Quanta Reset is absolutely wonderful! It picks up right where the last book left off. If you liked the first book, I will guarantee you'll love this one.
Quanta isn't used to controlling her visions with this many people around, no matter how hard she tries, she just can't have full control. When visions of a spy in the compound flood Quanta's head, they make it their mission to find him, and bring him in for questioning. When Quanta unintentionally kills the spy, Tair realizes that Quanta is destabilizing. What's worse is that on the spy's computer, Quanta and Cipher find a video of one of Quanta's clones helping Doctor Nagi.
I absolutely loved Quanta, and the second book was just as good. In this book you get to see a lot more of Quanta and Tair socializing with other Ravens and working with them. As much as I love Quanta and Tair, seeing Quanta hang out with Cipher was one of the best parts in this book. We also get introduced to a new character, but I'll get to her later.
The plot line of the story was really really good. It had the same timeline as the first book how the action didn't really start till about half way through the book. But once the action starts you can't put the book down because its that amazing!
~ SPOILERS AHEAD ~
The one thing that I didn't like about the book, was when Tair was taken by the clone. I understand why Lola dodge wrote the part about Tair having feeling for the clone, but trying his hardest to resist her. Yet I would have liked it so much more, (and respected Tair more) if he was just turned off from the clone right from the beginning.
I can't wait for the next book in the series, and I'm desperately waiting to read Devan's story and see more of this world.
I highly recommend this series to everyone. It's absolutely stunning.
"I wasn't giving up yet. I wasn't giving up at all. I had too many reasons to survive."
Quanta Reset picks up right where the last book ended with Quanta and Altair at the Shadow Ravens' compound. Quanta is still struggling with her powers, and being surrounded by so many people is not helping her. She's constantly surrounded by visions making it hard for her to even walk near the other Ravens, and the only thing that calms her is being near Altair.
The story continues to be told through both of their POVs, and I still enjoyed this! Lola Dodge perfectly captures both of their individual voices while ensuring every chapter flows together nicely. It was easy to connect with these characters again and instantly root for their safety!
As Quanta is trying to find the spy within the Shadow Ravens, I could feel all the weight on her shoulders. I love Quanta because she's incredibly selfless and brave despite everything she's been through. She wants to help the Ravens, and it truly does hurt her to be surrounded by constant visions of their deaths. Determined to help other Reds out there and end the Seligo government, she puts her pain to the side and helps Lady Eva find the spy.
Together, Quanta and Altair, discover new information regarding the past they thought they left behind. Plus, Altair and Lady Eva figure out that Quanta is destabilizing. Altair's main concern is still for Quanta's overall safety, but you can tell that their connection is now deeper than just a genetic match. I liked how their relationship didn't feel too "insta-lovey" in this book. I also appreciated that their romance wasn't the main focus throughout this book, of course what romance there was is still adorable! And Altair is just as great as he was in the previous book!
As the story progresses, we are introduced to a few new characters. Some of these characters are ones that were mentioned in previous books, such as Cipher and Knight, and I enjoyed getting to know them a little better in this one! It was fun to see how Quanta interacted with other people besides Altair or Lady Eva, and it just helps the readers see how big her heart truly is.
Cipher and Quanta end up discovering that Doctor Nagi is still experimenting with her DNA and it is not good. Which I found that Dodge did a wonderful job reminding us of past events while continuing to move the story along.
There are so many twists and revelations as the story comes to an end! There was plenty of intense action and I loved it. It does end on a cliffhanger though and now I really need the last book!
Overall, I loved this book. The characters, especially Quanta and Altair, were great and I enjoyed all of their growth throughout the story. In my review for Quanta, I said I wanted more world building and I was not disappointed this time around. The world expands, the descriptions are perfectly placed to help you relate to this world and these characters! The story was nicely paced leaving me entertained the whole time.
If you've enjoyed the previous books then you must continue with this series. If you haven't read any of the books yet, then I highly recommend checking them out if you're a fan of fantasy/sci-fi stories!
