My name is Blair, and I just moved to California for my new job as a lawyer. I would be competing with another guy for the full-time position. The only problem was when I went in for my first day I found out that my competition was none other than Aiden. He was my best friend in high school… But now he was different.
He wasn’t the skinny boy I once knew.
He wasn’t the kind sweet boy I once knew.
He was muscular and tattooed and had a mouth on him like no other… He was the biggest distraction to my determination of getting the full-time lawyer position. But I can only ignore so much, especially when all he wanted to do was screw me. It was tempting…
* This sexy steamy bad boy romance is perfect for fans of Joanna Blake, Devon Hartford, Sabrina Paige, and Dani Wyatt *
There are a huge amount of typos, so this book defiantly needs an editor also, there is no breaks in between one day/situation ending and the other beginning, they all flow together, I also noticed a couple inconstancies, and I felt Blair was Adins doormat, who in their right mind gets spoken too by a man the way he did her, and then jumps straight into bed with said man, like oh all is fine ladeedah? No just no, the poor girl had no freaking backbone!!! But considering all those points, the story managed to keep me interested till around 90% where it became a moment of will this book ever finish? Lol... But like I said not a bad book for a buck... Happy reading
I was bored the whole duration of this book, practically skimmed 75% of it. There was no character development, build up or a plot, nothing flowed effortlessly together, instead it was a complete disappointment and a waste of my time.
I don't even know where to start. I'm flabbergasted by what I just read. Nonsense upon nonsense, upon asshole "hero" and doormat heroine. This story had no plot, it was just there and the ending, which I was hoping would redeem the story, was the worst let down. And YES, i read ALL of it, sadly.
Spelling/Grammar errors stopped this from being 5 stars.
I liked this book. Two characters reconnecting, with attraction for each other growing with each day they spend more time together.
Aiden is super cute and determined to make Blair see how good they can be together. Blair fights it because she wants to stay career-driven with no distractions.
I like the premise and really liked the characters. However, the spelling and grammar errors were crazy distracting. It's sad that something this avoidable stops a book from getting better reviews.
@ClaireAdams, I'd be happy to BETA read for you and help with that.
The premise of the plot is pretty simple: two newly graduated lawyers fight for the same position at a firm. They just so happen to know each other, having been childhood friends through high school. Over the years they lost touch but their relationship is quickly rekindled. So far so good. Our hero, Aiden, wants more than just a friendship. So he attempts to woo wishy-washy Blair and finally gets her thinking that what they have is a good thing. And it is. But then he's a complete ass the second half of the book. Honestly, I think the story would have been better had Blair told Aiden to fuck off and THAT was the ending. And the epilogue was just... ugh. Cheesy.
This story is well written. The characters go through ups and downs and you go with them. I would read this again as well as others by this author. Overview. Blaire was moving to California to work at a law firm. She is going to be competing for the job between her and 1 other person. When she shows up, the boss introduces her to Aiden. But she already knows Aiden. They grew up together in Iowa. But the two work great together, but they are also attracted to each other. But will the two find a balance between work and love or will the competing for the job send them their own ways?
Loved this story, two new young lawyers fighting for the same job, working on same case, yet only one will be chosen on performance. Problem being they have history, knew each other from high school, very close friends, really good friends. Their relationship becomes more, they fight it, what will happen can they survive, come out in one piece, emotionally, physically, and survive? Great read, now cannot wait for next bk. On another brother
This book SUCKED!! The only reason I continued to even finish this book is because I actually liked the plot of the story. The sex scenes were rushed & you never knew what was really going on. The grammar throughout the entire book was so awful I literally had to reread various sentences 5 or more times than I do regularly. I literally thought my dyslexia was the problem, but no it happen WAY too much throughout this book.
The title pretty much sums the book up. I really enjoyed the story line about Aiden and Blair. I have to say though there was quite a grammar mistakes. This story is about childhood friends reuniting after years and they end up competing for the same job. This story deals with helping a loved one through a problem and it of course is a love story to.
This book was very up and down. I liked the characters but really couldn't connect well with them. In the first half of the book, I liked Aiden and thought Blair was to indecisive. Then the last half we get into Aiden's secret and I felt Blair forgave him way to easily. It's a nice story, just needed a little more. I am curious to read about the other brothers.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I enjoy most friends-to-lovers romance story lines, but for some reason, I wasn't all that invested in this one. There's also the issue of editing, which didn't help matters any.
I'd like to read about the other brothers. Hopefully, their books would be better,
took a while to get into, but definitely picked up. Enjoyed the storyline, the characters though a little boring were well thought out. I have normally enjoyed reading books by the author, but quite truthfully I was a little disappointed with this one.
I enjoyed this book. It was like book worm reconnect with old friend. It turned out to be a very good book. Aiden and Blair feel in love and opened there own law firm. I am looking forward to next book. I recommend this book to all romance readers.
A good read but I find Blair to be really annoying at times as she just can't make her mind up. When she's good with Aiden you can't help but want to read more of them. Reads by this author I enjoy so I'll got sure reading crook.
