The men of Twisted Steel are great with their hands.
And they're not afraid to get dirty.
Mick Roberts, the newest partner at Twisted Steel's custom hotrod and motorcycle shop, looks like a man with everything. But secretly he still craves the connection he lost when his best friend Adam and the love of his life Jessilynn walked out. Then, he wasn't ready for the pleasure they promised. Now, things have changed.

Rich, powerful, and insatiable, Adam Gulati is used to getting what he wants. And there's nothing he wants more than Mick and Jessi. He hasn't seen either in over a year, but the second he sets eyes on them again his memories-and his desires-can't be denied.

After trying to live without them, Jessi Franklin realized no one else can satisfy her like Adam and Mick. The three of them need one another-in more ways than one. It's time to stop pretending and submit to the hunger they all share. But once they go down this road, there's no turning back. As deeply devoted as they are, no one knows what great bliss their forbidden fantasy will find-or the price they may pay . . .

A sweet, HOT and touching tale about acceptance, tolerance and love.
“You see me. Flaws and all. My ugly parts. My weak parts. And you love me despite that. I’m afraid of f*ck!ng it all up.”

Four years ago none of them were ready to be together, let alone face the scrutiny of the people who should love them above everything else. But Twisted Steel’s expansion celebration has provided the perfect opportunity for Mick, Jessi and Adam to see each other again, clear the air and take a second chance at love.

Back from his tour of duty, Michael “Mick” Roberts is setting roots by accepting to be partner at Twisted Steel. Adam Gulati, naturally domineering, needed to know himself first and learn control. Jessylin “Jessi” Franklyn is also back and ready to face the truth her heart won’t let her deny any longer, which is that she loves two men. Their love for one another is undeniably sweet, tender, deep and oh so sultry. But their connection needs to fortify before it can bare the turmoil their unusual situation will undoubtedly face.
“Look at us. Right here, being there for each other like we should have been. This is good, Jessi. This is us being us. And we can’t make it up-happen, but we can deal with it honestly now. We don’t have to break. We bend and fortify… Together we can get through anything.”

Jessilyn met and loved Mick when she was five years old and later on in her teen years she loved Adam. The three were inseparable friends before they were more. The “more” is tenuous because of the rarity of its nature with two bisexual men and one woman with endless amounts of love. Regrettably their budding romance easily broke at the first bump in the road, that being Mick’s family finding out about their relationship, sending each of them on their separate ways.

This is one of the parts I really wish the author would have given us more of, their backstory. I felt as though there was this huge and wonderful history I was missing out on. Their love gooey sweet, enough to give you cavities, and beautiful and it deserved to be told from the start.
“You’re my addiction. The thing I need more than anything.” Always so tough. So taciturn and grumpy. And yet, so very tender it broke her heart sometimes.

Coming Back seems to begin as though the characters have pressed play in the middle of a story that had started a long time ago and had been paused giving it an insta-lovey semblance.

Perhaps for this same reason it took me a little bit to connect with the characters. I did know a little about Mick from his appearance in the previous two books in the series, and felt for him, for his self-loathing and his lack family support and worse their scorn and condemnation.
“You’ve gone through a lot of sh*t. Dealt with casual cruelty over your life. Everything you’ve experienced is part of who you are. It’s made you the man I love. The heart of a warrior. Dinged in places, maybe a little rusty here and there, but it’s strong. I love all the parts of you. Even the annoying parts that like opening the milk cartons the wrong way.”

Adam suffered from something similar, when his powerful father only cares about appearances and so his public lifestyle choice is not acceptable. Jessi’s silent suffering even though a bit over the top for me was understandable, coming from such a giving and peace loving family I could appreciate why she wouldn’t share past offenses that would only cause conflict.
“How is it you’re so much in such a small package?”
“I’m told I’m a dynamo.”

The connection between Mick, Jess and Adam is incredible. Their interplay is naturally erotic, filled with sweetness, love and sensuality, and a maturity they didn’t have before. But most of all a surety in themselves and each other that is necessary to help them overcome the past and enjoy their future.

There was also the humor which all three main characters possessed providing smiles and giving the story a balance between the sultriness, the drama and the poignancy.
“Adam, everything makes you horny. It’s like your superpower.”

As with previous books, Lauren Dane incorporates a sense of family with a wonderful group of loving people that support the main storyline. In this case characters from the past two books as well as Jessi’s folks.

This book was hot, hot, HOT. No doubt about it. Even though ménage is not usually my thing, this is a beautiful story about love and acceptance of self and from others and I think that the world would be a better place if there were a little bit more love and tolerance and a lot less judgment.
“Careful how far you push me, angel. I’ve got years to make up for. Every man you’ve been with needs to be stripped from your memory as nothing but inferior.”

