Six years ago, I did something I shouldn’t have done. Took something that didn’t belong to me.
But there’s always a price to pay when you break the rules. I just didn’t realize she’d be the one to pay it.
I am the son of Alpha. A hunter. I’d been sent to find Aria Hale and her family. They’d said it was to bring them home. But that was a lie.
That was the night I learned what betrayal was. When those I trusted destroyed what I’d come to love.
I never expected to see Aria again, but here she is, six years later, standing on my doorstep, looking for answers, trying to understand something that can’t be understood.
I can live with blood on my hands. I can exist without her if it means keeping her safe.
Natasha Knight is the USA Today Bestselling author of Romantic Suspense and Dark Romance Novels. She has sold over a million books and is translated into six languages. She currently lives in The Netherlands with her husband and two daughters and when she’s not writing, she’s walking in the woods listening to a book, sitting in a corner reading or off exploring the world as often as she can get away.
Another awesome book by Ms. Knight! This book is the perfect combination of a paranormal romance and BDSM erotic romance. The author really knows how to get your attention and makes the most of the steamy imagery! It is a great read with many characters that endear themselves to the reader.
The hero, Zane, is a dark, cold, aggressive and mysterious man that knows what he wants. And he’s a wolf shifter. The heroine, Aria, tells for her strength. She is strong willed and has a mind of her own. She isn’t a shifter but she can be claimed by a shifter, become his mate and produce shifters. Zane has always been attracted not only to her but also her submissive nature. His possessiveness is adorable. Reading and seeing the passion and love grow was amazing. Zane and Aria are in the middle of a conflict between two rival packs and the intrigues and controversies for succession and dominance. Zane has to fight not only to protect her but also to secure stability and peace.
The sex scenes are very h-o-t and there’s a lot of bdsm play and spanking. Super steamy read! Great story happening as well! Ms. Knight is definitely not disappointing me with this dark erotic story.

What didn't work for me: --H & h have a connection/attraction, they have a very intimate encounter when they are 16&18 but he runs, abandons her when her family is murdered, blames himself and leaves her knowing she could be in extreme danger as well. --She searches for him, for 6 years she's pining for him, remaining completely untouched while of course he doesn't and moves on...blah. --He's not happy to see her when she finally finds him, he acts like a jerk...too much pushing away from H for too long, saying cruel things, hurting h's feelings several times while she continually begs and pants after him. He wants her but isn't happy she's dragging him back into the world he had escaped from. H was too cold to h up until the very end and it was just a little too late.
"she was truly the one person who could bring me to my knees. She was the only one ever to hold that power over me."
Aria was all alone. Her family was killed when she was 18. There was only one person she was close to when her family was murdered, and he disappeared without a trace. Years later, Aria needed to find her old friend to get the answers she deserved.
Zane doesn't understand how Aria found him. He especially doesn't know how to tell her the truth since Aria wasn't raised in a werewolf community. Zane regrets the past, and he fears that Aria will hate him when she learns the truth.
The chemistry between Aria and Zane is scorching hot. Zane is all alpha. He is commanding, controlling, and strong. Natasha Knight will not fail you in that category.
In my opinion, Natasha Knight is one of the best erotica writers. I didn't know she wrote fantasy, but when I found out about Alpha, I had to read it. Thank you so much for this awesome story!

This was really a nice and intense story! The book is paranormal but it introduces us to its world in a smooth way. The writing is strong and enjoyable. The plot doesn't have any twists/surprises but it wasn't disturbing at all. The book is written from a dual POV and it's nicely done without any confusions.
The characters are really strong both of them. Zane is really an alpha male in all possible ways and I do like him. Aria is stronger than she looks and a real fighter.
The interactions were really intense.
The book ended in an expected way and it had a great epilogue!!! However I didn't give 5 stars to the book as there were missing information towards the end of the book. For example I would like to know more about the reasons why the family of Aria was murdered or about what happens with the other characters. The end the book felt rushed to me in a way. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a paranormal erotica book!
Really enjoyed this one. First time read from Author Natasha Knight, I really liked her writing style. This one was Bdsm, leaning a lot towards spanking. I admit I haven't read A LOT of bdsm books but I thought the story line was pretty well written. Sometimes you get one that is all sex no story line but not here. The characters had a fantastic attraction to each others which made the story even better!
