My Prince

Rate this book
After growing up in a rough part of town, George Maguire worked his way out of Manchester and to a career as a design engineer. Alexander van Amsberg, an architecture student at the University of Edinburgh, wasn’t the sort of guy he normally had explosive, hotel-room one-night-stands with. Alex was charming, classy, and, as George later learns, Prince of the Netherlands.

Fate brings them together again, and Alex makes sure to get his sexy stranger’s phone number this time. Despite all the reasons why they shouldn’t work, something clicks, and Alex thinks that this time, he might have found the right guy. But Alex’s aristocratic ex stirs up trouble in the press for George and his humble family, and Alex realizes he has to get real about having a boyfriend from the wrong side of town.

While George acknowledges his modest upbringing, he doesn’t let anyone insult his family. Life’s no fairy tale, and regardless of his royal title, Alex might destroy his one chance for happily ever after.

Anna Martin is from a picturesque seaside village in the south west of England. After spending most of her childhood making up stories, she studied English Literature at university before attempting to turn her hand as a professional writer.

Apart from being physically dependent on her laptop, she is enthusiastic about writing and producing local grassroots theatre (especially at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she can be found every summer), travelling, learning to play the ukulele, and Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk.

Although her most recent work is in the LGBT romance genre, in the past Anna has worked on a variety of different projects including short stories, drabbles, flash fiction, fan fiction, plays for both children and adults, and poetry. She has written novels in the Teen or Young Adult genre, Romance and Fantasy novels.

Anna is, by her own admission, almost unhealthily obsessed with books. The library she has amassed is both large and diverse; "My favourite books," she says, "are 'The Moonstone' by Wilkie Collins, 'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee and 'Oryx and Crake' by Margaret Atwood." She also owns multiple copies of Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park books and re-reads the Harry Potter novels with almost startling regularity.

Anna claims her entire career is due to the love, support, pre-reading and creative ass-kicking provided by her closest friend Jennifer. Jennifer refuses to accept any responsibility for anything Anna has written.

This book, you guys, is ALL THAT and a muffin.

Funny
Sweet
Romantic
Sexy
REAL

I'm positively giddy about it.

Anna Martin's had two big hits in a row for me: Signs, which made my heart hurt in the best way possible, and now this one.

Signs is an achingly beautiful story filled with love, yes, but also sorrow. My Prince is lighter and definitely adult.

George and Alex are both in their 20s and know what they want, namely each other, first for the sex, later for much more.

So what if Alex is from a royal family in the Netherlands and George grew up on a council estate in Manchester?

Alex is posh; he can't help that. He can be a princess, and he's used to the finer things in life, like a cleaner who does the chores for him. But he sees beyond George's gruff manner and cheap suits.

George is hot, no doubt, all buff from playing rugby, but he's also made a decent life for himself designing football helmets. His housing situation leaves much to be desired, but that's because he sends money to help his mom out every month.

I worried George's family would be a bunch of lazy arseholes using George, but that wasn't the case at all. They are a loving, close-knit bunch, and George's nan is utterly hilarious.

Alex's family is great too, and George (mostly) manages to keep it together when he goes with Alex to a family birthday party ... at a castle.

There is no family angst to be had here.

The men come from different worlds, and Alex worries how being in the public eye will affect George. But George is awesome about it, and that made me love him just a little bit more.

There is also a misunderstanding that ends with George storming off and Alex putting his foot in his mouth.

George overhears Alex saying something terrible and takes it completely out of context. He storms off and won't take Alex's phone calls. But he MISSES Alex, and they work it out. Like ADULTS. (With a little bit of help from Alex's friend Doug, who is such a complex secondary character and brightens up every scene he's in.)

Didn't I say this book was REAL?

The men banter, hold hands, make frantic love, lick and suck, cook big breakfasts ... and discuss dildos.

George upon discovering Alex's toy collection:

"So you found Mr. Happy? Alex said ...

George scowled. "Is that what you call it?"

"That one, yeah."