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance (explicit, sexual awakening, ménage between M/M/f)

Coming Back is book #3 in the Ink and Chrome series by Lauren Dane. It is a standalone, full-length contemporary erotic romance, filled with scorching hot scenes, family drama and lots of “send me to dentist I’m getting cavities it’s so sweet” moments. Told from several points of view, with a happy ending.

One: I have a horrible memory and can't remember what it was I wanted to say about this book
Two: But really, why do I have the memory of an 80 year old?

Anyways, going to keep this on the short side.
Jessi, Adam, and Mick were childhood friends that turned to more when they realized they all had feelings for each other. Life got int he way of them, though, and they ended up separating for years and not talking. Now, they're all back in Seattle and the attraction is still there.

I liked this book, but it was no where near my favorite Lauren Dane book. The characters were interesting and I found them really sexy, but I also felt like I was missing something. It seemed like I was getting the end of their story and missing out on a lot of the beginning and how it started. I hate constant flashbacks in books but with this story I actually found myself wanting a few, or at least their past to be discussed more so I knew what happened.

I did enjoy the sexy parts and how close the three characters were. They each went out of their way to protect the other two, and you could tell that they really loved each other. I adored their relationship and seeing them work through it, even though I was wanting a little more. Overall, a good book that I think all fans of LD will enjoy.

“I love them. Both of them.”

This was an adult contemporary romance, about a relationship involving three people.

Jessie, Mick and Adam were all okay characters and it was clear that they cared for each other. I did wonder how a three-way relationship would work though.

The storyline in this was about Jessie, Mick and Adam meeting up again after some time apart and deciding to rekindle their previous love affair, as a threesome. The sex scenes started pretty early in the book as these three had known each other previously, and the whole romance thing seemed a little rushed because it was more about getting back together than getting to know each other, which was a bit of a shame.

The ending to this was okay, but overall it seemed like not much happened in this book other than the romance.

The concept was good but there were some things missing for me personally. To start with we meet 3 best friends who loved each other 4 years ago and got separated. At a grand opening party they each realize, they still love each other. I would have loved a prologue with a little of their history together and maybe also some details on their 4 years apart. Then they almost directly move in together. This was a little bit too soon for me, even if they loved each other 4 years ago! They were younger and they have all changed. The story is nice romance but I would have love a little bit more drama or suspense. We only get a few short interactions with non-accepting family members.

What I did like were the characters. Jessi, Mick, Adam, their friends and Jessi’s family were loveable, great and understanding. The sex scenes between Jessi, Mick and Adam were hot! The chemistry was good.

So if you love romances with not too much suspense and drama and a nice menage MMF relationship where 1 of the male members is more dominant, this is the book for you.

Carve out my heart with a rusty spoon and smile whilst I slowly bleed to death. In Coming Back, this is an emotional ride with the too good to be true Jessilyn. Of all the girls in Ink & Chrome series to date, Jessilyn is the one I feel most sympathy towards. She lost the most and yet she still is a loving and warm hearted woman. She's giving to the point of risky her own health. The characters in this book really made this book good for me.

Jessilyn grew up with Adam and Mick. They were the three musketeers so to speak, and when they became old enough, this strong friendship morphs into something more. The "more" is special and fragile. Unfortunately, before the bonds could be cemented, it's shattered and the three lovers are violently flung apart. My heart hurts for each one of them. What I liked about this story is how Ms. Dane does an excellent job of showing the difference between two families. Both families are very religious. Both are Christian families. It is how they demonstrate and show their Christian values which is worlds apart. This goes to show it is not the religion which is suspect. It comes down to humans, how humans are flawed and behave in ways that do not make sense.

The dynamic between Mick, Adam and Jess is so good. The sex is erotic and delicious as expected from Ms. Dane. The three of them love each other in a mmf triad which is my preferred ménage formation. The sex is sweet, sensual and smoking. These three coming together now is better because they are all older, wiser and better able to handle societal judgment. The three of them are stronger and it's a bondage of beauty. It also helps when certain old hurts come to light.

The suffering Jess goes through in silence is hard for me to accept. I understand why she does it. I just don't like how she is left alone and when something as big a secret as this comes to light, you know there is going to be a reckoning. For a much loved daughter, there will be hell to pay when her parents find out how she's been abused. The plus side is it brings Mick and Adam back to her faster. I think this story can best be summed up with "If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours". This erotic romance is recommended for ménage lover who believe in happily ever afters.

5 Coming Back

Who doesn’t love a great second chance story? I totally do because the characters are more mindful of each other. I love that. I think that is one of the biggest reason second chance love stories are my favorite.

