FOUR HEARTS--Come along with me won't you? Join me in the tropey goodness of Unshakable Faith.

Because I'm still huffing the fumes of this OTT treat. If I had to quickly describe this book (or should say experience), it's like a sexier Dreamspun Desires title on meth.

*stares at the fumes*

This was an experience of tomfoolery, unrealistic actions, hot sex, door slamming, jealousy, pounding, almost cheating, shattered hearts, a punch that saves all ills and the sweet cracky fluff.
And did I mention the sex?

Because the trip to Poundtown was so fruitful, it cured all woes.

Not mad at it all.

If you're looking for escapism, look no further. Not my first Lisa Worrall, so I knew ahead of time to expect some over the top-ness. Not disappointed.

It all starts on a fateful day in a San Antonio bar owned by secret rich boy (and humble) Brody Tyler. He's a gentle giant, 6'4" with a soft heart for those in need. Enter the most beautiful man with green eyes, Nash. Nash doesn't remember who he is, only knows he was attacked three months ago and his body is riddled with scars and a nurse named him Paul. But it doesn't feel right. What should the sweet bartender do? Why offer him a job and a room in his home, of course.

I see the eye rolls from here. ;P

Not Paul renames himself Nash. Amnesia Nash is so sweet. He is grateful for the help and befriends the bar workers including Wyatt, Brody's best friend and the best goddamned secondary character in this novel. (I'll get to Wyatt's awesomeness later). Brody is obviously attracted to Nash but tries to be a friend. It's Nash who makes a move after a few weeks in a hot possessive glory.

I was getting Calmesian feels at that point, all systems are a go.

What more could happen to mess with that fluff bubble?

A killer plot! Someone knows who Nash really is and wants him dead!

And the killer is sloppy (obviously since the first go round didn't work) and sloppily attempts to get Nash again.

So now Nash is in the hospital for a second time and now he remembers everything before the first incident but not the last six months.

And the real Nash? He's an asshole. I cursed not having the ability to reach through the book (I read along and listened to the audiobook) and smack the ever living shit out of Nash. Nash is a wealthy businessman with a heart made of coal. And he enjoyed himself.

I wondered how the author was going to pull these two men together with Nash not having any memory of being booed up and now having the jerk quality about him. Enter tropey plot device a la: bodyguard/ward twist. Brody haphazardly ends up being Nash's bodyguard (yes without having any experience or training) You just have to leave reality with me for this one.

Here, have a hot dog.

Have a few.

Asshole Nash + Fake Bodyguard Brody + Sloppy As Hell Murder Plot + Secrets = DRAMA!

There was enough drama for me, you and the entire world. Between the narrator's over-acting and this crazy ass plot, I was HIGHLY entertained!

I'm going to have to disagree, Tim Gunn. Yes, do that! Do that please!

It was like reading about teens at times. What with the emotions, tears, door slamming (seriously what was up with all the slamming of the doors?), brushes with death (so many...) and the weaksauce reason behind all the attempted murder, this book could go either way.

But it worked? Well for me anyway.

This was my first time listening to Sean Lenhart. The story is set in Texas and the narrator is clearly not from the South. I heard all East Coast even though he tried. It got to be distracting at first, then after reading the story while listening, I noticed there was an OTT-ness to it all. And Lenhart definitely did the thing with that. His crying, dramatic gasping and high emotion scenes sounded the same like the sex scenes. I laughed for all the wrong reasons. His Brody was great. His Nash? LOL wow. No, that accent was so bad it was good in a way. Overall, it fit the theme in a weird way. I rate the narration 3.75 Hearts. I'd give another book narrated by Lenhart a try.

Unshakeable Faith with all the crazy and cracky fluff, it got the job done. I looked forward to listening to the story. It was like a soap opera with all that it had going on. Is the story perfect? Far from it. There are plot holes scattered throughout, reality just doesn't exist here.

And then I reflect on the great moments: the mens' first time, the moment one of their heart shattered, the best punch scene that could've never happened... but I didn't know I needed until it happened.

Wyatt, Brody's BFF, does what I'm sure many readers of this book wanted to do. He's what a BFF stands for. He was Brody's conscience, always had his back and told it like it needed to be told.

I was here for Wyatt.

I am here for Brody and Nash. If this six year old book was a soap opera, I'd still be watching it to this minute.

Recommended if you don't mind fluff, cracky plots, sweetness, fluff and crazy.
Leave reality at the door.

2.5 can't-remember-a-damn-thing (and neither can Nash) stars

Contrived with a ridiculous, fantastical amnesia plot but kind of fun nonetheless, Unshakeable Faith is an 80s soap opera on speed. I don't expect complete medical veracity in fiction, but let's just agree that you can't get your memory back by being punched in the face.

Nash was such a jerk here; he had a personality transplant not once but twice, and in the end I still thought Brody got the worse end of the deal.

BUT: The sexy scenes were sexy. Wyatt, Brody's BF, was funny, and I liked Nash's mom.

Good for a totally brainless, don't-want-to-think-too-hard-cause-I'm-drunk read.

3.5 stars

Okay about 3/4 of the way through with this book I flopped back onto my bed and cracked my skull on my headboard. I'm 90% sure that the stars I'm seeing are related to my rating, but who knows? What I do know is that there was no sexy secret-millionaire bartender to take care of me, which I feel like is a great cosmic injustice.

