From the author of Doing It for Love (“The perfect blend of humor and sizzle.”—Rachel Harris) comes a hilarious and heartwarming rom-com about two people who are meant to be . . . even if they can’t quite seem to get it together.
Single again on Valentine’s Day, struggling actor Alec Tucker agrees to help out his longtime friend—and unrequited love—Theresa Jones by filling in as one of the bachelors for her company’s charity auction. Alec figures it couldn’t hurt to meet someone new. Still, working with Theresa reminds him of all the reasons he never got over her. So it feels a little bittersweet when, out of nowhere, a beautiful young street artist buys a date with him for a whopping four grand.
Little does he know, Theresa’s had a major change of heart. She’s crushed when someone else wins a date with Alec—but she isn’t going down without a fight. After a pep talk from her best friend, Theresa makes a desperate move that goes against her better judgment . . . and things only get crazier from there. But with Alec ready to move on and Theresa afraid she’s pushed him away for good, maybe a little crazy is exactly what they need—before they both miss their shot.

In the third book in the All About Love Series by Cassie Mae, we finally get the story of Theresa and Alec! To say I was a little excited about this book would be an understatement. I wanted this so badly, there was just something about these two that had me hooked from the first glimpse that there was something more going on.
I am slightly torn though. Because I loved this book – these characters, but....
The way the story was told was different, present with flashes into the past – in two parts. Alec’s story then Theresa’s story – I just felt like I missed out on so much of them together. By the time we get through part one, I was ready for the big moment and I was a little sad that I had to wait longer and wade through the scenes again from the alternative POV – although it lent a lot to the story and gave me the reasons why Theresa was the way she was. I just wanted Alec to have his HEA immediately. I was impatient.
However, I loved the past scenes. I loved seeing these two wade through their friendship, their attraction and I loved that Alec loved her so much that he couldn’t just cut her out of his life, even if it was torture.
Overall, this fell in the range of 4.5 Stars, just shy of that 5 because I felt like I didn’t get enough of the couple post realization. The buildup was fantastic, the writing was spot on, but I just wanted more time to enjoy them together.
Cassie Mae has never left me disappointed when it comes to delivering a love story that is packed with happy feels. I loved these two so much and hope that Rian will get a book so we can see what is going on with Jackson.
Crazy About Love was a sweet and entertaining read.
The characters were well developed, the story was well written and had me turning the pages. The All About Love series has been a good read, with enjoyable and fun characters that will entertain you with their love stories. Overall, Crazy About Love is a light, heartfelt, fun and a swoony read. I highly recommend Crazy About Love.
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for the advance copy
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Not only was this a fun story, I loved how the author told it, flipping back and forth between the past and present and splitting the book into two halves, one for each character's point of view. I loved Alec's devotion to Theresa and wanted him to get his happily ever after, and even though I started out being frustrated at Theresa, I ended up loving her story too. My full review will be up at my blog on June 10, 2016, a few days before the book's June 14 release.
** I received an advanced readers copy from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**
Crazy About Love is the third book in the All About Love series but can be read as a stand alone. I did have the opportunity to read the first two books and needless to say, I was excited to finally know Alec and Theresa's story. Unrequited love and friends to lovers always make for good reading.
The first half of this book was told from Alec's point of view, jumping between past and present. The second half of the book was Theresa's point of view, again jumping between past and present. Let me start off by saying that I love alternating points of view and stories that go back to help tell the story. Unfortunately I did not like it so much in this book. Because it told all of Alec's point of view first and then Theresa's, the reader had to sit through the present story twice. It wouldn't have been so bad except the present story was nowhere near as good as the past leading up to it. It would have worked so much better if the point of view alternated between chapters. I wouldn't have felt like I was re-reading the same story. Also, I found the Alec/Rian parts more than a little boring. The past story was definitely the highlight in this book for me.
As far as the characters went, I liked both Alec and Theresa although they weren't perfect. Alec was sweet and kind and generous and loyal and perhaps just slightly too perfect in a good guy kind of way. There were no dark edges or bad boy bits to him at all. Theresa was funny and loyal, confused and slightly messed up but it worked in the friendship that the two of them had.
Over all, this book delivered exactly what it intended. A fluffy and entertaining romance with some comical relief and a whole lot of sexual tension. All of the original characters from this series have now had their story so I'm not sure what will come next. Perhaps Rian will have her say? I'll be keeping an eye out for that.
Crazy About Love is a lighthearted friends to lovers romance. Technically speaking, Cassie Mae's writing was enjoyable, however this story did not work for me.
A major miss for me was the development of the lead characters, Alec and Theresa. Neither character had any discernible character traits that endeared them to me and their chemistry was mild. Many of their antics felt over dramatic and the humor read as juvenile and ineffective.
