Cassia Brightmore may look like the type who spends her evenings baking apple pies, but after finishing up this series I’m pretty sure normal for her involves thoughts of torture and crazy shit no sane person should google. With that said, this series was like a roller coaster that just got better and better toward the end. I won’t lie, going into this book I just couldn’t imagine in a million years how it would all tie in together, but damn if she didn’t do it. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what hell was going on.
I think if I learned anything about this series is to never lose hope in Cassia Brightmore. You may question and wonder, but she has a reason for every word she writes-have faith. Even though I felt like I needed flash cards to keep up with all the new characters in the book she maneuvered so smoothly through the story that gave you just enough but left you wanting more.
Part of me wanted to read this book with my eyes squinted as you were afraid to start liking characters because at any minute you never knew if they would make it to the end. There will definitely be a lot of “did she just do that” and “wtf is wrong with her” but this series is so worth the time to experience a truly crazy ride all wrapped up in a story that will leave your head spinning and an end that you will never see coming.

OMG OMG OMG What did I just read...witness...experience? WOW. I am going to get a hold of my emotions and heartbeat, only then will I be able to gather my thoughts in a way that might make sense? WOW. WOW. I will say this..you have to read all the books in order for it all to make sense. It's a puzzle of epic proportions. I had most of it figured out by the time I was on the last couple of pages..and the end? WOW. WOW.

West Hunt is a lieutenant for the fire department. After an incident involving his brother, he became a shut in, only leaving home for work. Until he is called in for help to catch a murderer on the loose.

Aubrey Sinclair is a librarian, and someone West fancies. So when she becomes a target for the Matchstick Madman, they're thrown together in the unlikiest ways. New allies will be formed, old enemies will resurface, can these two find the light amidst the darkness? Or will they be torn apart at the hands of the monsters on the loose? In this conclusion to the Darkness series, lives will be lost, love and trust will be tested. Will they survive it all?

Holy. Shit. After reading the first two books, I expected some crazy, twisted shit, but this was something else altogether. I never expected what I got from these pages. Intensity, angst, confusion, the like. I waited a long time for this book, yet I was so scared to start it.

Cassia has definitely outdone herself with this one. You feel everything while reading this. I loved it, I hated it, I wanted to throw my kindle. But I didn't. There were several times I had to put this down. The suspense gets to you. The angst of it all will have you going mad. I fucking loved it. While reading this I started shaking. That's how anxious I was. You will be mad, sad, you'll have tears rolling down your face one minute and the next you'll be seething with anger. This book brings every emotion you didn't realize you had out.

The entire time I was screaming at my kindle. I honestly have no idea how to feel right now. I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm pissed. It's just a jumble of emotions.

What I loved about this is that through all of it, it shows that things can get messy, that when bad things happen you have a choice, act on the horrible feelings you have or work through them and find light in the dark. This book was beautifully written, never wavering from the main plot.

Cassia did a wonderful job, bring the darkness to light. Everything flowed smoothly, and I found myself having a hard time putting it down. Anytime I turned my kindle off for a breather, I'd find myself picking it back up it piques your interest, your curiosity gets the better of you and along the way I found myself putting pieces of the puzzle together, and as usual coming to a dead end, Cassia never makes it easy, and that is one thing I love about her writing, you're always guessing. When you think you have it, BAM! something happens and throws you off. Another thing I love about her writing is that no matter how pissed off I get, I ALWAYS need more. It's addicting. The twists, the turns, all of it, it's addicting.

If you haven't read this series, you really need to. It's amazing. Give it a chance. You'll enjoy it. Promise.

*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in the Darkness series, and it is not a standalone. In order to understand not only the characters but the background information as well, you need to read the previous books in the series before reading this one.
This is a dark read that contains a lot of violence. If those things bother you, you may not want to read this book.

I have to admit that I was a little nervous to read this book. Why? Well, the previous books in this series were phenomenal, but they left me with a lot of unanswered questions. I needed to know what happened to some of my favorite characters, and if good triumphed over evil.

In this book, old enemies along with a few new ones, reappear seeking revenge, death, and destruction. The small town of Stockton Crossing has become their target. Because of this, unlikely allies join forces to put a stop to this evil once and for all.