But enough about that, let's talk about the book.

This book is like a cute guy you know from work who seems very sweet but a little "off". He keeps asking you out. Not in a creepy way, just in a very polite, respectful, sincere, give-me-a-chance sort of way. And the more persistent he is the more you start to second guess your first instinct that you two would just not work together. But even as your heart opens just a little you're nagged by the thought what will my friends think???

That's the way I feel about this book. I loved parts of it enough to want to give it four or even five solid stars … but then there were parts of it that annoyed me so much I started to feel embarrassed about liking the book.

To begin with: I LOVED the first part of it. Nash and Brody's relationship moves a little fast but is still very believable and INSUFFERABLY CUTE. omg these two, I'm not even kidding … your teeth will rot.

For the most part this works because Brody spends a lot of time perving on oblivious Nash and since Brody is a Good Guy™ it comes off as adorably slapstick instead of creepy.

It also works because you know what's coming (or you would if you read the blurb that is). You know Nash's memories are going to "reset" and there will be angst, possibly melodrama, pain, struggle, tears, etc.

I admit, if I didn't know that I probably would not have been able to handle a book where a grown man gives the love of his life both his fake-virginity (memory loss kiddies) and a PUPPY as gifts for his birthday. I mean that's a little much in the sweetness department. Bring me my insulin.

I should hate it, but I ate it up *lol* with both hands … and then shoved my face in to lick the bowl

The second half on the other hand … by this point Nash has already switched and Brody has decided to take a job as his bodyguard so that he can watch over him. This plot line was very appealing and started off pretty well done. I was impressed that Brody and Nash developed a slightly mean-spirited banter, I liked the sexual tension, but it went on far too long. I get that the author is trying to show Brody's determination slowly being worn down by Nash's acidic personality, but I don't think the impact of that was worth wearing down the reader's patience.

There were a few too many author-indulgent scenes where nothing really important happens, where Brody and Nash do something cute and/or sexy but neither one of them really changes their approach to the other as a result.

This is another one of those books where the plot (ie Pretty Woman if Richard Gere had Amnesia and Jason Alexander was much more of a psycho) is just there to give the characters something to do when they're not behaving like petulant children or eyefucking each other. You know the score: someone will flirt with an innocent bystander to make the other jealous, someone will get an eye-opening speech from a wise minor character (or three as the case may be), someone will try to sacrifice himself for their ~true love~. I can deal with all that, I just couldn't deal with it on a lather-rinse-repeat setting, which is what this book felt like by the end.

On the other hand it did make me cry ^_^

…Or maybe that was the concussion.

Brody inherited his Pappy's bar. Funny thing for a guy with an architect's degree, ready to start his career to do, but family comes first. So he puts his plans on hold and takes over the bar, building on the family success.

And one day in walks...well, he doesn't know his name. "Paul" is what they called him in the hospital, when he woke up there three months ago after being stabbed and beaten nearly to death. And with no memory of how he got there, who attacked him, or who he really is. He just knows when he overhears the doctor talking about transferring him to a long term care facility that he needs to get the heck out of there. Down to his last dollar, and with only the clothes on his back, he wandered in and met Brody.

When Brody hears the man's story, and sees how lonely (not to say handsome) he is, he makes a spur of the moment decision to offer him a job and a place to live. With him. When "Paul" accepts, Brody suggests he picks a name he might like for himself. He settles on...Nash,a name he sees in the newspaper.

Brody and Nash become good friends, and while Brody would like more, he doesn't know if Nash is gay. Hell, Nash doesn't either. Until he sees Brody being hit on, and Oh HELL no. He has to do something!

A couple of months later, they are in love. In a committed relationship. Even have a dog together. Then Nash runs an errand for the bar, and disappears. Brody and his friends frantically search for Nash for almost two weeks, then see him being taken away in a limo on tv. Seems he IS really Nash - Nash Walker, cutthroat businessman and millionaire. Who has been missing for six months. Who now has his memory back, and, it seems, now doesn't remember Brody. Nor, evidently, does he care to.

But Brody isn't willing to let Nash, his Nash go, that easily. When he tracks him down to his office, will Nash remember him, or will Brody be heartbroken one more time? And what lengths will Brody go to to get HIS Nash back?

Lisa Worrall has taken inspiration from "Random Harvest", a 1942 movie in which Ronald Coleman, a WWI vet with amnesia, falls in love with a singer only to have an accident, which restores his old memories only to wipe out his new ones. She has updated to story for a modern audience, added the "gay", but retained all the sweetness and romance of the original version.

And that is the very strength of this lovely, sweet and heartwarming reworking - the romance. Brody is a wonderful creation, tall, handsome, big-hearted and full of love for his man. And Nash, such an open and caring man, then so very closed off and harsh and cruel when he gets his memory back. What better thing to put between two men meant for each other than a broken version of one of them?

Brody is every guy's (and let's face it, gal's) dream - a big hung of a man who is willing to drop everything and chase after his man in the name of True Love. It takes talent to not make that a cliche - and Ms. Worrall has that in spades. She wields a light touch, adding in enough action - there is a sub plot involving the multiple attempts made on Nash's life - to balance the sweetness factor with some weigh. But she gets all so very very right here.

