And Jayse, her best friend in the world, has been acting strange, but refuses to tell her what’s going on. On top of everything going on at home, more tagged paranormal creatures are popping up everywhere, and her grandfather might be linked to one of their deaths. But as Alana digs further into the case, she realizes she may have just put herself in danger and that her grandfather’s killer might now be coming after her. This story takes place over multiple parts. Each part is approximately 20,000 words.

I would describe this series as a cross between Harry Potter, and the Vampire Academy meets the Mortal Instruments. If you like any of those books, then this one will definitely pique your interests. I loved the second installment of the series. It picks up where the last one left off, and we get to know Alana a little better. She's a fantastic heroine, and a strong one especially when her life has been turned upside down so quickly. I wouldn't expect any less from Jessica. She has a knack for creating such versatile kick ass characters. Seriously, I love her!

Alana is sent home for her Grandfather's funeral, and although this is a sad time, it's also one where we see what Alana is capable of. It was nice to see her with her parents, and I remembered how much I adored them from their series. There are some strange things going down, and Alana's Gaurdian instincts seem to be coming out of the woodwork. We learn more about what is expected from her, and that nasty head mistress, or whatever she hates Alana, for some reason. She's like Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. Where is Snape when you need him? Alana continues keeping her grandfather's secret, and trying to uncover the mystery that surrounds it. A lot is packed into this installment, and I loved every minute of it.

I have one complaint, and that's the absence of Jax in part of the book. He had me at hello so to speak, and I see him playing a much bigger role in the series. I also like the chemistry he has with Alana, and I want it to blossom into a full-grown flower, sooner than later.

Again, Jessica nails this one. I want more, and more after that. She writes some amazing paranormal stories, and has rejuvenated my love for them in this series.

OMG, I don’t know if I can contain this giddiness inside of me. I’m not loving this Part1 and Part2, I need the whole shebang in one go! LOL
So Alana is still trying to figure out who killed her grandfather. All kinds of incriminating evidence is popping up and it is painting a really bad picture for such a highly respected man. The dagger everyone is looking for is being kept safe by her because no matter what happens or what evidence pops up, Alana knows her grandfather and trusts he had his reasons for doing what he did. THAT is loyalty.
Answers, she needs answers and the one person who can give it to her is refusing. Jax, her sexy new mentor is being really tight lipped with information. Alana’s grandmother has given her a ring that contains a truth serum. As soon as your flesh touches the jewel, you are compelled to tell all your secrets. So Alana accidently uses the ring too soon and doesn’t have a chance to ask the proper questions to Jax. Needless to say the ring works a little too well. Jax confesses….a lot! Hahaha
I can’t wait to get the next installment. Love this series already.

Alana is back home morning the death of her grandfather. She’s been keeping herself busy working out, worrying about the dagger, trying to find out what electi is, and not crying.

Something been going on with Jayse, his parents and himself have been trying to keep it from Alana; I can’t wait to find out what it is.

Alana’s grandmother gives her something to help find out what electi is and things don’t go completely as planned and she ends up getting more info than she expected.

“Death makes you think of all the things you wished you’d done and said yet can never say or do again.” Alana

Things with Jax have been a little different; I’m excited to see if it turns into a romance.

So many new questions to be answered anxiously awaiting Part 3.

Arc for honest review.

One again I was hooked from page one, this series is amazing and I'm left craving the next instalment.

The chemistry between Jax and Avery is palpable and I can't wait to see where Jessica goes with them.

I really can't wait to find out what's going on with Jayse too.

So many mysteries to look forward to and some great new characters, I'm also enjoying seeing all my favourites from the fallen star/ shattered promises series.

Loved this installment of the series. I really enjoy watching Alana grow. The storyline continues to suck me in. I cannot get enough Jax. And I wait anxiously with Alana to find out more about her Grandfathers case. And the zombies and their connection.

The worst part of this series: that each book is only about 100 pages. Then I have to wait a month for the next one. I don't whose idea this was, but I've added them to my s$&t list.

This series is so addictive.
I love it.
The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish they were longer. Give me more! (:
