Ritter University Novel - Book Two

Egged house, keyed cars, and lawsuits all behind her, Karina Wolfe needs to bury her past deep beneath the skeletons in her closet. No one can ever find out what she did. No one.

Her freshman year at Ritter University is the perfect opportunity to re-invent a better, shinier, more responsible Karina. Her goal? Keep her head down and stay away from the thing that screwed up her life in the first place—guys. It shouldn’t be that hard, in theory. If only Ryan Kent wasn't so darn gorgeous.

Ryan Kent is the poster child for responsibility. He’s always done what’s expected of him. He didn’t have much choice. But now that his mother's cancer is under control, he finally feels free. Almost. If he could only convince his dad to trust him to make his own choices, life would be good. If he could get Karina to take a chance on him, life would be perfect.

Ryan doesn't know what Karina did before they met. Karina doesn't know how to protect Ryan. When taking chances collide with trust, can what happens in college endure, or will it stay in college?

Wonderful story. Heartache, misunderstandings, jealousy, and more. A great read.

Enjoyed the story from the beginning. Beginning a Southern Girl, I would not have let certain people off so easy (but that's what makes stories unique.) And being on the outside looking in, you can easily say "I would have..." loved the story . Highly recommend. It depects today's way of thinking and attitudes well.

Overall I absolutely loved Ryan. Yes there were times I wanted to smack him upside the head for talking before thinking but what one of us hasn’t done that. Karina was all over the map. She was letting her past dictate her actions. She was jittery, confused, angry, lost, alone, and thought she knew how people were. She in reality didn’t know much.

ryan was a great guy. He tried to live up to all the expectations of everyone and this put a crushing weight on him. Karina for some reason became a fun challenge for him. She gave to him just as much as he dished out at her. The two of them were bumbling buffoons when it came to their feelings for each other. He knew he liked her and over time realized he loved her but didn’t act on it. He feared she wouldn’t want him or that he could lose her friendship. He helped her in german and got to know her as a person without her past. He saw her for Karina and not a mistake that she let define her. He watched as she dated the douchebag Kyle and got hurt. As she struggled with her feelings of insecurity and was there for her the whole time.

Karina didn’t know how she felt about ryan. she wanted to not like him and she continued to in her mind find fault with him while struggling with her emotions. than she was afraid he didn’t like her. Once that was over with and they finally were together things seemed to be good. She was gaining respect for herself, was seeing she had true friends and a guy that cared for her. They had a obstacle in a girl but didn’t know just how much of one. What happens to these two is sad. Karina becomes self conscious again and pushes him yet again away. That seemed to be a theme. When she felt he couldn’ t possibly care or won’t think of her the same she walks away. He patiently waits for her to come back or her friends help her see him and talk to him. this time though she really walks away. When he finally gets her to realize that her past doesn’t matter that he loves her for her he does a bumbling idiot moment. this one is more defining for Karina because she is crushed but also because it gives her the courage to finally stand up for herself and tell people how she feels. Ryan doesn’t know what to do for she truly walks away from him. It is her friends that help and those are true friends through and through. They help get Karina to see that Ryan is there for her but also get her to confront him.

For Ryan his idiot moment wasn’ t because he was ashamed but because he wanted his mom to see her how he did and not tainted by her past. His dad does play a role in ryan finally standing up for himself and seeing his love for her. He confronts him and is finally set free. The actions of getting Karina to see him and his love were ones that truly shows his love.

this is a fun sweet story of two people who find strength and courage from the love they have for each other. For Ryan he finds his voice and becomes free of the shackles of expectations he feels. He is a genuinely good guy just bogged down with his father’s way of showing love. Hopefully his dad will come around. His mom is amazing though and she helps Ryan see who he is and that she loves him and will accept whoever he loves if she makes him happy. For Karina her journey is harder, she needs to let down her walls and let people in again. She learns to trust and see that not everyone will judge her or walk away. She needs to see that sometimes people do stupid things but still love you and deserve a chance. She learns that she is worth the fight and worth knowing and that her past isn’t who she is. ryan and her friends help her with this but it is ryans love and patience that really helps her heal. These two are a great story with some great banter, fun moments, romantic moments that will make you smile and a story that has you cheer for them to succeed and be together. Definitely worth the read because it has you laugh, smile and just enjoying this sweet love story.

Karina Wolfe meets Ryan Kent at college party. She is a freshman and he is a junior. He is instantly attracted to her, she just wants to be friends. She has been into guys just like him before, and it never ends well.

They start out as people who just cannot get along. Ryan does not accept this and begs her to be a friend. She friend zones him and starts dating someone else. What she is most afraid is that anyone at school will find out about her past secrets, and that means not getting too close to him.

Ryan feels so childish begging for every scrap of attention, until they realize they have a class together and Karina needs a tutor. Then the spend more time together and the friendship grows. They get together with friends and gain a group that hangs out regularly.

Karina and Ryan really want to be together, despite all that is going on. They are still attracted, but cover it well with friendship and hanging out. When it all falls apart, will he be the one that can rescue her? Or will it implode and leave Karina alone?

I found this story extremely compelling. The characters gain so much when the friendship builds and becomes more. The banter is so clever and real. This was book 2 in the Ritter Univeristy series.

Wow, this book took me back to college. I think that, more than anything, is what I enjoyed about this quirky, endearing romance. Unlike some NA novels, this went beyond the main romance plot and really captured the college experience. In every scene, I relived my own college days, from the dorm rooms to the cafeteria to the house parties.

I like that Ryan isn't the stereotypical young hero. He's not brooding or edgy. He's kind of sweet: a genuinely nice guy with a few issues of his own. He's a good match for Karina who is trying to get past a rather infamous history. Beyond these two, though, we are introduced to a slew of other great characters, that round out the story and create the world of Ritter University. I can't wait to read the other characters' stories as they develop.

This is a New Adult novel I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a sweet story with a lot of snark. There are some laugh-out-loud moments (I nearly snorted my soda through my nose on page 2!) that make the whole thing even more enjoyable.

I have read college books before so I wasn’t really expecting to read much of a different story here. Good thing I did read it! This book was so good that I caught myself laughing out loud. Which I am not allowed to do while ‘watching tv with the hubby’ because then it seems like I’m not paying attention to what we’re doing. But I can multi-task so it’s all good! The romance is great and I adore Ryan, he’s so sweet!

This whole book was wonderful and I really look forward to reading more from Vanessa in the future!

Guest review by Tammy Cole

I was excited to read this book as I have a small obsession with college romance books.

Ryan is a junior in college who meets freshman Karina and he really falls for her. Karina, who has an incident in her past that she is ashamed of, puts Ryan immediately in the friend zone. When Ryan and Karina have a class together that she needs help in, Ryan starts to tutor her. After spending time together Karina is having a hard time sticking to her plan.

This book read a little slow for me and I had a hard time keeping to the story, but I did finish it. I really did like Ryan, as he was sweet and charming.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't go to college, but reading this book gave me the insight to what I had missed out on. This was a great read, it has many laugh out loud moments and it is really an endearing romance. Ryan was awesome, he was sweet, really nice and has some little issues. Karina has some issues to deal with but he makes her feel like she can move on from them. This whole book was amazing and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Vanessa Knight takes NA in a whole new direction. Unlike so much NA, her characters are fully developed and complex. The whole series is worth the time. Loved it.
