52 books91 followersAhmad Faraz was an Urdu language Pakistani poet from Pakistan. He is considered one of the greatest modern Urdu poets of the last century. Faraz is his pseudonym or 'takhalus'. His real name was Syed Ahmad Shah.
Faraz is critically acclaimed for simplicity to his style of writing and he is often compared to Faiz Ahmed Faiz - one of the greatest poets of Pakistan. Outspoken about politics, he went into self-imposed exile during the General Zia-ul-Haq era after he was arrested for reciting certain poems at a Mushaira criticizing the military rule. He stayed for 6 years in Britain, Canada and Europe before returning to Pakistan, where he was initially appointed Chairman of Pakistan Academy of Letters and later chairperson of National Book Foundation for several years.
He was awarded the highest literary award of Pakistan Kamal-e-Fun Award in 2000 and Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2004, in recognition of his services to literature. He returned the latter in 2006 after becoming disenchanted with the Pakistani government and its policies.

शब्दों की इतनी कमी शायद ही पहले कभी महसूस की हो। मै इस किताब को पढ़ने से पहले एक अलग इंसान था और इसके बाद कुछ अलग 🤧 ( damn हिंदी भाषा कितनी इंटेंस है)
फ़राज़ साहब की शायरी में सबसे खूबसूरत बात है उनका नाजुक लहजा।
जैसे ये कुछ शेर:
"उसकी वो जाने उसे पास ए वफ़ा था कि न था
तुम फ़राज़ अपनी तरफ से तो निभाते जाते"
"आंखें हैं कि खाली नहीं रहती है लहू से
और ज़ख्म ए जुदाई है के भर भी नहीं जाता
पागल हुए जाते हो फ़राज़ उससे मिले क्या
इतनी सी खुशी से कोई मर भी नहीं जाता"
Quote करने की जहां तक बात है तो लगभग हर ग़ज़ल यहां लिखी जा सकती है ये कहते हुए कि "इसने मेरा दिल छू लिया" जितनी तारीफ हो कम ही होगी।
