"Elaine Levine is a wonderfully fresh and original voice in western romance. RACHEL AND THE HIRED GUN is full of fast-paced action and powerful emotions. I loved it!" -- Joan Johnston, New York Times bestselling author of A STRANGER'S GAME
"A pair of appealing, well-matched protagonists (with a bit of a history), a slimy villain, well-drawn secondary characters, and plenty of action make this rough-and-ready Western one that fans are sure to enjoy." --Library Journal on AUDREY AND THE MAVERICK
"A beautiful romance…keeps the reader hooked from the first page to the last.” -New York Times Bestselling Author Catherine Anderson about LEAH AND THE BOUNTY HUNTER
Though this is the third book of a romance trilogy, the story stands quite well on its own. Elaine Levine gives us a multi-level story about trust and being able to overcome personal fears to achieve a goal. Set in the post-Civil War era, Leah and the Bounty Hunter gives us a window into the rough-and-tumble lives of our settler-forefathers and what they did to succeed against lawlessness and the incredible challenges to settle the old West. An enjoyable read, recommended. --Monica E. Spence, Historical Novels Review on LEAH AND THE BOUNTY HUNTER

ABOUT ELAINE:
Elaine Levine is an agoraphobic who lives in her son’s basement and runs doggie daycare for his pack of hounds. Her mind, however, is irrepressible, and she fills the endless moments of endless days crafting romance fiction from dystopian headlines she reads online. Be warned—her stories are addictive and dangerously appealing to those with similarly twisted minds and hopeful hearts.
My favourite of the series so far. Greer was trained by his grandfather from a young age to be a warrior and an assassin. Remi is a sociologist studying isolationist cults and one of them is the Friendship Community. When she starts to look at the stats and population of the group, something doesn't add up. And who are the Watchers? And what does the WKB have to do with their neighbours? what does King have to do with all of them?? Many storylines converge and diverge as with all the books in this series. Keeps the reader on their toes with all the twists and turns. Still enjoying the series!
She's done it again! I couldn't put the book down. I love how with each book Elaine gives you a better understanding of her characters and brings new facets to them. I can't wait to continue reading this series and to see where everyone ends up and of how they got there. Great Job Mrs E!!
I loved this book!! It had me in the edge of my seat. Couldn't put it down. Elaine keeps you in the story like you are there. I love her writing and it get better if that's possible! I highly recommend this book and series!!
Obsessions are always the spicy key ingredients in this twisted and mysterious series. With each new book the reader keeps getting pieces to the puzzle and many times those pieces are not finished but add onto the big picture. In Assassin's Promise we finally get to look at one of the many mysteries in the series, The Friendship Community, one of the most reclusive and oldest American cults. Dr. Remi Chase is without a doubt a fantastic character who represents very well a sociologist’s drive for understanding something as complex as a cult. The passion, obsessions, and ethics of well conducted research, despite her inner conflicts, breed nothing but admiration for her. Greer Dawson is a character that fascinates. A cyber genius with clear black and white views of the world and a magnetic personality that's equally noble as well as lethal. Remi and Greer joined forces to discover many of the darkest secrets within the Friendship cult as well as its connections to WBK all while revealing overwhelming feelings about each other. As in all of the books within the series we are charmed by the friendship and personal conflicts of all the old and new characters. We are left hanging without air and screaming What? How? Why? Who? Thinking about three crucial cliffhangers. Speculations, brainstorming, and what if are your only way to survive until the next installment, War-Bringer, which is planned to be released sometime during next summer and we can only hope to have the answers we so badly crave. For now, rereading is our only option.
There are parts of this one that I really liked, parts not so much. What didn't really work for me was the couple, Greer and Remi. I had a hard time buying into their big romance. It never really gelled for me and moved really fast without chemistry.
What did work for me within this book was the team as a whole, how each member seemed to counsel other members. Val had some wise words for Rocco and his struggles, Angel did the same for Mandy. A lot of the women were there for Remi, while all the guys were there to give Greer a hard time as another of their group fell. Lion got advice that seemed to help him and Ivy and Mandy have something new to bond over.
