Jess is doing what he does best. Hunting down the worst of men for the bounty on their heads and stopping them from committing any more heinous crimes against the innocent. He rides into the town of Grayson, Texas, with a dead body in tow.
There, he finds a beautiful young woman by the name of Julie Handy, who has two sons. He immediately becomes attracted to her and his mind begins a tug of war within itself. One part of him wants to stop hunting men, stay with Julie and try a new way of life. The other tells him he’s not finished with ridding the west of the worst of men. He was finding himself at a crossroads with his life.
The struggle continues in his head, but then things turn deadly. Three murders and a bank robbery in Grayson, along with a dire threat to Julie’s safety, force him back into the business. One of the three men who robbed the bank, sends his two partners back to Grayson to kidnap Julie.
He hits the trail hard with anger and vengeance coursing through his veins. Along the way, the struggle within him continues. Can he choose another way of life or does he have to continue on the one that was chosen for him. That was a decision he would have to make once he found Julie, praying she would still be alive when he did.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
Almost a 4. The clueless dumb blonde heroine blew it out of the water whining about Jess killing people. He saved her. Saved strangers under Indian attack. Saved a town from being terrorized by 2 murdering bullies and when he is threatened by a man determined to kill him she has a temper tantrum because Jess is going to defend himself. There is good news. He dumps her at the end of the book.

Especially well written, this one addressed it all, romance, action, compassion, and even humor!
Action, romance, compassion and humor. It was refreshing to find that Jess wants a normal life but cannot ignore the constant threat of being ambushed from those seeking revenge.
Jess Williams deserves love. I was happy to see him find in for a while. Then bad guys interrupt and his lifestyle gets in the way. But in the end Jess had to move on but not before he takes care of his last and her boys. I love these stories. Great writing.
Well sure am glad Jess saved Julie,of course knew he would. Even heard her when she said she loved him. Maybe he did really did love her. Bad life to live with no one to go home to. J D.
Once again Mr. Thomas has written a fantastic Jess Williams story. I do hope that we will see Julie and her boys again. I believe that it would add another good side of Jess to write about. As the books keep coming, we see the softer side of Jess, and what he does for people. Keep them coming Mr. Thomas, I look forward to each and every Jess Williams story.
I have to say, Robert J. Thomas, isn't writing fast enough. Crossroads may be hi best one yet. I can't wait for number 44. I enjoyed this book immensely. A different insight into Jess Williams' character. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all of you western fans. So, Giddy Up.
I noticed the price has gone up one dollar on Mr. Thomas's books. That's fine, but they are too short. <180 pages. Otherwise, I would give it five stars.
Jess has met another woman who he gets involved with, but she just doesn't seem right for Jess. He is still a bounty hunter who is generous with his money.
Thomas hits another one out of the park. Jess falls in love again, the real thing. Annie McCracken was the first and now Julie. He gets revenge for her by killing her kidnappers. Fun read like all the Jess Williams books.
I have read all of Mr. Thomas's 43 books and feel that they are Great. If you like westerns. You will enjoy them as much as I Did. Try and read them in order if you can. Mr. Thomas just keep on writing.
This book should be rated at the top of all of Mr. Thomas' books. It has both adventure and romance in a good, hard to put down story. Keep up this kind of story in future books. Thanks.
