This was another one of my "so glad I grabbed it" deals out of book bub! My only sadness is that I didn't grab it in print (and may still do so).
Author offered a nice variety of recipes in several courses, such as:
Soups Mains, including vegetarian and/or meatless Beans and grains Desserts Breakfasts
While some recipes have crossed over from other cooking for two books I have, most I haven't seen before.
I have not had the opportunity to try any of the recipes yet, so I can't judge cooking times except to say that they seem awfully long for the number of servings. They are the same as some of my recipes serving a larger amount of people. My other cooking for 2 slow cooker books normally go 6 hours and that is at the longest. Average is 3-4 hours.
What I loved most about this book was the nutritional information. Not just limited to light recipes, this helps me with weight loss and just having a general idea of how many calories I am putting into my body.
I’m a novice to slow cooking and wanted to dabble in it to simplify my life and reduce my dining out. However, most recipes make 6 or more servings and it’s just me. Thankfully, this book came across Bookbub at the perfect time.
I really appreciated the introductory chapters which explained how slow cooking works and gave suggestions for choosing the correct slow cooker for you. I also appreciate the nutritional information for each recipe. These are a huge help as I strive to manage type two diabetes with diet.
I’m now armed and ready to jump into the world of slow cooking? My first task - choosing a recipe to try, which will be hard because of all the delicious sounding choices.
Some good soup recipes in this one, in particular I liked the Tuscan bean soup. It was easy enough to adapt most recipes for the Insta pot and pressure cooking. As other reviewers have noted, these aren’t actually proportioned for two people. One pot of soup feeds me the whole week, probably at least four or five servings, but I do add extra vegetables, and anyway for me that’s a plus :-)
I waited a long time to receive this title from inter library loan and was disappointed when it finally arrived. The receipts were not appealing tome. So if quickly skimming the recipes is reading it I read it and found no inspiration.
My aunt bought this for me out of the blue and I'm so thankful she did! This is great for 1-2 person households with just enough for dinner and then lunch the next day I've tried 4 of the recipes and they were flavorful and easy! I like the tips at the beginning of the book esp how to make almost any stovetop recipe into a slow cooker Ingredients are what you would easily find in stores or most likely already have I'm hooked on my crockpot! Highly recommend!
***update - I have made about 10 of the recipes listed and if you are cooking for a guy or guys you might not have any leftovers for lunch the next day unless you add side salad/ veggies/ breads or double the recipe
Perfect for two person household or just when you want a smaller portion for crockpot cooking. There are a variety of recipes: broths, sauces & condiments; soups, stews and chili's; beef, lamb & pork; poultry; seafood; meatless meals (this would be a dinner); beans & grains; vegetables & sides; breakfasts; and desserts. The tips for cleaning your crockpot, measures, and substitutions will help anyone in the kitchen. I've added several recipes to my monthly rotation.
Good recipes. Flavorful - just shy of awesomely flavorful like Slow Cooker Revolution, but that often has a lot more prep work. Unique on trend recipes that are made with easily located ingredients if you don't already have them. That being said, easy prep time. Most recipes require a max of 15 minutes of prep work. Good portions. I often actually had enough for 3-4 meals.
Kindle Deal Tried five recipes. Four were just bland and disappointing, one was inedible. I'm a good cook, this was not user error. Cookbooks that advertise as being "for two" should not be full of recipes that serve 3-4. If we wanted leftovers, I'd get a regular cookbook.
