First Time with the Gay Vampire

Rate this book
Eternal love or the final nail in the coffin...
Drew Carlton is a 25 year old athletic hunk who doesn't know how good-looking he really is. He's waited a long time for the special night when he enters Club Fangtasy, nervous about his first time with a man. Especially a man who also happens to be a vampire.

Ben Wilhelm won't reveal his age. (Isn't it rude to ask a vampire how old he is?) Ben's not looking for love; he's just looking for a warm place to sink his fangs for the night. When he sees the young stud across the dance floor, feelings are awakened deep within him that he hasn't experienced in over a century.

When the revelation of a shocking secret raises the stakes, will the dark desires and forbidden attraction between a vampire and a human lead to eternal love or the final nail in the coffin?

LUDICROUSLY & ATROCIULOUSLY BAD...✨
I also think I have done the impossible...... I HAVE FOUND AN NARRATOR I HATE AND IS WORSE THAN JOEL LESLIE!!!!

(And now I can confirm, that the 200+ sound effect version wasEVEN WORSE AND EVEN MORE HILARIOUS GAGAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA I AM DECEASED the narrator + these sound effects have caused my end because I have laughed until my lungs collapsed💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 it was like... really unwanted ASMR, I felt violated by some of the noises in this version)

And you may think, Chelsea why would you even read this?
Well that's easy...
Because I saw the cover, and the fact that it was 2 hours and KNEW I'd be in for a shockingly good time, and HOLY FUCK I WAS SO RIGHT.

This is so bad, that it actually made me cry from laughing. I was legitimately balling my eyes out.
And the best parts are like....... it's the most unexpected things that are possibly not to do with the title.

(Spoilers: but also like... don't even bother reading this, it's so bad it's barely even worth the laughs hahahahah)

Like...
Why is he using a headset to talk on his phone in the car?
Why does he have a Velcro wallet? (listening to the sounds version made this so much better)
Why is the book being mansplained to me?
Why are there chapters when the story just literally continues?
(like... there is like 16 chapters or something, but realistically, the whole book could have been 1 chapter because one chapter picked up in the same sentence as the last one ended...)
Why do you need to add like.... "even though they were spooning and fucking, he was still the top but from the side" Wtf is this ahahahahahhaahha

THE VSS WERE SO BADASS... (Vatican Secret Service... because vampire killing nuns because ✨why the fuck not✨)
THEY USED LASER TRACKED WOODEN BULLETS...
THEY HAD THE COOLEST SPY OUTFITS...
(it literally said she was undercover and ripped off her "oversized glasses and bushy wig", what a good disguise.)

I can't 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
It was so bad, as bad as the cover would have you believe...

I would feel like a genuinely bad person if I gave this book 5 stars. It's awful. Absolutely terrible. I loved every poorly written sentence of it. The best £2 I've ever spent. Hours of fun can from doing dramatic readings of this thing for my friends. It has some of the most unintentionally hilarious lines in it I've ever read.

This story opens with a young man, Drew Carlton, making a call to a female named Kate to tell her has been looking forward to this night for a long time, but is a bit scared. She reassures him he is up to the action and says things will go well, and wishes him luck. He gets out of his car and goes into Fangtas where he meets a charming man or rather vampire named Ben Wilheim and they hit it off immediately.

Then suddenly some people join them and they capture Ben and take him away. It turns out that Drew is an agent for the VCC, The Vatican Secret Service, which has as a goal the killing of all vampires, and Ben, of course is a vampire. So Drew has just delivered him into Kate's hands. She is a nun and a higher up member of the VCC.

So, the rest of the story is about how Drew and Ben find common ground and escape from the determined VCC agents and get away. Of course, I personally was routing for the Vampire and Drew's choice of being with him and enjoyed the story. I recommend this shortish Novella to anyone who enjoys gay literature with vampires thrown in like myself.

The writing felt a bit stilted and clunky. I listened to the book on audio and the narrator voice was nasally and monotonous so that didn't help the book.
I will say the spice level did help to make that part of the story a little better.

This book feels like the author had an interesting climax but didn’t feel like righting anything leading up to it. Super short. But interesting world building with the Vatican Secret Service hunting creatures. Vaguely smutty

Really!
Horrible writing.
If english is not your native language it might be readable...
If the book is for free you could read it...
The audiobook is even worse.

Goodness this was awful! Horrible writing, even though English is not my native language, I probably have a better use of of it than the one use on this book.

The audiobook is even worse!!!!! Horrible narrator, reminded me of the "Californians" on SNL. Half drunk, half Jersey Shore with a sprinkle of bad accent! Who knows!

Fated mates?

I liked this story, but the pacing of the plot was a bit odd. If Drew is going to betray everything he's been trained for in a sudden change of heart, I would expect there to be more of a reason. If he and Ben are fated mates, or have an instant, undeniable bond, then it would have been nice to explore that more than Drew wanting to see been one last time.
