A compelling crime thriller that concludes the three books. The action switches from London to Kazakhstan as Michael Fletcher desperately tries to get his life back after a major catastrophe. Detective Inspector Karen Foster still can’t sort out her private life as she continues a relationship with a French liaison officer from the Police Nationale. There is mayhem and murder committed by two young thugs in the local areas of Epsom and Leatherhead. Foster and her sidekick Mick Hill, are chasing shadows as the thugs are not only ruthless, but extremely clever. An adult story full of suspense, spectacular action, violence, passion, intrigue and tears. Join the mailing list www.authorchrisward.com
Fifty something years of age living in Epsom near the famous racecourse. Have loads of kids and very happily married to my wife Helen. Started writing in October 2013 and published the first book in a trilogy "Bermondsey Trifle" a Gangster Thriller in June 2014. "Bermondsey Prosecco" followed in August 2015 and "Bermondsey The Final Act" in December 2015 which concluded the three book series. The latest book is "Serial Killer" published in March 2015.
Number 3 has DI Foster trying to capture violent thugs creating horrible havoc. A banker is suddenly downsized and his new circumstances cause him to become rash. This one is my least favorite of the series. Foster is continually self destructive and unprofessional. And the businessman is a horrid selfish jerk with little or no redeeming qualities. I have zero sympathy for him. Part of the book is set in Kazakhstan and the author's descriptions of what goes on there are sexist, disgusting and demeaning.
Have read and enjoyed all of this author's previous books but have to say I think this is the best of them. The plot is excellent and I enjoyed the two different strands to the story, which overlap because of Karen and her always active libido. Michael is very realistic and his journey through good and bad times is well described. Not everyone will have sympathy for his plight given he is a banker! His gullibility and chasing women whenever possible are not endearing qualities and I'm not sure I like him as a person but I enjoyed him immensely as a character in the book. As usual with this author there is loads of action and violence along with a good smattering of sex but he has definitely taken his writing up a notch and I couldn't put the book down.