I also love the supporting characters - Wyatt can come live with me anytime. His unconditional acceptance of his lifelong friend, and eventual love of Nash is touching rather than the schmaltz it could have been. It was just so...right...what Ms. Worrall did with him, with Brody and Nash, and with all of the people in Nash's life.

This is a perfect book for this Christmas season. Unashamedly sentimental, loving, gentle, with a happily ever after for us to enjoy. Sit back, make some hot chocolate (or a cuppa for my English friends ), put your feet up and just enjoy. Because, trust me, sweet sweet lovin' doesn't get much better than this.

You've heard the expression one man's trash is another man's treasure, right?

Well this is a case of one man's burden...
Nash's father left him a company to run. Nash had other plans but he loved his father and so he pushed his dreams aside, closed his heart and became just another suit buying and selling other people's dreams. Fulfilling an obligation that becomes a heavier burden with each passing year.

is another man's blessing...
Brody runs a bar that he inherited from his grandfather. He was suppose to sell it and use the money to finance his dream but he loved his grandpa too much and his life plan changed...feeling blessed to keep this part of his grandfather alive and thriving.

This book was for me totally, unapologetically a treat from start to finish. 'Unshakeable Faith' just worked for me. Sometimes I just want a good story to take me out of my head and entertains me and that's what this one did...of course that meant spending a bit of time in Brody's head...which, was ok. I liked Brody, he was gregarious and from the sounds of it one sexy as hell dude with really bad taste in clothes...but, I have great taste when it comes to clothes so I could really help him out there. Brody was also giving and loving and loyal to a fault. I mean seriously when he loved this dude was all in. So yeah, in a nutshell I liked Brody...no scrap that...I loved Brody.

Now moving on to Nash...he was a little harder to love...at times and not nearly as safe to be around. Seems someone wants Nash out of the way, if he could just remember things...like who he is? where he's from? what he does for a living? You know just all those things that help a person carry on with their life. He might be able to avoid getting himself dead.

Thankfully, Brody doesn't care that Nash is a man who can't remember his past because Brody sees a man who needs help and he's kind hearted enough to offer that help. But then if you ask Wyatt, he'll tell you this is Brody's strength and his biggest weakness.

So just about the time Brody and Nash are driving the world crazy with how adorably cute and in love they are...guess what? Nash not only looses his memory...again, he disappears and when Brody finally catches up with him...it's not his Nash anymore. No this Nash is bitter and caustic and wants nothing to do with Brody, hell he has no clue who Brody is other than his bodyguard.

"Unshakeable Faith" was one hella' fun story and I found myself laughing out loud more than once either at one of the perpetual internal monologues that these men were constantly having with themselves or one of the conversations they kept trying to have with each other that frequently ended with one or both of them less than happy with the other.

And now for the audio portion of this review. Sean Lenhart was the narrator on this venture and I totally enjoyed his narration especially his interpretation of Nash. His slow easy drawl that definitely held a perpetual growl to it when Nash was angry, frustrated or both was awesome as was the snide tone that it developed when Nash as feeling sarcastic or condescending.

I have to admit I had a great movie rolling in my head as I listened to this one. Truth be told I was thinking Hallmark could do this one up right...now if we could just get them to boldly go where they've dared not go before and do a movie with a non-hetero couple. I'd watch it. Even if it did mean no on screen sex. The story is definitely strong enough that it could still be a good thing...a few good kisses and we're golden.

A lot happens in Unshakeable Faith.Brody,a sweet-natured all around Mr.Nice Guy falls for Nash,a man walking in his bar who - thanks to a vicious attack a few months before - has no idea who or what he is.Brody hires Nash on the spot as a bartender and the two men fall madly in love with each other.Too bad Nash turns out to be the romance version of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.After a second bout of amnesia, with the memory of his former life coming back but "forgetting" the past three months with the newfound love of his life Nash leaves poor Brody behind - back to being his old asshole-ish and ruthless self as the boss of a big company. Now Brody goes on a mission - hiring as a bodyguard for Nash and bound and determined to get HIS man back. Not an easy task...
Sweet love story with a bit angst thrown in - even blinked away one(or two)tears - a mystery, attempted murder, double amnesia, lovely family and friends - a very entertaining read.
I simply love it,when I get the "author enjoyed writing it"-vibe!

I read this book cover to cover. It was beautiful, sweet, loving, brutal, heartbreaking, mean and cruel. I felt every emotion under the sun.

You absolutely fall in love with both Brody and Nash...but then, after an "accident" or two, Nash gets amnesia and no longer remembers Brody or how much they love each other. Sweet Nash turns into an asshole. Brody's pain at "losing" Nash just broke my heart. It was so hard to read certain parts but I couldn't put it down. You hope they are able to salvage their relationship once Nash gets his memory back but worry that Brody has suffered too much and wouldn't be able to trust or forgive Nash. Never fear, he does, but damn it takes too long.

I thought this was a great story. I was pulled in right from the start with Nash's sad story and how much of a gentle giant Brody was. The beginning is so sweet and you just can't help but be happy because these guys are happy.

