The last person Maddy Kelly expects to show up at her mountain cabin for the holidays is her soon-to-be ex-husband, who was always too busy to enjoy their hideaway. Following doctor’s orders to reduce stress, Michael arrives at their remote cabin, unannounced and unexpected, in the dead of night, during a snow storm. Which is why Maddy greets him with a fire poker to the head, rendering him unconscious, and with a case of temporary amnesia. As his memory returns, Michael realizes how much he loves his wife, and is willing to do anything to get her back, even if it means pretending to still have amnesia.
Add to the mix Michael’s mischievous 13-year-old nephew, who has stowed away in Michael’s car, and Maddy’s two dachshunds who take an instant disliking to Michael, and you have a laugh-out-loud recipe for a romantic romp.
Charlotte Hughes published her first category romance in 1987, a Bantam Books’ Loveswept, titled Too Many Husbands, which immediately shot to #1 on the Waldenbooks Bestseller list. She went on to write almost thirty books before the line closed in 1998.
Although Charlotte is widely known for her laugh-out-loud romantic comedies, she went on to pen three Maggie-Award winning thrillers for Avon Books in the late nineties, before resuming her first love, funny stories about people falling in love. She thrilled readers with her hilarious books, A New Attitude and Hot Shot, the latter of which won the Waldenbooks Greatest Sales Growth Achievement in 2003.
Her books received so many accolades that she was invited to co-author the very popular Full House series with mega-star author Janet Evanovich.
With that series behind her, Charlotte began her own, starring psychologist Kate Holly; What Looks Like Crazy, Nutcase, and High Anxiety, creating a list of somewhat kooky but always loveable and funny ensemble characters.
Charlotte is currently launching Tall, Dark and Bad, starring Summer Pettigrew and bad boy Cooper Garrett. She is writing a series set in the Lowcountry that is a WIP.
This was completely mindless entertainment. Honestly? I don't even care! It was lighthearted, cute, and humorous. It's exactly what I needed:) I actually really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, their camaraderie, the plot, and the cute little dachshunds (since I have one of my own).

Way back when, Charlotte Hughes co-authored a series of screwball romances with Janet Evanovich that I just loved. When I saw Just Married was available from NetGalley, I grabbed it. Just Married is a reissue of an older Loveswept title and while some older romances leave a lot to be desired, Just Married doesn't. It is a funny, sweet second chance romance.
Maddy and Michael are about to get a divorce. Michael was a workaholic and badly neglected Maddy and she finally left him. That finally woke him up, but she basically went into hiding to avoid him. They both end up at their mountain cabin during a snow bound Thanksgiving, along with Michael's nephew, Danny, acting as chaperone and referee. Will Michael be able to win Maddy back before the get themselves dug out?
This is a delightful little read. It's about a couple, Michael the workaholic husband who is trying to make it big in one of the most successful law firms in the area. While his wife, Maddy who has tried everything thing she can to get his attention back. She fails to do so and after a heart-wrenching experience she files for divorce.
Due to someone working behind the scenes, they end up stranded together in a blizzard over their Thanksgiving holiday together. Maddie arrives first and when Michael arrives she's terrified because she's not expecting anyone and bangs him over the head and knocks him out. When he comes too, he finds that he is suffering from temporary amnesia. He leads Maddie to believe that he has it much longer than he does, and with the help of his little stowaway nephew, he tries to win Maddie back.
This is a cute, romantic comedy that Charlotte Hughes is known for. The characters are very likable down to the loveable, but contrary dachshunds.
I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book for honest review.
I'm big on second chance love stores so I went into this one with high hopes.
The first part of the story was a real turn off as the heroine came off as a ditz. In the first part of the book, someone comes to the door who has a key to their cabin and she doesn't think twice before she hits them over the head with a fireplace poker? And this is because she's all alone and afraid. However, there's being a little freaked out and then there's being over the top. If they had come through a window, maybe it would have been a more believable response. This scene might have been humorous for some, but for me, this put the heroine in a bad light.
