Chasing Jane

Rate this book
My mother named me Jane after Jane Austen--or maybe Jane Eyre. She said either one would do. With a name like Jane, I might not be a beauty queen or the most popular girl in the room, but I would be smart and strong and make good decisions.

I guess I've mostly lived up to my name.

My mother died before we could go on our trip to England to visit all of the best Jane-spots, so I'm going with my best friend instead. That's Nate. He's sweet and funny and adorable, and we've known each other since kindergarten. In fact, he was almost my stepbrother until my mom and his dad broke up. But don't get the wrong idea about him. It's never been romantic between us.

At the moment, I'm crazy about this mystery guy I've been talking to on a dating site, and he's nothing like Nate at all. I don't know why I'm suddenly finding Nate so attractive, and I don't know why he has started acting kind of strange.

Anyway, this is my Jane trip, and I've been waiting for it all my life.

ReRead review:
I forgot how much I really loved this couple and how incredibly cute they were together. I didn’t even comment on that in my original review so let me be clear...Jane and Nate were fun and cute and absolutely adorable together.

Original review:
This friends-to-lovers couple felt very realistic in their friendship. They were so sweet together even before they became more. I loved watching that transition, which was set up to add a touch of drama to the story.

Both Jane and Nate were developed to be imperfect in looks and character and that’s one of the things I love about this author’s writing. The fact that they were as real and flawed as the next person and yet managed to gain the title of perfect hero and heroine made this even more enjoyable.

This is a very quick read with a setting that captured my attention. The steam factor is relatively low but once they open up to one another, it’s pretty intense. Loved everything about this!

I haven't read a book for a long time, and certainly not a good one. So I took this up. It is a novella. Finished it in an hour and I must say it was a very pleasant read. The story was predictable but what kept me going was Noelle Adams' superb writing. I have one other book by her and it did leave a strong impression on my mind. She has a way of leaving an imprint on your mind and touching your heart with her stories.

This is about Jane, as regular as you and me. No beauty here. As plain as people normally are in real life. Her best friend Nat, who is also another regular guy. No chiseled features, no body to die for and definitely not a millionaire. Another regular trying to make ends meet and live a happy life where he finds his love and is loved in return.

What stands out for me is the characterization. This is a story about two regular people. Two people who have been friends forever and who were afraid of their changing feelings for each other.

Jane's gears seemed real and something we can all relate to. Her emotions. Her taking pleasure in simple things we do in our normal boring lives. Whether it was her fretting over the amount spent on taking the trip or her fears of messing up her friendship with her best friend.

And what do I say about Nat? We often forget that the men in our lives want to be the heroes in our stories too. Simple hard working men, no good looking Greek millionaires/ billionaires. The pleasure they take in making our dreams come true or seeing us smile. Sometimes we miss out on the diamond right before our eyes while pursuing a chimera. Happiness is sometimes right before our eyes but we fail to see it an grab it with both our hands and instead we run after the idea of being happy with or preconceived ideas and notions about things like love and happiness.

Short, sweet novella. Jane and Nate have been best friends since they were small children. Both are in their early to mid twenties, Jane's first person POV. There's a big reason for just Jane's POV. Nate and Jane are on a trip to England that Nate arranges. Jane is a big fan of the Janes- Jane Austen and Jane Eyre. Nate and Jane are touring the English countryside to see the sites where Jane Austen lived and where she based her stories.
Nate is very sweet and devoted to Jane, They are such good friends and know each other so well. I did get frustrated with (somewhat) clueless Jane.
This was a nice, quick, enjoyable read.

A short novella, but it’s such a cute tale. You can instantly see how close these friends are. And they evolve so naturally into more. Sure, the foreshadowing is painfully obvious. The story is predictable. But I enjoyed the journey.

This was such a sweet friends to lovers story.

This novella is pretty short, so the story moves quickly. I would have liked it to be a few pages longer for an epilogue, but it still ended well. I liked that we got so emotion from both characters and enough of their back story for everything to make sense.

Overall, great novella.