After surviving a tragic loss, Lieutenant Weston Hunt has fallen into a deep depression. As a result, he has become the town recluse shutting himself off to everyone. Upon meeting and spending time with the pretty town librarian, Aubrey, West realizes that she is slowly drawing him out of the darkness and back into the light. Just as West and Aubrey begin to trust one another and develop a more meaningful relationship, Aubrey becomes the killers next target. Can West protect both the town and the women he is falling in love with, or will it all go up in flames?

My favorite type of book is one that keeps me on the edge of my seat with anticipation, and this book did exactly that! Just when I was recovering from one shock, Bam! I was hit with another one! This happened all throughout this book. Cassia Brightmore is truly an evil mastermind and one of my all time favorite authors. While many of my questions pertaining to the other books were answered, I was surprised to be left with a few more when I reached the end of this book. Fortunately, Cassia announced that she will be publishing a novella in Feb. 2016 that will answer those questions. I cannot express how much I need that novella now! Once again, Cassia has created an intense and enjoyable story that is filled with so many twists and turns your head will be left spinning out of control. All hail Queen Cassia! :)

An eagerly awaited conclusion to the series! I could not wait to get my hands on this book, having discovered the awesome Cassia Brightmore earlier this year I had very high expectations, to put it mildly Cassia once again does not disappoint. There are new characters which interlink with the previous books seamlessly, her writing style is smooth and flows exceptionally well. Onto the book itself, where to begin!? Twists and turns a plenty, you cannot even begin to predict which way the book is heading, it's an absolute page turner, you think you've got it sussed only to be totally blown away by a new chapter. Cassia has one very very dark imagination which transfers brilliantly into her writing. (although I think I am little bit afraid of what goes on inside her head...!) I didn't want the book to end, and most certainly couldn't put it down, even to the point of making the OH stay up late to finish it!! I'm not the type of reviewer to leave spoilers but simply express how the book made me feel, a full range of emotions with this one, anger, hatred, love, hope, despair, betrayal to name but a few!

Cassia has no fear of killing off big characters in her book(s) which makes them all the more amazing. It's not often I re read books but all 3 will certainly be re read numerous times! I thoroughly recommend this book and the whole series to any reader who loves a bit of romance, plenty of suspense and some down right dark moments! Brilliant as always Cassia, Can't wait for the next series! You lady are awesome :)

Wow! What a book! It has taken me about a week to start writing my review. Again this book has left me thinking WTF. I thought the first two books had some dark psychotic behaviors but never expected Denouement's person/s of interest to surpass the level of intensity and psychotic tendencies. This book will hook you from the very beginning. It has some really dark, sick, horrific, unthinkable, etc., happenings throughout the book that you can't stop reading because you know there is a train wreck coming.

I recommend you read this awesome dark series because it is well developed and it will keep you guessing and looking forward to what will happen next. You will love that Sheriff Brady is there to help put an end to the terror. If you love a great dark read then this is a must read!

I admit, I came in late to this series. I just recently read Malevolent and Evanesce. I don't know what made me wait so long. This series is amazing and Denouement is a fabulous finale to the series. I didn't know whether to turn my head at some parts but then there was no way for me to keep reading and figure out what happens next. It was equally disturbing, raw and beautiful. Just when you think you have everything figured out, here comes another twist. You will be on the edge of your seat THE ENTIRE READ! I loved this book and Cassia definitely has a new fan in me. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Wow is all I can say!!! Cassia has done it once more!!! She is truly the queen of dark and twisty!!! She does it like no other. The first two books in this series were great but once I got to the end of this book, I thought I knew it all and everything made sense, then Cassia dropped the boom!!!! The Epilogue will have you saying WTF!!!! Her books are always jaw dropping and I find myself saying what can possibly happen next and she always has an answer. If you like dark and twisty, you will love this series!!!

While I am sorry to see this book series end, I think it ended perfectly. As in perfectly twisted and violent, with a bit of justice and vengeance thrown in!
The Darkness Series was one of the best series of 2015, in my opinion. It had twists and turns I never saw coming. I had trouble sleeping while reading this trilogy, searching in the shadows for these dark characters to appear. This was my favorite part of all the books!
I cannot wait to see what Cassia writes next. She has a way of taking her characters to the very edge of sanity, and leaving her readers wanting more!