"Oh, I already found his friends. Let me guess ... Mr. Buzzy, Mr. Butt Plug, Mr. Oh Holy Shit, How The Fuck Does That Thing Fit In Your Ass?"

Don't hold back, George, don't hold back.

This book is set in Edinburgh and is wonderfully British. It's wonderful period: CHARMING and WITTY and a little dirty, with an absolutely perfect HEA.

All that and a pocket square.

George Maguire is a decent guy who works as a design engineer and cares about his big family. He's not completely out of the closet but that doesn't stop him from cruising for one-night-stands at a club. He hooks up with a charming guy named Alex who later turns out to be the Prince of the Netherlands and who also turns his world upside down.

I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to love this as much as I loved Signs. And I didn't. This story wasn't very exciting, which is a bummer. Some things sound way more 'dramatic' in the blurb than they actually are in the book, where there's only a teeny-tiny bit of drama that gets resolved pretty quickly. Don't get me wrong, I still liked it, but I just felt like there was something missing.

Overall, this is a sweet, sexy, easy and quite nice read. Unfortunately, it didn't rock my world as hard as I hoped it would, but it may rock yours. So if you're in a mood for something fluffy with no angst, you should give it a go.

I had high expectations for this book. Sadly, I'm guessing my expectations were way too high. My Prince, for me, is a vanilla story. This lacked enough steam with an unsurprising story direction. Funny characters, sure, but they lacked enough personality to allow me to distinguish one from the other. The sex, I skipped from time to time, due to the repetitiveness. And what was that ending? Very anticlimactic, I'd say.

This would have worked for me if Alex's royal background was used to its full potential. When the book mentioned that he was fifth in line for the throne, I knew then that his princely status would function more as a profession than a game-changer to the story. So I guessed that George's entrance to Alex's life would bear little impact to the development of the story. And I was right. Not really the two-people-from-different-worlds-falling-in-love storyline I was originally expecting. Sorry.

I appreciated this fic for what it was.

Sexy, funny, real.

Ah that word - real. If you want grand sweeping gestures and out of this world epic love, it's not going to be here but that does not lessen the enjoyment factor.

Pretty much this was a step by step telling of how Alex and George navigate all the same stuff as everyone else - dating, meeting the parents/family, confronting old boyfriends, insecurity, experimentation, fights and misunderstandings - with just the small glitch of one of them being a royal prince.

Having said that, I liked reading about these two blokes who couldn't be more different, and despite those differences find in the other, something that just clicks. Really quite the lovely, easy read.

Thanks Meags for the charming company as always! I love it when you get bossy!

This is one of those books that got lost in my TBR pile. But it popped up on my feed this week (thanks Kristin) and sounded good.

I also really liked Tattoos and Teacups by this author.

This one had a lot of the things I love in a book:

--opposites attract
--funny banter
--good steam
--low angst
--good writing
--likable MCs

It was the perfect read to start out 2017!

I really, really liked this book. So much more than I originally thought I would actually. I have to admit... I have a thing for royal romances. There's something magical, almost fairytale like about them and I can't help loving the escape off that.
This however, was different. It felt real. Alex and George felt like real gay guys. The problem they faced was problems real gay guys face. Okay, maybe not being outed by the press, but the rest. I loved it.

There was no unnecessary drama. No evil villains (except the ex, but even he was surprisingly mellow, and we get warned about him in the blurb). Nothing over the top. It was just a really sweet and charming story. It's my first encounter with Anna Martin but I'm going to check out her other books asap.

this was a buddyread with Susan, Elsbeth and Karlijn...us dutchgirls had to read this one together :)

So this book.....

 photo someday_my_prince_will_come_tn-49341_zps9dnwehxm.jpg

And the prince did come....litteraly...lol

I really enjoyed reading this one. I'm not gonna share too many details, because I don't want to spoil reading it for anybody.

George and Alex hook up at a club...bamn insta-lust. They go at it...which was very hot, but it was just a seks thing...nothing more.