Friendship Village started out not working for me, it seemed like any other cult you've read about. But that changed as things went on. What won me over was how at the end certain members of the Village stood up to those that tried to do bad and put them in their place. I have a feeling that going forward the Village will go back to it's roots and thrive and maybe even help the Team if needed.
I had no idea where this book was going every step of the way. It zigged and zagged and twisted and turned. It was a page turner from the first word! I love this author and this series!!! She did NOT disappoint this time either!! If you're looking for a great read, u need to read this series!!! OMG!! This was a wild ride and I'm bummed it's over already!!!
This author is one of the best. I love her books and this series especially. Assassin's Promise is a nail biter that holds you captive with each turn of the page. You will not be disappointed if you read this series or any of the other books that the author has written. I can not wait to read the next book of this series. I recommend that you start with book one and read all of the books that least up to this book (book 5 of the Red Team) it is well worth the time.
I was a little unsure of this one at first as Greer is a difficult guy to understand. I needn't have worried though because as usual this book had me laughing out loud and marveling at the insane connections I never see coming. The ending is brilliant and absolutely evil. Can't wait to see what happens next!
read books 1-4 several years ago and now the series is finished (though there could be a few more novellas to look forward to with any luck.
these are amazingly well written and complex books with each one adding that bit more to the ongoing thread that ties them all together. great romances, good strong characters and talented storytelling
Elaine Levine - Assassin's Promise – Greer- Remi (Red Team Series - Book 5)
(Approximately 12 weeks have lapsed since the Red Team started their investigation in Wyoming).
Ms. Levine's writing style has her readers turning the pages to find out what will happen next. I typically only purchase Series, but, Ms. Levine's Series is set apart from the others from the perspective that her books set the stage with updates from where team members were in the last book.
I love that since it can be months between books, so it helps me to recall quickly where we were and where we are going. In addition, no other author that I have read gives updates on each of the series characters so we are updated on their status during the current installment. Since those of us that read lots of series, I am appreciative that Ms. Levine respects her readers enough to do this for us. This method seems to address all threads and leave none “hanging”.
Book 5 stars Greer Dawson and Dr. Remington (Remi) Chase. The Red Team is made up of X-Special Ops guys working for Owen Tremaine, owner of the company. They are “consultants” to Homeland Security (DHS) tracking down local and international terrorists. Their tracking has taken them to Wyoming and many strings tie the White Kingdom Brotherhood (WBK) biker gang to various terrorist activities.
Dr. Remi is the Assistant Professor of Sociology at the U of Wyoming. Remi has studied American cults for over 15 years. The Red Team consults with her about her current study of the local cult, ‘The Friendship a pacific group’. Quickly it becomes clear that the Brotherhood cult and WBK are working together somehow and young people are being used to test a bio-weapon of smallpox.
As the book continues, you will be on the edge of your seat when the WKB and a man name KING go after Remi. Greer will protect her with his life if he must. He also knows that the entire Red Team always has his back and will be there for Remi and him. And, of course you will fan yourself with HOT HOT passion with Greer and Remi as they explore love for the very first time.
I highly recommend this installment and if you have not read the other 4 and the 3 wedding novellas, I suggest you give yourself a treat and buy them too. You deserve it.
Review: ASSASSIN’S PROMISE (Red Team Book 5) by Elaine Levine http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-36T Publication Date: September 22, 2015 Romantic Suspense/ Contemporary Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated 4.5 Stars
REVIEW: The Red Team Series is one of my favorites and this new installment was no exception. I was so glad that Greer found his someone. I never really warmed up to Remi like some of the other women but I liked her part in this story and completely enjoyed the smoking hot romance between the two of them. I must say I was a little surprised by a part of Greer’s story (I won’t give a spoiler on this) but it worked and it was touching. I loved being with the Team again and witnessing their easy humor and stunning moves when faced with danger. Yes they all have their ghosts to deal with but they also know the Red Team members are there to help them through. I read this nail-biter story in one sitting and then was bummed that it was over. Now to wait for the next one.