Chasing Jane by Noelle Adams is a short, slightly predictable romance with two wonderful characters. Jane, named for the famous English Janes, Austin and Eyre, is on vacation in England with her best friend Nate. They have been friends since grade school, and there was even a time when Jane's late mom dated Nate's dad. Nate was the rock Jane needed when she lost her mom to cancer. Up until this point, their relationship has been purely platonic. However, Nate has felt more than friendship for quite some time, and has even pursued Jane under a different name, Rochester, using a online dating service to express his true feelings and thoughts. Naturally, Jane finds out and realizes that Nate is truly her soulmate.

This is a feel-good love story that can be enjoyed when you are short on time. Jane and Nate are good together and Ms. Adams does a nice job of creating the heat between them.

2.5 stars.
Normalmente me encantan todas las historias cortas de esta autora, aunque este no ha sido el caso. La he encontrado (demasiado) previsible, bidimensional y carente de sentimientos. No he conectado con los protagonistas y no he conseguido percibir qué sentían. A lo mejor es que ha sido excesivamente corta, o a lo mejor no estaba de humor…

2.5 stars.
I usually love all of these author´s short stories, although this has not been the case. I have found it (too) predictable, two-dimensional and devoid of feelings. I have not connected with the MC´s and I have not managed to perceive what they felt. Maybe it is that it has been too short, or perhaps I was not in the mood...

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a light and fluffy novella and delivers what you expect from a friends to lovers story. Its is also exactly what I needed to read after a long day looking after my twins.

The book is only five chapters long and covers two days, but its sweet and fun is is the perfect read to relax to of an evening when you don't have too much time.

It may have taken my two days to get through, but ordinarily i think it would only take an hour of two.

I continue to love all of the books from this author.

A cute little novella that warmed my heart on a Sunday afternoon, that's the best I could describe Noelle Adams's Chasing Jane! I enjoyed the story and the two characters, but I just couldn't ignore Adams's too-showy writing style, which is why I gave this novella only 3 stars. That whole "mystery" surrounding Rochester? I figured it out from the very beginning... I would have liked more mystery and more suspense. Romantic suspense, that is! :D But for what is worth, I actually enjoyed reading it and I recommend it for a quick, pleasant read!

Cute and simple

Nice story...a touch of romance and literature. I like the simplicity and devotion of the characters, the kind of friendship the ran deep and eventually turn in to more. Thanks Noelle!

A cute, fast, romantic read. I liked the premise of the Jane Austen/Jane Eyre tour of England and wish the book would've been long enough to really explore that, though.

Chasing the Janes

Jane is a Jane Austen/Eyre enthusiast and after losing her mom her best friend takes her on the trip to England to discover the history of Austen and her characters.

Janes best friend is Nate. He's been in her life for a couple of decades, and would do anything for her.

The friendship is platonic especially since she's falling for the words and conversations from her online contact Rochester.

But this magical trip starts to take the blindfold off how she sees Nate and how she's not missing Rochester nearly as much as she should be.

Sometimes the right one for you is right under your nose and all it takes is one shift to change everything. That shift was with one word left open on a tablet. To change the course of each of their paths.

I liked how this came about. Casual but yet beautifully. Full of such emotion in a short sweet pretty package.

I would have loved to hear more about their romance and her realizing her feelings for him and him expressing himself as one rather then two.

The ending was cute but it's never long enough for me. Where are they now?

Good thing they never did become stepsiblings. That would have been painful especially for him.

She always wanted to be a part of his family and now she gets something better then her original wish.

This lovely friends to lovers short novella takes place in England as Jane (a huge fan of all things Jane Eyre and Jane Austen) visits with her best friend Nate. He set this trip up for her, a chance for her to recoup after her mother passed away and to give her what she's always wanted, a trip to all the Jane sites she's loved from the books for so long. Though Jane wishes she could have gone with her mother, being with her best friend is equally exciting and meaningful for her. At the same time, she's recently entered into an online 'relationship' of sorts with a gentleman who calls himself Rochester ( a man after Jane's heart obviously). But while in England, Jane starts to notice little things about Nate, things she's avoided thinking about too deeply until now. Could her own Rochester be right under her nose?

