Twin tales of terror! In "Reapers," an Alien hive is invaded by a crew of extraterrestrials with a distinctly unusual agenda. Written by John Arcudi (BPRD, The Mask), illustrated by Simon Bisley (Lobo, Hellblazer). And the last run for a soon-to-be retiring smuggler becomes a fight for survival as a vengeful partner unleashes a singularly deadly "Cargo." Written by Dan Jolley (JSA: The Liberty Files, Obergeist), illustrated by John Nadeau (Star Wars, Secret Weapons).
John Arcudi has made a name for himself by scripting comics that manage to combine long-running subplots with impeccable characterization and action sequences, making for some of the most exciting and consistently good comics out today.
Reapers didn't make a lick of sense. It's just random panels of green skinned humanoid aliens fighting Xenomorphs for a few pages. Cargo was much better. It's about a drug smuggler who rolls over on his boss and gets trapped with an Alien. Good, quick story with good art.
The first story is about space Orcs who eat xenomorph eggs as alien balut (google it if you don't know what it is). It's a bunch of Heavy Metal-looking panels with no dialogue. Lazy story. The second one is about a smuggler who flips on his boss and steals cargo which is a bit more than he could handle, but manages. Slightly better.
There was literally no point let alone dialogue for this short story. Nothing made sense, just a bunch of random aliens attack alien-humanoids we were never introduced to. This should have never been published, super lazy work.
This one has to be the worst addition to the Aliens graphic novel series.
I read Reapers only as part of Aliens Omnibus volume 3. I have not read Cargo. Reapers is a very short story, only eight pages long, with no text or dialog at all - just Bisley's very unusual art. A bit hard to follow but the final panel makes it worthwhile.