Nash walks into Brody's bar one day not knowing who he is, where he lives or how he got so many scars on his body. Brody, having such a big heart, takes Nash in, gives him a job and a place to stay. Desire and mutual attraction blooms between the two and after a spot of jealous they give a relationship a go. They're happy with each other and more in love than you can imagine. Until one day, Nash goes out to a warehouse and doesn't come back because he gets injured. Again. Waking up in another hospital, Nash doesn't remember the last 6 months of his life but now he does remember who he is and his family, he just doesn't remember Brody or the life they've created. Brody, when he learns of Nash's accident, does everything he can to see Nash, sure that Nash will remember him as soon as their eyes meet. Unfortunately for Brody, Nash doesn't remember a thing. On top of that, Nash is the biggest asshole around but Brody still sees a glimmer of the Nash he fell in love with so he holds onto the hope one day Nash will remember him. Until that day comes, Brody is mistakenly cast as Nash's bodyguard. Unsatisfied sexual tension, a desire to strangle Nash himself and the constant pain of Nash not remembering him brings Brody to the end of his rope but he still hangs around. That is until the moment when Nash realizes what Brody's been keeping from him and shatters the fledgling relationship they've just started to create.

I fell in love with all these characters. What Brody goes through just to be close to Nash is heartbreaking especially when he's reminded over and over that their love isn't enough to make Nash remember all they shared. Nash's constant sneering and snarling at Brody and just being an all around douche bag wears Brody down but he still sticks around because he loves Nash that much. Nash is such a sweetheart in the beginning. His confusion and jealousy over Brody was so adorable I couldn't help but smile and chuckle at it. When Nash loses the memories of his time with Brody was excruciating because he becomes such an arrogant ass that all you want to do is punch him because of his belligerent attitude. But, strangely, I still liked Nash. You saw glimpses of Brody's Nash here and there, which made connecting with both characters very easy.

The plot of the story revolves around the after affects of Nash's constant accidents and finding out that there is someone out there trying to kill him. It's about Nash's double amnesia and Brody's deception because he wants to be with Nash in any way possible. It's actually very sweet. We learn about these characters and see how Brody reacts to the 180 degree mood change Nash takes.

In all honesty, I loved this book. It was very easy for me to get caught up in it and not want to put it down. In some aspects, it is a bit unrealistic but I had no problems with that. In fact, that was one of the reasons I enjoyed this story so much. The only problems I had with the book were the fact that during the time Nash was back home (with his second dose of amnesia) he had no problems showing off his body and it was like the scars he got from his first life-threatening injury just disappeared, not to be mentioned again. Another thing was the fact that whenever one of these characters got injured, it was mostly forgotten about after five or ten pages. Then there was the fact that a dog was brought in but then only brought up when it barked. There was no taking care of him, petting him or just bringing him into the story at all. It was a bit sad. I didn't really have a problem with this but the family and friends in this book seemed way overly touchy. I've never seen or heard of people petting, kissing or touching as much as these characters did.

In the end, this was an awesome story. I had a few things that annoyed me but they didn't ruin the book for me. I loved the characters enough to want to read their quest for happiness even if it blurred the lines of reality at times. IMO, this had a great set of characters and a fun, sweet and at times angsty story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wouldn't be opposed to a sequel but more than that I loved Ms. Worrall's writing so I'll be looking forward to reading another book by her.

Stories about amnesia can be tricky because they can be too melodramatic. Personally, I think this is one of the enjoyable ones. Nash, suffers from amnesia not just once but twice. The first time is after he was knifed in an alley and being left to dead -- in which in this period, he meets Brody, a kind bar owner, and falls in love. The second time is when new!Nash was hit by a car (another attempt to kill him) and his 'old' memories return but he completely forgets about the time he spent with Brody.

The first 1/3 part of the book is sweet and lovey-dovey, as Brody and new!Nash is in love and happy. The last 2/3 part of the book makes me want to slap old!Nash though. He's such an arrogant asshole and he hurts Brody so much with his cold attitude. Sure, there's a glimpse of Brody's Nash, but most of the time, he is a jerk *pout*. However, I do find the story to be engaging, as I want to see how it ends, and I desperately want old!Nash to remember that he loves Brody. Brody is such a sweet bear, he doesn't have it in his soul to be revengeful. He believes in love and he is so devoted to Nash *hugs Brody*

There is one secondary character, Wyatt, Brody's straight best friend. I just LOVE this guy. He's a loyal friend to Brody and plays important role to how the story ends. An enjoyable read, for sure.

I was really enjoying this and then Nash lost his memory again. I did not like how Nashville behaved at all and it went on for a long, long time. Much longer than I enjoyed.

Paul/Nash wanders into Brody's bar. He's been hospitalized after a brutal attack and releases himself after a 3 month stay. He has severe amnesia and Brody takes him in, giving him a job and place to stay. There's some definite attraction at play that influences those decisions for Brody but he never acts on them.

Time goes by and Nash, the name he chooses for himself vs his hospital given name, fits in very well with Brody and his crew. The attraction grows and soon the two men become a couple, a very happy couple.

Tragedy strikes and Nash disappears. He reappears having no memory of his time with Brody but is instead a hardcore bastard of a man and businessman without conscience.

There is a large chunk of this story with Nash acting like a dick. I had a hard time liking his character after some the stunts he pulled. Still, the chemistry early on was sweet and strong enough to pull me through to the ending.

Overall a good read. The first part of the book is a sweet romance between amnesiac Nash and bar owner Brody. The two have great chemistry and are surrounded by a great cast of secondary characters.

The second part of the book however is Nash being an ass and Brody suffering through it. While I had a few niggles with the ridiculousness of the situation, Brody's unconditional love for a Nash so completely different for the man he once knew was heartbreaking.