Jessi, Adam, and Mick

These three have history and it was nice to see that. I enjoyed how they came together and even though three in a relationship isn't normal they make it work. Because for them it is THEIR normal. They have a hard time with Adam and Mick’s family accepting them but they don’t need them to accept them. Is it hard of course but they love each other and that is what matters.

They are all very different and need each other for different things and that's I think is why they work so well.
Also, can I say this about the sex...HOLY HOT!
Woohoo to Jessi for putting out her hard limits and they totally don't try and make her try things she clearly doesn't want to. DANG RIGHTS!!

I LOVED the narration, I wished more of LD’s books were narrated by Sasha Dunbrooke.
I want more more more of this series! Heck, I just want more Lauren Dane books! <3

COMING BACK had everything I look for in an erotic romance: an inked up bad boy gone good, check. A wealthy dominant who doesn't take himself too seriously (even whilst wielding a whip), check. A woman who can make said dudes so crazy with lust that they fall all over themselves to be with her, check. Add in a fab group of friends, some diabolical meanies and the guys gettin' it on with each other just as much as with the chick, and you've got one smokin' read that'll leave you begging for more!!

Four years ago, Jessilynn Franklin was left brokenhearted when her best friends and lovers left her, Mick Roberts to reenlist back in the army and Adam Gulati because he needed to get his shit together. Now, all three of them are back in Seattle, and Jessi is done with the longing, the guilt and the what-if's. She's ready to reclaim her men, and nothing is going to stand in her way.

Both Mick and Adam know they royally fucked up when they left Jessi four years ago, but Jessi isn't about to listen to their self-recriminations. They've known each other since they were kids, and now they're older, wiser and better able to handle a threesome relationship than they would've been had they stayed together. But their families are another matter, as both of the men's families are vehemently against their unconventional relationship. But family is what you make it, and Jessi's family and Mick's Twisted Steel friends fill that void perfectly.

If you've read any of my reviews, you know that I have a not so secret obsession with MMF erotic romance, so I was sooooo excited to finally get to COMING BACK, book 3 in the Ink & Chrome series. These three characters were so brilliantly written that I couldn't put this book down from just about the minute I picked it up. From Jessi's kooky and kinky personality, Adam's "debonair dom" persona and Mick's need to punish his body to make up for his perceived sins, all three of them were well developed, empathetic and had a surprising depth that I haven't seen in the other books in this series. Plus it was crazy hot. Witness:

"The things I want to do to you..." He nearly snarled.

"Are all pretty damned fun so far as I've experienced."

"I want to rut. I want to mark you. Bruise your skin. Bite you. I want to see rope marks in your flesh. I want my come all over your tits. Your face. I want to debauch you. You should be afraid."

But she wasn't.

Oh lawdy...is it hot in here or is it just me?? WHEW! Beyond the fabulous chemistry the trio had, the witty yet poignant banter and the mother effer' variety dads of the dudes, the sex was beyond delicious! Because I read this in paperback form, I frequently lamented not being able to easily hold the book and flip pages with just one hand, as I really could've used some extra digits during some of those scenes! It's official: Ms. Dane has moved into my exclusive "Authors to Auto-Buy" list. The trophy is in the mail!

Bottom Line: I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I sincerely hope that Ms. Dane keeps going with the Ink & Chrome series, as Twisted Steel has no shortage of inked up dirrrrrrrty boys just begging to have their stories told. BUT, if this IS the final book, then it's a fabulous culmination of an uber terrific series that'll leave you swooning over dudes in coveralls when you least expect it. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...

Three is definitely not a crowd…

Jessi, Adam and Mick had a lot of history. Mostly good, some great, but after five years of almost silence they were giving their relationship another try. It wasn’t going to be easy but they’ve all changed and things are different... they are different…

“I could never hate you, Adam, and if I did, I wouldn’t be here. I’m here because I’ve always been here, just waiting for you to remember that.”

They love and desire each other (oh yah, the heat level is set to scorching between these three) but they also care deeply for one another. Why they separated years earlier is not fully explained for me but a triad in the real world is not a cakewalk so maybe five years of living put things into perspective. No matter how hard things get, love is worth it even when facing one’s harshest critics—friends and family.

They are back together but you can see the caution, especially in Adam and Mick, as they tackle each hiccup. They want to make things work but so many of the things that broke them apart in the first place still exist. Jessi is the most willing to let the past stay there but she’s making sure the same mistakes aren’t going to be repeated or let slide. Did I mention I want to be Jessi? I do. I really, really do. She’s so Zen I thought she might be too perfect but then she goes and wants to throat punch someone. That is perfection!