The past-present dual POV was overwhelming and this story could have benefitted from the past told in one POV and the present told in another, or just...some other way.
Overall, Crazy About Love was a little too cutesy and saccharine for this reader. I wouldn't recommend it.
3.5 stars Cute story about friends turned lovers. Theresa Jones and Alec Tucker have been friends for a long time. Alex is hard core in love with Theresa and lets her know a few times throughout their friendship. Theresa may not feel the same way. She doesn't want to ruin their friendship (and she has has issues from an ex). I gotta be honest, the first half of the book I hated Theresa. She seemed to be killing poor Alec. And then part 2 of the book is Theresa;s side and you see things a little more clearly.
5 stars -- Who's the luckiest beta reader in the whole world? Oh yeah, it's this girl....
I went into this book with absolutely no clue how this story was going to play out, but with high expectations after the teaser of Theresa and Alec in Doing It For Love. And I can honestly say that their love story blew me out of the water!! And a great deal of the credit for that goes to the way the story unfolded onto the pages, it was a stroke of genius! But I kind of loved having that be a surprise to me, so much to (I'm sure) your consternation, I'm not going to explain what I mean by that. Just know that I felt the format for the story was absolute perfection.
I can't get around saying that the story is told in both the present and a series of past flashbacks...it would just be too hard, so I'll let that cat out of the bag. And this was a key to making this story pure gold. While you're following the action in the present, you get to learn about their history as you go along...you get to see feelings develop and change, and it makes what's happening in the present feel more real and dire in some cases. I LOVED the story that's told in the present, but my heart was truly captured and forever enslaved to this couple in the past.
The romance is almost a little slowburning, but you really feel their feelings with them. And when we do get intimate scenes, holy wow...just seriously, holy wow. B/C you've been invited into their intimate bubble, you end up feeling every *single* moment with them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cassie Mae writes the most amazing kissing scenes, and that has extended into the steamy scenes. It only added to my unhealthy crush on Alec, b/c I felt as if he was kissing me...and more...*SIGH*
So now we get to the character portion -- and no one was more surprised than I to learn I have a new number one book boyfriend. I am in total and complete love! Alec is just EVERYTHING. He's shy and nervous and a bit insecure, but just GORGEOUS inside and out. I mean, I knew that he was someone special from his moments in Doing It, but I honestly had no idea how much he was going to capture my heart (and break it on occasion). I don't even think I could do him justice by describing him, but the way Cassie Mae portrays him is just GAH!!! I just want him for myself. I want to be his Theresa.
And so you would think I would hate Theresa for snagging my guy right?? But I LOVE HER!! How did that happen?? How in the world did Ms. Mae write a girl that just fits him so perfectly? Watching the two of them together...well I'll get back to that. Theresa was just everything I had loved from Doing It -- with this bold personality that hides a vulnerability I wasn't expecting. The things that make up her past and have shaped her into who she is -- I just wasn't expecting it. You really feel for the choices she's had to make in her life. And her best friendship with Liz is story telling gold. They feel so real, like I can imagine them together -- and it's not all sunshine and roses. But they made me laugh so much in this story, I can't even tell you...
So back to Alec and Theresa as a couple...I LOVED the playful nature of their friendship -- I could vividly imagine these two gorgeous individuals playing and laughing together. While there was some major heartbreak in the flashbacks, there was also a lot of lighthearted fun and closeness and understanding.
You're thrown right into the deep end from the start of the book, and I was immediately gripped from the first sentence. This book made me tear up, it made my heart clench, it made me laugh out loud, and it made me sigh in extreme giddiness. I'd have to go back and read them all again, but I'm feeling like this may be my new fave of the series. Though, truthfully they all have something completely different to offer. I'm going to miss these friends. Maybe I should start a petition for a surprise novella with all of them together....hey, it could happen!
I'm usually lucky enough to read Cassie Mae's books while she's in the process of writing them, but I did not have that opportunity with this book even though the main character borrowed my name ;) So, for the first time in a very long time, I was patiently waiting for release day along with everyone else. At that moment, I wasn't Cassie's critique partner or friend, I was just an eager fan.
On release day I purchased it, and since it was a busy day for me, I told myself I was only going to read a couple pages and then I got sucked into Alec and Theresa's world. For a day and a half every chance I had I was sneaking in pages, trying to get to the end. I fell in love with their story and not just because I'm a sucker for a good best friends turned lovers story, but because it had everything I love about a good book: characters that I care about and am rooting for, secondary characters that help create a realistic world, suspense of will they or won't they, and just damn good writing.
