In a future world that is ruled by dragon shifters, fertile women are scarce. They are so scarce that women capable of having children are now often cryogenically frozen for centuries in order to help future generations reproduce.
Curvy Vivian Mason was one of those women who was frozen hundreds of years ago and now it is time for her to be MELTED.
Dragon Commander Jackson Wallace is in urgent need of an heir and he demands that Vivian is melted and awakened in order to produce one for him.
Now, with no memory of how she even got there Vivian has no choice but to go along with whatever her new mate demands.
No matter how bad, rough or naughty it might seem...
Can Vivian produce the baby dragon that Jackson so demands? And what might happen when she finally remembers who she was before she was MELTED?
WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS MANY SEX SCENES AND SHOULD ONLY BE READ BY A MATURE AUDIENCE 18+
Amira Rain is a popular author of a shifter and paranormal romance.
When she is not writing she enjoys dancing and going to the theatre. One of her big passions in life is chocolate and she has an irrational fear of spiders. So much so, that even a photo of a spider will scare her.
This was a very enjoyable book, I really liked it a lot. It has a great story line, and relatable characters. It was a story you don't want to stop reading cuz it's bedtime, or you need to get dinner cooked.
I saw the word dragon shifters and had to read because it was (or maybe still is) a free e-book. Thank good it was short because this book was definitely not my cup of tea.
After reading the summary, I picked up this free ebook in hope of a "so bad, it's good" moment, but ended up with something that's just bad. Ignoring the fact the text was rife with grammatical errors and godawful prose, the story was just weird.
But first, let's let the writing speak for itself: "'Stop being sorry. Just thank me for the cap by giving me permission to wipe those two tiny droplets of water from your collarbone. One is a droplet of water that fell from your hair, and the other is a tear that fell from your eye when you were talking about your home. I just want to wipe them both away. Please say yes.'"
"'I wanted to watch you sleep a while longer because you look so unbelievably gorgeous when you're asleep--as you do when you're awake--but I also didn't want to be a creep.'"
"I picked it up and read a note written on the back, which read: Sleeping beauty [sic], Considering how extraordinarily naughty you were last night with your giggling, I'm not quite sure if you deserve these, but I wanted to give them to you anyway. Affectionately, though still actively planning your court martial, Jackson." [From now on, I will sign all of my correspondence this way]
It's that bad, comrades.
And then the author went on to write about a dozen additional books set in the same world. God save us all.
Achingly predictable and sappy told partially in first person by lead character Vivian Mason. Vivian and dragon shifter Jackson's obvious attraction leads to obvious situations for whence she was "melted.” Vivian is whiny and Jackson is non-descript. Celeste and Irene offer very little in comic relief. Characters need much more development. This is not a bad story really, it just lacks any spark, passion, excitement or suspense. There are many editing issues as well. Thus ends the Melted series for me. No need to read any further. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.
A nuclear bomb wipes out nearly all life on Earth and only North America remains. With newly formed shifters emerging due to the fallout and a serious decline in the fertility rate among women the government has asked fertile women to be cryogenically frozen until such time as they maybe need. Vivian is one of the women who volunteer. When she is revived hundreds of years later she has amnesia and is told she is to be the mother of General Jackson's heir. After the great Dragon Wars Canada went to a dark heartless sect of dragons while the good Dragon, Lion, and Bear shifters along with unaffected humans bond together forming the USF with five major cities the capital being where NYC once stood called D.C. for Dragon City. Jackson is a the sexy leader of the UFS (United Free States) and a dragon shifter. With constant threats of attack from the North and less Dragons in the UFS he needs an heir to become the next leader when he dies as leadership pass down through bloodlines. Jackson has chosen Vivian to be his mate but she wants more than to be an incubator for an heir. Jackson is more drawn to her then he has every been to another woman and Vivian no matter how she fights at get butterflies whenever Jackson is near but can they overcome why they've been brought together. Vivian starts to remember her abusive ex Daniel. Daniel is dangerous abusive and has managed to survive and now he knows where Viv is and as he's told her before she will never get away. A standalone with no cheating and a HEA
Better than I thought! I read this thru KU. I am always hesitant to read dragon shifter novels, as my experiences with them have been particularly bad. However, this book had very few grammar errors (a pet peeve of mine) and a decently paced plot (I never had the desire to skip over any parts or pages). The beginning was outstanding; I really felt the heroine waking into the strange new world was well written even including some humor. I only gave it a 3 though because the story dived off into hokey with the time travel and the ex. Had the author spent more time on developing the relationship between the primary couple and simply had an evil motivator that made sense (we want to destroy your women to further hinder your survival or a personal grudge between hero and villain, or something) it could have been much better.