3.5 Stars DESCRIPTION: Quanta has escaped her laboratory prison, but that’s where the good news ends.
Life at the Shadow Ravens’ compound is a disaster. She’s drowning in visions of the dark pasts and darker futures of her fellow Ravens and is plagued by her own panic-inducing memories, but Lady Eva still expects her to “train” and “participate in missions.” Plus, the food tastes like burnt plastic.
The only bright spot is her genetic pairing to the brilliant Altair Orpheus. As their relationship grows, she’s positive that chemicals aren’t the only things drawing them together—although chemistry is definitely involved.
While they test the limits of her game-changing new ability to reset time, word arrives from Eva’s agents: Doctor Nagi is still experimenting with her DNA.
REVIEW: I read this book three weeks ago, but the thought of writing a review has left me conflicted. Quanta and Altair were great characters...in the last book. Unfortunately, I don't think they needed a second book. More than half the story dealt with Quanta and Altair struggling to understand and control her powers. The same issue was repeated over and over and felt redundant. Added to the fact that they solved the problem in one page made me feel the book was a bit superfluous. Worse, the solution wasn't something that they figured out or solved on their own, it just fell into their lap. Very disappointing. I think it tainted my view of the whole book.
Don't get me wrong—the writing was great. I loved getting to know more about the Ravens and exploring everyone's unique abilities. I even loved their missions and the new characters introduced in this story. I highly enjoyed the action scenes, so much so, that I wished there were more of them.
So, I'm not sure if I just hit a reading slump with this book or if I didn't just *love* it as much as the first two books in the series. I wanted something new and shiny to fawn over, and it never really happened. If you enjoy this series, by all means, read Quanta Reset. If you're not hooked on The Shadow Ravens Series, I would suggest you skip this book.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. Posted from my site: www.StaceyBrutger.com
When we left off Quanta and Tair had managed to unlock her new power and escape from Dr. Nagi and rejoin the Shadow Ravens and Lady Eva and while things were better than being prisoners they were far from happy go lucky. Quanta was struggling being around so many people and focusing with the constant assault of time ghosts, the pasts and possible futures and let's not forget they are in a war and in hiding. We pick up quickly after that.
Quanta is struggling at the compound. Her only bright spot is Tair and their decision to look at their genetic pairing as a positive rather than a negative. They continue to test the limits of her abilities while Tair works on a way to help her with the constant pain being around people causes. Things are never that easy as they try to flush out a traitor in their mists and track down Dr. Nagi and his continued experiments to duplicate her power could end everything.
Quanta Reset is one big action filled adventure that takes you on a whole roller coaster of emotions. I was sucked in from the start wanting so badly to see Quanta and Tair to have a little bit of downtime, a much needed break to be them because they are so cute together! That's not in the cards so they are thrown from one situation to another and things look bad for my pair. Still even with everything going on at the compound there were bits of calm, or as calm as one can be in this world, that really grounded and reestablished all the reasons I do love them. The pairing we learned about at the end of Quanta could be the blame for the protective instinct but it's clear seeing them together and how they know one another so easily it's real. His desire to put her above all else, she is his priority and while he wants to protect her he doesn't try to suffocate her but give her space and let her make her own choices.
Things continue to get crazy and really start to mess with your emotions if you're as invested in the characters as I am. I mean Quanta has this amazing ability but the pain it causes her almost debilitating her in everyday life is insane but still she wants to push to help. There was a point, I don't want to ruin it by explaining but you'll know when you get to it, where I was thinking "Oh no NOT good" and that continued to grow and keep me on the edge of my seat until the last page and then some. I couldn't put it down. That is one of my favorite aspects of these books, they are so quick and full of things happening you fly through them easily but they take you on a full journey each and every time.
One other things I enjoyed about this one was we also got to see more about Cipher and Knight from book one. They are on the compound so seeing them interact as one was really cute. Our two couples both men worried about their hard headed and determined Red. Seeing them side by side….yum! We also get introduced to a new Red with an interesting power whom I hope to see again.