WOW!! Loved This Book!!

I loved this book!! I think this one was my favorite out of the series!! So many twists and turns and I found myself speechless and holding my breath waiting to see how everything played out so many times!! I was reading as fast as I could because I had to know what was going to happen next. I try not to get too attached to the characters because I don't want to be heartbroken but I loved all the characters and enjoyed seeing some from the other books!! This is definitely not your traditional HEA but I loved how everything played out and most got a HEA!! I loved this series and I am excited to read more books by her!! I highly recommend reading this series!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Denouement is the third book in The Darkness Series by Cassia Brightmore. Malevolent and Evanesce must be read first or you will be extremely lost. Besides that they are both so good you don't want to miss them. This series is dark and twisted. If you love that type of book as much as I do then don't miss this series. It's the best dark series I've read to date.

Lieutenant Weston Hunt is a fire fighter for the town of Stockton Crossing. He loves his job but a tragic event has turned him into a hermit. The talk of the town who has basically given up on life. He's well aware of all the talk around town about him but it doesn't affect him. He does however go to the library and is hooked on checking out autobiographies. Aubrey, the town librarian, is the prettiest thing West has ever laid his eyes on. He's extremely attracted to her and begins to see that the world might not be as awful as he's been thinking and that Aubrey could be his light in the darkness. Aubrey is a twin, the quieter of the two. She feels an attraction to West and a relationship begins to develop. Little do they know it's not going to be easy, especially with the Matchstick Man terrorizing the town and having Aubrey in his sights.

Friends old and new will unite to solve the serial killings, while trying to keep everyone safe. Old enemies come out of the woodwork with a determination to seek revenge for all the injustices they feel have occurred to them. Death and destruction are the norm and they won't stop till they have destroyed everything in their path.

I can not express how excited I was for this book. The first two are absolutely amazing and I've been dying to know how it all comes together and ends. Silly, silly me. This is Cassia Brightmore, Queen of all things twisted and I should have known there would be a huge surprise coming my way. This book however does not disappoint. Most of the questions I had were answered and I loved a lot of the ways theses questions were answered. These answers did not come easily though and I found myself emotionally exhausted after finishing this book. That my friend is a good thing. The sign that you've read a book that grabbed you by the throat and didn't let you go till the end. Granted I about had a fit a time or two, found myself having to pause and slow my breathing down, or relax my body as I was way to tense. Epic dark reading at its finest.

If your a fan of dark reads that keep you on the edge of your seat; shock the pants off you; cause you to run the gamut of emotions; leaves you breathless; then this is the series for you. Cassia Brightmore is an amazing author, a evil mastermind, and an author that I will always consider one of my absolute favorites. I won't miss a single future book she puts out.

Denouement (The Darkness Series Book 3) by Cassia Brightmore

Denouement
(The Darkness Series #3)
Cassia Brightmore

"Sometimes to play the Devil's game, you need to push your morals aside and step into the ring with all the ammunition you could get your hands on."
-Cassia Brightmore, Denouement

The Final Act

Once again Cassia Brightmore has blown us away with her wickedly evil imagination. The final book in the Darkness Series has arrived and it's phenomenal! Past and present collide and in true Brightmore fashion, it's explosive. Denouement is the #CassiaEffect at its best. Dark and dangerous on a whole new level.

In Denouement we meet sexy firefighter, Lieutenant Weston Hunt. He's fighting demons of his own while trying to help catch a serial arsonist. Add to the mix the sexy but shy librarian, Aubrey Sinclair and you've got a major hot factor brewing. Wrap that up with a psycho bent on terrorizing the entire town and you've got yourself one amazing story. Cassia Brightmore ties up any unanswered questions there may be from the two prior books in this series, Malevolent and Evanesce. We see the past and the present combine. I have to say, Denouement completely exceeded my expectations ten-fold. It was absolutely awesome!

Top Three Reasons To Read Denouement
3) The action and twists and turns are out of this world. Just when you think you've got it figured out, BAM, you're hit with the unexpected. Fabulous!
2) Denouement makes horror movies of today look tame. It's one of those books that you can't not read. You know crazy crap is about to happen and sh-t's about to get real but you can't look away.
1) It's time to embrace the darkness. You won't be disappointed.

