Deadly Family Secrets Were Hidden Behind The Sin! Murder was a very rare crime in Sikeston, Missouri. But then, Leah Graves, the victim, was a very rare woman. She was the town everything: beauty, athlete, scholar, Cotton Bowl queen, spoiled brat, and royal bitch. Even her daddy, the richest, most powerful man in town couldn't control her. Leah knew at a young age how she affected men. She certainly had her father wrapped around her little finger and only laughed when he tried to warn her that someone as pretty as she was would cause members of the opposite sex to want to do things... sinful things.

Who killed Leah Graves? Incredibly intriguing murder mystery set in a Missouri small town. Great characters (Big Clay Thompson, Stump, Mike...), nasty details on the murdered woman, wrong suspects, great trial scene and fascinating psychology This is a perfect blue print for the genre. Couldn't put it down. The excellent cover did exactly fulfill its promise. Highly recommended!
Leah Graves is all things sexy, gorgeous, ruthless, bitchy......and dead.
Her murder rocks the town if Sikeston, Missouri. Taking place in 1978, the investigation points in a lot of "men's " direction.
You see, Leah Graves knew she was beautiful from a very young age and she used that beauty to get everything and every man she wanted.
When all the evidence points to her ex-husband....Dr. Ned Graves.
Ned has motive, money and hate. The perfect MO for murder, but he is adimant he is innocent.
Her daddy and his team think this case is sealed tight, case solved. The doctor will pay for his blood stained hands.
Only the evidence is too convenient for investigators. Evidence that Daddy's right hand man, Harley is always involved in finding.
Harley has a love past with Leah, a past that was stolen from him by the good doctor. Leah should have been his.
As the case heads into a private hearing, things begin to add up but not in the ways it should.
The sins that are unfolded in this who done it story is NOTHING you will see coming. I had my suspicion that the forbidden is involved but DAMN....this was BAD....oh so GOOD BAD!!!
Sidenote: There are a few racial slurs that I don't think needed to be a part of this book. They were tossed in at strange times that made for strange reading at points. These slurs did effect my rating."
Nipples missing, bite marks over the body, vibrator shoved inside her, the girl's father who owned the whole town but now didn't own his murdered daughter. The dead girl was stunningly gorgeous and had a power over all men. She had an Electra complex of wanting her father. The story got pretty ridiculous and is easily my least favorite in the zebra fruit series. However, it's zebra and it's late 70s cheesey trash and it's not an easy book to find so I still liked it.
When a rich man's daughter is savagely murdered the woman father tries to have her ex husband charger with her murder. The only problem is......he didn't do it. The character's were likeable but multi layered. Evidence was planted that muddied the waters An interesting who done it.
While it seemed like there were only a few people who could have been suspects, that big twist and reveal at almost the very end of the book, was SO GOOD. I did not see that coming. The courtroom sequence was very exciting. This was a page-turner. Highly recommended.
Based on a famous (for the area) unsolved murder case in the Bootheel of Missouri, this is a mostly fictionalized account of what likely happened that evening. Everyone back home was reading it!
This book hooked me from page one and held me captive right up to the very last page. The continuing suspense and action was what you look for in a good mystery novel. And even better was the fantastic and totally unexpected ending. A must read for lovers of a good mystery novel.
The Sin, is an interesting read. The Author brings out the characters personalities which makes each one interesting and as if you were in the conversation with them.
