're rare because this cult has been using a blood ritual to stop the queens from shifting and being born. In the last book, The Queen's Wings, the curse was ended. But the cult is back and Viola is on their radar.

Sergei hates Queens because he was tortured by one and would rather be left alone. But when Viola accidentally names him her protector, he has no choice.

The sex scenes are hot and the romance is sweet and believable. I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait for the next one.

I read the first book and fell in love. I'm not sure why my review has a more limited like this time. I think I needed a bit more detail. Viola and Sergei's attraction and bond are not surprising. He hates queens but the bond is there never less. The dragon's must protect their queens because of course greed and violence is also a part of world and queens are few.

I enjoy the sassy dialogue and I liked Viola's character but I still felt something missing in this book. No matter I will see what happens in the next book. I feel this series has something to offer.

What I loved about this book is that it has the perfect blend of romance and suspense. There is a dragon's fire hot chemistry between Viola and Sergei, but theirs is not an easy road for sure. Just so happens that Viola is one of the dragon queens and there's a bad guy that wants to breed her against her will. Then there's Sergei issue with dragon queens that makes him want to run in the other direction. At the same time he wants Viola and will protect her. I really enjoyed their story.

I give The Queen's Flight 4 hearts!

This story was great! I really enjoyed reading and can see myself rereading it in the future. I loved all the characters in this story and enjoyed the story line. Its amazing the details that were involved in this. I loved the action of it, how it was funny in some areas and the excitement of the adventure from the moment in started to read it. I love how there was a curse involved until it was broken then the queens started to change everywhere they were. I look forward to more from this author. If you love romance and dragons then this is the story for you.