I have been drawn in by this series since book 1, it's a must read. The writing is flawless in its intricacy. The plot has more twists and turns than a roller-coaster, but not once do you feel as though you can't follow it. The characters are as complicated as they are deep, although Greer seems to be a very straight forward thinker. His outlook on life is a simple one, he says what he thinks & he simply states the facts. There is no censure in what he says, it just simply is. I enjoyed that about his character, it was unlike the previous characters. All of the Red Team are strong alpha types & Greer is no exception, he is dominant but willing to listen to reason & common sense. He is willing to fall head over heels into a relationship with Remi long before she is ready. Remi has secrets that she desperately wants to bury, secrets that make her afraid to trust & commit. I did feel for her because i could really feel the internal struggle & conflict she was going through, but there were times she frustrated me, especially when Greer began to struggle with her indecision. When she could no longer deny her attraction & feelings for Greer i wanted to punch the air & shout `hallelujah'. The two of them practically sizzled all the way through the book & the sex between them was so hungry & intense i had to fan myself....whoar! We delve deeper into the ongoing storyline in this book but we're still no nearer to identifying the elusive `King'. It's just sooooo good, although i can't believe the cliffhanger ending....OMG!!!!!! Gutted that i've got to wait to find out what happens next.
I *wanted* to love this book, I really did, but it fell flat for me. Maybe too much time had passed between books or something. I'm not sure. All I know is that it took me weeks to get through it, and I almost DNF'd it at twenty percent because I just couldn't get into the story. The pacing was slow at the beginning, there was a lot of telling not showing, I couldn't remember who was with who, the leads weren't that interesting, and several characters knew more than they should about each other or events. I finally forced myself to push through last night, and things picked up, but at no time was I invested in the stories or characters.
I'm kind of bummed about this one since the last book was so good. Based off other reviews, it was just me who couldn't get into it.
I love Elaine's writing and characters. We get to hear Greer's backstory in his own words which gives us insight into his dark world. Remi has an interesting history and profession which lends itself well to Greer's life. I had a hard time warming to Hope in Max's book and let that affect my overview. I think my problem is I like Ivy and Mandy so much that I unfairly judge the new characters. I felt it happening with Remi- which is odd because she is perfect for Greer.
We still have little knowledge of Angel and I look forward to having his life unfold for us. As always Val, Owen, Kelan and Selena entertain, but I was especially pleased with the continuing story of Kit, Ivy and Casey.
This didn't work for me as well as I wanted it to. I spent 1/2 the time trying to figure who, what and when and frankly even then I was lost for most of the book. There are so many threads to try and keep up with, I think that the impact of the story is lost. That being said, I am looking forward to Kellian's book and love the title. I just hope the writing gods smile on EL and she is able to write like the wind to get this one to us.
Another great story in this series, although the vibe between Greer and Remi was not as prominent as with the previous characters and their books. They got their in the end, but they did not have the spark on paper like the others, this could have been because of what they were hiding. However the story was great the significance of Sally/Rebecca Morris, was very prominent. The ending was fabulous, where have Lion and his pride gone? Who has Fee?
Such a good addition to this series of stand alone but continuing storyline books. I love readings books by this author. Wish they all were whisper sync. Now...to wait for Fiona's story, highly recommend ...gotta read them all if you like strong alpha men and strong females they love along with exciting stories.
sociologist and the sniper..unlikely duo. tense and intense tale of lust, love, bio terror, violent and traitorous mc....criminal pacifists....dedicated ex special forces enclave protects the professor while Fighting terror.
Worth every day I had to wait for it. Once again, Elaine has totally gotten me caught up in the Red Team world and I don't want to come back to reality, feel me?
This series gets better and better so much more than a standard military romance, the high arch between all the books in this series is brilliant as are each of Elaine Levine’s characters.
Up until this installment of Red Team, Greer hasn't been particularly interesting, nor had his character been well defined--maybe because Max is such a handful!!
When Greer Dawson gets a look at Dr. Remington Chase he's like a dog with a bone. Things progress quickly between the two and before you know it, she is back at the ranch with the rest of the others hiding out from that pesky WKB and the mysterious King. To be honest, my interest in King is waning and if we don't find out who he is really soon, all interest for me will be lost--it's been drug out long enough. We need to find out who he is so we can dislike him in the flesh.