Well I was finally able to find the time to read book 3 of The Darkness Series. I was able to chat a bit with Ms. Brightmore after posting my reviews for books 1 & 2 and she assured me that book 3 would tie everything together and bring everything to a head and she couldn't wait for me to read it! Well Cassia, I have to say you are one twisted b*tch! And I mean that in a really really good way, so please do not take offense! WOW...where do I even begin??? Well, the main thing I can say to ya'll out there that are planning on reading this is, just when you think you have things figured out, Ms. Brightmore comes along and blows you mind and leaves you with your mouth hanging open. Which then forces you to go back and re-read that part so you know that you actually read it right and it's not just a figment of your imagination or something from a dream you had. And be ready because this happens not only throughout the book but throughout the entire series! Not only does she f*ck with my mind throughout this entire series but I get to the end of the book and I'm just astounded about the way everything played out and with the fricking rollercoaster ride that I had just been on, but I am just fricking wiped out! Now I have a few days where I can read anything from my TBR list before I once again have to either do some beta reading or have an ARC coming in, and I cannot concentrate on anything I try to put in front of myself. There is just something that is stuck in my mind about the ending of the book...something that just has my mind going a hundred miles an hour! And well, the epilogue, although it is short, it definitely isn't sweet! So I pretty much know that there is more twisted shit that Cassia has running around in her beautiful twisted mind but I just can't help but think that she definitely left a loose thread with Aubrey and West and I can't get that out of my mind. And the way the epilogue ended, well, you'll see when you read it how she is! How she leaves things! I never thought I'd ever be so irritated by those 2 words, those 6 simple letters. THE END. Grrrrr. Well Ms. Brightmore, you did it again...you have left me completely physically drained but mentally my mind is running a fricking marathon.

Ah, the conclusion to this story is finally here. While each book followed a different set of characters, I knew that in the end they would intersect in some way, shape or form. Brightmore’s tales are dark and twisted, but it’s the romance portion of the story that I struggle with. Each character seems to almost fall instantly in love with the male or female counterpart to the story. To me, there isn’t enough build up or interaction between Aubrey and West for readers to really get a taste for their relationship. Sure, they interact at the library and there are hints that this has been going on for quite some time, but readers aren’t privy to that off page context so there isn’t ample enough time to build a connection.

While the romance fizzled a bit for me, the sex scenes sizzle. Brightmore knows how to turn the passionate heat up between her characters and trust me ladies, this one is a five alarm fire. The dark and twisted portions of the story and the series combined are spot on. You feel the intense emotions and dark intentions of these perpetrators and the painful writhing of the victims. Having a background in law enforcement and forensics, there are some minor issues with how the crime scenes are investigated that bug me, but to someone who doesn’t have a background in those areas, that wouldn’t be an issue and likely overlooked.

Denouement has its high and lows that honestly may just be due to my personal preferences or my background. While this book may not have been my cup of tea, I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that will enjoy the novel. I understand the blood, sweat, and tears that authors put into writing their books and I’m not one of those kinds of readers who will mark down every single little thing I didn’t like or didn’t agree with to nit-pick. Instead, I am just going encourage those who like twisted, dark romances to give this book and series a shot. Every reader is different and it’s those differences that make books so magical so don’t base your judgment on what one person has to say about a book. You never know what might surprise you as you crack open something new.

✯✯5 Dark Twisted Stars!!!✯✯

Wow wow wow!!! Cassia just keeps getting darker crazier and more twisted. And, I'm saying that with all my love and affection lol. I will tell you this is considered a standalone but do NOT read this if you haven't read Malevolent and Evanesce first!! Because, all of the good, bad, evil and ugly people from those stories are all back and still finishing whatever they've started.

We pick up 2 yrs after Evanesce ends. Nora and Gabe(Marcus) are living somewhat happy. Brady and Gwyn are moving forward. Now, we meet the hottie firefighter Lieutenant Weston Hunt. Weston spends his time at work or home. After he received a major loss he's become a recluse the past few years. But, lately that's starting to change.

