Rate this book
When local teenager, Keira Shannon, and her father, business man Gerard Shannon, go missing, the people of Ballyderg town unite to search for them. Rumours of domestic violence, extramarital affairs, and criminal behaviour emerge. The crisis causes families and life-long friends to doubt each other. The only certainty left is that the town has been visited by evil. Or has it? Could it be the evil one has always lived among them, sharing history, laughter and tears? If so, who could it be?

Amazing Read

Loved this story, kept me guessing until last few pages who killer was.
True picture of families in typical Irish town/village.
When I wasn’t near my story I was thinking about the characters, anxious to get back to their lives.
Felt it was real like just up the road from me. Very real and convincing

A small community of people who live on the Hawthorn Estate in the rural Irish town of Ballyderg, each with their own dark secrets. Four girls have disappeared without trace in the past eighteen months. Maeve, Linda and Jan are three friends who must face a storm that is coming... Which will change each of their lives for ever.

Thicker than Water is a chilling psychological crime thriller with murder and mystery that keeps the reader on the edge of your seat in suspense from beginning to end. I had chills running down my spine as the story is sometimes told from the murders point of view, captivating a very dark and unhinged mind that tries to rationalise the despicable acts that they are carrying out.

This is an intriguing and tense read from author Mary O'Sullivan. The words of the story really make the reader feel the emotion of the dark atmosphere to the story. I was guessing who did it right up to the end. I could in no way predict what was going to happen next and that is what I like in a book. I like books too that play out in your minds-eye because the characters are so real and this is what you will find reading this book. This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

As someone who comes from a rural Irish community I am only too familiar with the idiosyncracies of the locals. You may think you know your neighbours but actually … do you? Author Mary O'Sullivan paints a dark picture of the goings on in the rural town of Ballyderg, a community where superficial friendships and relationships hide a whole raft of deep and unpleasant secrets. But that is all I'm going to say on the matter … you will have to read Thicker Than Water to discover more. And when you do, I defy you to put it down. I read the novel straight through to its gripping climax, enjoying the tight plotting and excellent characterisation. This book would make such an excellent TV series.

Believe me, when you read this novel, you will look at your friends and neighbours in a whole other light …