This is told from Jane's point of view and you get the sense that she is a friendly, sweet young woman, still grieving the loss of her mother but used to Nate being her rock in all things. I loved seeing her start to realize that Nate is more than just a nice guy - her physical attraction to him starts to manifest itself in new ways and it's a tender and sweet story as it's obvious to the reader that only a man in love with a woman would go to such lengths for her as to plan the trip of her dreams. Since Nate doesn't usually express himself emotionally, Jane is quite taken with her 'Rochester' and his fluid way of writing and his complete understanding of her and her feelings. Of course (and sorry if this is a spoiler, but it's pretty obvious where the plot is headed here), Nate and Rochester are one and the same, and when Jane discovers this, she must decide what she's going to do with this information. Eventually we get to the kissing and whatnot in some unpretentious and emotional scenes between them. I liked everything about this story, from the descriptions of the charming cottage and landscape of their vacation spot, to the ups and downs of the emotional roller coaster as Jane and Nate move forward from friends to lovers. Delightful! 5 stars.

This is such an instant feel-good novella whenever you feel sad or angry or just want to get cheered up a bit.

Jane and her best friend Nate go on a trip to England together to visit all the Jane Austen spots that Jane loves so much. Her actual plan was to go with her mother, but she passed away before she had the chance to.

Nate and Jane have known each other their whole lives. They almost became step siblings, but their parents broke up before it happened. It was never romantic between them, though. And Jane’s been talking to a mystery guy she met on the Internet, anyways. Rochester is sweet and sensitive and seems to understand her in ways no one else is able to.

And yet, she starts realizing how attractive Nate really is, even though she can’t forget about Rochester. When secrets are revealed, everything changes.

I highly enjoyed this novella. I wouldn’t say it’s on my new top favorites list, but it was such a quick, fun, entertainable read. It’s everything you’re looking for in just a plain good old romance novel.

Yes, it was predictable, but it was okay I guess. Because the writing and the swoon-worthy parts totally made up for it.

The only issue I had with it is that it was a little bit short. I know it’s a novella, but I feel like the story could’ve been better if it got stretched a bit to create more tension. But considering the short amount of pages, the author did a really great job.

I’m definitely going to read more by Noelle Adams because I loved her writing and the way she creates stories. There’s something about her style of writing that just grips you, which is one of the most important qualities to have in my opinion.

As quick as the novella, I’m going to end this review here. If you’re looking for a quick, sweet read to pass the time, I highly recommend checking this novella out!

Super cute novella! I always love a good friends to lovers story, and this one was great. I love how Nate really put Jane first. You can tell how deep their feelings for each other run, and I felt all of the pain and joy right along with them. I really like the premise and the tie ins with Jane Austen and Jane Eyre. A light, emotional, and adorable romance!

May contain slight spoilers.

This book was ok, is the best i can say for it sadly.
I liked the outline of the story, it was a good idea for a book. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book overall.

I felt like i was reading a book written by a child. The main female character seemed immature in a way that I felt awkward reading the sex seen. Also there was no fireworks when they eventually got together, it was more of a fizzle. like if you shake a bottle of soda expecting it to explode when you open it. But to find out instead it was already flat, so all you got was a hissing sound.
I feel like she could have built it up better. I understand it was a short book, so she had limited space. But i have read shorter stories with a greater anticipation for the ending than this.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't all bad. I still had the occasional butterflies at times. But feel those weren't built up enough before they ended up in bed together. Also there was no great profession of love. Basically it was like ~
''hmm I'm physically attracted to you and i love you as a friend. So lets do this, why not?''
''oh cool coz I've loved you in every way a man can love a woman for maybe a few years i think.''
''ok lets have terrible sex where i don't climax, but you do, and we just leave it at that like its fine.''
THE END.

So I'll have to say this book wasn't the best.
