Bell & Whitehouse #1

One Spoonful of Trouble

Rate this book
When Felicity Bell expresses the wish there were more to life than working in the family bakery, she didn’t know her wish would come true so soon. Suddenly the small town of Happy Bays is confronted with a crime wave the likes of which she’s never seen. The main culprit seems to be big shot reporter Rick Dawson, and soon the two are at daggers drawn.

Rick actually came down to Happy Bays to work on a tell-all article exposing villainous billionaire Chazz Falcone. Rick just lost his job because of the exposé, and he’s determined to nail the real estate tycoon to the wall. He soon discovers that trouble has followed him from New York City. Though she pretends to be a baker, he has a sneaking suspicion Felicity Bell is really working for Falcone, trying to get her hands on his article.

Before long, Felicity and Rick find themselves in a reluctant partnership fighting the crime wave that has hit Happy Bays, and the shady billionaire who seems to be behind all the trouble.

When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.

He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.

Going to try one more...

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This was hysterical ,yet very moving characters. Lots of personal philosophy, but good over rides bad behavior.

One Spoonful of Trouble

Thi is quite the comedy. Not what expected at all but very funny. Don’t think I ever read such a silly book as this.

This was an interesting book. Not so much a murder mystery, but rather a mystery as to who exactly was the bad guy, and who was really innocent. Also, pretty much more of a romance than a mystery, but still really good. Kind of a rom-com kind of a book. Felicity Bell is the daughter of the town's best baker, and a food columnist for the local paper. Trouble starts when she foils a robbery attempt at the local grocery store (deli). She gets the upper hand from the crook, takes his gun and threatens him with it... then along comes a down and out reporter for a big NYC paper who sees her brandishing the gun, and figures she's the criminal, so he tries to take her out with a can of baked beans. The mess gets more convoluted before it gets straightened out, and by that time, big city goons are after the reporter, impersonating NYPD officers to Felicity to get her to tell them where the reporter is... see where this is going? It's one screwed up antic after another, and will have you rolling on the floor with laughter or at least rolling your eyes. Read it. There's not much else to say without giving up the entire plot...

so what do you do when you are a reporter and you lose your job . and decide to go to a place where you meet a woman who keeps throwing stuff at you only to get hurt in the physical sense .
and what of your best friend who you grew up with is marrying your step sister .
and what if your a reporter who is writing a story about Chazz Falcone . though there is a plot twist who is the reporter to Chazz . and wil Chazz try to get with Felicity or will the reporter .
and what do you do when your father tells you you either work or lose your inheritance .
so this book to me is funny there is nothing um x rated about it the most you may see is some knock outs as in over the head . some hijinx and some funny scenes that you will laugh your butt off . well not have your butt leave your body but you know what i mean . you will laugh out loud . so if you read it i would refrain from eating or drinking may cause harm due to laughing so much .
though the Doctor will tell you laughing is the best medicine ,. lol

I really enjoyed this book. It's about the daily lives of Felicity and her cousin/roommate Alice. Fee works as a baker in her family's bakery and Alice works at her dad funeral home. Life is normal and boring for both girls, until Fee stops in the local store, and ends being in the wrong place at the wrong time..and ends up in the middle of a robbery and a can fight with the robber and a customer. The customer thinks she is a robber and he thinks she is one..fun story with good characters..the kind that you might even want to be friends with. I love how at the end of some chapters, the author leaves you hanging with a surprise and anxiously turning the page for the next chapter's beginning..Def recommend this book...cant wait to read the rest of this series..come join the adventure with me..

A cute mystery with a funny twist in end. Felicity always wanted to be a journalist for a paper. The closest she ever got is posting recipes and YouTube videos on how to cook. Her chance comes by from a man on the run.
Rick is on the run from a big pin criminal because he wants to publish a article on his shady deals and how corrupt his is. Getting fired by his publisher doesn't help. So leaving town and going over a couple to get away and hopefully find a place that would hire him. Everything seems to be going fine the first day in Happy Bay until he runs into a little spitfire named Felicity. Can she help him get the job done. And will Rick be able to help her?

Quirky, lively and hugely romantic, this is a bit of a new genre from Nic Saint that will keep you chuckling throughout its' entirety. This book could easily be considered a romantic comedy with a bit of a thriller to it. Even though this book could be considered appropriate for a teenaged young woman, it is a light, clean romance with a twist. I enjoyed it greatly, as it is well written with a plot that was easy to follow and "get into". If you need a change from the "norm" that is out there right now to read, this is a book you should consider.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Received as an ARC for honest review.

Felicity Bell wants out of the Bakery to become a journalist. But she doesn't move forward with her desires of becoming a journalist. She meets Rick Dawson who is an ex-reporter for the New York Chronicles. She mistakes him for a thief, beats him a couple of times, asks him to teach her to write as a reporter (but doesn't go far on that aspect), falls in love with him. And above all she gets the father & son to make a truce. It has it's humorous side & serious sides.

Funny

I so enjoyed this book. I read it in just a couple evenings. It's funny, I like the characters and the fact that the writers are husband and wife! Felicity and Alice are roommates and friends who are different in so many ways. Felicity is a baker and chef, Alice has a few different jobs, one being working in her Uncles funeral home. They are both likable, smart and would be fun to be friends with. I can't wait until book 2!!!!

Lots of Fun

The improbable twists and turns, the zany misunderstandings, had me frequently laughing out loud. If you're looking g for serious mystery or suspense this isn't it, but if you're looking for a fun read where you'll be kept guessing (and laughing) by the next swing to the story, you have to read this.

This is the first book in a new series that features wannabe journalist who is actually a baker. Felicity wants a more exciting life and so her wishes come true but her comes a real journalist who wants answers about the billionaire who lives in this small sleepy town. This is a romantic comedy that will leave you in stitches.

I read this because it was compared to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. It is a far cry from Janet but it was a quick read that set the stage for the next book. I had a hard time hearing the characters voices but since I have the sequels to this book I thought I better finish. I am hoping the writing and character development get better.

What a great story! This book had me going crazy trying to keep up with the story line. The twists to the story were very good. I really enjoyed getting surprised at the end. I was not expecting it. But it was a book that I would recommend to my friends.

This book is sweet, funny with a bit of mystery. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters as well as the story itself. For my personal taste it was just ok. I prefer a bit more suspense, drama and steam. If you are looking for a light fun, romantic read, this will not disappoint.

Not a very exciting book. Review compared to Stephanie Plum, not even on the spectrum. And the ending was just absurd. Good things were, light easy read. Book went very quickly with short chapters. It's the only reason I finished it and gave the 2 stars instead of 1.

Cute book which I got as a boxed set of three for free. This is first in the series. And I feel that characters were well defined and grew throughout the book. Some twists and turns I didn't expect but a great ending. Looking forward to next book in the series.

got it as a three book set for Kindle because it likens itself to Stephanie Plum. It was pretty good. Light funny fast read, good for baseball practice sitting in the car! Nothing deep, just funny romantic. Wish the mystery element was a little stronger.

Fun book

I really enjoyed this book. I like books with short chapters, so I get other things done and still read and not get lost. I will probably read the next book in this series.

Not what I was expecting

I guess it's true, no matter what the author tells you, you should start with the first book. I started with book 6 A Clash of Ghosts, which I thought was hilarious, but now as I back track this book makes no sense. Sure, you find out how Rick and Felicity meet but it's way off in left field somewhere. I need to rethink if I want to read the rest of this series or not. 4 stars for confusing the heck out of me.