I'm glad to say the book got better and I got over my poor first impression. So now you have two people who are divorcing and a stow away trapped in a cabin by a winter storm. The stow-a-way was Michael's nephew and was a great addition to the story. In my eyes this really saved the story from being like so many other "trapped together in a cabin during a winter storm" books.
Being trapped in the cabin with Maddy allowed Micheal an opportunity to win Maddy back. The nephew was a great vehicle to look at their problems from a perspective other than their own. I really liked how the nephew grew and matured.
The majority of the story takes place in the cabin and so it's hard to keep the story going without a yawn here or there and there were points that felt a little flat. It takes solid writing to take one location and three characters and create an entire story and Ms. Hughes does do that.

What a little powerhouse of a story. This book was a breath of fresh air for me as two about to be divorcees happen upon one another along with a thirteen year old teenager in a remote cabin in the hills of North Carolina in the middle of a winter snow storm. Now did they just happen to be at the same place, same time, or did fate step in and take control of a mistake waiting to happen? Big question…
Michael Kelly, a young lawyer making his way up in a very prestigious law firm Smyth -McGraw in Charlotte, NC, is all about his job, getting ahead, providing a good life for his young wife, his ultimate goal to make partner in the law firm. Working seventy and eighty hour weeks, he makes the ultimate mistake of leaving his young wife at home by herself, casting her aside leaving her alone to her own devices.
Maddy Kelly, a vivacious young fitness instructor/trainer is totally in love with her husband but the marriage is falling apart. She eats alone, wakes up alone and goes to bed alone her husband totally ignoring her needs and their marriage. After a miscarriage she can’t take it anymore and she leaves him determined to make a better life for herself, one where she matters only if to herself. Anything would be better than the lonely existence she's endured for the last five years of her marriage. She takes some much needed time off over the Thanksgiving holiday and decides to spend some time at a little cabin her and her husband still own. She loads up her two little dogs, lots’ of food and firewood and sets off, heedless of an approaching winter storm. When she is awaken in the late of night to find a man coming through the front door she boinks him over the head with the fireplace poker only to realize that it’s her soon to be ex-husband.
Now the fun begins between these two misguided lovers and fate is determined to get these two love lost people back on the right track. But can fate really step in and change our lives? Can fate put us back on the right path of life? You’ll find out!
I loved this little story, it’s not real long but the characters have depth and will grab you from the first page as the author regales a humorous tale of two lovers that have lost their way. The story line moves well, it’s easy to follow and the editing is great. There's a little deception, clean humor, and in the mix of hopes and dreams you have a very perceptive teenager. It’s a refreshing clean read, very little sex in the story but just enough that you’ll feel the love radiating from the characters. I highly recommend this book and will promote it as much as possible on my own sites. My hat is off to this author, for a successful story.
This title was provided to me at my request by Netgalley. "Just Married Again" is a sweet second chance romance. Michael and Maddy have been married for almost six years, but Michael's workaholic tendencies put a strain on the once passionate romance. Eventually the situation came to a head and Maddy felt she had no choice but to walk way. After nearly a year of separation, the machinations of an old family doctor strand the couple in their cabin with Michael's nephew and Maddy's dachshunds. What follows is a heartfelt story of love and reconciliations. "Just Married Again" is well written, though at times the attempt at comedy falls a bit flat. I am a reader who loves angst and drama in my romance novels, and this one offered enough of both to keep me coming back to the end.
The story is about a couple who has been separated for a year who winds up snowed in high in the mountains together. With a thirteen-year-old, snarky nephew. After Maddy clunks Michael in the head (mistaking him for an intruder), he has amnesia. His memory returns by morning, but by then, he’s decided to win Maddy back. The nephew adds to the fun.
While I didn’t like the Michael much in the beginning, he soon grew on me, and by the end, I was rooting for them to get back together.
This was a quick read (a few hours, but I read fast), but well worth my time.