George, who's just a regular Joe, goes home and resumes normal life. Alex however is not just a regular Joe. George gets confronted with that little fact while watching tv and seeing Alex...is not just rich...but royalty. Alex is Prince of the Netherlands. George is a little bit impressed with himself...you know...having fucked royalty and all, but doesn't think too much of it otherwise.

At a charity event they meet again and Alex let's George know he's interested in more than just a one time fuck...and he wants to take George on a date.

These guys are so different. George is from a huge family and he grew up on the wrong side of the track so to say. His parents had to work real hard to make ends meet. He's also not completely out. His parents, brother and nan (who was great) know, but not the rest of his siblings and friends. He has only discovered his own sexual preferences a year and a half ago, so he's not ready to be completely out.

Alex is full out. Being the prince of the Netherlands didn't stop him from coming out. The whole world knows Alex is gay.

Alex and George were awesome together....I laughed my ass off !! Ofcourse not everything is gonna be easy, being from 2 very different worlds. There is an asshole ex, papparazi, royalty parties, rugby teammates and Alex...who needs to put his foot in his mouth !!

There is some very nice steam in this one and even a converstation about dildo's. Can't imagine our previous prince Alexander (who is now the king) having a conversation about dildo's

 photo 532852_zps1stm4twu.gif

Which brings me to the next question. Was it realistic ?? For me...NO.

I think the Netherlands is a very gayfriendly country, but I can't see one of our princes coming out as gay. They only visit Amsterdam once in this book, so I can't complain about stuff not being decribed right. I know that our former princess (now queen) had to give up her family to be with our king. Things are not that easy. In the book Alex says he'll look into changing some rules so maybe he doesn't have to give up his title when and if he marries George some day.
I don't think in real life that would be an option. As far as I know our princes don't get to change any rules....but maybe one of my dutch buddies knows more about this than me :))

So yes, I laughed and swooned and had to fan myself..it was a very nice read. I tried very very very hard not to picture our former prince Alexander in my head....because he is really not that hot ;)

4 stars from me, because the ending although very sweet, was to abrupt for me. I wanted to know more, there are still too many questions for me, that were left unanswered.

Thank you Susan, Elsbeth and Karlijn for reading this with me....curious about you're reviews :))

Very sort review ahead.

This is my favorite Anna Martin book after Signs and Tattoos & Teacups.

It may include a prince, but above all this story felt REAL. Everything about it... the sex,the pace the relationship progressed, the "I love you", everything came natural. Same goes for the HEA.

Alex and George talk, make love, fight and make up. No major plot twists, just a sweet, sexy story. I never got bored though, not for one second.

Great story. Recommended!

This book had a prince, a palace, and paparazzi. Everything else about it was blessedly normal - and sweet for it, but not terribly exciting.

Also, the more I look at this cover, the more irritated I am by it. I mean, the men are smexy and the colour blends are gorgeous, but what the hell does a train station and the Palace of Westminster in London have to do with a book set in Edinburgh, Manchester, and the Netherlands?!

I loved every page of this book. Every page. For real.

I know there should have been some extra drama and proper angst and so much more difficulty but I loved it even more because there wasn't.

It was just pretty.

I loved their relationship. I loved how they just fit. I loved how they accepted. I love how they just knew it would work if they wanted it to work.

They wanted it to work.

So, much love for this one. Could have been the timing or really, it could just be that pretty.

George Maguire is a normal bloke who works hard, plays hard, and helps take care of his large, boisterous family. Occasionally he likes to hit the pub or clubs and take someone home for the night. One night he meets Alex, a gorgeous blond and they have a single, spectacular night together.

Sweet

George leaves the next morning and steps back into his regularly scheduled life. Alex is a pleasant memory that takes on a new twist when George sees a news program and finds out "Alex" is actually Alexander vam Amsberg, Prince of the Netherlands, and fifth in line to the throne. George doesn't tell anyone, he simply files the information away along with his wonderful memory of their single night together.

Then six months later, when George is at a charity function representing the company he works for, he sees Alex again and accepts when Alex asks him out on a date. Slowly their romance blooms.