There has been a bunch of fires in his town lately. Arson they're saying. Weston wants to find the person/people behind them. When he's not working he's hitting up the library looking for the next autobiography to take home. But, he also loves looking at the cute sexy librarian Aubrey Sinclair. Aubrey is on the quiet shy side unlike her twin sister. But, Weston wouldn't have her any other way. Aubrey has heard all the rumors about Weston. But, she likes him. They bring out the good in each other. Weston is starting to see colors and not just black, grey and white.

Before nothing is ever easy. Brady, Gabe, Theo and a few other head on over to Stockton Crossings to help them find the arsonists. They must hurry up because their next target it Aubrey. The guys better hurry up or else everyone they love is at risk.

Man, what a story! Every single question I had since book one was finally answered. Cassia did an insane job at connecting things and people in this series. I was left multiple times being like "did that really just happen". Not many authors can trick and confuse me every time. But, Cassia does. Every. Single. Time. I can't wait for her twisted mind to come up with a new story.

I received an arc of this book for an honest review. I was impatiently waiting for the final installment of this series. I needed to know how it was all connected and if all the loose ends would be tied up. The majority of the book revolved around the Matchstick Man and how he was terrorizing Stockton Crossing. I was on the edge of my seat reading this. I can't believe how twisted Cassia Brightmore's mind can be. There were so many times that I had to put the book down. My mind just couldn't handle the emotions reading this. I wanted to know what happened next and than again I was terrified to find out. I liked the new characters we were introduced to as well as catching up with old ones. Sheriff Brady James is seriously still one hot, sexy, alpha male! Things were finally revealed towards the end and it was seriously a "omfg, I did NOT see that coming"! moment. I was seriously left speechless and I had to message my friend about it. I think that the only downside to the book was I felt that the ending was a little rushed. I understand that we all desperately wanted answers and for our favorite characters to get their HEA and for the villains to get what was coming to them. But for me the build up of the whole story, who was the Matchstick Man, how were certain characters linked to what was going on, where was Gabe, when will Nora figure it out? The build up was there, the intensity of the fear of will my favorite characters be ok was there. I was along for the whole ride 100% to than have everything resolved & wrapped up starting at around the 85% mark threw me. Or maybe it's me being greedy and wanting more, wanting to stay with the characters, seeing the villains get what they deserved but in a more drawn out, painful way. Either way it was still a good story, very original and I can't wait to read more from Cassia. Her mind is one dark and scary place and I absolutely LOVE it!!!

Wow this was one hell of a page turner! I loved the first two books even though the ending of the second one wasn’t the best for me, the story of this trilogy was so twisted that just when you thought you figured something out, um no you would be wrong. I literally had to skim not because it was something that I didn’t want to read but because I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what happened next.

I have to say while I love the twists and turns this series has taken the first twist in this one actually hurt physically BUT all is not what it seems, thank goodness.

I have to say I was glad to find out that little surprise from the second book that I was hoping for was actually true but DAMN 2 years! I kind of didn’t know how to feel about Nora being fooled for that long, she knew something was off but still two years. But although we didn’t get complete resolution on the pages, I got enough to know that it all worked out for them, again thank goodness. lol!

The end of this was just well wow, I was like what could possibly happen next. There was one HUGE thing that I didn’t see coming, along with several other twists. There was enough closure for me in this one even with that WTF epilogue. I was really hoping that kid got saved from all that but I guess not and we see that there was one freak who got away apparently. But we also got to see that obviously something worked out…yeah this probably makes no sense but I can’t say too much because it would give too much away and you just need to read these books.

I don’t know what or who will be in the novella but I’ll be reading it. I love these characters and would love to read some calm boring novellas about them now that this mess is pretty much over or when it is all over. Because damn I think I need to read about them being okay as much as these characters need some peace at this point. I am exhausted after this one……

~*~ Obsessed by Books copy given in exchange for an honest review ~*~

"With a happy sigh, he tossed the flame over his shoulder, lighting the box on fire. Without another look behind him or a thought of the gut wrenching screams, he disappeared into the inky blackness of the night."

Strap on your big girl pants and suck it up cupcake as this third and final (?) book in this series had me throwing up just a little bit in my mouth..it was that dark and delightful! Seriously twisted all the threads from the previous two weave together to reveal the complete picture. Like waiting for a Polaroid to develop you think you have it figured it just to be shocked when you look again...

