And the decline begins. The writing is still there, but the story is starting its downward turn into silliness and losing me in caring for characters because ... of story things. I do not want to spoil anythng, but a couple of character revelations were weak and kind of left field and the 'relationship' is going from one point to another with skipping ALOT of steps in between.
Started off strong but now things seem to just be cracking at the seams.
Lots of different monsters fill the pages of the fifth book in the Supernatural Bounty Hunter series, as did several surprises—not the least of which is that the Drake Corporation would like to recruit Sydney to work for them. This twist, corrupting their most dangerous adversaries, was a good one as we have run into corrupted agents before and this helped to explain how that happened. There are also growing troubles at the FBI as what looks to me to be more Drake Corporation influence affecting the agency that is supposed to be bringing them down. Overall, this is probably the best book since the first one because of the surprises and the wider variety of threats. I’m looking forward to seeing what Smoke and Sydney do next.
Another "did not disappoint"... though I have to say that things are going in a direction I hadn't quite expected.
Note: these are NOT stand-alone books. You really need to start with number one, and read them in order. If the first one doesn't suck you in, then the rest of the series probably isn't for you.
Sydney Shaw and John Smoke go after yet another member of the Black Slate. The FBI continues to mess with Sydney and her liaison status including not keeping their bargains. The deaders continue to be an issue with them getting more challenging every time. John Smoke allegedly assassinates Congressman Wilhelm, or did he? Some of the descriptions or conversations are a bit, not sure how to say it, goofy, because the professionalism I would expect to see with the FBI is a bit lacking (but hey, it's fiction). Still a fun series, fast to read, and not too cerebral. Audible version with great narration by Holly Adams.
These just keep getting better and better. It's so nice to see the bad guys get their due. Would live to see some of our own creeps in sheep's clothing get theirs. Too bad that part is fantasy. Makes me know just how badly I wasted my youth. But "vengeance is mine," saith the LORD.
Not the type of book for everyone with all the descriptive words for sounds. But this is an action book filled with fighting helicopters and lots and lots of guns. I enjoyed this read slow to start but I’m invested!
This book adds to the first with move characters and development of the originals while it is a Bit repetitive it’s still and enjoyable read.
Addition of new things and twists and turns is awesome !
Audiobook review- Worthy listen with interesting foes and likable lead characters. Entertaining storyline with plenty of action. The narrator did a great job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Format: audiobook Narrator: Holly Adams A riveting instalment that tugs a little on the heart strings. Interesting characters and just why are the drake so interested in Sidney? The intrigue continues
There be Giants here! The baddies get more insane in all kinds of ways as these stories progress. Just as the relationships between our heroes, their helpers and hinderers are changing and morphing in all new directions. This was a game changing volume. I loved it! Next!
I just couldn't put the book down. I was hooked since book 1 and finished book 5 andI can't wait for book 6 to come out. Awesome read and hungry for more of the series. Cherie Harlow
