When freelance computer tech Jake Landon comes to Sabrina Monroe’s rescue her first day on the job, the two develop a sudden attraction that neither can ignore. While Jake sets out to win her over, Sabrina is having a hard time forgetting the humiliating outcome of her last office “romance” and wants nothing more than to focus on her budding, new career—not the attractive “IT guy.” Or so she keeps telling herself.
Yet, as the seductive pull of Jake’s charm draws her unwittingly closer, causing tension and frustration to flare brightly between them, Sabrina is determined not to break her firm never again date someone she works with. Ever. But the “rules of attraction” cannot be ignored, and Sabrina must decide if she is willing to release her inhibitions and give love a chance.
*This story is a prequel to the novella Because You Love Me. Originally published October 2014 in the Love in Black & White anthology.
Lena Hart is an author of sensual romances with alpha heroes and smart, sexy heroines. She's a proud member of Romance Writers of America, busy writing more happily ever afters. A Florida-native, Lena currently lives in New York City with her two calico kitties, Duchess and Daisy. When she is not writing, she's reading, researching, or conferring with her muse.
It was a good read. Really shows you the beginning of their relationship and how every thing started. It also divulges a little about the background of the characters as well.
FIRST LOVE: JAKE & SABRINA is the prequel novella for Because You Love Me which tells the rest of Jake & Sabrina's story. Lena Hart does a fantastic job of drawing the reader into the attraction and desire that drives these two. Jake almost immediately fell hard for the lovely Sabrina and can't stay away from her... even if it means they can only be friends. Despite Sabrina's bad experience that left her with a firm rule against another office romance, she finds that Jake has gotten past her walls. She finally admits she has fallen for him too. Sweet story that only makes me want more! 4 stars
Novella Prequel to Romantic Series This starts as a pretty good story. As the relationship between our two main characters develops, it loses depth. There is an interesting side story about the best friend that is hinted at, but not developed. This ends in this very steamy bedroom scene that takes up the last 10% of this novella. It was way too much for me. If the author had taken time to write a longer story and flesh out the characters more, it would have helped. Instead, I felt the author just wrote a ramp up to the sex scene and didn’t care to write a good story. I will not be reading any more of this author’s work.
Sabrina is sweet, smart, funny and still a virgin. When she starts her internship at a well known firm, she's surprised after four months of working that she would be terminated for a rumor of sleeping her way to the top. Hired at a new job, her goal now is to not get close to any male she works with and never to date them. Her rules are tested when an attractive IT guy named Jake begins persuades her to meet him daily in the office cafeteria. See if Jake remains in the friends only zone.
I got this book as an ARC for my honest opinion and review. It is a short and sweet novella of office romance. Sabrina just want to focus on her new career and not the sweet and cute IT guy that came to her rescue on her first day. Jake on the other has is not giving in that easy. Will he get her to give in even with her past of office romance that is clouding her judgment? You will have to pick up this short read to find out.
Not a bad short read. This is the first of Hart's books that I've read. The writing flowed smoothly and you get a good background into the characters despite the shortness of the book.
I enjoyed Jake and Sabrina's beginning. What would make Dale think that she would want him. Arrogance is not a strong characteristic in any man. That's just an opinion.
Sabrina Monroe was trying so hard to get over the fact that she had been used and embarrassed when she was working on her internship that is all she wanted to get through but there happen to be a execute who wanted to take her to dinner she knew that she should not have let personal come before professional because the man told ever one that he had been with her intimately and he was engaged and the Top Brass wanted to get rid of her because the rumors were wild so they fired her and she left without a fight six months later she now has a job at a new company she was not going to make the same mistake again so when she first arrived and her computer wasn't working and she was trying to get her job completed as requested by her supervisor she turned and saw a handsome man standing there watching her when she almost dropped the monitor she was holding she ask for help he said that his name was Jake Landon and he wanted to have this woman for himself but she let him and anybody who wanted to date her that she didn't date co workers but Jake wouldn' t or couldn't except that and got mad at her when he saw her talking to a co worker and insulted her for her values and she wouldn't talk to him about it at all Jake realized that he didn't have the right to be upset because she had made a decision about her life. A lovely story about first love, trust and desire. I purchased this book and found it to be very entertaining. I am providing an honest review.
This is the prequel to Because You Love Me showing the beginning of Jake and Sabrina's story...it's a good short read that help you understand more about these characters.
I received an ARC for an honest review of this book.
Great beginning to a Beautiful love story. I liked that although Jake thought Sabrina was above his level, it didn't stop him from pursuing her. Sabrina, although guarded, was willing to get to know Jake as a friend. Until love came along and stirred them both up. Both characters had them rooting for them until the end. Can't wait to read their complete story.
Great IR story. Jake is very determined to win Sabrina over even though she is a bit skittish. They have a few roadblocks to work through but their story has a good ending. I forgot that this was a prequel until I started reading the bonus content, this prequel is so well-written that I am sure that this only gets better just with a few more road blocks. I enjoyed reading this story.
I truly enjoyed Sabrina and Jake's story. It was a very pleasant read for me. I especially like the chemistry between them from beginning to end and I'm really looking forward to further delving into their story.
Excellent Read that kept me entertained from start to end. Jake and Sabrina's start has me interested to know what next for them. This book made me want to read more from this author. Gladly recommend to BWWM or IR romance readers.
While this is the prequel to Because You Love Me it seems was written and released after that book. While it is technically an independent read, it reads as an incomplete story. I'm guessing that reading Because You Love Me will make this story make more sense.
This was a good book for the first book in this series. Jake and Sabrina had a strange was to start a romance. Jake had anger issues and Sabrina had trust issues.
Sabrina finds a new job and with that a new love interest but can she have both ? I love how the author shows that sometimes it's not that easy to date the people one works with.
short but touching story of a relationship that builds from friends to lovers the plot moves slowly stressing physical more than emotional issues Enjoy
