Alliance by M L Callahan

Two stories.
The overview is immortal aliens on earth with agendas to kill Timewalkers and overthrow the alien monarchy. Triscani vs. Itaran.
The second story is the Timewalker with a mission to save the world from destruction. Alexa needs to stop a new strain of Ebola from killing 96% of Earth's population. She is sent forward in time to try to find where the virus get released. A cut throat alien hide, seek, and battle ensues.
It's intense and thrilling and I enjoyed the dark threat that hung over the story.

A different shorter version of the story was previously published as Red Night by Michele Callaghan, so while I knew what was going to happen, it was only at the outer edges. This book was much more substantial, complex and gripping.
It's the first in a series

I received a copy of this book at a readers conference.

Young Adult / New Adult Sci Fi Adventure Romance

Alliance by ML Callahan is a fast paced adventure that eventually includes a romance. Alexa is a frustrated young twenty something woman who’s been holding off on making plans for her life because she’s part of a maternal line of Timewalkers and hasn’t been contacted by the Archivists yet to start her important mission, or even know what her mission will be. On the verge of falling to her death after a car accident, she’s finally contacted and saved, only to be quickly told all about a threat she must eliminate, by herself, or almost all the people on earth will die. She’s then abruptly dumped back on earth by herself to complete her mission.

This story doesn’t linger anywhere for long. There’s action and sweet romance along the way, all while Alexa is trying to figure out who the players are and who’s a good guy and who’s a bad guy. Alexa has a nifty power that we quickly find out about, and by the end there are enough side characters and hinted at behind the scenes goings on to leave you wondering where the action will go next.

The author had a lot of great setting details mixed in, which really added depth to the story. This is definitely ML Callahan’s strength. Other details, though, became overdone at times, and didn’t allow readers the chance to use their imaginations to fill in the blanks. For example, detailing out everyone’s precise bodily movements, telling us details or plot points more than once in multiple different ways, and over repetition of people’s names instead of just saying he, she, etc. Overall it was a mixture of really great writing with some choppy parts.

I like reading sci fi, action and romance, especially all together, and this story had them all. You will not be bored or wondering when things will get moving again. I felt the story ended abruptly, but the core mission of the book was accomplished and there are enough dangling threads and interesting characters to leave you wanting to read the next book. I give this 3 stars mainly for writing style that could use some smoothing out, otherwise I would rate this higher.

Well written and well paced, action-packed sci-fi.

Alliance has a fantastic and interesting plot and wonderfully intriguing characters. The main character Alexa, was my favorite. She’s part bad-ass and part victim of circumstance – she’s born into a family of timewalkers and has to deal with her ability to travel through time. She can also “bend light” which makes her invisible when she wants to be. Alexa time travels for her very first time in this novel and is handed a mission to save the people on earth from a (**oops- -no spoilers here**) that could wipe out the human race and also save the planet from an alien invasion.

The layers of deceit and manipulation happening between the different alien characters had me fully absorbed into this sci-fi adventure. Plenty of awesome bad guys that you just can't wait until they bite it! There’s a little bit of military involvement and some romantic elements thrown in to nicely round out this story. I loved all of it.
I can’t wait for book 2! Highly recommend this one!

In the Timewalker novel Alliance, M.L. Callahan creates a world similar to earth, but yet wildly different. Aliens live among us and are either trying to protect humans or kill humans. Though the world building is a little light – I’m still not entirely sure I filed all the players correctly in my mind – the overarching storyline is well-crafted and well-written. The immediate conflict is resolved believably and gives the author many jumping off points as the series continues. I was hooked from chapter one and was disappointed I didn’t have a couple hours to dedicate to reading straight through. As it ends on a cliffhanger, those that hate to wait will want to hold off reading this book until she has a few more in the series finished. If you don’t care and are looking for a new sci-fi / paranormal series to launch into this is a great place to start.

I feel like I was holding my breath through this whole book. It was absolutely thrilling with a very unique and refreshing story, and I am desperate to find out what happens next. Alexa is a very powerful individual, and Luke makes a great protector for her. They are a magnificent pair. Droghan was terrifying, but I can't help but wonder what made him that way. Could there be more to his story? Celestina and Bran are quite the intriguing pair as well. There was non-stop action, and the battle was one of the best I've read. I was cringing and on edge the whole time, and it was fantastic! Alliance sucked me into its fascinating web right from the start. I loved everything about it, and I know there are a lot of great things coming in this series. While this book answered a lot of questions, it did a wonderful job unveiling many more mysteries and secrets.

I think I read it before

This book was good but it wasn't brand new. M l callahan used to write as Michele callahan and this book was simply a retelling of red night. If you didn't read red night I would recommend you read this book. And if you did I would still read this book to see what changed. I am assuming other books in the original time walker series will also be redone so it will be interesting to see how the differences change the overall outcome. I do hope this series continues both redoing old stories and adding new.

I loved this book. I gave it only a 4 because it was a bit hard for me in the beginning to understand who was who and what was going on. By the second chapter it finally came together and was very captivating. I loved the plot and the imagery she used. This books sexual contain is very tame but still had a cute love story intertwined with the action. I can't wait to read the rest of the series when they come out!

Can one change their destiny?
What if your destiny was preordained? What if you had no choice in what fate had planned for you? Alexa comes from a long line of Time Walkers, women who can change what will be or make sure what will be, will be. She tries to run from that responsibility but fate is a fickle *itch and events that can change human existence pull her back, and into the arms of a man whom she cannot resist and comes to rely on. Fast paced, edge of your seat reading!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This one started out slow, but ultimately gave an intriguing read, especially as it offered more detail. Alexa is a time walker, able to travel back and forth through time to influence or change events. Hunted by the powerful alien Droghan, she must battle to survive and follow through on her task to save the annihilation of the human population. As the first book in what will be the Timewalker series, I recommend it.

I quite enjoyed this book. the first chapter started a bit slow, but that is to be expected with a sci-fi learning curve. once into the second chapter things picked up and didn't let up. I've become very invested in this story line and will definitely be picking up the rest of the books in the series!

I heard a lot about is book. I did enjoy it, and I want to read the next book. The story was slow in the beginning, as I continued with the story, I came to realize that the story needed the details. It was a very good read and it kept my attention. I would recommend this book.