This story was a slow stroll through working things out in and out of the bedroom while digging deep to find what’s really important to each of them. The chemistry and banter between the three really made this book for me. Oh, and the humour! Well, the sex was pretty spectacular too.

“Patience,” Adam said.
She raised a brow his way. “Are you new here?”
“Adam, everything makes you horny. It’s like your superpower.”

I laughed, I got misty… Jessi’s parents had me wanting to find their house and ask for a hug. Interesting characters trying to deal with life the best way they can… With lots of love… ~ Diane, 4 stars

the first 2 books in this series were enjoyable and while this one did start off interesting, as it got going it turned into nothing but sex. hot sex yes, but there's only so much P in the V before it becomes a blur. it's a m/m/f book and while i've read books where threesomes take place (who hasn't) i haven't really read a story where the main end game was the central 3, usually 2 of the three go off and one moves on. so i thought this one would be more about dealing with that core relationship, making it work between the 3 but it wasn't. it was sex and not much story. i was looking forward to micks book, all that alluding to his 2 lost loves in the previous books was such a tease!! unfortunately the story of jessilyn, adam and mick mostly happens in the past and now the reader see's them as they rekindle their relationship now 5 years on. i just felt no connection and got easily bored. meh. shame as book 1 and 2 were cute and sexy reads. if you want erotica, give it a try because it's hot but characters from previous books are heavily included so start at book 1.

I wasn't impressed at how this story started.....I felt like there was a couple of chapters missing and it took a while for the back story come to light, but once it did I found myself really into it and I think it was probably the best of the series.

Jessilyn Franklin is done pretending she didn’t want two men and she’s done letting anything stop her from being with Adam and Mick in this captivating romance.

One night changes everything for Jessilyn, Mick and Adam and the reader can’t help but get caught up in their story as they face an emotional storm while to trying to make their way back to each other. The chemistry is a sizzling inferno of passion and the it’s obvious that these three are better together than apart but the relationship has an abundance of past emotional issues to overcome along with a multitude of present issues to deal with and the reader can feel the turbulence that flows from the pages as these strong compelling characters capture the heart with their desires, passions and motivations that are easily understood while the steady to fast paced plot ensnares readers with suspense, turmoil and romance.

Expectation and tension build throughout the story not only due to the threesome’s rebuilding of their relationship and adjusting to the present but also because there is plenty of opposition coming from family members that increases the emotional angst and pressures of the relationship. The intriguing events and story line draw the readers in and refuse to let go while the well written scenes make it easy for the reader to become completely engrossed in the characters and their story.

Lauren Dane pulled me in to this gripping story from the very beginning with the opening scene showing that the characters already had a past relationship and while Jessilyn knows what she wants she feels vulnerable and a little hesitant to move forward and as I was quickly charmed by Jessilyn, there was no way that I could put the story down until I knew how it would work out and as for Mick and Adam, let’s just say that I am completely jealous of this relationship.

I'm not a big fan of second chances with my romance book, but what really worked with this one was how right from the start Mick, Adam and Jessi talked about their problems in the past and how they plan on changing things in the present. What was important to them was to be with each other.

Jessi was the glue that seemed to hold them all together. I loved Jessi, she was so cute, like a puppy, yet she had no issues about putting the guys in their place when they needed it. It was also great to see how Jessi and Adam fit in with the Twisted Steel crew, a big thing as they were family for Mick. I was a bit worried that the TS crew might not accept Mick with two people, but none of them cared, they were just happy Mick was happy and more settled in his own skin. This was a good thing as Asa went to Adam to help deal with an issue that was quickly becoming a problem for Mick.

The ending to this one was great! I loved how the TS family grew and how there was so much happiness for them all!

More like 3 1/2

Alright read, but a good finish to the series.

Again the issue of dragging it out. The same things get hashed out over and over in the chapters. I did skip some just to get to the ending.

The sex is hot it got like way kinky and I am not truly into pain not my thing.

Parent issues were abundant again at least some one had good parents...Jessi.

Adam was intense and it seemed more his story the Mick's. I felt Mick was kinda left out in some ways. Kinda disappointed.

Not sure if this one is worth the price.

I feel like something happened during the writing of this book that made it fall off the rails. A fight with the editor? Rush to finish?

I am a big fan of the first two books featuring Asa and Duke, respectively. I think they were 4.5 star ratings for me, which is about the highest rating I give unless a book sends me into a reading coma. This book...I don't know. I would take the bones of it, a few of the sex scenes and the general plot and then rebuild everything else around it. Remove scenes that don't add to the plot (IMO, there are quite a few of them).

