I must have been hit with the stupid stick today. Not for trying something new and looking for an alien to come close to my beloved blue guys. But for not DNF'ing!!!!

I have NEVER read a book with heroine who was genuinely STUPID! Like she has no ability to be smart, or even slightly less stupid! Being in her brain was torture! I bet it was hard to write because she was so dense.

ok anyway - that should have been enough. But I thought - what the hell - I have a couple of hours to myself this afternoon - let's waste it on a shitty book!

And shitty it was. Just about every trigger (except him with OW) was in this book.

Pardon me while I go bleach my brain.

spoilers below....

This book was physically painful.

I wanted to to throw myself off of some high surface to get away from its awfulness.

If someone were to pickup this book and start reading half through they would think the following things:
Damn this woman is dumb, is she perhaps mentally... Lacking?
louis tomlinson harry styles liam payne niall horan stop
Why does she keep referring to "her jewel"

Did she grow up locked in a room with absolute isolation and lack of education?

I hope she dies, b/c if she gets a HEA i will be forced to write hate-mail.
Did anyone notice that they are BASICALLY on earth and just add in a random planetary variance in laws and pretend that its another planet, and that its perfectly normal for these advanced civilizations far far away to use the exact same terminology, not to mention the same food and language? really?

Don't even get me started on the 6 sex slaves in this book. SO DUMB. SHE IS SO DUMB.

This book was terrible, it was physically painful to see into the brain of someone this slow.

JEEEEEEZ I cannot believe that I even got 1/4 of the way through this without lighting it on fire!

This is not a mail order bride novel. The connection to Terramates is vague and doesn't make sense when the heroine ends up at an alien slave market.

The interview was cliché and I'm sick of that scenario. Both sides were wrong. Tight, cleavage revealing shirt with short red skirt and 4" high heels--what comes to mind? Not business. Her mother's influence caused her flawed thinking but it is still hard to read. The heroine is a fool and ridiculously naïve.

The rest of the situations and reactions made me roll my eyes. The descriptions of clothes felt like a naughty nancy drew. And the failed protection talk *facepalm*

I had high hopes for this one because the first book was great. Too bad.

What happens when there are more men than those who wish to be married for money. Well the companies get creative and start to take them off the street. That is exactly what happened to Lyzette. She was taken against her will and sold to the highest bidder. After her purchase she was taken to a whole new planet. She found out that she became the property of a King on Marka. Lyzette was still a girl whom was pure and afraid of intimate contact, however understood her place to do as her master wished. Mikael, Lyzette's master, desired her to want to be with him. He began to treat her like any normal girl; taking her on dates, holding hands in the gardens, waiting patiently for their first kiss. Somewhere in the courting process Mikael actually fell in love with Lyzette. She became a pawn in the war between two clans for power and revenge. Mikael was willing to give up everything to keep her his. Lyzette was willing to lose everything to save the man she loves. Will love win out, or will it destroy them both? You will have to read in order to find out that answer.

This is a great book for anyone who loves romance, or alien love to read. I have found all the books I have read from Lisa Lace to be wonderfully written. Although this book was amazing, I believe that the idea of the TerrMates company was to match eligible men with women whom also made the choice to participate. This is a great stand alone story, but I am not sure it is great as part of the TerraMates series. It takes the image of the respectful mail order bride, to a slave labor situation. I prefer knowing that the mail order brides are by choice and not by force. This is the only reason that I am giving it four stars.

it was a little dramatic at the beginning, but it rapidly evolved into something more interesting with each chapter.

i liked that Lizette was a little more innocent and naive, i do think a lot of girls can empathize with her, a lot of us have lots of issues just like hers.

Mikael was cool he was sweet for a master i liked that and he really cared about the people at his service.

and the end was so lovely i really liked that one, it made my heart melt and sour to the skies knowing they could work everything out.

This book is about a young women named Lyzette who has low self esteem. She gets kidnapped and sold into slavery by an alien from Marka and she is bought by the Markanor not as his slave. The storyline is and characters are well developed. The plot makes for a interesting story. The story provides adventure and humor. I was given a free copy in exchange for a honest review.