I loved the flashbacks and getting backstory of the characters. It helped showcase this growing attraction and bond that was so realistic and relatable. While most of the story takes place in a single night these parts revealed the slow, simmering build that got us to this point.
Being best friends with the opposite sex can be complicated and messy and this story is a perfect example of that. And I loved that it wasn't so cut and dry because in the real world it's not. There's so many layers to crossing that line and I loved how piece by piece we got to see them teetering on that line and occasionally jumping over it.
I also loved how we got to see both points of view of the night. Reading Theresa's part was fun because I got to think back to Alec's parts and piece the puzzle together. The layout of the story was different, but it was unique and fresh and the best way to tell this friends to lovers story.
Now I am dying for a Rian and Jackson story. Please make that happen!!!
I think this is the ninth book I’ve read by Cassie Mae. (Still working on the rest) This one is my favorite book in this series, and I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that I already know these characters from the previous books so I came in with a decent back story. I had feeling Theresa and Alec from the very beginnig, so this was just like really really good.
The thing I like about this story was that Cassie (Can I call you Cassie?) was able to keep the emotions poignant and elevated throughout the story. I didn’t get bored at all. This story takes place in one night (Valentines Day) in a dual POV. To be able to do a book in a the same setting is very difficult. I have read others that missed the mark. For her to be able to hold my interest was really inpressive to me.
I liked how she threw in the flashbacks breaking up the monotony of the setting. It also gave me a better idea of where Theresa was coming from because, in all honesty, I thought she was kind of a bitch in the beginning. When I was reading Alec’s POV, I thought she was kinda using him. Knowing that he loves her and still torturing him with the friend zone. It made me mad at her. But once I read her POV, I got a better idea of why she was holding him at arms length but not letting him go. Theresa, I forgive you and I gotta say you got some balls girl! I would not have been as open minded to some of the stuff you went through. Kudos to you for trying and for sticking it out.
Alec is a sweetheart. He is probably one of the sweetest male MC’s I’ve come across. And there has been some talk of him being a better book boyfriend than Wesley from Switched. I am here to throw my vote in on this. I’m sorry Alec but Wesley wins still. You can be the third best boyfriend.
Of Cassies Mae’s books, it goes Wesley from Switched, Eric from The Real Thing, then Alec from Crazy About Love. But you’re in the top three so you should be happy about that.
A huge thanks to Love Swept (via NetGalley) for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
OH MY GOSH. THIS BOOK. THIS FREAKING BOOK ❤️❤️❤️
Crazy About Love is the third installment in All About Love series and we finally meet Alec & Theresa. Both characters were also in the other books so it's nice to see their own story. In this book, we follow Alec & Theresa and their comical and endearing journey in finding out what they really mean for each other. Alec has been in love with Theresa for so long but she rejected him so many times, a guy can only handle so many rejections. He agreed to help her by filling in as one of the bachelors for their company's charity auction. A beautiful young street artist buys a date with him for 4 grand. Turns out, Theresa had a major change of heart. She's definitely heartbroken that her plan was botched - but she isn't going to back down without a fight. Told in two POVs, one for Alec's (Alex with a c) POV and the other for Theresa's. It's definitely funny finding out that both were very much connected.
This book is definitely easy to like. It has a story line that hooks you up (check). From the first chapter up to the last, I read it in one sitting, no joke. The characters were fun (check) and just generally awesome (check). The pacing was steady (check). My problem here, I guess, was the "open relationship" thing. I'm not sure it's resolved, and oh the easy ending. The ending was a bit rushed, in my opinion. Other than that, though, I really had no problem.
Side note: I'm pretty annoyed with the cover change.
First I just have to say I'm so annoyed this cover doesn't match the others in the series. Those were so cute and this one looks thrown together :/
Aside from that, it was nice to finally get Alec and Theresa's story in Crazy About Love after reading about them in Doing It for Love and No Interest in Love. Alec had pined for Theresa for years but finally settled for being just friends. But he's still there for her whenever she needs him, like when she's one male specimen short at her Valentine's Day auction. Theresa has finally realized her feelings for Alec and plans to take action, but someone else steals him away for the night before she has a chance. The way the story went from there was entertaining. I just wasn't a fan of the way it was told. I didn't mind it jumping between past and present, that was necessary, it was having only Alec's POV in the first half and Theresa's in the second. I needed both throughout to really be able to connect to the characters and their feelings. But overall, Crazy About Love was a really sweet, fluffy read that I enjoyed in one sitting.
I requested this book from Netgalley when I saw it because I enjoyed Cassie Mae’s Doing It For Love Novel and also because the author is well recommended by some of my friends.
I like how the story started. It’s sort of sweet and funny and I have I hope for the book because of that. I like reading male’s POV in romance novels. There’s just something about it that appeals to me. So yeah, I was hooked with the way the novel was introduced.