Another well written book from Lisa Worrall.

Brody Tyler is a bar owner, a bleeding heart, and all around nice guy. One day, a stranger walks into his bar with no memory and nowhere to go. Brody decides to help him and offers him a job and a place to stay. The stranger chooses a name from the newspaper and, thus, Nash Walters is born. The two become fast friends and eventually lovers. Both are happily building their life together when tragedy strikes a second time and Nash is injured in a hit-and-run accident, resetting his memory once again. Nash now remembers exactly who and what he is but doesn’t remember Brody or the past six months of his life. The “old” Nash Walker is a ruthless businessman with a bottom line. He is used to getting what he wants and he has no qualms on who he steps on to get it. The police are concerned that someone is out to kill Nash and the family arranges for a bodyguard: enter Brody Tyler, who is determined to rekindle Nash’s memory of him and the life and love they shared.

I loved this book. I was wary of the double amnesia story line at first but in the end, I just rolled with it and the story absolutely worked for me. Brody and Nash are adorable and their friends-to-lovers story in the beginning was heartwarming. After everything goes tits up and the old Nash is back in full force, I found myself in awe at Brody’s love and dedication. (The book title is spot on, BTW.) The original Nash Walker is a total ass. The way he treated Brody sometimes broke my heart. Although Nash redeems himself in the end (I liked his groveling), he was a jerk for so long that it wore on me. But the secondary characters (Wyatt, Kristie, Willow, and Olly) really made for a well-rounded and robust story. I am not much of a re-reader but I am certain I will pick this one up again.

Bottom line: an angsty romp that is hot, hopeful, and utterly satisfying.

There's nothing wrong with this book, but it just didn't spark for me. The MCs are gorgeous and desireable, the premise has lots of potential (with the whole "I'll just get him to fall in love with me all over again" thing), the sex is explicit and well-written, but as a whole it just didn't grab me. Considering that Rider had me sobbing my heart out for three hours the night before I don't think it's because I'm getting jaded: I think it's the book. I even found myself checking my email half way through a sex scene. That's a first for me.

It's like the author had a checklist for a successful m/m novel:

Hot, straight blond best friend
Rich boy slums it as bartender
Cute-as-a-button younger sister (yeah, yeah, sure she's 18: you know she's written as 12)
Heart-of-gold devoted housekeeper
Older-but-still-attractive-Chanel-wearing-socialite mother
Amnesia (twice!)
Amazing renovated-loft love nest

and of course...

Younger version of Richard Gere from Pretty Woman rapaciously making money from cannibalizing companies, hiding tender true self beneath cut-throat hard-nosed tough-guy (but also a slut??) veneer due to promise to dying father, just waiting for redemption

But you can't put 'soul' on a checklist.

I even preferred the vaguely similar (but much shorter) Out Of the Past: The King of Pentacles

But then I can see everyone else reviewing it loved it, so maybe it is me.

Amnesia, not once but twice. A plot with more holes than my first attempt at knitting. (So. Many. Holes.) MCs flip-flopping personalities every chapter. About 100 more secondary characters than needed. An ending that leaves all the key questions unanswered.

Total rubbish.

I enjoyed the amnesia plot, both the original amnesia where Nash forgot his real life and the second case where he forgot his new life with Brody. It was an interesting scenario and posed some interesting questions. "How could you just accept someone's word that you loved them, when you had no memory of it? Didn't even remember knowing them?"

Brody is a wonderful and generous man. He is such a giving man, trusting Nash and offering him a home and his love. He won't give him up easily. Luckily he believes in their love and is persistent and forgiving as Nash turns out to be a real jerk, unlike the Nash who originally walks into Brody's pub after losing his memory.

When Brody first meets Nash, he is lost and alone but grateful for a job and a home. He is hardworking and obviously cares deeply for Brody. However, once he returns to his old life, it is very easy to dislike him, his character so different to the Nash that Brody fell in love with. His character was so well written that he appeared as two separate people which is appropriate given the circumstances.

Too much time was spent with Nash not remembering who Brody was and Nash's behaviour and actions were horrible. I hated the way he spoke to Brody and I definitely hated it when

Luckily there is enough background provided to explain Nash's situation and why he behaves the way he does. I am not 100% sure that I forgive him but at least can understand.

Wyatt is a fabulous character and a great best friend to Brody. One of the best scenes in the book is where Wyatt confronts Nash and provides him with a condensed version of Nash and Brody's love story.
"He told me about this man who wandered into a bar owned by this handsome bartender, how he told him his tale of woe and how the bartender took the lonely man into his home. Sounds bizarre, right? But it gets better, believe me. He said that, after a while, they fell madly in love and were the happiest couple in the land - until one of them disappeared."......

and my favourite line.........."you had him at 'hello, I've lost my memory and I don't know who I am.'

I wavered a lot on the rating for this one - I liked the story-telling style and Brody in particular was wonderful, but the plot had some of my pet peeves in it.

This book reminded me a little too often of the familiar romance story plots in M/F. But the MC's were engaging, the supporting characters were fun, the author pulled me into the characters' emotions in a satisfying way that was missing in some of my other recent reads, and I read the book pretty much straight through. So it averaged out to a four, and a nice romance read if you're in the mood for a real genre book.