Light touch

Four things I loved about this story is that the romance is low angst, real without losing romance, humorous, and sexy. Even though the two are from wildly different backgrounds they work at their relationship, and even when some miscommunication happens, it happens realistically and wasn't upsetting - it feels real. Though the story does lose a little momentum toward the middle, it picks back up again pretty quickly, and then races toward the very sweet, enjoyable HFN/HEA ending.

Bottom Line: This is a, enjoyable, sweet, low angst love story that keeps it realistic without losing the romance.

Here’s a gorgeous picture of Edinburgh, the main setting of this lovely story.

Nice, huh!? Great city; beautiful cityscape - literally my favourite place in the world to visit!

Now, this next picture is an image of London, looking at Big Ben from across the Thames.

London is also a great city, but not a setting within this particular story.

So my question is this: Why is London the background image on the book cover? Seriously!? So fricken random.

But I digress.

Inconsistent cover art aside, I truly enjoyed this story. It was a nice angst-free read. The characters were fairly likeable and the romance was unassuming. Regardless of the fact that this story was about an everyday guy and a Prince falling in love, it (somehow) had a very real feel to it. All the relationship matters George and Alex face were fundamentally commonplace. Nothing outlandish occurred in this story, which was pleasantly surprising because I kind of expected some extreme drama considering the fact that one of them was a god damn Prince. But alas, it was mainly rainbows and unicorns and general good feels all around.

I could have done with a bit more at the end of the story, as the ending was a tad abrupt, but we can't have everything!

Smashing these buddy reads left, right and centre, with the always fabulous R!

For reasons COMPLETELY unknown to me, I read this 2 years ago, gave it 2 stars and called it a day.
description
And I have no clue WHY!?!?!
I didn't make any highlights (had another Kindle then though), I didn't make any notes anywhere and I did not write a review.
And seriously: I am a complete IDIOT!

In my margarita-soaked brain, I did recall that I had read this book, but I did not recall leaving a 2-star rating.
And had I seen THAT before starting this, I might not have picked this book up again, and THAT would have been a 'Major Crime' against my reading-happiness.
description
It's not like a LOT actually happened in this story, but for fans of the His Royal Secret-series, this should be RIGHT up their alley.
And I am a BIG fan of those books.

It is a sweet, romantic story of being true to yourself AND your partner. Navigating the every-day-life-issues, that are part of our every-day-lives. With the twist that Alex is from a Royal Family.
I was SOLD on this story *clears throat, whispers* the second time around and finished it in one sitting.

There is the 'typical' conflict and an angry ex, but I think it fit the story, since the added pressure of being 'Royal' and 'Normal', cannot be an easy, breezy, covergirl-type-situation -IMO.
I liked that George was strong-willed, but that they both apologized, when it really came down to it.
They were both stubborn, but they got good (seriously is that how you say that???) at talking things out, and LISTENING which I thought was wonderful.

Also both families and Alex's friend (I cannot for the life of me remember his name; I swear my brain is FUCKING useless!) added a humorous touch, that I thought changed the story from being TOO mundane and every-day-lives, to being a well-rounded, sweet experience.

Lastly we have the smexy times and *ding ding ding* we have a butt-virgin in the house, people!
Also I loved their chemistry and I their playfulness. They truly made me smile.
description
So yes, lesson learned!

I am definitely a grumpy reader, but me, giving this 2 stars, makes NO sense, since I completely enjoyed this story, now.

No, nothing much happened. It didn't change my worldview or challenge my perception of "the universe" and I would have loved an epilogue a few years down the road.
But Alex and George had me making 'heart-eyes' throughout the story, they made me smile and this will definitely be read again, with MUCH enjoyment!

BR with the lovely Dutch girls Karlijn, Wendy and Elsbeth.

2.5 stars

Of course we Dutch girls had to read this. A story about a prince from the Netherlands!

description

But unfortunately this wasn’t the book for me. And it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Alex was from the Netherlands and the authenticity of this book. That part was actually pretty well done. There wasn’t a lot of it in it that could go wrong. I think that was very smart of Anna Martin.