There is so much information missing. How did Mick, Adam and Jessi come to be friends? We learn about Mick and Jessi, but that's pretty much it. How did things move from friendship to more? What exactly happened when Mick's father caught them? What happened when Mick walked away? What happened when Adam walked away? Why did a simple invitation to their opening turn everything around? What was the contact between the three like during their years apart? What's the story with Hamish? What did Jessi's father say to Mick's father when he showed up at Jessi's parents house? What happens with Adam's father?

Another issue is the choppy writing. Each chapter starts at a different point in time and it isn't clear what happens "behind the scenes."

I like the way Adam and Mick love Jessi. I don't really get Adam and Mick's relationship. They claim to love each other, but I don't really see it. Their focus seems to be on Jessi. In general, I think Lauren Dane does a good job of making sure her characters communicate with each other. A lot of authors seem to overlook this. In this book, some of the conversations feel redundant. Some feel a bit cheesy too:

“Here we all are. Improved but not perfect. Holding fast to one another to be the best we can possibly be. And that’s why I trust it. That’s why it’s special. That’s why I love you both more than I ever thought possible to love anyone and not die from it. This is our house. This is our bed and our stunningly gorgeous Jessi with our supermodel dog. This is where we’re supposed to be,” Mick said.”

Also, from a general copyediting perspective, at times I got lost in who was saying what to whom. This book is written in third person, but the character of focus switches to give insight into each of the three MC's perspectives. This is an interesting way of telling the story, but requires particular care in removing any ambiguities about the people who are interacting and being clear about whose perspective we are getting. I find this to be particularly challenging in novels where you have a same sex relationship. The pronouns get really confusing. In this case, you add in a third person and it's a whole new layer of potential confusion.

Coming Back is the third book in the Ink and Chrome series by Lauren Dane. All could be read as standalone book with each featuring a different relationship of one of the owners of Twisted Steel. This particular installment features Mick Roberts and his relationship with his long time best friends Jess and Adam.

Mick, Jess and Adam grew up together and knew they all loved one another but things tore the trio apart in the past. When Mick gets home from the service he takes time to get his life together before meeting back up with Jess and Adam, inviting both to a celebration hosted by Twisted Steel. Mick and Adam both have families that don't accept the fact that the guys are bi-sexual which has led to a lot of tension for the trio but none of them have ever lost their love for the others.

One thing Lauren Dane does well is putting together characters that seem to fit each other perfectly and make sense. The steamy chemistry between her characters is never lacking in the least and that can be said for this particular book as well. I didn't particularly care for Adam's dominance at times but it's who he was and he did seem to fit into the trio well regardless.

What I did feel was lacking in this particular book was expanding on the plot outside of the relationship between Mick, Adam and Jess. There are family issues brought into the dynamic but it seems like a lot of times it ended up being put in as an after thought and could've been given a lot more attention.

Overall, a male/male/female relationship with a lot of steamy chemistry but a bit lacking in plot beyond the relationship dynamic.

ABOUT THE BOOK: December 8, 2015

Arriving back in Seattle after five years, Jessilyn Franklin is done pretending she didn't want two men. She's done letting anything stop her from being with Adam and Mick, now back from the war and working at Twisted Steel, a custom hot rod and motorcycle shop. One night changes everything, but their relationship must strengthen to weather the storms they'll face as they make their way back to one another.

•••

REVIEW: 3.25 stars---COMING BACK is the third installment in Lauren Dane’s contemporary, adult INK AND CHROME erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of Twisted Steel custom car and motorcycle shop. This is costume designer Jessilyn (Jessi) Franklin, Twisted Steel partner and former soldier Michael (Mick ) Roberts, and graphic designer Adam Gulati. COMING BACK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

NOTE: COMING BACK is an erotic, romance storyline with M/M/F and M/F/M sexual content and ménage situations including anal, oral and three way sex.

Told from several third person points of view COMING BACK follows the rekindling relationship and romance between Jessi, Adam and Mick. Five years earlier Mick went off to war leaving Jessi and Adam struggling in their new found relationship- a forbidden relationship that once included Mick. Fast forward to present day where Jessi and Adam return to congratulate Mick on his new partnership at Twisted Steel, and jump back into the threesome as if the years apart, and past history had never happened. Jess, Adam and Mick have been life-long friends, and with it comes the history and knowledge of Mick’s abusive relationship with his father, and Adam’s fall from grace from his family. For years, Jessi’s family has been the one constant source of love, acceptance and familiarity for Adam and Mick.