Color me embarrassed. I cant believe i didnt review this sweet story. Those who know me know that Brody's big ass is what I been lookin for all these years. Nash was sooooo sweet.
Nashville sucked but when he remembered I forgave him in mere seconds. I couldnt help it. This story was great. A bit of mystery, some angst and some Lisa Worrall love ... Yeah... i wasn't ashamed to bust my wallet for this one

I wanna say so many more witty things about this one but Worrall's talents dont need my help.

It was beautiful story. Brody was wonderful, he risked all when he invited Nash to his life and he was willing to risk again to get Nash back. I liked the real, hidden Nash, he was so sweet and loving and I wanted to kick his ass (not only) when he became his alter ego, selfish and heartless bussinesman...

I highly recommend :)

This was a nice romance. Loved Brody and Nash in the beginning, really disliked Nash throughout a lot of the book when he changed. I wished we would have seen more at the end with them talking, but all in all it was an enjoyable book.

Hmmm.... how to rate and review this. I had to really think about it, the first part of the book I absolutely loved, loved Brody and Nash thought they were perfect for each other and I could really feel the chemistry between them it made me smile and the fact they didn’t rush their relationship really made it beautiful. But like all stories there has to be some drama and in this one it’s Nash being attacked and left for dead except he doesn’t die he ends up in the hospital and wakes up not remembering who he is or where he comes from. He runs from the hospital and ends up in Brody’s bar and their love story begins and a beautiful story it is.

This is where I had to forget reality and just go with the story. Nash has another ‘accident’ and wakes up in the hospital for a second time he suddenly has his memory back, just like that, coming back all at once except for the time he spent with Brody, that he doesn’t remember at all, so I tried to overlook it figured it would all work itself out but Nash turns into a complete ass! Boy did I dislike that man and poor Brody loves Nash so much that he is willing to go to him and do anything to get his Nash back even becoming his bodyguard trying to keep him safe from whomever is trying to kill him, waiting and hoping he will remember their love and the life the two of them had just started together and willing to take everything that ass Nash dished out, if I were Brody I would have decked him.

So I read on, I got involved with the mystery of Nash’s amnesia, couldn’t wait to find out all the details like who done it and why and even though I had my suspicions early on I didn’t let myself think about it too much just let the story take me there. Then Nash does the unthinkable, he ‘cheats’ on Brody, again I just wanted to deck him, Brody finding him with someone else broke my heart I bawled like a baby. So when Brody decides it’s not really ‘cheating’ because Nash doesn’t remember him, I think to myself, I guess I can go with that, I don’t like it but if Brody can do it so can I, how much more can sweet Brody take? OMG! Now comes another complete 180, Nash gets punched and all of a sudden BAM he remembers everything? All about Brody and their time together and how much they loved each other. This story really asked me to forget reality but I love these guys even when Nash was a complete ass, some part of him was still Brody’s Nash, I could see very small parts of that Nash come through once in a while. The secondary character’s were great and Brody’s friends/employees made me laugh.

Going into the end of their story Brody’s character suddenly seemed to change I’m not sure if that was on purpose, by accident or I just imagined it but to me he was no longer the strong, wonderful guy I fell for he became almost timid, was that on purpose? I thought of these two as equals both strong, fit and smart neither was more dominant than the other nor was there one more masculine than the other. That’s what really attracted me to these two. *sigh*

So this is my struggle, I love the guys. I liked the amnesia angle (the first one) really liked the mystery and how that ended. I didn’t particularly like the second bout of amnesia but I went with it, then it was over way too fast I wish there could have been just that little bit more to tie the story up better it felt kind of like a chapter was missing, but I love the way Lisa writes, her characters always seem real and they always pull me in, it’s just in this book some the situations surrounding those characters I had trouble with. So my rating is going to be based on what I loved about the story and how Lisa Worrall was able to keep me reading even with my reservations. It is a beautiful love story!

Brody and Nash. What can I say? One of my favourite couples in a m/m romance. Brody is the consummate good guy, he's everything anyone would want in a man and gorgeous to boot. I love everything about him.Nash, is a man of two halves. The amnesiac: kind hearted, funny, loving, generous and the man who Brody falls hard for and then there is Nashs' " true " self, post amnesia: selfish, cold, shallow and a hard hearted business man, all the things that the Nash, Brody fell in love with isn't .I loved the first part of the book where they meet, get to know each other and fall in love but the second part of the story is my favourite. Watching how Brody fights to get 'his Nash' back by infiltrating his home and life as his bodyguard is an absolute joy to read. It's funny, sexy, poignant and emotional. Every character in this book adds to its charm and originality from Brodys best friend Wyatt to Nashs' house keeper and voice of reason Hannah. Add in some intrigue around the reasons for Nashs' amnesia and you've got a story that delivers on every level.
I adore this book and have read it quite a few times. Will do so again and again. A real feel good story with a fabulous HEA.

Wow what can I say about this book? It was so good. There was love, action and mystery and the whole time I was reading I was waiting for the other shoe to drop:-)The book was exciting all the way through. I have to say I loved Nash when we first meet him, didn't like him so much when he became an a**, lol. I loved Brody he was a big sweetheart and I thought anyone would lucky to have him. Both Brody and Nash were really hot together and I loved reading about them and also about their friends and families. This book made me wonder how my personality would be if I was in the same situation as Nash. Sometimes I think we think too hard on how we should be but if you had a clean slate would you be the same person you're today? Just a random thought, lol Happy Reading!

