Three weeks after the events in Altasia, nightmares come to plague Asher. His only defense against them seems to be José, but Asher is struggling with José’s determination to shoehorn them into a relationship. If he’s being honest, he isn’t quite sure what José hopes to get out of a relationship with him besides sex.

His problems don't end there, though. Strange things begin to happen in Riverside. Suddenly the bond is back, José's sister falls into a coma, and to top it all off, someone sets fire to Asher's house--and it isn't Asher.

Somehow, this world and the other one are related, and if Asher wants to keep shit from hitting the fan, he needs to figure out how. There’s no time to worry about love, but ignoring it might be his worst mistake ever.

Ana writes m/m romance and erotica. Her interest in hot guy-on-guy action was first sparked by reading scandalous Japanese mangas. A dirty secret she couldn’t resist. In a long bout of insanity – also known as her life — she decided to learn the language and escape to the land of sushi, sumo, and yaoi.

She’s since moved back to Europe to be with the love of her life – delicious European chocolate.

Now she resides in the sunny part of Germany where she fills her days chasing her dreams and writing about men in complicated relationships. Her family believes she’s writing “erotic manga stories.” She’s pleased they got the erotic part right, at least.

First thought: I love it:)

I'm going to admit right now that I'm officially a fan of this Ana J. Phoenix's books. I love it. I can't believe that it was 300 pages. I was giddy when this was released so soon after the first book. I did love this one a bit more than the first one, which is a good thing. You want the sequel to be better than the previous book. Ash was an ass, but he got real too, and Jose, aka Blind guy, got to remind everybody who read the first book why he is so great.

The only that sort of dragged the story was the business with Jose's sister. It kind of pulled me out of the story, but I get it needed to happen for readers to understand what happened in the first book. My one wish is that despite being the final story ( as far as I know), plot bunnies find the author to include a "holiday story." I would so be here for more Ash mixing more with Jose's family and possibility his own. (4.5 stars)

This series has been really awesome. I mean from anyone who has read the previous book in the series you know that “Branded” was set in the fantasy land of Altasia, and yeah the story was a fantasy land adventure but “Burned” is not a fantasy adventure. I applaud the author for having been able to write the Ash and Flames series where one moment we can have dragons, elves, shape-shifters, vampires and medusa-heads and the next we get to see Asher and Jose trying to work out their relationship in almost completely normal surroundings.

I also like how she was able to switch so easily between the two settings. This book has no awkward beginnings, no sense of trepidation as to what will happen since the last time we met the characters were in Altasia and this is Earth, it is just a smooth ride into Ash & Jose’s life and problems, and there are a lot of problems.

Asher is this really insecure but really truthful person who the world has led to believe that he is worthless. Asher is really hard to like but when you do it’s really hard to hate him. He is the character with the prickly exterior that makes you never want to find out what is going on inside him.

But Jose Rodriguez likes Asher and it’s his personal mission to make Ash see the love and care he deserves. What this leads to is a roller-coaster rides of emotions and reactions and feelings and temperaments that are all over the place but that get dealt with in a realistic manner.

The reason I loved this book and I do love this book really hard, is because of the best of both worlds that we get in this story but what I liked even more is that when Ash and Jose are trying to figure out their relationship there is no fantasy element that creeps in to make things easier or harder, it is just two humans figuring things out. Yes there are things happening but when the focus of the book is on these two it’s real. Also I loved to see Ash’s maturity, I mean Ash loves to run but I really liked the fact that he stays to talk things through instead of storming off.

In my personal opinion this book is better than the last one, maybe because this is Earth and there is no fantasy that is running Jose and Ash’s lives and while they sit and sort out their lives, their love for each other makes sense and there is so much you get to learn about why Ash is the way he is and you get it. I think by the end of this book I was as much in love with Ash as with Jose.

And I really liked Oldir, he was awesome. In the end the author gives us a way that we might see this world again in a continuation of the story but Oldir is all like I am not worrying about that till the next century. So Thank You Ana for not giving us an ambiguous ending. I have loved Asher and Jose but I guess they deserve their peace and if not. Well we will see.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

This is a really difficult book to write about without giving too much away.

Burned follows on where Branded left off but the boys are back on earth and Altasia is just in their nightmares. The first big question is whether they will find each other again and if they do what then? Can they pick up where they left off on their crazy adventure or will everything have changed?

This story answers a lot of the questions the first book left us with as we see the link and the history between the two world and the people involved.

For me personally this story was very much about Asher. This aloof yet vulnerable young man with a fixation to fire has his life splayed open as Jose attempts to stop him running. His father’s return opens up old wounds that should have been faced years ago but which Asher has firmly locked away. He blossoms in this book but it’s ugly and painful for him and he fights it every step of the way.

We also meet Jose’s family when his sister becomes a part of the story helping Jose confirm that there is a link to what is happening and it’s not just random as he first thought.

Burned is nothing like Branded yet very much the same…does that make sense? Probably not! It carries on the story but the setting has changed, the goals have changed and Jose, aka The Blind Guy, is determined to get his HEA.

This book was a really good addition to this series!
This time Asher and Jose are back in their world they just have to work their way back together.
You see more of Asher's family in this book which I felt so bad for him to have to grow up with a mother like that. I think this book helped me understand him a little more and were his attitude came from.
Jose sister ends up in the other world so he is trying to find a way to get her out while at the same time he is trying to make Asher see that he is deserving of love.
Their was some action in this book along with some angst and steam. There was really so much going on with these two MC's that at some points my head was spinning trying to keep up with it all. You see a lot of different characters in this book too like in the first book in this series and some really evil ones too.
I honestly loved this two together, they have their ups and downs with this book but once they figure out they fit together and their love for one another it was really awesome to see especially when Asher finally admits to his feelings. Well I am trying not to give away too many spoilers so I will leave this review with I loved this world and characters this author created and I really liked this book!
I would recommend this book!
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

Bit of both worlds

Ash and Jose are together again. Both awesomely different from the other but together they are perfect. You get a look into both worlds this time as Sophia, Jose sister gets pulled in to the other world. Ash uncovers the secrets his parent have kept as well as a journal that could lead to saving Jose's sister. Their bond is so strong that this world or the next they would still be together.