As much as I love Mrs. Lace's books, I just couldn't give this one more stars than two. Lyzette was a horrible character that took damsel in distress to a whole new level. She was completely clueless and way to naive for her age. I enjoyed reading Mikael for the most part. For being such a strong alpha male he was completely useless when the moment needed a true alpha. I'm a woman, I'm down to read about boobs and all that pertain to boobs. When boobs are the main things that are talked about anytime a male is in the scene is just too much. I was so tired of hearing about Lyzette's big, wonderful, beautiful boobs. I love Mrs. Lace's books and would recommend pretty much every single one to any friend looking for a new book but not this one.

Taken is a very well written book that address issue that is hidden in the story. The story begins with Lynette who is trying to get a decent job but her shapely body gives the wrong impression to her potential male boss and the male population that she is a sex object than a person.

When Lynette is kidnapped by an alien to be sold to the highest bidder as a sex slave, Lynette lost all hope. She is demeaned in the worst possible way as a thing instead of a person. She is bought by a Markanor, Mikael who is the ruler of Marka. Lynette is scared that she will be rape but ended up with a promise that she will beg for Mikael's touch when he beds her.

Mikael has many concubines. Lynette is the first concubine that is scare of him. This doesn't sit will with him. Instead of taking Lynette by force, Mikael was going to woo her. Mikael's courtship of Lynette revealed his competitor, his weakness to continue as the ruler of Marka. With the opposing family who planned to take over his leadership, Lynette became a weapon to use against Mikael.

What I like about the story is that Lynette has low self-esteem which is cause by her mother. Everything that she does is criticized by her mother. Even in her many conversation with Mikael, her mother's quotes are often bought up by Lynette. I love it when Mikael said that even that he haven't meet Lynette's mother, he doesn't like her mother.

Another issue that is brought up in the story is sex slave trafficking. The story is blended well with this topic that most readers/listeners might not even observed. Most of the description described in the story for the sex slave trafficking aspect does happen in the third world countries. Most of the victims are treated as goods that can be used and sold several times. In Lynette's case, she is fortunate to have a kind and decent buyer to purchase her. Her situation, as mentioned several times in the story could have been worst.

The narrator, Addison Spear does a wonderful job in narrating the story. She gave Lynette emotion when she was deflated with a sex proposition for a job, when she is kidnapped, when she is a slaved, and when she discovered that she is stronger than she has previously believed. The narrator also gave Mikael's emotion when he is in love with Lynette but there is nothing he could do about their situation and the frustration that Mikael felt. It reminded me of how Thomas Jefferson's situation in his love for a slave.

I was given this audiobook by the author via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

**This review is for the AUDIOBOOK version** I am such a sucker for alien romances - never thought I'd be saying that, but there is this indescribable appeal to them and I rarely find myself bored in them like I am in the standard category romances lately. In Taken, Lyzette is a naive young woman who ends up getting dealt a solid when she is abducted by an alien slave trader, because her parent is that much of a piece of work.

Of course it doesn't seem like a fairytale at first, being that it isn't all that pleasant for her and the fact that she is now the property of a scary alien and all. But the book quickly moves into a sweet easy romance and you find yourself rooting Mikael on as he woos Lyz.

And I was so caught up in it, so sure I knew how it was going to go - just like that, sweet and wrapped up in a nice clean bow - I was unprepared for the dark turn of events. Not *Releasing Rage* kind of Dark (THAT BOOK, I AM STILL SHOCKED. BUT I STILL LOVE IT TOO) but I was like, "That wasn't supposed to happen..." and it kept me listening raptly to see how this would go. This was a story that I think I'd have liked to go longer, get deeper into the details and hook a listener in hard, but on the flipside, this moved so fast it never got stale and for some of the events in here that would normally be a turnoff for some readers, they shouldn't be put out due to the way they were handled.

I think this is the first time I've listened to work by Addison Spear and she had a nice voice. Nice pace, perfect audio quality, no complaints.

It was a great listen, and I was so grateful because man I've been getting bored. The last couple books I've been flipping through and I couldn't tell if it was the book content or just me being burned out but that wasn't an issue here. THANKS FOR A LOVELY ESCAPE! I received this audio for free in return for my honest review.

"Lyzette, I don't even know your mom, and I don't like her. I don't want to hear what your mother has to say."
(My favorite line in the book. Lol)

This is only my second book by this author, the first having been the first in this series but I can tell she is going to be a new favorite of mine. So why 4 srars? Well there was just a little too much violating going on. It's a testament to great writing skill that I didn't feel like not finishing this book after all the ordeals Lyz had to go through.