It's a given that I will read anything from Natasha Knight as her novels are always deliciously dirty and decadent with an engaging story and romance. I thought Aria and Zane were fantastic. He was alpha to the core (pun intended) but also very protective and emotionally attached to Aria. I could not get enough of them.
After her brother and mother were tragically murdered six years ago, Aria has decided it's her mission to look for their killers and the man who disappeared from her life and abandoned her in her time of need. Why did Zane abandon Aria after an intimate night together and more importantly what secrets and truths is he hiding about what really happened that night?
I absolutely love Paranormal romance and combined with the amazingness of this author's novels.. umm YES PLEASE. This novel was so sexy and dirty with an engaging storyline that did not quit. I could not get enough of Aria and Zane's connection and the secrets he kept from her from that night. I also loved how they were both drawn to each other despite forcing himself to stay away from her for years. All in all this was fantastic and such a great story! Bravo! 4.5 stars ~Ratula
I didn't really feel like this went all the way for me, it was a bit up and down. Kind of like I kept feeling it was just out of reach to be super good. It was hawt though, and I liked the plot, but I didn't feel like the plot was well enough executed. I felt like "the bad guys" sort of came in and then died in 3 sec, and that wasn't good enough for me. I felt like I wanted to see more, and also more proper battle scenes.
So this book fell short for me. Which is a shame because I'm a big fan of many of her other books. :)
From the cover alone I knew I wanted to read this. I knew I wanted more from Zane and Aria. There was an air of mystery surrounding Alpha just from the synopsis. Aria goes looking for Zane to get more answers about that night. That horrible night that left her without her family and the one man she truly loved.
Zane, the bad. The Alpha. The man wrapped in secrets left that life behind him. He always knew that someday Aria would come looking for him, searching for the truth but sometimes it's the lies we tell ourselves that keeps us strong.
I have been an avid Knight fan since I started reviewing three years ago. In her newer novels, she has taken a darker more edgier twist. There has been suspense, love, danger, and of course a red bottom or two. I was grabbed from the start and knew I wouldn't put this down until I knew Zane and Aria's future.
I had not read a good shapeshifter book in forever! So when this one was read now on NetGalley, I one-clicked and started reading. Zane is hot, like super-duper hot! And is the son of an Alpha…which still makes him an Alpha even when he is trying to escape his family dynamic.
Aria is special. She is the daughter of an Alpha, granddaughter of an Alpha…she just doesn’t know it. The story is a journey of her self-discovery as well as her romance with Zane. One night with Zane all those years ago taught her one thing…one night would never be enough.
I liked these two together and I enjoyed the interplay between the packs. Who to trust? Who to believe? The mystery was good, but didn’t overshadow the relationship building between Zane and Aria. I really liked their steam! Enjoy!
I couldn't do it. I couldn't go on. This is just not the one for me. The repetitiveness is getting to me. How many times do they have to mention that she was sixteen and he was eighteen when the last time they saw each other? I get it! Stop telling me! Also, I guess my, what do they call it? Hard limit? My hard limit is humiliation. That's just not sexy to me. Hard and rough is fine but once he started to belt her bare arse (without consent first!! ) for not doing something he asked her to do, get turned on about it and fu*k her telling that she loved it... I was done.
Fantastic read! I loved this story, it was one of those where you are reading and when you stop to catch your breath realize a lot of time has gone by and you are nearly done the story
It had a bit of everything, lost love, death, mystery, betrayal and some super-extra-hot attraction and sex. The two characters were more than enough to push the story along, and everything else was overshadowed by their interactions!
I received an ARC for an honest review of Alpha by Natasha Knight
I enjoyed this book, it was my first time reading from author Natasha Knight. The story was good and the attraction of the characters draws you in. While the story contained BDSM, it seemed to have more spanking than anything. It was an easy read with lots of lust and excitement.
Natasha does it again! What an amazing different twist to a wonderfully written Alpha tale. I love the story of Zane and Aria. I didn't want the storyline to end. Would love to see what happens from here for these two characters. Hands down some recommended read.
3.5 stars. I liked the plot and the overall storyline but something seemed lacking for me to give it 4 stars, I don't know what that extra something would be to warrant the extra .5 but I'm going to mull it over.
I did not finish this book. Too much drama with her mom and brother being murdered. And the hero just left her so it was a second chance romance. I didn't like it.