DELICIOUSLY CUTE, SCRUMPTIOUSLY SWEET AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Just Married Again Author: Charlotte Hughes Genre: Romantic Comedy Designation: Standalone, No Cliffhanger My Rating: FIVE HEARTWARMING STARS***** This is my first time reading Charlotte Hughes and I must say, I'm impressed. After reading a few of the so-so reviews, I admit I was somewhat hesitant to try this book but I'm so glad I ignored the negative comments. I found Just Married Again by Charlotte Hughes to be not only a beautifully written story but delightfully entertaining as well. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the third person with his and her points of view. My favorite! The dialogue is well edited and flowed naturally. The story is a very realistic, fast paced, feel-good read which is also sweet, romantic, humorous, fun and easy to follow. The entire book is remarkably well crafted and edited and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I fell in love with the two protagonists, handsome, workaholic attorney Michael Kelly and beautiful, intelligent fitness trainer Maddy Kelly. I thought Michael and Maddy were captivating, engaging and relatable as were the stowaway nephew Danny, and the two dachshunds, Rambo and Muffin. I giggled, snorted, chuckled and laughed through the entire book. There was absolutely NOTHING boring about this book, but I'm not a professional reviewer. What I am, however, is a reader who knows what she likes, what she loves and what she doesn't and I loved this story. If you enjoy a sexy, heartwarming 'second chance at love' contemporary romance peppered throughout with a generous dollop of delicious humor and a huge helping of what I like to call 'the feels', then you will surely love this book.
Successful overworked attorney Michael Kelly found himself in quite the predicament. Ever since his wife Maddy left him ten months earlier, life had become almost intolerable. As a result of his beautiful wife's departure, he was now paying the price for his unhealthy lifestyle of not enough rest, no exercise, too many cigarettes, too much booze and an unhealthy ingestion of fast food. So what if he had put on a little weight! Surely a few extra pounds shouldn't be the reason for his blood pressure to be totally out of control. Oh, and he's also suffering from a bad case of jerk syndrome. Quite simply, he's finally realized that he's a colossal jerk and worse, just how wrong he's been - about everything. He wants nothing more than to make amends and convince his lovely, kindhearted wife to give him a second chance. Unfortunately, it's only a few weeks before their divorce will be final and he can't even get her to speak with him much less forgive him. And to add to his woes, his doctor is telling him if he doesn't change his ways and get some much needed rest and relaxation, he could die. Die? Wait - what? His family doctor and old friend prescribes not only medication for his hypertension but also a much needed relaxing Thanksgiving holiday away from everyone at his and Maddy's old cabin in the mountains. So, why not? He wouldn't be able to convince Maddy to give their marriage another chance if he was dead, now could he? The only problem - he had no idea that his well meaning family physician had recommended the same thing to Maddy and that she would also be at the cabin. Oh no! Oh yes! And naturally, he had no way of knowing that his nephew, Danny, would run away from home and stowaway in his car. Or that there would be a horrendous snow storm trapping everyone on the mountain. And of course, he could never have anticipated his soon to be ex-wife would hit him on the head with a fire poker thinking he was an intruder upon his arrival. Yikes! But in her defense, it was dark and the middle of the night when he arrived. Oh my! What a recipe for disaster!