Lyz goes for a job interview. The boss tries to molest her. She goes to buy fries at a pub and guys follow her out. To molest her. She thinks she's been rescued by a guy in a black suit but guess what? He molests her too. Then he takes her to a slave market. Everyone is molesting her through the bars of the cage.

Mikael buys her and he is the only one who doesn't molest her. Incidentally, he's a king. When he realises how afraid she is of spending the night with him as his slave he sends her back to her room. He courts her and they fall for eachother naturally, and then he takes her virginity.

The rival clan however sees how much he likes his new slave and they kidnap her. Then... wait for it. They molest her.

Well, I think you get the jist of this. The writing was really good though and I didn't feel like hurling my ereader as I would normally with another author. Also, no rape occurs thankfully although it was close once or twice.

Hero saves the day, cries for the girl and they live happily ever after. I think I'm getting addicted to this hero crying thing with this author. It really makes the heros more endearing.

TAKEN, the second book in the Terramates series by Lisa Lace really captivated my interest from beginning to end. And yes, sorry. but pun intended. Taken was a clearly well-thought-out storyline with a believably built-up romance between the two main characters. There were some unexpected twists, some violence and danger, some unlikely female bonding and empowerment, and some very steamy scenes between Mikael and Lyzette... and not the type I expected. All working together to make this a very fascinating read that I enjoyed very much.

I really admired the strength portrayed in Lyzette's personality despite her constant feelings of not being smart enough to do well or be respected. And despite her horrible mother and home life, she bravely faces the situation she finds herself in after being kidnapped off the streets and sold into slavery. Rather than whine she essentially puts her shoulders back and makes the best of the situation.

As the ruler of the planet Marka, Mikael is a very powerful and respected man. He has had many consorts. All who continue to serve his household rather than being put away or sold for someone else's slave. He is bound in many ways by the traditions of his family and his planet. No one is more surprised than he when Lyzette, his latest choice of consort causes him to see things in a different light. No other woman has ever touched his heart the way this Earth woman has. He begins to reconsider his actions as a man and as a ruler. I enjoyed every bit of the story and was very impressed with the outcome. Fabulous ending. 4.5 stars

This is a little different than the first book we are kidnapped off the streets that's where we get "Taken" a bad alien that bites venomous poison bit me than took me to another planet. I definitely recommend this
book it can be stand alone but it nice to read the series.
Lyzette aka Lyzzie or Lyz  is an earthling with a voluptuous body. Where ever she went men would try to get her "Jewels" but that's one thing she would never let anybody touch the "Jewels" they were important to her no one but her husband would get access. Or so she thought then she was stripped and given a piece of material to wear, hung by chains in a cage to be sold at a slave market. Many Aliens came to fondle
her and bid(money) credits. How can she survive this?
Mikael the Markanor has ruled on the planet Marka for hundreds of years. He was good and honest whose treatment to his slaves was the very best. He tried to understand the human but she was so paralyzed with fear she couldn't answer his questions. Was he going beat her now or worse rape her?

I received a free copy of "Taken" in exchange for an unbiased review. This story was a little bit different than the ones I usually read. It was about a young woman, Lyzette, being kidnapped by aliens and taken to another planet. It was pretty sedate in that she accepted her fate quite well. However, just getting away from her poisonous mother, was a story in itself. The story line was pretty typical, with Mikael, gorgeous hunk, loving her at first sight (almost), buying her as a sex slave only to find out she is a virgin and then the back and forth between them goes from there. It is a happy story that makes you feel good with a little bit of thriller to make you blood run fast. I haven't read the first book in this series (I understand it really isn't a series), but am looking forward to reading it. I will buy more of Lisa Lace's works of art, since this one kept me focused and I listened/read it in just a couple of days. Great Job Lisa. Enjoyed.

Taken
Lisa Lace

Aliens, human women, abduction, sex slaves plus more. A Terramates novel that once again had it all to make of a great adventure of alien romance. If you liked all of the other Terramates novels you won't be disappointed with this one.

Lyzette is use to things not going her way all the time. And  hearing her mom talk down to her all the time was despressing. So whats a girl to do when she is abducted off the streets from one bad situation and into the frying pan? Waking up to be put on display for aliens pleasure is not what she signed up for when running down the dark alley way. Life isn't always fair as the saying goes. Now her only hope is one of the aliens passing by or haggling with her adbucter is nice and perhaps letting her go... That is until he walks up to the man in the suit....