The best PNR book I’ve read! It’s filled with everything! Zane is strong, capable and an alpha dominant through and through. But he’s filled with guilt and shame. Aria is feisty and determined. She’s looking for answers and won’t give up until she knows everything. She maybe innocent but she’s not naive and knows exactly what she wants. The characters are explosive together! Whether quarreling or making up they are all or nothing. This is a suspenseful book that I finished in one sitting. I just had to know the fate of Zane and Aria. Betrayal and the need for power is a driving force and leads to destroying many lives. Can’t be named Alpha without having some sexy sizzling hotness! The writing and storyline and plot are fantastic! I’ve read a few books by this very talented author but this is the first paranormal I’ve read by her and I think she did an outstanding job of it!
This is the second Paranormal book I have read by Natasha Knight. It is written in a double POV which I really like. I love reading what both characters think of the situation.
Aria was strong and feisty and not afraid to fight for what she believed in and who she loved. What I loved about Zane is that he wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes and he owned up to them.
There is also a lot of action, scenes that made me laugh and some panty melting hot scenes.
I love it that you can always count on Natasha night to give you a fulfilling and totally not wholesome romance. her no holds barred approach to sex and romance should be a guiding light to every other author.
So…this one is a cookie-cutter story with nothing new. Shape shifters and some spicy sexy times with rival pack feuding. Predictable and nothing to write home about. Two stars is generous only because I actually read it all the way through.
I enjoyed this book and it was a good stand-alone to introduce me to this author who I will definitely read again in the future. I love a bit of PNR so this was right up my alley although the PNR element wasn't the main focus of the story there was enough to hold my attention. I also really liked the way the story unfolded and the authors style of writing.

For whatever reason I forgot or was unaware that this was a werewolf book, and I have to say that it was a pleasant surprise. That being said, while i really liked both Aria and Zane as leads, I thought the story was just not that memorable. I also think the author could've done more to introduce the reader to the world at hand, since every werewolf story has its own rules and regulations, and while we did get to understand some the majority of the rules of this world were left out, things like the rapid healing, and mating bonds were alluded to, but never explicitly said.
Also I know that there are erotica books, that focus mostly on sex, and romance that focus more on story lines, but this one was not sure where it fell. The beginning was all about story, and then it switched to sex, and this was a bit unbelievable.
Having said all of this, I did like the story, and I loved Zane he was a tortured soul which is my absolute weakness, and so I must say that overall, I would read another book from this author.
Alpha has so many 5 star ratings... I don't get it. Obviously, since I dnf-ed at 48%.
As you can see in the description this novel shows you both POVs. Well, if you like that sort of thing, it's great. It didn't really work for me here and I'm not sure if the two different POVs are really necessary in this case. I liked Aria's character well enough, but Zane's? Not at all. I was rather irritated by him. Just decide if you want it or not, sheesh!
I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters, so the sex scenes weren't interesting for me. And to be honest... I couldn't take them seriously. There were a few descriptions... just no.
[...] her warm virgin blood[...] kindle pos.1130
And this virgin fetish got on my nerves. I do think this may be problematic, too. Think untouched woman equals worthy woman and as soon as she's been 'spoiled' by the hand of a man... but a lengthy discussion doesn't belong in a review.
But the thing, that bothered me the most, were the repetitions. You don't have to tell me every few pages, that Aria was 16 and Zane was 18 when they fooled around. You don't have to remind me every few pages, that it's been 6 years now since that night. Yes, I get it Zane, you get off on knowing that Aria was a virgin and you were the first man in every part of her body.
Disclaimer: I was provided through NetGalley with a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.
I found this book underwhelming. The writing is strong, and perhaps if I had read it 2 or 3 years ago I would have found it more enticing. For these reasons I'm sticking to a 3 rather than 2 rating, but I'm on the fence about it.
The story wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly unique either. My main problem is with our hero, a so-called alpha. To be brutally honest, if this guy were in charge on any group I belonged to I'd be looking for another group right quick! Zane is not strong in character, and being dominant in the bedroom doesn't make him an alpha. He spends a great deal of the story whinging and whining about not being able to tell Aria the truth about what happened 6 years ago, how he shouldn't have done whatever it was he did with her (although she remained a virgin, so I don't really understand that bit), and how stupid he was for not seeing things sooner.... and on and on.
Aria is the strong character, she is the one who doggedly seeks answers about what happened to her family. To be fair Zane does grow a bit by the end, but I never found him all that appealing as a hero worthy of Aria's devotion.