COMING BACK focuses on hatred, discrimination, and dysfunctional family values. Mick and Adam are both bisexual: Mick’s father considers his son an abomination and uses his own religious beliefs to destroy the man that Mick has become. Adam’s father has no love loss for his youngest son, and believes Jessi is the common denominator influencing both Adam and Mick. What ensues is a heartbreaking look at two families torn apart by homophobic misconceptions and old-fashioned ideals about family and God. All of the storyline conflict is external to the rebuilding relationship-conflict that began years before.

The relationship between Jessi, Adam and Mick is one of second chances. All three of our leading characters have been in love with one another since childhood, and the trio never expected anything else growing up, but Mick went off to war, and Jessi left when Adam struggled with their continuing relationship. The $ex scenes are numerous, erotic, exploratory and provocative with M/F/M and M/M/F sexual situations.

All of the previous storyline couples play secondary and supporting roles. We are also introduced to Jessi’s non-judgmental and loving parents, as well as Mick and Adam’s hostile and sanctimonious families. Jess’s foster brother and musician Hamish makes a cameo appearance-here’s hoping his storyline is next.

COMING BACK is an interesting storyline but in my opinion fell short in the depth and development as most of the premise focuses on the relationship between Jessi, Adam and Mick-physical, emotional and psychological. Jessi has always been the one constant in Mick and Adam’s lives-a constant that is blamed for Mick and Adam’s bisexuality and twisted lifestyle. The external conflict of homophobia should have been better developed; Mick and Adam’s dysfunctional family dynamics could have made for a more in depth and darker premise. Also, there was something about the storyline flow that faltered at times, as though the editing process cut away the descriptive narrative and text.

Lauren Dane is one of the first authors that I read when I started reading romance, so she will always be one of my favorites. I am a huge fan of hers and she is a truly great writer. That being said, Coming Back was not my favorite book of hers. While I wanted to love it, there were just too many things that didn't work for me.

Returning home after years away, Jessilyn Franklin is ready to stop pretending. Though Adam and Mick both walked away from her, she is tired of living without them. She tried to move on, but the love they shared is worth sacrificing her pride for. So when she receives an invitation from Mick to attend an event at Twisted Steel to celebrate Mick's partnership, she views it as the perfect chance to lay it all out for both Mick and Adam. But in order to have a future together, the three of them will have to face their past and everything that happened to separate them years ago.

Mick, Adam, and Jessi were all likable enough characters and it was clear that they all cared about one another. I have to say that while Jessi was likable, it was almost too likable. She was the nicest, sweetest, most forgiving, full of hearts and flowers character I have ever seen. It was too much to be believable. I kept waiting for her to get real, and that just didn't happen. Mick and Adam were likable, and they were definitely sexy. But I didn't really feel invested in their relationship or this story. While the three of them were steamy together and definitely cared about one another, I just couldn't get into this book like I wanted to.

Part of my problem with these characters was the fact that it felt like we were dropped into the middle of a story here. While this book is a standalone (even though it is third in the series), it felt as though we had missed half a book here. There was no prologue or lead in, we just start right off with these characters reconnecting after years apart and things move at warp speed from there. I wanted more of their past and what had happened to make the guys run as well as what they all had experienced apart. I was expecting to get more build up to their reconciliation, but these characters just jump right into a serious relationship like nothing much had changed. It wasn't realistic, and unfortunately that was where I started to lose interest. Since all of that happened within the first 10% or so of the book, it made it really hard to feel invested in these characters or their story. As much as I love Lauren Dane, I was bored for much of this story and it just wasn't what I have come to love when I pick up a Lauren Dane book. While this one wasn't my favorite, I will definitely read more from her in the future. If you like menage stories or are a fan of this series, I still recommend giving this one a shot if it sounds like something you would like. It wasn't a bad book by any means, it just wasn't my favorite. Readers should know before reading that this is a full menage story with a relationship between Adam, Mick and Jessilyn and if that isn't something that you are comfortable with Coming Back might not be the book for you.

Not a happy camper here. Yes, I do enjoy a m/f/m menage story especially with all the steamy sex scenes written in detail, but this one I did not quite enjoy. Characters are Jessilyn, Adam, and Mikey as our threesome. I had to work at understanding parts of the verbal exchanges, like something was missing and I had to read it several times and then go back to the beginning of the dialog to get the idea and then sometimes the whole thought would drop and it would be lost completely. Case in point, Jessilyn is supposed to have some dream like psychic ability but we never get a true example. She states she dreamed about some 'purple gloves' but it never fully surfaces as a lead into something supernatural or just a fun coincidence happening. I read 'purple like a ripe fig', then Mikey hugs PJ and whispers in her ear, so okay and....? Maybe I was just sleepy. Plot idea was good and the characters themselves were likable. I just had problems with the dialog and incomplete thoughts. Also, what did James, Jessilyn's father say to John senior, Mikey's dad. Because...'His fathers's spine stiffened. He stepped back, but the expression on his face was one of anger and shame all at once. Then he turned and walked to his car without another word, and drove away.' Bad author, bad, bad, bad. You cannot just leave that there. Did James have proof that the old man screwed his dog and he will hold that against him if he ever returns to bother Mikey? Come on we need to know. Am I the only one here? If anyone knows the answer please let me know.

