If you are looking for some really original fantasy, (whether or not that is to be found anymore, is a question for another time) this one is not for you! This book is the first part of the classic German fantasy epic from the 80's and a true piece of heroic fantasy. Mythor is the sole survivor of a mysterious people and we quickly find out that he is the subject of an ancient prophecy. He is saved by a princess, who in him sees the Savior from the impending darkness, and thus the stage is set; let the adventure begin.
The concept borrows freely from Howard and Moorcock and it's an easily digestible fantasy yarn and I rather have a Conan-like character destined for greatness than the stupid, reluctant farmboy.
