This is for the whole series I liked Ilan but it just was hard to for me to keep interest in this series. Overall everything just felt too rushed I did not like who Ilan ended up with Terrac. I liked her with Fleet better. To each their own. Again Terrac and Ilan are just kind of thrown together randomly until the end of the story. It just makes no sense to me. However with Fleet that story would be far more interesting and fits more of her personality and her interests. Along with they both have more similar stories and their interactions actually fit unlike with Terrac. Again my preference. If you like this story awesome. Still for me I will not reread this series I am glad that I just borrowed this series.
I decided to read all six books before giving a proper review. I enjoyed them immensely; they were a fun and easy read. Unlike many reviewers, I didn't have a problem that they came in small bite-sizes, mostly because they came out one after the other so it made no difference with the flow of the reading. I did, though, have a problem with the ending which seemed to be in a bit of a rush to get there. The bit about the attempted murder on Ilan was there in order to put another plot into the mix, but nothing more. It didn't add to the book and, in my opinion, was unnecessary. And the way that it resolved itself was something of an anticlimax. The two characters who were responsible, we do not even meet until the sixth book, and even then only for a few pages. Both were too cardboard for me to understand what they were doing in the mix. Other than these small points, the books are for reading when one wants to spend a quiet evening at home with a glass of wine (or coco in my case).
My traditional style of reviewing isn't going to work for this book. What a fantastic ending to The Legend of Dimmingwood Series. I've loved Ilan's character since her introduction in Magic of Thieves. She's my type of character strong female that isn't afraid of her male counter parts. Ilan's journey hasn't been an easy one though at times it seemed like it at some points in the series. I'm so happy with the ending of this series I can't find enough words to express this happiness. I look forward to more of this author's work in the future.
Currently available on Kindle Unlimited, this sixth and final episode of Ilan’s adventures returns to familiar territory, Dimingwood itself and the Praetor’s city, to hastily tie up as many loose ends as possible and bring the journey to an end.
It’s a well written tale with plenty of action set out in a gentle way, but not much of importance happens over a lengthy build up. Ilan remains a rather passive heroine. Events happen to her rather than because of her for the first three quarters of the book, and she ends up unconscious far too often for a first person narrator.
But then we get a few decent if convenient conclusions: the Praetor turns out to be a nice guy, everyone is pardoned, the enemy walks away having been given that bow Ilan implausibly picked up in book one, and Ilan gets the boy whilst he gets the top job. All nice and convenient with a little bit of jeopardy in the last battle.
It’s not the mighty climax one might have hoped for, as much remains unexplained about Ilan’s past and abilities, but for very scant summations. Maybe this is to leave room for sequels.
The fourth book was the best of the series. The sixth book was a good read overall, but not one I’d return to. Same for the series frankly.

This is where we end our journey with Ilan of Dimmingwood. It has been a wild ride and I am going to miss her and her friends. I really enjoy C Greenwood's writing and I have read everything she has written. I have been lucky enough to be included in her ARC group for many of her books. I was in love with these characters from the beginning, and though it hasn't all been peaches and cream I have enjoyed following along on these adventures with them. I liked the way the author has concluded this series.
Fun and fast- paced story with a climactic battle. Ilan seems to finally come to an understanding of sorts with the Praetor, her uncle as well. There could have been greater elaboration on some elements of the series, but the books are short and easy reads so I found it an enjoyable conclusion to Ilan's story. I plan on reading other works by this author in the future, but for now I would say to any who are interested in a foray into fantasy without an epic length, the Dimmingwood series is a good way to go.
The final book of the series. I enjoy this series and have been listening to it for years. The final fight with the Celtic tribe. I thought it was interesting that peace came ONLY after the older generation died off.
It was a good ending. No more cliffhangers, a happily ever after and finally the ending to this series. I know I will listen to it again in the future. It's been a great series for me to own on Audio.
What an ending for the series. The writing and characters in this series made it for a great and enjoyable read. I highly recommend you read this and also the 3 book series that tells the story of Red Hand. These 2 series go hand in hand. I really enjoyed myself reading both of these and I believe you will also. If you don't your loss. Great Reading Everyone!!!!
It is a rare treat that a series ends with me happy and accepting of the author's conclusions. C. Greenwood is to be commended not only for that but for a masterful ability to create a journey the reader is anxious to join. I truly enjoyed the entire trip.
A great war, love find, the death of the old Praetor, an assassination attempt, and all after Ilan return. An she win her love or will all be lost? Great story, even better fight scenes.
This was a good little series. Book 5 was my favorite. I did like the ending but would have liked to see more of Greenwood's amazing characters in the grand finale. All in all, it kept me reading late into the night and that says it's a good book.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading these books. "Legends of Dimmingwood" is a great 6 book adventure that I hope anyone that reads fantasy books takes time out to read this story. Ilan is the main character but after you start reading, after the introduction, you'll see how many different characters she comes to know. Some are good and some are bad as usual, but the author creates such a wonderful background and sense of love for his characters, that I feel you'll enjoy this story as much as I did. Enjoy!.
A fabulous conclusion to an excellent fantasy series, where Ilan battles old and new enemies and is forced to make difficult choices.
It's not easy to say much without spoilers, but will say that this story is steeped in adventure, enchantment, love, loss, betrayal and loyalty; it also is filled with suspense, surprises and legend.
Fantastic, exciting end to the series. Great plot twists. Hated to see Ilan's story end; however, loved the way it ended. You can't miss this series or its fantastic ending. Perfect for all teens and adults.
I enjoyed this book in t Dimmingwood series very much. Well written and with lots of adventure. Looking forward to more entertainment from this author.
Wow!!! This last book was my absolute favorite out of the whole series. The story wrapped itself up so well in that last chapter and it is a bit of a shame to see the series finished.
Overall, I think this was an okay series. There was a lot of strong bonds between friendship, love, family and allies. There was a few unexpected events but that did keep the book interesting.