A small town has a serial killer in the loose. Each victim escalated from the last with the crime becoming more heinous. Torture and death leaves the town frightened but do they have any leads as to who the Matchstick man is? West is motivated by the icy grip of terror and he seizes the opportunity to reveal his interest in the reserved yet beautiful Aubrey, the librarian. Trying to help solve these horrific crimes he is struggling with his memory..Familiar faces appear to help as Theo, Gabe and Brady feel in their guts that there is more going on than meets the eye.

You just read the other two books in this series as this really is a continuation of both books, pulling the characters together and joining the dots. Not everyone survives and as far happy endings...jog on if that's what you need to rate a story five stars. This is dark, it is grim but irs engaging and has moments of tenderness and love. It explores the darker nature of humanity and all the broken pieces we hide under our masks of civility. A wonderful read! But the prologue suggests we may get a little more...

A five star deliciously dark read.

Without a doubt, the best of this series!

The first and second books are more like romance novels with a crime twist; heavy on the cheesy Harlequin stuff, lighter on plot and character development. If not for the downplayed appearance in the second book of the main character from the first book, one wouldn't know this was a continuing series. Upon opening the third book, however, it's immediately apparent we're going to find out how it all ties together in this aptly titled tome.

Denouement is so busy doing that, in fact, careening us from victim to victim and revelation to revelation, the romance is kept to a minimum. Yes! Ms. Brightmore maintains a taut pace with this book, offering tons of action and squirm-worthy scenes with our maniac. It kept me turning page after page and actually reading them - as opposed to what I did with the second book, which was to read the action scenes and skip the Wisconsin cheddar.

I still think this series could have benefited from more pages and a slower approach. The denouement to Denouement felt a bit rushed, despite the overall fast pace of the book, and I felt (um, how shall I say so I don't provide any spoilers) "the acceptance of certain truths" came a little too quickly on the part of certain characters. The editing could have been better throughout as well, both for grammar/punctuation and fluidity, but it isn't anything I would consider detrimental, only mildly annoying. ;)

Overall, this series was enjoyable and worth the read, especially once I got over my initial misconceptions of what it was I would be reading. Further, I was glad to see the author improved with each book. Practice makes perfect - which nobody is - but continual improvement is worth striving for, and Ms. Brightmore definitely achieved that. I actually hope Ms. Brightmore will become Ms. Writemore and treat us to more like this one. :)

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Oh my where to start! This was the darkest of the three in this series in my opinion. I was flipping the pages as fast as I could trying to figure out what was happening, what was going to happen and who was responsible for what. There was so much going on in this final book. Cassia Brightmore did a wonderful job combining all the books from the series together in this finale. Even though this is about Aubrey Sinclair and Lieutenant Weston Hunt Cassia brings back all our favorites Brady and Gwyn, Theo, Gabe and Nora, Sam, along with all the evil ones from Malevolent and Evanesce.

Lieutenant Weston "West" Hunt has been a hermit only work, home, and going out into town when necessary he tries to stay away from the towns people and their whispers about what happened in the past. Now there is a serial Killer in his town and he is determined to help.

West is drawn to the town librarian, Aubrey Sinclair. Only problem is she has also caught the eye of the serial killer. Can West and the others stop the serial killer in time or will Aubrey and the town go up in flames.

There were so many twist, turns, and things going on with bringing in things from the Malevolent and Evanesce and then adding this new storyline was great. I loved how the series was meshed together into this final book. I flowed so well and kept me on edge trying to figure out the mystery of how all the puzzle pieces fit together. OMG that Epilogue wow I have no words for that. OH, and what is this I see as I scan Goodreads there is a 3.5 to this series Repentance in the works I cannot wait to see what that is about.

I'm not sure if you have picked up this series but I have been fortunate enough to have been given a copy of DENOUEMENT so here are my thoughts.

This is probably one of the hardest reviews I have tried to write. Ok Lets me honest for a minute I have had a difficult time posting reviews for each book.in The Darkness Series. No....STOP... It is not that these books are bad actually it's quite the opposite. I know that whatever words I choose could not do the author justice.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on DENOUEMENT! Cassia Brightmore has developed characters and a plot that leave you not of the edge of your seat but barely hanging on. If for an instant you think you have her figured out let me assure you that you do not. She is a master of screwing with our minds (and I mean that as a sincere compliment) Your emotions with be taking a roller coaster ride and then some.

