This was quite heavy going in places, but still worth a read.
It was written in the 1960's, so The Spice Girls and Millican and Nesbitt don't get a mention.

Still reading but I wish the author would speak plainly. I had to google what Debussy’s scandal was because the author skirted over it as “an ignominious domestic wrangle”.. I’m thinking did he beat his wife? And then Debussy faced “journalistic misinterpretation”. I still can’t figure out what this means. Also, so far, filled more with the author’s redundant opinions than facts or other sources. He writes so much without saying anything. He fan-girls over style without describing any characteristics. He tells of great techniques of masters without delving into any of the techniques.