A very enjoyable, fun and mostly light read once suspension of disbelief was acquired and accepted. Nice cast of side characters, too.

Overall
This is an OK read that left me struggling to suspend my disbelief and not roll my eyes at the series of cliches involving head injuries. The initial set up and character-personality switches works well, but I was pushed out of the story a bit too often, especially at the end. OK writing, interesting characters, and a good plot with mediocre elements left me lukewarm about this novel.

Warning: Some spoiler-ish content ahead.

Strengths
The strongest part of this novel by far was the array of characters. Nash and Brody are interesting, and the supporting cast adds some nice spice to everything, from the bossy housekeeper and the well-meaning friend to the loving, no-nonsense mother. While it's hard to imagine Nash becoming a hard-ass when he's surrounded by family and friends, personal expectations do horrible things to people. I especially approve of how Nash's father was handled, seen as both a bad guy (tough with high expectations) and a good guy (a fair businessman and loving father). The cast made this story come to life.

The plot overall was an interesting concept, and although it relied on some weak building blocks, I enjoyed the situations the characters were put into. Brody facing the new, cruel Nash was a twisted hitch in their relationship, and Brody's struggles with handling this new lover was touching and sometimes heart-breaking. I appreciated that new Nash would have flashbacks of events that happened in the first part of the book, giving a sense that Nash was beginning to remember things.

The cover is very attractive and artistic, perfectly representing the book. The colors are soft and real and dry and bland split by a dizzying image of cars driving. Great representation.

Weaknesses
This story relies heavily on the head-injury trope, which while in itself isn't bad, it does mire itself rather deeply in it. The first head injury is fine, as memory loss is often a side effect of such a traumatic experience. The second involves a little bit of suspension, but is feasible. The third incident is too convenient and cliche, coming across as deus ex machina. As if the author didn't know how else to resolve it and so took a short cut. I think if the memories hadn't been handled so well prior to that point, the final incident wouldn't have bothered me as much. The complete personality change that came with the final incident also felt random, as if he was becoming a man he wasn't. Too convenient.

This novel is a realistic contemporary novel, which left me with two issues: One, when Nash goes missing the first time, I find it hard to believe that his family (who are wealthy and influential) didn't broaden the search enough to find him, especially since they should have known the area he was last seen in. The hospital would have contacted the police when they had a John Doe and things should have connected, especially since databases tend to be at least state-wide. Of course, if this had happened, the story wouldn't have gone very far. The second issue is when Brody gets the job as a bodyguard. While I can see him getting sent in accidentally, I found it hard to believe that Nash's mother hadn't checked into the names/resumes of people being sent to her to guard her son. Also, where was the man who was supposed to show? I found it hard to believe that the protective and loving mother would just take a person charged with protecting her son at face value.

I always thought the goodreads score of a book is - for the most part and with a few exceptions - a good way to determine whether to pick up a book or not. This book shatterred that illusion for me.

Spoilers ahead, consider yourself warned.

The plot is ...well: Nash is a lost puppy with no memory of who he is. Upon stubmling into Brody's bar, he is taken under the owner's wing, offered a job and a place to sleep. The two fall in love, unaware someone is trying to kill Nash. Another attempt on his life puts him back in hospital, this time losing the memory of the last six months. Brody decides to take up a job as Nash's bodyguard to protect him. Some jealous tantrums and one sex scene later, Nash's memories are literally punched into his face - by Wyatt's fist. And they lived happily ever after.

I skipped a few steps, but that's the general idea. Now, I'm not exactly the best reviewer around - I'm not critical enough, usually, for me, if I enjoy a book, it's a good score no matter that the plot was so-so, the characters weren't built right, the writing wasn't stellar etc. As long as I feel it, it's good enough for me. But sometimes, sometimes those small things like plot and unconsistent character behavior jumps out SO much, they stop you from enjoying the book. And it's what happened to me with this one.

Now, amnesia is such a ... "soap opera"-like plot bunny, but oookaaay, I can get behind that. But then the irrational begins:
- big ass businessman he is, no one is looking for Nash? no pictures on the news about his disappearance, no media coverage, no pics posted on milk bottles? His family doesn't file a missing persons report? and in 6 months, no one makes the connection? Yeah, he's in a different city, but it's still the state of Texas (I'm not American and I know this much). So then, how? How come none of the above happens?

- the police finds out what happened to him during those 6 months, but they don't tell him or his family 0.o

- his mother hires a bodyguard without asking additional information from his supposed agency - no CV, no ID, no recommendation - isn't it a bit weird that "bodyguard" doesn't even wear a gun? With how concerned she is about Nash's safety, she sure is quite irresponsible when hiring his bodyguard.

- I get it: Brody loves Nash and wants to keep him safe - and goes ahead as a bodyguard, when he is not qualified to do the job properly? Love sure is grand, makes people bulletproof and all that.
But apparently it does, because from this point on Brody's personality takes a 180 and acts like a bonafide security man. Except for the fact that, you know, he's an architect turned bartender moonlighting as security detail. Didn't know it was this easy.

- a punch in the face gets Nash's memories back? 0.o And suddenly he's this new, better, improved version of the original Nash?