Beautiful fitness trainer Maddy Kelly has suffered a tumultuous year after losing her baby and her husband. She may have been only ten weeks pregnant but the miscarriage had taken a terrible toll on her physically and mentally, especially knowing her husband Michael had never wanted the baby. His accusations of her tricking him by becoming pregnant on purpose along with the years of neglect as a result of his dedication to only his job as well as his failure to even come to the hospital when she lost the baby had been the final blow. Maddy was truly done - with him and the marriage. So what if she couldn't stop thinking about him? Maybe her family physician's recommendation of spending the Thanksgiving holiday at their cabin in the mountains could help mend her broken heart. Possibly, a little time away to lick her wounds and recover would be the best thing for her. What better place than her and Michael's old cabin? It may be on the market but it wasn't sold, yet. Michael never took any time off from his job so she wouldn't have to worry about him being at the cabin. After all, his career had been his wife, mistress and best friend. She and her two dachshund babies, Rambo and Muffin, could enjoy a relaxing holiday at the cabin before it's sold. Unfortunately, she had no idea that her well meaning family physician and old friend had set her up by recommending the same thing to her soon to be ex-husband, hot shot attorney Michael Kelly. Oh no! Oh yes! What a delicious recipe for disaster! Or not! Especially when said soon to be ex wakes up with a case of amnesia after she bludgeons him over the head. How was she to know that he wasn't an intruder? And to make matters worse, Michael's nephew, Danny, has run away from home and hidden in his car! Oh no! Even with no memory, a thirteen year old stowaway nephew and two jealous dachshunds, said ex still seems determined to make her fall in love with him all over again! What? But that would be impossible, wouldn't it? How can you fall in love with someone you've never stopped loving in the first place? And to add injury to insult, as a result of a terrible snowstorm, they all become trapped on the mountain in a very small three room cabin. Oh my! Let the shenanigans begin! Will Michael and Maddy find their way back to each other and get a second chance for love? We'll see! I loved it! Deliciously cute, scrumptiously sweet and delightfully entertaining. Did I like this book? Yes, I loved it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am! WIll I read this author again? Absolutely! ***Although there was no bad language in this story, there were some very tasteful and arousing sex scenes so I would recommend this book for adults only.
This book both vibrated the vocal cords with laughter and tightened them with sorrow. In the end though, we should all give a shout out to one brilliant Doctor’s meddling.
This book was fantastic. It was funny when the reader needed. It was deep and painful in all the right places. It was the perfect romantic comedy.
This book had the kind of characters that we all love. The meddling family Doctor who is quirky and caring. The high achieving lawyer with a work comes first mindset and last but not least….the wife who leaves him.
I think what spoke to me the most was the real part of this book. In a marriage, it’s easy to feel secure and lose sight of keeping your spouse happy. It’s like we realize that now we have someone, we don’t have to worry about that end of life so we check it off our to-do list and move on. We often forget that relationships are not static. They are organic and need attention indefinitely. If we don’t, very serious misunderstandings and neglect can result.
I love everything about this story. I love how everything came together for one big beautiful happy ending.
A workaholic lawyer, Michael has been advised by his doctor to get away to his mountain cabin for a bit of R&R, otherwise risk making his health issues worse.
Said doctor, also suggests to Michael’s estranged wife, Maddy, to spend time in the mountain cabin to get away from it all over Thanksgiving.
When Michael turns up at the cabin, late at night, Maddy’s fears get the better of her and she hits him on the head (thinking he’s an intruder) and he wakes up with amnesia – not recognising who she is or his stowaway nephew, Danny.
The three end up being trapped in the cabin when a snowstorm strands them there. Michael’s amnesia disappears by the next morning, and what follows is his plan to win his wife back before they leave the cabin, again.
This story was an easy, quick read, with some heartbreaking moments as we witness Maddy’s hurt, and Michael’s regret and sorrow at his neglect of his wife, as well as some humorous and some passionate moments.

“Maddy, do you think my darling husband hasn’t disappointed me before? ... Why, I’ve been mad enough to shoot his tires out with his own gun. One time I packed his bags and called his mama to come get him. Kathleen refused, of course. Said I was stuck with him. One day that woman is going to need a favor from me, and I’m going to remind her of that night.”
My Review:
Just Married Again was listed as a second chance romance as well as a romantic comedy, which is not entirely accurate. It was clearly a second chance romance, which is a trope I greatly enjoy. But while there was humor and fun banter, there was more tension and conflict than comedy in the inner musings and dialogue between the main characters. But when present - the use of levity was clever, well-placed, and highly welcomed. It was a quick read, easy to follow, and an entertaining way to spend an afternoon.
The blurb was very light. Husband wants wife back but fake amnesia. Michael and Maddy have some problems in the last few years of their marriage and she decide to ask divorce because all the problems and Michael's absence was too much for her.
