Becoming a single mother was not part of the plan, but April will stop at nothing to protect her baby. She will even keep its existence secret from everyone, including the baby’s own father!
Sleeping with a man she barely knows is not like April at all, but that’s exactly what happened. They met at her best friend’s wedding. She was the maid of honor. He was the best man. Sparks flew like crazy. The night was so perfect, and she just knew it was going to be the start of something special.
How could she be so wrong about something that felt so right?
The next day he doesn’t call. When they run into one another in town, he is distant and rude. April must face reality. She was dead wrong about Rory Bern, and stupid for ever believing they’d shared anything more meaningful than a one night stand.
Then April finds out she is pregnant, and her world gets turned upside down.
When Rory’s bear takes a shine to April Lawson, he is sure it is a mistake. Shifters and humans don’t mix, and as king of the bear clan, he has no time to follow his heart.
Not wanting to lead her on, he decides the kindest course of action is to let her know clearly, with no confusion, that nothing can happen between them again.
But why can’t he get her out of his mind?
By the time he admits that he needs April in his life, it may be too late. Seth, the alpha of the neighboring wolf pack, has taken her captive as part of an evil plot to destroy the bears. How far will Rory go to protect his mate and his unborn child?
This standalone story includes a happily ever after and no cliffhangers!
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't overwhelmed with sex scenes and actually had a storyline.
April had a one night Stand with the "king" of the local Bear clan. It resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. However the King did not believe in mixing with Humans and judiciously avoided her ever sense their encounter.
April decided to keep it a secret and move away. Raise the baby on her own. However, things don't always go as planned.
The only reason I did not give this book a 5 was I felt the author rushed the confrontation with the Wolf Clan. I felt it could have been a little more exciting but fell a bit flat.
Talk about a whirlwind...Rory Bern and April sure do go through one. I disliked Rory for the majority of this story. They slept together once after her best friends wedding to the glorious hunks brother. It was amazing until he was gone. Later he acts like she is the plague. She can't understand. Therefore, she decides she never wants to have anything to do with Rory. Oh, no she discovers she is pregnant.
Rory is the Bear King. He is not happy with his brother for he has taken a human as a mate. When he decides to sleep with a human, he is stumped and the only way to protect himself and his title is to ignore the woman.
This is a great read. April goes to her best friend Rachel's wedding and meets Rachel's husband's (Jake) brother Rory. There's cake, dancing and throw in wine and booze and lots of sparks are flying and April and Rory take part in a one night stand.
Next time April sees Rory he ignores her. Hummm. Little does she know that Rory is the "king" of the wereBear clan and he hates humans. He thinks that by mating with them you are diluting the were gene pool. Guess what HIS BEAR does NOT agree and this leads to a great read.
I usually don't expect too much of free books on Amazon but this one was actually decent .. I finished it in one sitting and wasn't left wanting to strangle anyone .. which is a good sign ..