Disgusting book, it's like the writer wanted to see just how many sexual assaults she could cram into one book. Warning this book has many scenes with triggers. It should come with a warning and does not belong in this series. I only forced myself to finish because I planned on reading the rest of the series but now I have 2nd thoughts and wondering if she will spring this filth in her other books. I couldn't even enjoy the regular sex scenes I was so traumatized from the multiple assaults. To top it off the heroine was dumber than a box of rocks it was so unbelievable. Even though it was hard to like her or relate to her NO ONE deserves how she was treated. It didn't even have anything to do with Terra Mates or mail order brides, it was only briefly mentioned.

A great romantic read with suspense thrown in. Lyzette is a human abducted and sold into slavery to the King of Marka, Mikael. Mikael is intrigued when she comes to him afraid and innocent. Lyzette is too innocent to live in this day in age though. Mikael decides to court her and then things get interesting. Another Clan puts them in danger trying to take over the Kingdom. I really enjoyed the book and cant wait to see what else this author writes.

I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

This second book goes in a very different direction than the first and at the beginning I was very upset with TerraMates! How dare they encourage kidnapping and slavery! Lyzette is a rather sad excuse of a woman whose warped way of thinking just irked me. Mikael is rather entitled but also kind hearted even though his ignorance on what slaves may or may not feel bothered me as well. After my initial upset it transitions in to a Pretty Woman type of story and then bam, goes somewhere else entirely! In the end this was a suspenseful read that took me on an unexpected journey of growth for both characters as well as their alien planet.

Gifted a copy in exchange for honest review:

I went into this book thinking it would be similar to the first book in the series. To a degree it is. Taken involves kidnapping and forced into slavery. Not marriage. So once you get past that then the story has a good plot. I wouldn't have expected it to be part of TerraMates series but it is still good. Look forward to seeing where the writer goes with this series since the first two only have the common factor of alien relationships.

Note: Due to adult content it is meant for readers over 18 yrs old. Triggers include kidnapping, rape, and abuse.

Lyzette may have hated her life sometimes, but the last thing she wanted was to be kidnapped by an alien slaver. She is lucky enough to catch the eye of Mikael, the Markanor of the planet Marka, and sold to him. This book has some suspenseful moments, violence, hot sex, and a happily ever after. Great book that I enjoyed very much.

Attention grabbing and erotic

Mikael was a refugee alpha and so loyal even to his servants. His true worth was discovered in his finding the love of his life. Lizzie was a young woman who allows her mother's short comings to become best life pattern. Michael was best salvation. His love for her cause his planet to change as well as making her first experience a romantic and memorable experience. Great read.

I actually liked this book. This isn't the first alien romance I've listen to. This was an interesting story I'm glad the girl in this story got married to the guy because I knew he actually liked her. I know it's weird with the situations with the Aliens and Humans but the stories always catch my attention I'm the end. Good book.

Too much sexual assault

The whole book is spent with the heroine being sexually assaulted by various men. It happens throughout the entire book. I hated this book. It felt nothing like the rest of the series and I found myself skimming it so I could get to the next book.

I applaud the narrator for reading and finishing this book.

I was not a fan. Firstly, I had an issue with the interview that took place as Lyzette was looking for employment. The clothing that she wore to the interview wasn't proper attire, a tight shirt showing cleavage and a short skirt with 4 inch heels does not land you a job as an assistant or secretary. Now I do understand that Lyzette has been led astray by her mother and her teachings, but I don't understand how she as a human didn't grasp the fact that clothing affects some men and sends the wrong message. I personally have a problem with society and how they label women as lesser based on their article of clothing or profession, but I just found it impossibly childish for Lyzette to continue believing that things like clothing does not tie into the attention she receives.

Second, I don't understand or see the connection of the mail order bride agency with this book. The agency was vaguely mentioned during the first half of the book but only once and randomly at that. I thought it weird to be associated with the Terra Mates series, when the agency was not actually used in the process of mail brides.

Third, I hate the use of slaves. I personally don't find the idea attractive unless it is only used in the bathroom as a domineering manner, and not an act of life. I could be biased on this part, but I couldn't get into the fact that she was purchased and meant to be used as a slave and while Lyzette went along with her new life.

I had many more issues with this book, I was hoping the second book in the series would give me a little more feelings than the first but alas I am yet again left unsatisfied. I am not sure if I will continue to read/listen to the remaining books in the series, but I am curious to see if they get any better as they progress.