Well that's all I can say. I haven't disliked a book yet. Another great thing is when you finish a book you know when the next one will be out. In this case Quanta Rewind will be out on April 25th 2017! They even have a hand pre-order link which is great because I know I can't wait! Quanta Reset is out today and if it's not clear I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone!
I had enjoyed both of the books so far in The Shadow Ravens series so when I saw that it was continuing with QUANTA RESET, I didn't hesitate to grab a review copy.
QUANTA RESET continues the series with a great quick pace and easy flow. The characters continue to develop and learn what they can do on their own and as a team. Quanta is having a hard time being so close to so many people, but Altair continues to be a great support to her. Although I liked the story and didn't have any issues getting through it, there wasn't much suspense and there wasn't a whole lot happening like in the previous two books. It was more of a filler book.
QUANTA RESET ends pretty suddenly, which does makes you want to read more. It looks like book four, QUANTA REWIND, will once again feature Quanta's story. I do miss Cipher being the main gal though so I hope we might have more of her in the next book.
* This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
As Quanta’s powers seem to grow after the first book,Quanta herself is growing weaker. She’s destabilizing, with timeghosts showing a likely future where she explodes killing innocent and guilty alike. We're pressed up against the glass holding our breath waiting to see which will win: the power to take down her enemies or the seemingly inevitable self-destruct that erases even her allies? Then her Clone enters the picture and Tair is captured by the Seligo.
I thought that Quanta Reset had plenty of twists, action, and adrenaline pumping scenes which fly from the pages and it certainly kept me captivated and anxious to know how on earth Quanta and Tair's future could possibly turn out well. Really this book puts on quite a power show and I’m left wondering what could follow it. Jack Murphy
I'm just going to come right out and say it. I think that this is a great follow up to Quanta; better than Quanta.
In part, I think that is because I know the characters now. I want them to succeed. I am invested in their fictional lives. But is also because the author has done such a good job with the narrative. In this book, confusion and instability reigns, and this leeches through the page into the brain of the reader to ensure that the readers mood mirrors that of the protagonists.
The resolution for the issue raised in this book is, in my opinion, particularly clever.
Overall, an immensely enjoyable, quick read. I await the concluding part with eager anticipation.
I voluntarily reviewed a Review copy of this book.
I'm surprised that the series will continue focusing on Quanta. Her powers are cool and I enjoy her as a character but I also really liked Cipher. I kind of figured that each book in the series would be a new red and a new escape. And while this book was enjoyable it was also fairly short with a very simplified ending. Still good and I still plan on continuing but I was hoping for more.
It was a nice story so many things happening. Quanta is a very strong character I love her, she never give up and always people in front of her own need. I like to see how her and Tair interact together. I can't wait to read the next book.
There was just something about this one that prevents me giving it a 4 stars rating. Just really struggled considering how good the first 2 books in the series were.
Well written continuation of Quanta. Lola Dodge keeps your interest throughout and reintroduces previous hero’s and heroines from past stories. I’m looking forward to jumping right into Quanta Rewind.
Dear goodness, this book was wonderful! I know you’re probably looking up at that score like “what the heck when the other two got 5’s?” And so I’ll tell you. While I still absolutely love this world and the characters in it, and I totally can’t get enough of this story, I felt like it took a little longer to get into the meat of the action in this one. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. The setting changed dramatically in this book, and when you change the setting, there’s a whole other set of things that need to be explained. Naturally, that means that a larger chunk of this book was devoted to explaining things, pushing battles and action further down the line. Even so, this book has made my favorites list. I’m pretty sure this series is one that I’ll be following for as long as possible.
I absolutely love that this book challenges the things we think we know about the characters we have already been introduced to. In nearly every dystopian series I have ever read, there comes a point where we have to question which characters we trust and who really is the good guy or bad guy, or if there even is a good guy or bad guy. This is no exception, and I couldn’t be happier with that fact! Morals are so different from one person or society to another and the reasons behind a decision can impact the morality of a behavior greatly. Nothing is ever a simple as we first believe it is, and I love it when an author (or group of authors, as the case may be) can capture that concept. In this case, Dodge did an excellent job navigating that idea. I am incredibly impressed and that fact only makes me love this series even more!