This story is set in Edinburgh and Alex is more English than Dutch. Yes, we do get a small trip to Amsterdam and there is talk of Alex’ family, but it was not very detailed, so that was fine.

There were some references in it that made sense for us Dutch people.

”But I guarantee you my dad won’t be wearing one. He hates wearing ties as much as my granddad.”

Yes, our former prince (husband of our former queen) was ‘famous’ for taking off his tie in the middle of a social event.

And of course our most popular football team is mentioned. Those little references made it more real somehow. But it wasn’t overdone. It had a perfect balance. So being Dutch had nothing to do with me not liking this book.

What did bother me:

The writing. Sometimes I felt parts were missing. One minute they were at the bar, the next they were kissing in a corner.
One minute they were taking it slow and were lying in bed, the next there is pounding going on. I kind of wanted more details. It was confusing.

description

The relationship. It was quite boring. The guys were actually quite boring. There was nothing that really stood out. They simply were. And they fought over things that were really unnecessary. It all got blown up for no reason (I hate artificial angst).

Too much ‘realism’ in the relationship. George being jealous of Alex’s dildos. Both of them being grossed out after barebacking the first time. The mention of how often a week they had sex. That was mentioned quite a lot actually. They tell George’s friend that they have sex about 4 times a week and it is mentioned several times that they don’t have time for sex during the week, but only on weekends. So…. that takes the steam right out it for me.

description

Yes, I know! But I want my book boys to be at least a little dirty…

I liked our BR! And had a few good laughs about the Dutch names (they were SO WRONG).
I know a lot of you will probably like it, but I will just be over there, at the unpopular table.

I really enjoyed this story! Anna Martin continues to engage me. Alex picks George up in a bar, and they have a smokin' hot night together.

Months later George sees Alex on TV and discovers Alex is a prince, distant in line, but a prince still, of the Netherlands. George is from a "normal," non-royal, working-class family. Well fuck a duck - he screwed royalty! I might have some feelings about that. I'm not sure what, but I'd have something going on in my head.

Fast forward a few months to a charity event, and George comes face to face with Alex. Where Alex proceeds to ask him out. And so begins the dating tale of these two.

What I liked about this story was how REAL it felt. Martin does a really good job of bringing me into their world where nothing felt contrived. Alex is privileged, yes, but he isn't an arrogant douche. He's likable.

It's a slow-burn romance here, and it was delicious. It develops over time. They get to know each other. They actually DATE!! And we see it all unfold.

BR, October 9th with us Dutch girls; Moi, Susan, Karlijn en Wendy.

* 3.5 My Prince stars *

This was a sweet, romantic love story.. Very slow paced, somewhat boring at times but overall I enjoyed it enough!

I was a bit worried in the beginning about the insta lust but they quickly wanted more and it develops in a relationship. This relationship is not easy because they come from very different backgrounds.

George, a simple working man with his roots in Manchester. He plays rugby in his spare time. Alex, the nephew of the King of the Netherlands, a bit spoiled and studying at the university of Edinburgh.

But somehow they found common grounds. They were very sweet together.

“You know that doesn’t matter to me. I don’t look at you and see your family, George, or your background, or your upbringing. I see this man, who I’m falling in love with.”

The ending was.. swoon

Thanks girlies; Susan, Wendy and Karlijn for this BR!!

Very sweet romance with no angst.

This wasn’t what I expected from the blurb, but it was still adorable. There’s really no angst and the royalty aspect mostly just plays out as one of the MCs being really wealthy and the other growing up poor.

A one night stand turns into a relationship and we follow the two MCs as their feelings grow. There’s the sense that one MC isn’t super comfortable fully coming out, but there ends up being zero drama regarding it and he’s surprisingly cool about it when it comes out in a national tabloid. There’s really no angst here apart from the dreaded miscommunication, but that ends quickly. Everything from saying “I love you” to meeting the parents goes well. It’s adorable, but it also took me a bit to read this because there was just no tension or need to know what happened next. If you’re looking for fluffy, then this will provide.