Like everyone else in this series, Remi has her demons as does Greer (no one in this entire series has had a "normal" upbringing or life and like birds of a feather, they flock to each other. The WKB and King apparently want Remi dead and Greer will stop at nothing to make sure that doesn't happen. A ghost intervenes with the WKB’s plans and new horrors are unveiled.
The typical stereotypical story ensues. Remi and Greer return to the ranch and the next episode begins where this one leaves off. I appreciate that Levine continues each story from the last and provides highlights to catch us up on the next before diving in.
Dr. Remington Chase is a sociologist renown for her work with cult communities throughout the country. Greer Dawson is a former Red Teamer, an exclusive special ops team, now with Tramaine Security, special consultants hunting terrorists in America. Greer is searching for a girl he promised to protect. Remington is finding her work with cults more and more dangerous, especially the Friendship Community that Greer is also investigating. When Dr. Chase is threatened, Greer can't help but get involved. Remi's attitude, secrets and vulnerability call to him. Despite her inability to commit, or release her insecurities, Greer pursues her. They pursue and expose everything from bio warfare and terrorists to ghosts and pedophiles. Greer and Remi become great, strong and loving partners. The story is well paced and plotted, but leaves just enough unknowns that you must keep reading the series. Fascinating.
This has been a fantastic series, and this book was no exception. Although I have already read most of this series when it first came out, I have really enjoyed rereading/reading about this awesome team/family again. It's certainly not a series that you'll want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Warning: this is not a series that can be read out of order. Each book features a certain couple which gets their own HEA/HFN ending, but there's also a secondary plot that is continued throughout the series. It would be very difficult to try starting in the middle of the series. I would highly recommend that you start from the beginning and read the books in their correct order, which is listed in the back of each book &/or on Amazon. I know that you'll be hooked during the first story, and you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!
Greer was trained to be an assassin from a young age by his grandfather. He is trying to locate the girl that tried to assassinate Kit in Honor Unraveled, and is convinced that she comes from a cult called the Friendship Community. Remi is sociologist, her research being based on cults. She is currently studying the Friendship Community, therefore Greer comes to Remi to find out more about the "Friends" and see if the girl he is looking for resides with them. To be honest, I felt no chemistry between Greer and Remi. I think that their relationship moved way too fast and I just didn't buy their romance. Greer and Remi are my least favourite couple so far, even more so than Kit and Ivy because they at least have some previous history. However I liked the suspense element of Assassin's Promise, and I couldn't wait to have my questions answered regarding the Friends and what is their connection to WKB and King. Thankfully, Kelan's story is next and I simply cannot wait!
You really need to read the books in order of publication to get the best from the storyline. Greer and Remi's story. The storyline moves along with pace, pulling the previous books even further along and deepening the backstory. We not only learn some of Greer's history, we also learn more about the Friends and Remi's history. Events within the team's lives continue to progress and the character development is totally engaging as various members undergo life changing events. There are some sex scenes, each of them appropriate and proportionate to the story and all of them loving.
With each book in this series, I am pulled farther and farther into the lives of the Red Team and their partners. This book was about Greer Dawson and Remington Chase. It took us farther into the dastardly goings on of the WKB and other characters we've read about in earlier books. We were also given glimpses of what's happening with the rest of the team.
For some reason, probably because there is just so much out there to read, I had taken a break from this series. I will definitely be reading the next book sooner rather than later!
Greer is such an enigmatic man, and how he falls for so hard for Remi is truly endearing. I loved Remi in this book. She was tough and stubborn, a little broken but super clever. Their love story is actually one of my favorites from this series.
The ongoing drama and suspense in the story line of this series just gets even better.
I love that all characters are included in these books, it makes it feel like you haven't lost touch with characters from previous books.
He was an interesting one and it was great to find out more on the 'nerdy' guy behind the computers. Over the series I though of him as tall and lanky and this one proved how wrong I got.
The heroine I was skeptical about in this one. However over the book she comes into her own strength. Then this is the start to finding out more of the tangled plot we have going on and boy is it a complicated one!