But destined got in their way or could I said some Doc getting in their business??
The book has some really good funny moments specially with Danny (Michael's nephew) with his teenegares problems.
Most the book happen in a short time and in a short space(the cabin). Getting back together was not easy but off course they have a lot to deal but at least together they could resolve some issues.
Animal lovers with love this even I want to live in a farm with nature, some animals and a hot husband who love and chrerish for me.
Maddy and workaholic Michael were in the middle of a divorce. This book will grab you and take you for a non stop ride till you get to the end. There is humor all the way through. This is a definite winner. It is a must read. Received this from the author to review.
I love Charlotte Hughes humor. She makes me laugh and cry at the same time. Very good! For more of my thoughts on this book go to: http://romancingthereaders.blogspot.c...
Got to about 33% then I had to stop reading, I just really couldn't stand the story line - Where Michael was faking having Amnesia, to try and win her back....
i loved this book. The hurt and the love between these two is so real, they both want to be together but their hurt seems to get in their way. Not to mention a killer dash hound and an obnoxious teenager. It all feels so real, it really is the stupid stuff that happens when people can't get it together.
A sweet story about a couple that have decided on divorce and get snowed in together in a cabin beneath a col and snowy blizzard. Amnesia, a nephew that gets frostbit and high blood pressure creates a second chance to romance and life changes for both.
This was a cute romantic comedy and a quick read. I may have enjoyed it more if I had read it versus listening to it on Audible. I wasn't impressed with the narrator which made it hard to get through. As much as I love a second chance story I found this one to be a bit cheesy.
Loved this story between Maddy & Michael who are in the process of getting divorced but end up at the same mountain cabin to leave their troubles behind and relax. If it weren’t for being snowed in and Michael getting injured someone might’ve risked their life returning home in a blizzard.
First off, many thanks to Charlotte Hughes, who provided a free copy of Just Married Again in exchange for an honest review.
This is a hilarious second-chance romance. Maddy and Michael have been separated for a year and are on the edge of divorce when one weekend in a vicious snowstorm forces them together. Neither knew the other would be coming to their shared cabin over Thanksgiving, both thinking the other would be with family for the holiday. Maddie arrives first, with her two little dogs, and just barely escapes the teeth of the coming storm, having to hike in when her car gets stuck in the snow. When Michael arrives she clobbers him with a fire poker, thinking that he’s a criminal trying to break into the house. Unbeknownst to both her and Michael, his nephew has stowed away in the trunk of his car, and with his help she tends to Michael’s wounds. He awakens with amnesia. Maddy begins to see Michael in a new light as he recovers: this handsome, sweet man is miles away from the cold stranger to whom she was married.
Michael’s amnesia only lasts overnight, but he has no qualms about faking it to get Maddy’s attention. Over the past year one lesson has been driven home to him--he wants his wife back. Thanks to Maddy’s stellar avoidance techniques, he has barely had the chance to speak to her in the last year, much less convince her to give him another chance. The final event that caused their breakup was tragic, and Michael would consider himself lucky if she even deigned to speak to him afterwards. But if he can’t remember what happened….it’s not in Maddy’s sweet nature to hold him to something that he cannot remember. He’s going to take this opportunity to try to right some old wrongs, and heal a hurt that goes clear to the bone.
I enjoyed this short little tale, it was both funny and touching. The nephew and the dogs provided constant comic relief. It was sweet to see Maddy and Michael rediscovering each other after so long apart and so much pain between them. I could easily see this being made into a feel good Hallmark type movie, and being wildly successful.
thanks to Netgalley and A Romantic Comedy for my ARC.