FEAR......HORROR.....SHOCK.....AMAZEMENT......BETRAYAL....LUST.... it's all found between these pages.

What I really love about her writing is that it's reads as if you are watching a movie. You not only are getting thoughts from the primary characters but all of them. The different points of view coupled with the way they are seamlessly written gives her work a unique element.

As for the story itself....you must read it to understand the full effect. This is a truly exceptional series but I will advise that it contains dark subject matter and may not be for everyone. I am going to stop here only because I do not want to inadvertently give away any spoilers

description

DAYS, it has taken me days to find my words and I promise they are still not the best and will probably be a jumbled mess.

Cassia Brightmore has one messed up mind, she went places that I never thought of and to make everything fit together she has to be an evil mastermind. This is the third book in the Darkness Series and if you haven't read the others, stop, turn around and go back to the beginning.

Aubrey is the town's cute little librarian; nerdy. sweet and about become a pawn in the deadly threat that has come to town. Weston is the town's sexy but reclusive firefighter and he is going to try to save her. This threat brings these two together and the chemistry is pretty undeniable but this evil that plagues the town is ruthless.

In a intricately woven tale, the past and present weave themselves together in this final installment. To find out who is behind the deadly fires the good Sheriff enlists help in the most unlikely of places. We see all the players of Darkness past and they all play a part, some shocking and some expected. I should have known by now to expect the unexpected. I was ready (and a little bit scared)but still I never saw some of it coming.

And then...
we get to the end.

And DAYS later I still have no words to adequately describe my feelings. I needed to join a support group. I needed a hug. I needed a stiff drink. And now I need more.

I have loved Cassia Brightmore's work since I first devoured Malevolent. Her books have, if nothing, gotten better with each one she writes. Although it doesn't surprise me. Her mind is a frighteningly delicious place to be, and I couldn't stop turning the pages, eager to know what happens next. We see the return of familiar faces, and fall in love with new ones. In Denouement, the town is being turned upside down by a serial killer - one who likes to play with fire. I found myself covering my eyes (it's a BOOK), getting those goosebumps that only appear when you are on the edge of your seat in fear, in tears, laughter, and full out yelling (shouty caps are a definite in this one).

Weston Hunt is a firefighter who is fighting his own demons. He becomes intrigued with Aubrey Sinclair, the quiet town librarian, who begins to rekindle in him a bit of what he was certain he'd lost, thanks to events of his past. In this series finale, we see the return of Sheriff Brady James (who still makes me giggle and swoon), Gwyn, Nora, Gabe, and many others. Together, they work to find the killer who is wreaking havoc on the small town of Stockton Crossing. The killer who even spreads wrath as far as Durham Heights - the little town that can never forget the events of two years ago, when they endured the very same torture.

But Cassia Brightmore has a way of making things definitely NOT as they seem. You will gasp. You will get angry. You will cry, yell, and want to throw your kindle, paperback, whatever. But she is amazingly talented with her words. And you will be satisfied.

With a big twist just beginning with this book was an awesome way to start. WOW! So much happening with Nora and Gabe leading them onto a path of secrets, lies, betrayal and truth. Every aspect of this book interlocks every character in the series so far and brings us to a surprising turn of events that will make you want to not stop reading this. With danger coming from every direction and two people finding themselves on a path neither saw coming.

West spent his time at work or home. He did enjoy reading and would go to the library in town. He enjoyed his time he spent there with Aubrey, the librarian. She was shy, beautiful, always polite. She never passed any judgment towards him. He found the more time he spent at the library the more he was able to see the slight blush of pink that would blossom upon her cheeks. He felt at ease with her in ways he hasn't felt in a long time.

Aubrey enjoys her time at the library. She has an ease with the patrons that make use of the library. She has heard the stories regarding West, but from all of her interactions with him have always been pleasant. More often than not she has enjoyed her visits and has found herself feeling more shy and embarrassed than normal around West.

When tragedy strikes this small town and sets everything into a darkness that threatens the lives of everyone, love, faith and strength are the only thing some have to hold onto.