***** SPOILER***** Also, I would have liked to see the author further explore the fact that the hero was born Gorgolian. That fact was dropped and then dead-ended but it could be a major thing for the couple's relationship.
I thought there would be more steamy scenes than the book actually had. The writing of them was actually pretty good and the description of the main male character was definitely sexy and swoon worthy. I feel like the book itself was rushed from start to finish though trying to get everything compiled into the page amount it was given. I would’ve enjoyed it more had it been longer with more development between the characters, plot and villain/final battle.
The plot continued to thicken pretty late into this novel. I had to read til the end to find out what happens to Vivian and if she ends up staying. There are a few things I feel they left out especially after a nuclear war of that proportion there would be such residual radiation.... but I guess that was part of the world building. There was great chemistry from the characters and a bit of insta love at least on the mans part. It was worth the read but I'm not sure it got me hooked on the whole series
I certainly was glad that I kept reading 📚 this book! After being thawed out Vivian finds out that she isn't in Kansas anymore.exactly who is this commander Jackson Wallace? To Vivian there's no place home! Or is there?
A great war occurred and the world was thrown into chaos. As a result of the damage done to the atmosphere, the female inhabitants’ reproductive system no longer functioned. Many women were tested and only a few were able to reproduce. Scientists wanting to save humankind began a program to freeze the willing women to be woken when they were needed. In Melted by the Dragon, author Amira Rain, delves into time travel and a paranormal world where nothing is the same as Vivian Mason remembers it to be. She was cryogenically frozen for several hundred years. Commander Jackson Wallace needs Vivian to produce an heir to take over his leadership. Their journey is fascinating and adventurous and you do not want to miss it.
Jackson is a dragon shifter and Commander of the United Federation of Shifters. He protects his people from the Gorgolians. He wakens Vivian and hopes to produce an heir. He finds the beautiful female is exactly what his heart desires. But, Vivian has no memory of her past and bits and pieces of the person she was before she was frozen. An enemy from long ago surfaces and Vivian is thrown into the new world searching for her place.
Amira Rain has created a beautiful romance with her main couple. The allure, chase, and unknown enable the reader to understand the plight each individual goes through. Irene and Celeste are secondary characters that I truly adore. Wonderfully written and welcome addition to my paranormal eBook library!
I've never read a dragon shifter book and this was free. Darn my twitchy one-click finger! I quickly realized that this book was not for me (and skimmed the rest) due to, but not limited to, the following:
-lots of speeches and monologuing rather than actual dialogue. Who talks like this, especially what guys talk like this?
-massive info dumps, often through the above speeches, um I mean "dialogue"
-Which means we're told everything rather than shown anything
-flowery language during sex scenes using words like manhood, pole (which had many descriptives like tent, hard strong etc in front of it) rod, folds, most intimate spot etc. I know there were more horrendous terms but I've forgotten them now.
-The couple falls in love but has never truly spent any time together. Every dang time they got together the hero gets a call or has to go out and do some defending interrupting them. There was absolutely no real development other than buckets of lust and the hero making flowery declarations or gifts to the heroine which somehow ?? led to them falling in love. All I got was attraction because to fall in love a couple has to actually spend time together. Daydreaming does NOT count! Attraction is NOT love. Having a guy buy you gifts does NOT equate to love. People telling us how perfect and wonderful the guy is does NOT make someone fall in love. Love takes interacting and time!!!