this is second book by Charlotte Hughes. I did enjoy reading her first book and this was pleasant as well. What if Dr is meddling with your love life?? Michael and Maddy went to see Dr. Quigley right before Thanksgiving. Both were madly in love before but now they were separated and heading for divorce in couple of month. Dr. Quigley couldn't let both give up, he decided to put them together by suggesting vacation during Thanksgiving at their cabin. Maddy and Michael were madly in love and married for couple years but Maddy lost a baby and it caused Maddy to pull away from Michael and filed for divorce. Michael was workaholic lawyer who only cared for making it partner than anything else. they have drifted apart while he only focused on work. Maddy missed Michael and when she found out she was having a baby, she was expecting happy bliss but it wasn't very occasion for him. They meet again at the cabin but Maddy hit Michael's head with poker and he passed out. Also he temporarily has an amnesia. Danny, Michael's nephew who secretly came up with Michael is trying to calm Maddy. Now all three had to survive the snow storm without killing each other. Maddy really did not want to face Michael for numerous reasons and Michael never knew why he was divorcing Maddy. Michael is determined to win her back by prolonging his amnesia until he can figure out how to win her. Maddy wasn't sure what she was feeling. Maddy's two dogs, Maddy, Michael and Danny need to work together to survive the weekend without killing each other. Will they find their own happiness??? Maddy never new she still loved him and they gave into each other... But what will happen now???? will Michael change his work load and make Maddy happy??
It was fun short story and fun.. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys second chance at love.
I found myself wanting a light, sexy read and Just Married Again sounded like it might satisfy my itch. Maddy and Michael have been separated for ten months. Their well-meaning, private physician plants a thought in each of their heads that they need to get away to their mountain cabin for some rest and relaxation over Thanksgiving. Did he know they would both take him up on his suggestion? Did he realize there was a huge early snow storm moving in that would leave them both stranded there in the mountain wilderness? I am pretty sure the doctor didn’t know that Michael’s thirteen year-old nephew, Danny, would stowaway in Michael’s car when he headed for the rustic mountain cabin.
I found this an engaging read as we learn the backstory of Maddy and Michael’s breakup. Having Danny stranded with the couple was a clever trick to force both Michael and Maddy to keep their tempers in check. Danny also set up a base for the innocent reality of their situation. I enjoyed having both Michael’s and Maddy’s perspectives voiced. While Maddy is trying to protect her heart from further heartbreak, Michael is trying to figure out how to get back into Maddy’s good graces. Add in the antics of Maddy’s two dachshunds, Rambo and Muffin, and this ends up being the perfect storm; Michael doesn’t stand a chance. The comedy of errors that ensues keeps the mood light as these two learn to communicate and respect each other again.
I think Ms. Hughes was able to strike a nice balance between seriousness and folly in this story.
FYI: Adult sexual content between consenting adults. I found no offending language. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** May 6, 2016

Maddy blamed Michael for putting his career over her. She'd been so lonely in their marriage and after she lost the baby he wasn't exactly thrilled about in the first place she couldn't handle it anymore. She packed up, moved out, and basically disappeared. She didn't want him to contact her. She just wanted to get over him and get divorced. Problem with that is she was still in love with him and all it took was a little snow for her to realize it.
Michael knew he'd made mistakes in their marriage, but he'd been miserable since she'd left. All he wanted was her back. He was willing to do anything, if only she'd talk to him. When he ended up in the cabin with her he took it as a sign to try to win her back, but his methods weren't exactly truthful and in the end would bite him on the butt.
"He hadn't even realized how much he loved her until it was too late, until she'd lost their baby and moved out. No wonder she hated him. Jerk was too kind a word to describe his behavior."
From the synopsis I expected a lot more humor than was actually in the story. The nephew provided a few good laughs, but that was pretty much the extent of the comedy. There is a lot of remembering what went wrong, and apologizing, and even a little making up. It was sad, and heartbreaking, and in the end all it took was one event to save their marriage. A little miracle that saved everything.
My Favorite Moment: A moment of surrender. Even when Maddy knew she'd regret her actions she just couldn't allow the moment to pass without following through with what she wanted.
Michael is lost without his soon to be ex wife. He is working himself to death, not to mention drinking and smoking and eating only junk. If only she would talk to him... He could maybe win her back! Seeing his doctor and being told he is only days from death sends him scurrying up to his isolated mountain cabin (under doctors orders) to rest and relax and eat healthier. Will he be able to turn his health around? Or will he fall back into the pit of despair his wife leaving left him in? Will he be able to become a different person? Or is he too set in his ways?
