Heroine was virgin.
Hero was experienced but not a manwhore.
He was not proud of his sexual past even if he enjoyed it in past. His only excuse was he didn't really know or believe about mates, or else he would have saved himself for her.
Heroine acted extremely immature when she figured out he marked her. The thing was, it was not really his fault. He WOULD have asked for permission, he WOULD have had sex with protection, SHE was the one initiated the whole thing and got carried away.
He was just giving her space.
And put your hands up who would blame a hero for seeing red watching their mate kissing someone else who told them just the night before they loved them but they're just not "together"?
Yep, heroine pulled that card, said she loved him, had sex the night before with him and then claimed he should react calmly seeing her kissing her ex-fiancé.
And then blamed that he's a controlling possessive caveman, this is the guy who has been giving her space the whole freaken day!
However! I forgave her BECAUSE who would have thought there would be an epic cat fight between the heroine and HER ex over the hero? Like a literal cat fight, since they are both lynxes! She was mad at the hero, so her ex-fiancé who has just been completely utterly dumped by her was like "wooooo, he's hoooot, you don't want him, me wants the bear!" And she lost her shit completely!
And I guess also got a taste of her own medicine and saw how exactly Jesse would have felt about her if she was that possessive of Jesse while claiming she doesn't want him. Jesse at least has been honest from the beginning. He loved her, and has nothin. To do with the land whatsoever! And he would ALWAYS fight for her.
So that cat fight between h and HER ex was epic!!!!!!
And she was totally forgiven!!!!!

This one was a cute with a side of cheesy. But still cute none-the-less. At least the Jesse wasn't a total neanderthal like Maverick.

The female lead was rather wishy-washy. She tells the guy she loves him and the next morning gets angry because they mated. While mad she goes to a bar, has a group of guys get aggressive towards her and when her mates steps in she gets pissed, again, because she 'could have handled it'. To my way of thinking when you have a group of guys coming for you & you get mad at someone trying to help that starts to push you into the TSTL category.

I love shifter books, I really do - when they are well written. This is the first book I've read by this author and seeing how it has great ratings, I thought I'd be good. I was wrong.
I hate the female characters in this book. The h wasn't a pushover but she also wasn't strong, just stuck in the middle somewhere. The only one who was somewhat consistent was the weakest of the 3. The male characters, none of them worked for me either. And come on, if you're into shifters, how many books have you actually read where they speak in their animal form? Not only that but two of them were all "ruthlessly fighting" one second and the next they're all "oh, my bad, no worries".
Not a solid storyline, not a single strong and well developed character. One book was enough for me to know I won't be reading the rest.

I really wanted to like this book but both the MCs bugged me to distraction.
The Good, The Bad, and Everything Else: Honestly what you have here is a short, fated mate, insta-love, shifter story. That's it. Nothing more. I did give this less than my typical rating for these type of books but only because as a character driven reader I just didn't like or connect with Jesse or Bonnie. With only 118 pages there just isn't enough background on them even though both were introduced in the first book in this series, Mountain Bear. There is even less on world building required for me to fully understand the Lynx shifter part and why other shifters can't sense cat shifters like they can all other shifters. Apparently, cat shifters can sense other cat shifters but a bear shifter can't sense a cat shifter or even if they are shifters at all. Jesse's lineage is mentioned and then not brought back up until the epilogue but only as side note to the story and not something that I, for one, find rather important especially since the McAllister men are actively seeking out mates that aren't bear shifters.
I also think Bonnie's ex, Seth, is a wasted character. He was written to be one we wouldn't like yet his story had the potential to be quite tragic as it appears LGBTQIA+ shifters either don't exist (in a Don't Ask Don't Tell kind of way as long as they still do their duty to their family and breed the next generation anyway) or the author only writes a queer character to be a throw away. I think Seth had more depth than Jesse and was really underplayed within the book. I keep hoping I'll run across an M/M shifter romance by this author featuring Seth. It wouldn't be the first time an author could take a character not written as hero material and flip it to be an amazing story and a worthy hero.
In a Nutshell: Even though I really didn't care for this book I will absolutely read the rest of the series and the author's other series as well.

Love it!
I really enjoyed this book. This is the story of Jesse a bear shifter and Bonnie, a linx cat. One of the reasons I so loved this book I'd Jesse! He is so patient with Bonnie, so caring and trying to do everything and anything to keep her by his side without at any moment coming across as a love sick idiot. I enjoyed Bonnie with her feisty personality. Highly recommend

A good book but confusing in some parts, happened fast in others. Been waiting to read mavericks book! There was one sentence towards the end that had the wrong names written with the wrong mates.

I swear this bear series is my dream life come true, a ranch in the middle of the Montana Mountains and gorgeous bear shifters to go with it a girl really can't ask for more Bonnie is one lucky, lucky girl because Jesse is amazing.

I Loved it!!!

Not a fan of the female lead. I get she has had issues but she’s blaming new man for the past man’s mistakes. And not only his mistakes but hers. I just really didn’t like her at all. I honestly wanted to quit reading because she was a horrible being in ways.

I wondered why she stayed in a relationship that didn’t make her happy. It was so hilarious when she kissed him and he gagged. And later tried to come on to Jesse, that part was comical.

I liked this story better than the first in the series. I liked the characters more. It was fast paced, sexy, protective alpha bears, and a dash of drama. I'll continue the series because now I want to see how Mav wins his mate.

Red hair--and we all know what goes with that--captivating eyes--they sure have captivated Jessie, and a body that won't quit--and he'd never want it too. Yeah, he's a goner. However, Bonnie has just broken her long engagement thinking she'll go back to the ex. even though Jessie does it for her and her ex fiance, let's just say it's no contest.
There is another issue, a secret that Bonnie hasn't even shared with her best friends. Jessie knows. For him, the secret doesn't matter, she is his mate and there is no other for him. Gotta say some of the funniest and hottest bear shifter books are from Terry Bolryder! This is brother 2 of three which is book. Each book has it's own story but you really need to read them in order to get what is going on.
Jesse knows who his mate is but she kinda sorta refuses to admit it. Seems she was promised at birth to another shifter and so she was engaged but she broke up with him. Besides her friends all say he is gay and using her for cover anyways. And one tiny little thing...Her friends don;t know SHE is a shifter. One Ruby is mated to Jesse's brother so she knows about shifters but Jesse for some reason is the only one who can scent Bonnie. This book does have some heat and steam but it also has some funny as heck stuff in it,