The new characters we were introduced to in this volume easily drew my interest, and I sincerely hope we will learn more about them in the next installment! When I turned the last page of this book, only to find that we’ve got months to wait for the next one, I was crushed! I’m absolutely hooked on this series and can’t wait for more! Definitely pick these up when you have a chance! They are positively enthralling!
This is very much a bridge book. If you haven’t read the previous story (Quanta) you will get lost trying to follow along with this one. And it might leave you a little frustrated that the third of Quanta’s books isn’t out just yet.
I found this read every bit as fast as the last one, but Quanta spends most of it diminished, struggling to cope with where recent events have left her and the prospect of her power going out of control. Tair too is playing catch up, wrapping his head around recent revelations and doing everything he can to keep Quanta safe.
Despite all of this, not a lot actually happens. Quanta is struggling, Tair is trying to be helpful, the Ravens are (always) under threat, trouble arises and they go off to try and deal with it. Plenty of questions are raised along the way, but there are very few answers here. Even the ones we do get are thrown out without any explanation of just how and why things have come to that point. Instead everything has a distinct feeling of building towards a big climax.
Which you don’t get in this book, hence me calling it a bridge.
In fact the ending is downright abrupt. It’s not a cliffhanger, as such, but it definitely felt like everything cut off mid-scene.
So overall, while this is definitely important when it comes to Quanta and the Shadow Ravens series as a whole, advancing the plot a bit and deepening the relationship between Quanta and Tair, it isn’t a very strong installment on its own. It was nice to see Cipher and Knight again, and there’s a new character I definitely want to know more of, but I think I’ll like it more when I have the next book to answer all the questions this one raised. As part of a completed trilogy, I think it’ll be great, but as the second book still awaiting an unreleased third, it was just a little lacking in substance for me.
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
Quanta Reset by Lola Dodge is the third novel in The Shadow Raven’s series—the second to feature seer Quanta—and picks up where the last book concluded, taking readers on an exhilarating journey from beginning to end.
Having managed to escape Doctor Nagi’s lab, Quanta and Tair are currently safe; hidden away in the Shadow Ravens compound. However life in the compound isn’t easy for Quanta whose timeghosts haunt her now more than ever as she struggles to rein in her abilities and adapt to life outside the lab. Watching the woman he cares about deteriorate is a nightmare for Altair Orpheus, but just as Lady Eva wants to train Quanta, all Tair wants to do it keep her safe. Their pairing a bright light in dark times, Quanta and Tair will once again have to face off against Doctor Nagi and his unexpected experiments if they have any hope of staying alive.
Picking up not far after the last book left off, Quanta Reset is another deeply enjoyable and fast paced story that readers are sure to love. Exploring new dimensions of the series and new aspects of Quanta herself, Lola Dodge does a great job capitalising on what we already know and throwing in more twists. Plus, it was super fun to see Cipher and Knight again!
Having gotten to know Quanta in the first book, I found it really interesting seeing her attempt to adjust and struggle in this novel. The ramifications of all she’d been through had taken its toll and Lola Dodge doesn’t shy away from this fact—instead highlighting and showing the difficulties faced by Quanta. Our heroine has a lot of tough times ahead of her, but I love the strength she embraces as she faces them.
If I’m being honest and a little sappy, I really missed seeing a stronger amount of romance between Quanta and Tair in this instalment, although I did enjoy seeing them develop further as companions and confidants in Quanta Reset. Tair really is at a point where he’ll do anything for Quanta and its beautiful seeing the love he clearly has for her develop and shine through. All I’m saying is a little more kissing and snuggling will be definitely appreciated in the next book.
There’s tonnes of developments in this novel as Quanta and Tair face off against an unexpected enemy who is a replica of Quanta. I’m really keen to see what happens in the next book Quanta Rewind and I’m curious as to whether Devan will have a larger role in the series. Perhaps she will be our next heroine following Quanta?
Either way, I’m happy with how Quanta Reset played out and am looking forward to discovering what happens to Quanta, Tair and the rest of the Ravens when the next book releases in the new year!