I will say that I absolutely loved these MCs and how they were written. They felt so real and I’d go as far as to say they might be some of the most “real” characters I’ve ever read. The conversations and emotions rang true and I could picture these characters as actual people. It was impressive and I’ll applaud the author for that. I’m actually giving my rating an extra star solely based on that.

I’m a sucker for Anna Martin’s books. I love all of her characters. I thoroughly enjoyed George and Alex’s story. It’s sweet and Cinderella like without being over the top. I loved how Alex was not the typical prince in romance novels. He was someone I believe could exist. And George was awesome. Honest, hard working and a thinker albeit too clueless about STD’s for my taste. I still cannot believe the conversation in the Sauna with Doug and friends.
If you are a sucker like me for happy endings and opposites atrack stories, go for it. You won’t regret it.

This song was running in my mind all the weekend, while I was reading this:

Well, prince aside, it was a very nice, sweet story, but not overly sweet and never cheesy or sappy. I really, really liked both of those guys, and the fact that they kept talking about their problems rather than throwing tantrums. And I LOVED the Edinburgh setting so much!
Very well done.

5+ "YOUR HIGHNESS" STARS

My Prince by Anna Martin was all kinds of dreamy and amazing. It was incredibly romantic, sexy, emotional and a very satisfactory read all around. Imagine your one time hookup turning out to be actual royalty, in this case a "PRINCE". Well that's what happens to our rugby playing stud George Macguire, when he hooks up with Alex Van Amberg. But meeting your prince charming does not equalize to getting your fairy tale HEA. George and Alex may rock beneath the sheets but theyhad to go through all the emotional turmoil and uncertainty like any other normal couple to finally get their storybook ending. And i had an amazing time reading about their journey to find love.

George and Alex were just too cute together. They had this instant connection from the very first time they meet. The social status difference between them was huge but they both bridged the gap so adoringly. Alex was always supportive and appreciative of George. They both fit together like gloves.

I loved the interactions they both have with each others parents. Alex being overwhelmed by George's brood was funny as hell. George was intimidated by Alex's royal parents but they all treated him with so much respect and love. All the characters were pretty decent people and there was no stereotyping or belittling of working class people which is expected when a prince is in love with a pauper. Just for this i am giving this a 5 stars.

The relationship between Alex and George progressed without a lot of drama. They both had misgivings about being in a relationship and they worked out the kinks real nicely.

All over a very sweet, hot and romantic story. Recommended to all romance lovers!!!

This book was maybe the lowest angst I've ever read so if you don't like that, look away. I enjoyed it for the most part but there were too many mundane details in there. Every gesture was described: that they open the toothpaste, brush their teeth for 3min, close the toothpaste, wash their hands, turn off the light and closing the bathroom door when they exit. I'm paraphrasing but sometimes it was kind of like that. I still had a good time but something was missing to me in the characterization and relationship. George in particular lacked depth and I did not fully see what they saw in each other. I liked that we saw their friends and them doing activities outside their house/jobs. They were sweet, let's be honest. Some of the drama was kind of swept under the rug: the class differences was never really a problem and I feel it should have been, there was an incident that was never addressed again so I wondered why it was included.
All in all not a bad book by any means, I had a good time but I doubt it will stay with me.

If it says ‘Anna Marin’ on the cover there is a good chance I am going to read it. I love this author’s writing style and her books always are so damn fun to read. Add to that the fact that I have a huge love of the whole ‘accidentally dating royalty’ trope, and this book was an absolute no-brainer for me. I just had to have it.

George is no-one’s idea of a damsel in distress and in need of prince to rescue him. Growing up in the seedier parts of Manchester means that he knows how to look tough and not show that he is attracted to blokes. But despite his rather rough and tumble background he has a good job and a family that loves him. His living situation may be a bit crap, but so far everything else in his life is going good.

Then he shags Alex, a prince of the Netherlands–-not that he knows it at the time–-and while countless fairy tales are all for the lowly commoner and the studly prince falling in love, in real life things are a lot more complicated. And not just because George isn’t exactly fully out of the closet.