There's some other thingies that grate on the psyche while reading. Usually I don't mind a bit of irrationality in the plot, we wouldn't have half the existent number of books without it. BUT a bit of realism is still needed : it would have been enough to make Brody a retired cop turned bartender, and maybe get Nash lost across state borders, and lost of the problems above would have been solved: he'd have the training to justify him being a bodyguard, the connections to stop the police from revealing the truth to Nash. Such a small change, but with great impact on the believability of the plot.

So NO. This book didn't work for me AT ALL. The reason it gets two stars instead of one is Wyatt.

Noooooooooo, noooooooooooo, the plot, the plot, it hurts! Make it stop!!!!!!

Ahem.

There are plots. Then there are silly plots. Then there are plots that are so full of holes and contradictions and just plain dumbitude that you just want to stab them several times and stake them out in the blazing sun with fireants. Guess which one this is.

The characters are appealing. The prose is professional enough, and the dialog is often humorous. And, aside from just a very few suspicious turns of phrase, the British author does a good job of writing American. But that plot....

Just a few examples --

1. Not one, not two, but THREE knocks on the head for the MC -- all three with profound and instant effects on his memory. Uhhhhh-huh.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

And that's just a FEW examples. I could come up with more, believe me.

I'm rating this at over 1 star because aside from the plotting, the characters and such weren't bad. But the sheer mindnumbing idiocy of the plot keeps me from going above 2.

Wow, what a sweet story. I enjoyed this immensely. But I have a hard time rating it. It’s one of those stories where after I finished I thought, “That was pretty good, 3.5 stars,” and then kept thinking about it all day, eventually deciding, “No, it was a 4.5,” because I couldn’t get it out of my head. Then two days later not even remembering what it had been about. Well, that may have something to do with the fact that I’d read three novels since then...

Every character is interesting and individual to me, and all except the bad guy are likeable up to a point. There were lots of strong and relevant women, unlike so many other M/M romances. At one point, a tiny little woman ends a physical stand off and saves the day. Brody’s best friend is a great guy and it’s totally ridiculous that he’s known as being a total ass. I’d date him in a heartbeat, and I am not the kind of person who wants a bad boy.

Brody is an amazing guy, although his generosity at the beginning was bordering on ridiculous. At least he’s a huge man so it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that he would feel safe enough to invite Nash to stay. The first part, which is mostly just the building of the romance, was adorable and Nash’s slow realization he is gay, is a great way to play the coming out/virgin territory thing without making it be the old GFY/OFY crap I hate. Their love is beautiful and pure (although I can’t believe it would ever be enough for someone not to care about getting his memories back).

That’s why when Nash loses his memories again, it’s heart wrenching. Brody hangs on much longer than is at all realistic yet part of me believes that someone might put up with crap for too long: people do stupid, self-destructive things out of love all the time. Brody lasted just an itty-bit longer than I wanted him to, actually. I liked that Brody isn’t a doormat and that he doesn’t take evil Nash’s crap. Evil Nash is such a jerk and yet believable given the situation. There is one scene where my heart broke for Brody.

But there is a plot leading through the whole thing, and the threat of harm from the start. There is lots of danger and fear and peril and desperation, all the stuff I adore. I like that some of Nash’s personality traits carry over like how I appreciated that Brody is aware that his own lack of skills as a bodyguard are a problem and could be disastrous. Evil Nash’s reaction to a danger situation is adorable, too.

About the resolution to the story:

I decided on four stars because, although the situation was preposterous, the couple is just too adorable for words.

Brody takes a chance on the man who walks into his bar with a story of pain and amnesia, Nash is the name he has chosen and they settle into friendship then more, Nash has had to start from scratch after being attacked and left for dead and Brody is the man he falls in love with… until an ‘accident’ takes away the months he spent with Brody. Can Brody break through the businessman to get to the Nash inside? And will Nash ever remember the lost months he shared with Brody?

This is a story that will make you feel a lot of emotions whether you want it to or not, you will feel anger, you will feel compassion, you will feel joy, you will sympathies with the characters and you will want to smack Nash upside the head. When Nash walks into Brody’s bar he is like a clean slate, he has no walls and he has nothing to hide as he and Brody become friends and then embark on a relationship, he might never remember the man he used to be but he likes the man he is now.

I have got to say that this is a story that got me thinking, if I lost my memory today would I be the same person tomorrow and I have to admit that no I wouldn’t, just the same as Nash the things that I have experienced in life have molded me to be the person that I am. I have to applaud Lisa Worrall for how she handled the character of Nash. When we first meet Nash he is a sweet, happy wonderful man but when he loses his memory again he reverts back to the uncaring hardened businessman that he created to fulfill his father’s request.

As someone tries to kill Nash his mother hires a bodyguard and Brody steps in hoping that being close will jog Nash’s memory but trying to look like he knows what he is doing and getting to know the new Nash puts a strain on Brody. Brody has his work cut out for him trying to break through that shell and it isn’t pretty, he has to go through a lot of pain and heartache and how he clung on to the hope I really don’t know but the glimpses of his Nash that he catches are all that gives him hope as he really isn’t liking Nash the businessman.

This story is well written with great main characters as well as supporting characters that bring the story alive. I think a lot of thought was put into the characters of Brody and Nash and exactly how far they could be pushed and I think that the author pulled it off brilliantly.

I have to recommend this one for those who love a slight mystery, danger, and hot sex, a bit of angst, great characters and a happy ever after.