Maddy is at a routine doctor's appointment when her doctor suggests that she should spend Thanksgiving alone relaxing instead of accepting her friends' pity invitations to spend the holiday with them. After "hearing" about her remote mountain cabin her doctor convinces her it would be the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday pampering herself. Will she ever really get over Michael? Will she ever heal from the anger his neglect caused her? Will relaxing in a remote cabin help her come to terms with the finality of her upcoming divorce?
Take two people still madly in love with each other and add one meddling family doctor shake it all up with a blizzard and a remote cabin in the mountains plus two dauchshunds and you have one crazy funny recipe for an amazing HEA! I can't wait to read more books like this :)
***This book is suitable for adult readers who enjoy second chances and cooky matchmakers in their contemporary romantic comedies with tons of surprises and chic lit leanings :)
This book was very sweet/cute and I found myself giggling aloud several times.
This is a reprint and I'm always interested in the difference in these romances as versus the new ones. In this, I really enjoyed the focus on their relationship and the lack of unrealistic melodrama that seems to permeate most of the newer stuff. This was refreshing. I saw two people who I feel (if it were IRL) would actually stay together. They had real problems, they worked out their issues, they communicated, they took responsibility, were grownups while doing so, and their HEA has oomph because I "felt" it and was invested in them. Nice change.
I realized upon reading that I actually have read another book previously by this author (enjoyed it), so I will likely by seeking out more.
This is a reissue of an earlier book under a different title, but I really enjoyed it. It is a funny, sweet second chance romance.
Maddy and Michael are about to get a divorce. Michael is the the workaholic husband who is trying to make it big in one of the most successful law firms in the area. Maddy, his wife, tried everything thing she could to get his attention back. She fails to do so and after a heart-wrenching experience she files for divorce. She packs up, moves into an unknown location, quits her job and does not tell Michael where she is. That finally wakes him up, but he is unable to locate her and when he showed up at her new job, he was escorted out. With the sneaky interference of their doctor, they both end up at their mountain cabin stranded during a major snowstorm on Thanksgiving weekend. Maddie arrives first and when Michael arrives she's terrified because she's not expecting anyone and bangs him over the head and knocks him out. When he comes too, he finds that he is suffering from temporary amnesia. Michael's nephew, Danny, has hidden in his vehicle so has also ended up at the cabin acting as chaperone and referee. When Michael regains his memory, he decides not to come clean and use this opportunity to try and win Maddy back. Will he be able to win her back before they get themselves dug out?
This is a cute, romantic holiday read. The characters are very likable down to the loveable, but contrary dachshunds.

"Just Married Again" by Charlotte Hughes is a romantic comedy. This is Maddy Kelly and Michael Kelly's story.
Michael has not been eating well, working too much, and started smoking since Maddy left and filed for a divorce. Michael's doctor has instructed him that he needs to get away to reduce his stress because it is effecting his health.
Maddy decides that she wants to be alone for the holidays so she decides to go their mountain cabin. During the night Maddy hears someone trying to break into the cabin. As the intruder enters Maddy whacks the intruder over the head with a fire poker. Boy, is Maddy surprised when she discovers that it is her soon to be ex-husband Michael. On top of that Maddy's 13 year old nephew has hidden in Michael's car. When Michael begins to respond he doesn't remember anything. He is experiencing a case of amnesia. Michael's memory returns and he wants to make his marriage work and is willing to do anything to get her back. He ends up pretending that he still has amnesia. Will they be able to work out their issues that pulled them apart?
I really liked the characters and really felt for them at times. I enjoyed the nephew and Maddy's two dogs. The dogs were not too fond of Michael at the beginning of the story. This story is filled with lots of humor, heartfelt moments, and passion. I really enjoyed this story. I couldn't put it down.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Victory Editing for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content.
