An excerpt from the book:

While many will claim various quarterbacks as the greatest of all time, no other name comes up more often than Peyton Manning. Simply put, nobody can argue that his record proves this status. He has received five Most Valuable Players in the NFL during the regular season, which is the most received by any player. He also currently holds the most passing yards and total passing touchdowns than any other quarterback in history. He runs a no-huddle offense like nobody else’s business. Additionally, he was able to turn around Indianapolis Colts’ losing streak only after playing in his second season with the team. All but two NFL seasons, he has been able to successfully make it into the post season and ended up winning a super bowl. Nobody can argue that Peyton is simply the all-time greatest quarterback to wear an NFL jersey.
Peyton Manning is acclaimed to harness a passion and competiveness for the sport of football greater than anyone has ever seen. In fact, many believe that he is compulsively obsessed with winning. Growing up with a father who played professional football as an NFL quarterback with the New Orleans Saints for most of his career, along with having two brothers that were also extremely passionate about football—Peyton was practically bred into the sport. Even at the early age of three, Peyton was already learning how to throw a football. Even his younger brother Eli Manning is a professional quarterback for the New York Giants. Football is in Peyton’s blood, to say the least.

This was a quick read, being a blur of statistics about Peyton Manning's career and using the numbers to show how great a quarterback he was in his 18 years of playing. I was looking forward to a memoir, had never heard of a football memoir which seems to focus only on his career, being football. I do like Peyton Manning and enjoy him in commercials. As for football, not so much. So this wasn't a good match for me, with there being almost nothing about him personally, especially once he was grown. I now know a boatload about his career in football, but feel like I'm still clueless about him. He could just as easily have been a race horse or a race car, with all the stats from all the races listed, and tidbits about all the racing seasons. The book could benefit from a good proofreading as there were more than a couple of errors that ruined the flow.

Might be more enjoyable for a fan of the game more than the person.

While I am no expert in the area of NFL football, I am a casual fan and periodically like to read about players that catch my interest - Peyton Manning is one such player. No matter which team or quarterback with which one affiliates oneself – there is no arguing that Peyton Manning is a talented, intelligent and focused NFL player. His professional career spans nearly 20 years and includes many records broken, MVP titles held and post-season games played. It is only fitting that Manning’s career would be the subject of a few books.

This particular book by Clayton Geoffreys, while by no means comprehensive, seems to be decently researched and does an adequate job of hitting the highlights of Manning’s youth, college and professional career through the 2014 season. Geoffreys does a decent recap of each of Manning’s seasons, starting with his rookie year with the Colts, touching on both the highlights and the lowlights of each season. He also presents some of Manning’s critics’ commentaries and then attempts to refute them with additional stats – or in some cases, simply reiterating the already presented stats.

Geoffreys writing style is relatively easy to read and since the subject matter is not complicated, this was also a fairly quick read. One of the challenges I had with this short book is the grammar, inconsistent use of tenses, syntax and excessively repeated phrases such as “ends up” or “ended up”. While I cannot argue that Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game, I would have liked to have seen more statistics, analysis and citation of sources in Geoffreys work than the supposition and presumption that is currently in place. A respectable effort...but this version of the Peyton Manning story falls a bit flat for me.

Totally enjoyed this ebook by Clayton Geoffreys

If you are as big of a fan of Peyton Manning as I am, you will really enjoy reading this ebook. It begins with his childhood and goes all the way through pass Peyton's retirement. The ebook does contain a few editing misses, but these few things should not hinder your full enjoyment of Peyton Manning's story. Also this story is available in audio-reader, and you can also purchase this novella for a low price of $3.99, and you can add it with your Peyton Manning Collection😀😀. Happy reading and enjoy.