Unfortunately this one didn't really work for me. I'm not a huge fan of flashbacks in stories because it slows the pace a lot, but I almost think Coming Back needed it. I felt I had stepped into a story but was missing vital parts to their existing connection. This wasn't a big deal but stopped me from really connecting to the characters. My biggest thing was that I didn't really buy into Mick and Adam being together. Their whole connection centred on Jessi and I don't like that in my menage romances - quite simply there wasn't enough MM in here. I like my MMF to be that if the F was gone the MM would still be solid but I don't think this was the case. And lastly there wasn't really enough going on in the story to keep my interest - too much everyday, mundane boringness to fill the pages. I was disappointed because I did like the first two in the series and I'll read more, it's just this one didn't float my boat.

I love anything Lauren Dane writes so it pains me to say this book didn't work me. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story. Having more information on Mick's past with Jessi and Adam would have really helped.

While this book is definitely not short on sizzling sex, I felt it overtook a lot of the story. I found myself wanting more conversations outside the bedroom for petesakes.

I enjoyed having Asa, Duke, PJ and Carmella make appearances here and there. I just wish it kept me more engaged.

Oh well.

Jessilyn Franklin is done pretending she didn’t want two men and she’s done letting anything stop her from being with Adam and Mick in this captivating romance.

Sorry.. this was a 3.5 - 4 star read for me... the threesome dynamic just didn't work all that well as it does in her other series.

I was disappointed in Mick's personality in this book, I really through he was this brooding hardcore alpha, after reading the previous book, but then in his own book he turns into this emotional mess.

Overall, it was a good read, but I just struggled to get through it.. I felt like I was stuttering through as it didn't feel like the story really flowed for me....

Coming Back is the 3rd book in the Ink & Chrome trilogy. This story focuses on Mitch who is in love with a woman-Jessilyn and a man-Adam. The three began exploring feelings for one another years ago, but the relationship quickly came to an end when Mitch left for the military, running from his feelings. Now, Jessilyn has moved back to town where Adam lives, and now Mitch; she's tired of hiding her feelings and she isn't about to take no for an answer when it comes to making the men realize what they could have had and could have again if they'll only allow themselves what they need and want.

Reading this series has been quite a journey for me. I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the first book Opening Up. The next book Falling Under wasn't as great for me but had its moments. Now, Coming Back...what to even say. The whole time reading this book, I didn't know where I stood with liking it and how to rate it. Even writing this review I haven't officially decided on a rating yet.

This was definately my least favorite book of the trilogy hands down. It was nowhere near as good as the first book, and I didn't even enjoy it as much as the 2nd. In the beginning I was still excited to read this book and the plot sounded enticing. I love stories of relationships with more than two partners, but sadly this one didn't deliver as much as I was hoping it would.

While the story kept me entertained enough to keep reading and finish the book, it felt like it took forever and I was slowly muddling through the book the entire time.

This story focused a lot on the past occurrences and less on the present and future of the relationship and the characters. Also, I didn't feel as connected with the characters and the story as I had been in the past, and the story didn't seem to flow as easily as the others. Again, while this book wasn't terrible I do feel slightly disappointed as I felt like this book didn't really deliver what I was hoping it was. It feels like the books slowly went downhill in this trilogy and this book could have been so much more than it was. After Opening Up, this book really doesn't compare in my opinion.

I love Lauren Dane’s books. The End.
Sometimes I wish it were that easy to convey the oh so many feelings and thoughts I have while reading one of her books. Each series has its own unique flavor and resonates with me in a slightly different way. As I said in a previous review, Ms. Dane doesn’t write cookie cutter novels. She doesn't plop same character/different name into a Doppelgänger plot. However, there is a common thread to all; beautiful and complex family, friend, and lover dynamics that blow me away with their accuracy and emotion. Coming Back wraps up the Ink & Chrome series. Or so I hear. I guess I missed class that day. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but there did seem to be a few indications during the course of this book that there is yet another story to be told…

Coming Back is technically a stand-alone, however, I would highly recommend you read the other two before jumping into this one. Opening Up and Falling Under really get into the nitty gritty world of Twisted Steel, the custom hot rod and motorcycle shop owned by Asa Barrons (of book one), and Duke Bradshaw (of book two). I loved how the inner workings of the shop featured prominently and reflected the personalities of the characters. Coming Back leaves Twisted Steel in the forgotten background, which was a disappointment even though it works for the plot.

