Alpha shifter Tom longs for a normal life. Living under the rule of a tyrannical despot, he has been sneaking off into the nearby human town, seeking the comforts of the modern day world. Tom is quite a different wolf compared to the other alphas of the pack, preferring to ravish male omegas rather than breeding with females.
Gay college student Brody Nash is on a mission to complete his thesis and finally get his masters. Online, Tom has agreed to let him study his pack for a month. A pack still living in the old ways, a relic of a forgotten age. With quick haste, the young man drives off to North Dakota, seeking out his rugged, muscular guide.
It is mating season, and the two men cannot keep their hands off each other. Passion erupts, awakening something deep within Brody, causing his hidden inner wolf to come out with a mighty howl. A howl that the pack leader despises.
Howling Omega is a paranormal romance novella featuring gay werewolves, mpreg, pack dynamics, bonding and of course, smoking hot steam. It is a standalone with a HEA ending.
Growing up, Wolf believed there was a ghost in his attic. To this day, he still believes that ghost creeps out of the shadows from time to time. He wishes it would say hello.
Wolf's stories explore the complicated, sensual bonds between men. There are always happy endings just as there is always a dash of otherworldly delight.
I'm calling this a 3.5 rounded down because I think the plot was really origional and interesting, I'm just learning that Wolf Specter might not be the author for me.
Descriptions of the pack life and everything were really cool, so if you're looking for a romance with a plot and unique details, definitely pick this one up.
For me, I just didn't feel that there was enough to connect with the characters. They didn't feel *real* to me and I didn't feel any of their emotional experience. For example, one of the characters basically just comes out and tells the reader, "I started to realize I had deepening feelings for him two days ago." Well, okay, but that doesn't really make me feel anything. The quick POV switches broke the story flow up for me as well and felt unecessary. I hate, hate, hate when a POV switches mid-scene. The sexyness was good, but I don't tend to get too excited unless I really connenct with the characters, which I didn't.
Basically, I didn't love this book, but I would recomend it to the right person who has slightly different tastes and preferences than I do. I'm not giving up on Wolf Specter, but I will proceed with caution.
Different, but I liked it. I really like reading different types of books. Even ones who who not touch with a 10 foot pole. Awesome. Love Wolf Specters books.
Not bad, not great but a good story. I think Wolf Specter's books are unique. This was kinda lacking in some of the pulling me in emtionally, but I enjoyed the story.