-There were other elements that made this not a good fit but those are the basics.
Typical. No surprises at all. Everything was so predictable and I was super bored through the book. I read the whole thing because I wanted to like it but it just got more disappointing as I kept reading. I was confused as to when and how they fell in "love." I skipped most of the sex scenes cos they were so bland. The most interesting things about the book were blown away and those were the actual premise of the freezing and the dragons, the villains story, and her relationship with Celeste. I cared more about Vivian's relationship with Celeste than with Jackson cos she and Celeste spent way more time together TBH.
Jackson was too perfect, too loved and yet again another Prince Charming. Vivian was just bland as well. Super pretty (so we are told), "strong" (so we are told). Couldn't stop rolling my eyes and cringing at some of the lines in the book. I only read it cos I read reviews that claimed it was different from other Paranormal Romances my fault for believing. We were just spoon fed all the information, there was no showing just telling. The battles were fought away from our eyes, it started and then it ended (just use your very wild and active imagination to imagine the battles, rolls eyes). The villain was the only interesting character tbvh, as crazy as that might sound to some people.
Overall: A bland book with an interesting premise that fell flat on delivery and had some minor editing issues that were just so obvious. Everything was too obvious and there was absolutely no surprise or anything.
Melted By The Dragon by Amira Rain is a Paranormal Romance. It is very badly written. It starts off well then quickly deteriorates. This book is in severe need of the mighty 'Blue Pencil'. Punctuation of conversations need correcting. The conversations themselves are also dull and repetitive. Often infantile. Overuse of the word 'Well' at the beginning of conversations. Due to improper punctuation it is difficult to know who is speaking and when a conversation is over. A lot of mundane and unnecessary information about absolutely nothing. Over explaining information we already know and not enough action. Sentence's that need editing (as in delete words) and better structure needed. Paragraphs that run on and on, but don't do anything for world nor character building. After the 1st couple of chapters it became extremely difficult to continue reading. And that is a real shame. There is a good story sitting here. But it is so bogged down in problems you just lose interest. This book was definitely not ready for publishing.
A totally different shifter story, but nonetheless engaging, as there were some interesting scenarios throughout the book. Because she was fertile, Vivian was cryogenically frozen for over three centuries. When she wakes up in a land of dragons and has no recollection of her previous life, she finds it difficult to comprehend - more so when she is told she has to produce a child with Jackson, the Commander in charge. Jackson needs an heir and tells Vivian he went back in time, and purchased her to bear his child, seeing her as committed, bold, confident, fearless and beautiful. Little did he know then that she was just a coward, trying to flee an abusive relationship. Vivian makes up her mind she will only have a baby with a man she loves and who loves her; but Jackson offers her an interesting compromise. As Vivian regains odd recollections of her previous life, she realises that her deranged boyfriend, Daniel Stone, was now Drago Stone, leader of the Gorgolians and he has revenge in mind for Vivian. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The world has changed greatly over the years and the women are infertile. So the women that were frozen over 100 years ago are being thawed out so that the dragons can have the heirs they need to carry on their dragons.
Vivian.Mason is being thawed out under the orders of Colonel Jackson Maxwelll so that he can have the heir needed to carry on his blood line. With Vivian not having any memory he is having a hard time convincing her to have his baby.
Amira Rain wrote this book in order to capture the reader and to keep the reader interested in the book. She has the reader so enthralled in the story of Jackson and Vivian as they come to grips with the war going on and the gradual release of Viviane' s fears and the growing feelings of Jack and Vivian for each other.
Wonderful story of love, and the sex don't hurt. I recommend you read it.