The end of book two left us with Twisted Steel undergoing a pretty serious two-fold expansion. Business has grown to the point they not only need a larger, fancier showroom, they need another partner. Asa and Duke have offered a third of the business to Mick, an old buddy recently returned from a few years away in Iraq. It was made clear in book two that Mick had some problems he needed to address, and Ms. Dane did a good job of making us wonder and want more. She gives us the more in Coming Back.

The opening of this novel is one of the few times we visit Twisted Steel. It is the grand opening of the new showroom as well as the announcement that Mick has come on board as a partner. It is here we meet Jessilyn and Adam, two people who mean the world to Mick. It is a reuniting that has been four years in the making. Mick, Jessi, and Adam have been in each others lives since childhood. If one believes in such things, as Jessi does, they are fated to be together.

She believed she had a life she was supposed to be living. She believed being with Mick and Adam was a choice she’d been meant to make since the first time Mick had ever kissed her and Adam had punched him and kissed her too.

But sometimes people need to go off on their own, slay demons, burn bridges, whatever necessary to clear the way for the real journey. Which is why when Mick went off to war, Adam drifted away from Jessi, and Jessi moved to another city. It was what they were supposed to do. Until now.

Mick had sent Jessi and Adam invitations on a whim and they were both there. Both looking at him the same way they always had, and it was simultaneously the best moment and the worst because he’d left them behind. He hadn’t seen Jessi in nearly four years.

Thus begins the real journey for Mick, Adam, and Jessi. Ms. Dane throws us into the deep end of this complex relationship right off the bat. Even though they’ve been apart for four years, their reunion instantly ignites a bonfire of love and passion mixed with memories and past hurts that must be worked through. Fortunately, and this is what I love about Ms. Dane’s novels, there isn’t that annoying back and forth of I’m not good enough, you deserve more, blah blah nonsense. Her characters don’t make you want to tear your hair out. Yes, there is drama. Good drama. And it always serves to keep the story moving in a forward direction.

Jessi is the dreamer, the one who holds faith in the goodness of people. I loved her ability to see the positive side of people and situations while at the same time not taking anyone’s bullshit. She loves Mick and Adam deeply and it shows in virtually everything she does. Her creativity as an artist, her gentle soul, and fierce devotion to family and friends are enviable. She makes life look easy. Mick and Adam’s fathers are influential, controlling bastards who have never liked Jessi or her loving family. They still harbor anger and resentment over the fact that their sons preferred Jessi’s family over their own while growing up. They used that anger to make the boys lives miserable then, and are attempting it again now that the three are back together. It is the background drama that highlights how far both Mick and Adam have come in their lives, and their utter devotion to Jessi.

Mick, the bi-sexual, warrior, bad-ass mechanic, bare knuckle fighter uses pain as a means to punish himself for his shortcomings. Finally submitting to Adam, trusting him to understand his pain, opens Mick like nothing he’s ever experienced in his meaningless hook ups.

All the fighting and the high adrenaline stuff like racing and even dangerous stuff like multiple tours in Iraq were Mick’s way of punishing himself. But in Adam’s hands, the pain was a caress. It was a loving way to wash away all that loathing, all the toxic, vile stuff his family made him feel.

While Jessi may be their anchor of goodness, Adam is the captain of the ship. He is the Dominant Jessi and Mick need. Not to control every aspect of their lives, but to guide them and keep the relationship on track. He is the voice of reason during the stressful dealings with his and Mick’s families. He has the clear vision and innate understanding that makes him a very hot Dom in the bedroom. The sex between these three is sizzling as they reacquaint themselves as friends in addition to the next level - lovers. This triad is really very beautiful.

Coming Back is another beautifully written novel from Lauren Dane. She always amazes me with her ability to create fascinating characters that are down-to-earth, sexy as hell, and just a bit damaged to make them even more loveable.

If you're looking for a book with a lot of threesome (m/m/f) hanky panky, this is the book for you. If you are looking for a book with more depth to the characters' relationships, this isn't it. I will confess to not having read the other two books in this series, so I can only guess at the quality of those books. I found the characters to be two dimensional and the lead female protagonist to be a bit too forgiving of the men who left her behind 4 years ago. Her family seems a bit too perfect compared to the families of the fellas involved in the threesome, one being an abusive situation and the other being big jerks. Neither of those families sees any value in Jessi. Perhaps I was looking for something a little more 'true to life' than what I was finding here. A bit of a disappointment.