Except for a few bumps in the road, this was a very sweet and easy story. It was one that I happily spent an afternoon reading thru, and it certainly has made its way onto the reread pile. I have a real sweet spot for the Netherlands, and I loved that Alex was from there. Though we didn’t get to spend nearly as much time as I would have liked in the beautiful country. But that is ok, because the UK is always a great place to be (at least in fiction), and I love books set there.

There are not a lot of surprises in this book, but what it lacks in shock and awe, it makes up for with great characters and some damn lovely romance. Their original attraction was hot, but I also liked how they grew as a couple over time. George having to deal with coming out-–not only as gay, but as the lover of royalty-–was really well written. It wasn’t over-done, and there were no major scandals to deal with in this book, but the way they had to face what they wanted and if it was worth the effort was done well.

Plus, Alex’s friend was just great.

Overall I highly recommend this book when you need something to keep you company on a rainy day. Very much a comfort read.

I upped this from 4 stars because of the oh so perfect ending.

I was hesitant to read this because I'm not a fan of romances with 'royalty' but I was very pleasantly surprised. This was low angst and, for the most part, low on unnecessary drama.

What I liked best here were the likeable MCs. George in particular is pretty much the ideal romantic lead. He grew up poor in a large, rough family but somehow has managed to build himself a successful career. He lives in a crappy house with awful roommates so he can send money home to his mom. When he goes home he spends quality time visiting with his nan (don't you love a guy who's good to his grandma?) and playing with his many younger siblings who all adore him (of course). To add to that, in his spare time he plays rugby, works out and has the perfect body to go along with it. Alex obviously comes from a much different background. He's an architectural student who happens to be a prince and very privileged. But he's also remarkably down to earth. Actually his whole family was very unexpectedly kind and down to earth for, you know, royalty.

Another thing I enjoyed here was the chemistry between George and Alex. Their sexy times always had that special spark for me. But you know what else I liked? There was lots of time of just them becoming friends, getting to know each other, and meeting each others' families. Just real life stuff to start to build a relationship on. Ample snuggling time here too.

There were a couple of small things that bothered me. Alex's ex, who fortunately didn't appear for long, seemed over-the-top in his vileness. I also thought Alex and George, well especially Alex, acted out of character when the one 'misunderstanding' occurs.

Overall, though, a very enjoyable and low angst read with a lovely HEA.

There should have been some tension and drama with the set up -- foreign royalty openly gay and a lower class brawny boyfriend that is sort of out. But there was little of that. It was sweetness with a careful and thoughtful building of a relationship across socio-economic divides. That is great in real life but in my m/m fiction I expect a little drama and heat. It was a nice book. -- way too nice for me.

My first book from this author and I loved it!

This is one those stories that just pulled me in without any unnecessary drama. Just two guys from totally different walks of life that met one night and formed a bond. Two totally different families, but both of them supportive and loving.

Of course there were some mishaps, but every relationship has its stumbles. I love the way these two teased each other and they weren't talking they were doing unbelievably hot things!

Book 2 please!

This book was so sweet, but not too much were you found yourself feeling sweet overload.. It had the perfect amount and I absolutely loved these two characters George and Alex.

George and Alex first meet at a pub were they end up going home together and having a one night stand. When George finds out Alex is a Prince he is stunned. George grew up in a big home with eight children were both his parents worked to support their family.

Well a few months later they see each other again and from that point on it was on. This is not a insta love book which I loved because I felt the way there relationship slowly progresses was perfect. George is at first a little leery with Alex being a Prince and you could really understand why he would be with their different backgrounds. Alex coming from money, also a royal family and George growing up in a not so great neighbored with not as much money as Alex's family has.

You do get your misunderstandings and some angst mixed in with the sweet. But I felt the way everything went together made this book so good!

You also meet a lot of characters from family to friends. I can't say much more without giving away a lot of this book.

So I will leave this review with I really liked this book!

I would definitely recommend this book!