Quanta Reset is book three in The Shadow Ravens series and is the second book told in Quanta's POV. I've enjoyed the other books in this series and will be intrigued to see which book comes out next. The original idea behind the series was to have three different authors write three different interconnecting books with different lead characters. But we've had two with Quanta so far written by Lola Dodge, love that author by the way! So I'm not sure if Quanta will get another book next or if it will change character and author. I can't wait to see!
So we start off Quanta Reset just a little bit after where book two ended. Quanta has escaped with Altair and is in the Shadow Ravens' compound trying to hone her abilities. A refresher in case y'all haven't read the series or forgot. Quanta has the ability to see the future, including each and every little possible choice and the different outcome it would result in. It's extremely draining on her, especially when she's around so many people on the compound. While Altair is helping her center herself, nothing else seems to be helping and Quanta is losing control over her abilities. It's not an ideal situation since an unstable Red Helix (people with abilities like Quanta) is a very dangerous situation. In the meantime, Quanta sees something unsettling, and our duo has to go on a mission. Their journey had them in situations I didn't see coming and kept my intrigue along the way.
Quanta Reset really showed the struggles some of the Red Helixes could have while living among others and it kind of broke my heart. I enjoy Quanta's character and to see her struggling so much was hard. Her abilities were growing stronger and I'm hoping she finds a way to control them more in the next installment. We got to see a few scenes with the leading lady from book one and her man, which was a nice little addition since I've wondered how they were doing. With the events in this book, I feel like we're gearing up for a bigger fight with the bad guys in the near future, which is what I'm most excited about. All in all, this was a solid addition to the series and I think anyone that likes a bit of New Adult mixed with paranormal abilities would love this series.
I really really enjoyed this part 3 in the series. I loved the twists and turns and I definitely was surprised a couple of times. I wish I had read this in less days, but uni got in the way. I do have to say that it was engaging enough to stretch the month it took me to read it ;)
Continuing on in the Shadow Ravens series, we get to see more of Quanta as she struggles to stay alive and protect those around her. Since the last book in the series, Quanta has grown more unstable in her time oriented powers and is slowly falling apart. Unfortunately though, she doesn't have time to deal with that as her old captors are out to kill or capture her and everybody she has grown to love deeply, preferably kill. With even more lives at stake, every choice she makes is critical, good thing Quanta can reset time. I enjoyed Quanta Reset, but if I'm honest, I'm getting a little board with the series. After the first two novels being about two new and riveting super powered character, Quanta reset was a little boring in comparison. That is because instead of following the trend of the first two novels, it continued the story of Quanta, which leaves room for very little new character development. I also felt like the author was not truly solid on the extent of Quanta's powers, and that could have been improved and clarified. That aside, the story was still very well written and the plot was still pretty intriguing. I still like Quanta and her comrades and they are each unique and intriguing characters. Overall I give Quanta Reset the rating of THREE AND A HALF STARS! Want more of me? Go to: http://thenotsopubliclibrary.blogspot...
Quanta Reset picks up right where Quanta left off. Although, I will admit that I didn’t immediately remember where we left off. There are plenty of reminders though, so I settled back into this world within a few chapters. Quanta and Altair are working with the Shadow Ravens, but they also have to worry about the fact that Quanta’s powers are going a little haywire. This could mean very, very bad things for her if they can’t figure out what’s causing it or how to stop it. Meanwhile, one of Quanta’s clones is out and about and they have to stop her! It’s dangerous enough having one person who can manipulate time running around, but add in a second who’s under the control of a mad scientist? Disaster.
I really don’t have much to say about Quanta Reset. I really enjoyed it! It was fast paced and exciting. We got to meet another Red Helix with a strange ability. Things do get weird when Quanta’s clone shows up, but she just added to my furious page turning. Basically, it’s another worthy sequel and has me eager to know what happens next!
I enjoyed Quanta, so when I saw Quanta Reset on NetGalley, I requested it right away.