Ok , where to start. This is going to be a hard one for me. First off I loved the story outline. Girl wakes up to a new word where there is shifters. But that is where I stop loving it. I did read it all , only because I thought , maybe it will get better. Then it became , well heck lets see the whole train wreck. The thought that no one really tells her everything , it comes in strange awkward conversation. Then the constant arguing from the heroine. I mean come one lady, I mean I know it is a shock but darn. And then boom , the bad guy is over 300+ years old and I get he is unable to die but why only the bad. And won't the shifter who was born "bad" but turned good be immortal also since he was born bad? It was just too much in the question part. A little...no a lot of reworking and this could be the bomb. But right now it just bad.
Author Amira Rain 's Melted series is addictive and mesmerizing. A futuristic world with shifters. Shifters bought about after a nuclear disaster. A disaster leaving majority of all women unable to bear children. Freezing some of those still able to have children. Vivian was one of those women, just she can't seem to remember all the details. Awakening unbelievably cold in a new world to be told that she was to provide an heir for Commander Jackson just had to be a dream, especially seeing that the Commander is a dragon in a city full of dragons. Can she wake up from this dream and embrace it? If you are a lover of the paranormal then open the pages of Vivian and Jackson 's story and experience the roller-coaster of emotions "Melted By The Dragon" offers. I am sure glad I did! ! ! !
Interesting look at the dystopian future, where a nuclear blast triggered a latent gene, turning survivors into Dragon shifters, and time travel to add to the mix. I liked the strong and independent spirit of Vivian, determined to be more than a 'bought and paid for womb' as she phrases it. She wants more, and even if everything she ever knew is gone centuries ago, she wants to face it all on her own terms. Even Jackson, the man who ensured she survived being cryogenically frozen to be the mother of his heir. The clashes between them are epic, but all comes right when he finally realizes what it will take to win Vivian to his side.
This is an exciting story with a lot of twists. The characters were well developed and realistic. The plot was dense with a lot of stuff going on and the exposition of the back story parsed out over chapters. There was a little bit of drag in a few places but overall the pace was steady and easy to follow. I loved the idea of the bad guy being in both places and also the idea that the women were stronger than they thought they were. This was a really good story that you should definitely want to read!
This story had a good plot, but there was a bit of page filler in there to drag out the story. My least favorite part was the fact that Vivian bargained a deal with a baby. Not good, and I almost stopped reading after that. I did finish the book but there were so many missed opportunities to have chemistry between the couple and make this a hot sexually tension filled book, but it came up short. The end was anticlimactic. Average read.
instead of having Dragon wars, America had aliens on the show. cities were destroyed and shanty town cities were built. they had st. Louis, which is now called Defiance and America has a new military unit. the city is called Defiance because they refuse military rule. this book was good and different rather than just usual shifter book becaust a woman gets frozen to escape her current situation, but it reminded me of the show.
When I first started reading this story I was really enjoying it. Sure its nothing knew and the concept has been done before. But I really liked our main character, she is a very strong female lead considering her circumstances.
What really let the book down for me was the very rushed and in my view very unrealistic ending. Had the author fleshed this out a lot more it would have put really good.
This book has touches of the future and romance between a Dragon shifter and a human whose been in a cryogenic tank for 300 years. We see her trying to make sense of the life she's been thawed out in and the Dragon shifter that has had her thawed in contemplation her carrying his heir. It is a cute short book that I'd recommend.
Interesting twist on the future of mankind. Would have given 5 stars but all of Vivian's whining just got to be annoying, thankfully she gets better and more enjoyable to read about. He on the other hand was thoroughly enjoyable to read about. The supporting characters were greatly entertaining. Check out for yourself and see how you like it.
After reading the reviews...negative and positive...I was expecting a terrible story with a horrific heroine. What I found was a beautiful dragon shifter romance. If you area fan of this genre do read this. The world building was great and the premise was great. I would definitely read more from this author
First, I love dragon shifter stories and the premise was promising. But it just doesn't quite hit the mark. The style of writing just isn't up to par. It is hard to explain, but the character's first person narrative is like reading a teenager's diary. I did finish the book but was left with no vested interest in looking into more of this author's work.