The Good: This is an excellent continuation of the Shadow Ravens series. Like book two, the writing is tense, fast-paced, and there is a surprise or two for long-time science fiction readers.
The Bad: I get the point of view switching. It’s a common trope in fiction, but I didn’t care at all about Tair’s POV. He’s important to the story insomuch that his interaction with Quanta is significant, but he’s such a bore. I was glad that the Tair chapters were shorter than the Quanta chapters. Reading his POV was akin to eating green beans – I do it because it’s expected of me, but what I want are steak and potatoes.
The Beautiful: The Shadow Ravens is such a fun and well-written series. I didn’t read book #1, but fans of Cipher will be glad to see her in Quanta Reset.
The Final Word: Without a doubt, Quanta Reset is a five-star read. It publishes next Tuesday, so you better get it. If you haven’t read Quanta already, do so. As of the writing of this review, Cipher is free on Amazon and Quanta is $0.99.
As Quanta’s powers seem to grow, Quanta herself grows weaker. She’s destabilizing. We are pressed up against the glass holding our breath waiting to see which will win: the power to take down her enemies or the seemingly inevitable self-destruct that erases even her allies?
Plenty of twists, action, and adrenaline pumping scenes fly from the pages and it kept me captivated and anxious to know how on earth it could possibly all turn out. Really this book puts on quite a power show and I’m left wondering what could follow it.
Quanta Reset is an intense continuation of the Shadow Ravens series that surges with powers and a relentless shadow of doom. Determined, exciting, and full of surprises it only adds to the anticipation of what will become of Quanta and the Ravens.
I was invited to review this title through Netgalley. I liked so much the previous titles in this series. This one is a bit darker. Quanta is struggling. The freedom, the safe harbor at Raven heartquarters, her genetic pairing with the wonderful Alistair. ..all of this will mean nothing if she is destabilising. Because a red as powerful as her will go boom. Literally. If this is not enough, there's the teeny-weeny fact that she has a clone... who's working rather willingly with the enemy. This book sort of ended mid action, wich is not as bad as cliffhanger but still... I need the next book! Now! I loved as always Tair, Cipher and Knight... Quanta was struggling so much that I wasn't able to connect with her. I wish there was more romance... I believe there wasn't even kissing... My vote: 3.5 stars
I find the storyline interesting and really enjoyed the other two books in this series but this one wasted too much time on describing her destabilizing! I had to put the book down multiple times because I was bored with reading what I felt was the same thoughts over and over. I almost gave up but I did find the ending was better. Too bad the Author didn't have that happened around halfway through the book and then progress the story. If she would have, I would have rated it a 5 star.
As we know Quanta and Tair have escaped Dr. Nagi’s lab and are now hiding out at the Shadow Ravens compound with Lady Eva, Cipher and Knight are there as well. Quanta is not used to having so many people around her with all their timeghost and so many possible futures. She is still learning how to control her powers and the timeghost. She is learning how to put her walls in her mind to block the timeghost.
Tair helps her a lot just by being with her, it calms her down and makes the timeghost disappear. Tair cares for Quanta so very much and will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. He keeps track of her vitals all the time and has figured out that Quanta is destabilizing. Will Tair find out what is causing Quanta to destabilize before it is too late?
Cipher and Quanta discover that Dr. Nagi is still studying their DNA and must put a stop to him and his research before it is too late to save someone else or he destroys them. Can Cipher, Quanta, Tair, Knight and the others stop Dr. Nagi?
Quanta also discovers that there is a spy living in the Shadow Raven compound with them. With all the timeghost floating around Quanta is having a hard time finding out who the spy is. Can she find the spy before it is too late? Who is the spy?
I have loved going along on Quanta and Tair’s journey with them when they escaped Dr. Nagi’s lab and then seeing them meet up with Cipher and Knight and all the other Shadow Ravens and Reds. The world building is so amazing with the red, green, black and all the helixes. I can’t wait to read more of Quanta’s adventures in Quanta Rewind.
I would recommend Quanta Reset to anyone who loves a good dystopian, science fiction novel with a little romance and mystery on the side.