The story was good. The conflict was good too. To be honest, it’s the kind of story that I usually go for. I really like Alec. His character was well written that you can sympathize with him even if you don’t walk the same path. I like Rian too. I’d probably like Theresa too but her character didn’t appeal that much to me.
Storywise, the novel was really good. However, the going back and forth into timelines and then switching POVs threw me off. I was okay with the first flashback. But after that, I lost interest with the continuous jumping between the timelines. I just want to move on to what actually happened after that introductory chapter. That’s probably why Theresa didn’t appeal to me that much. I felt like there really is not much of a conflict in the story and the author just went around it.
I still like Alec though. And Rian. I hope Rian gets ger own story.
"Crazy About Love" is the third book in the All About Love series. Heads up, this can be read as a stand-alone. I was really excited to read this book because I freaking loved "Doing it for Love" which is the first book in the series. Now, all that being said, I thought "Crazy About Love" was a cute story but it wasn't really for me. Personally, I am not a fan of unrequited love stories and didn't take a liking to Theresa. I thought she should not have waited so much time. Therefore, it was pretty hard for me to root for her cause Alec was a really cool guy. While I did have some personal issue with the novel I do think others will like it. Fans of rom-com movies will take a liking towards the story because it plays out like a movie. Overall this was a cute story and I would recommend it for fans of chick-lit.
I received a free copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
This is the third book in Mae's All About Love series and IMO it is the very best. Theresa and Alec's story is finally told and they get their HEA. The book is unique in that we get the same story twice but in different POV's. Part one is Alec's story of one pivotal night and flashbacks to Theresa and Alec's history. Part two is literally the same story but from Theresa's POV.
It really worked for me. I already knew I like the characters from the previous books in the series. For those who are fans of the other books, we do get bits of those characters as well in both the past and present tense. My only fault in the book was that I would have loved to get more of their story once they were actually together. Perhaps there will be a wrap up book for all the couples...hint, hint.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unrequited love and friends to lovers are two of the most popular literary tropes for a reason, they just work. I've been waiting for Theresa & Alec's story since Doing it For Love! Cassie did a fantastic job of setting up this book, showing Alec's POV first, and then Theresa's POV in the second part. I really enjoyed walking through it with each of them. The only thing I might have done differently is to maybe add Alec's POV in the epilogue as well. Otherwise it was really good and I really enjoyed it.
A fun entertaining friends to lovers story. Alec and Theresa are an interesting pair. Alec has been in love with her for years but every time he tries to let her know how he feels something happens that has him making some excuse and retracting his declaration of love. When he finally decides it's time to move on and give up on his crush, Theresa suddenly realizes Alec is everything she's been looking for in a man. Theresa was a little hard to warm up to for me but the incredibly adorable Alec more than made up for her.
I think this is my favorite out of this series. I loved Alec in the other books and couldn't wait to read his story. I wasn't a fan of Theresa at first. I mean what kind of girl can not see a great guy like Alec right in front of their face??? I really enjoyed the set up of this story as well. I liked that the first half was Alec then you get to see it from Theresa's POV of in the second half. The best part is how they find each other in the end. Another great read by Cassie Mae!
A fun loving story that took me a little while to understand how the author was presenting it. First you have Alec Tucker a struggling actor who happens to be also madly in love with Theresa Jones, he actually told her in those words and because of an ex she tells him they can’t be anything but friends. He is frustrated and as he feels his life is going nowhere he decides he must move on. It is at this moment when Theresa who is working on an auction for Valentine’s Day needs one more guy because someone dropped out. She calls the only person who has always been there for her Alec. Her friend tells her to leave him alone and let him go since you do not want him and he is totally in love with you. Not knowing her plan when he arrives the bidding starts on the first man. When it is Alec turn to be on stage he gets into the music and the next thing you know his shirt is off and the bidding keeps going higher and higher. He cannot see you has won, but it is not the person he was hoping. It is an artist and when they go out on the town their date is filled with unexplained accidents. When you get to the second part of the story which is her part most of this is explained along with her version of what happened. Some of the parts are repeated, but the author does it in a way that still makes the story work. Overall I liked the characters, and though at first I did not like Theresa by the end my opinion had changed. So this is a good book and worth the read. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
This is a cute story, and has some fun scenes. The story is told in 2 parts, 1 part from Alec's POV and 1 part from Theresa's POV. Alec has been in love with Theresa for awhile now, she feels for Alec as well, but she has issues, so she pushes him away. This is one of the things I didn't like, I didn't really care for Theresa. I felt she jerked Alec around too much. Also, I can't believe she'd fall for her sort of ex-boyfriend's issues, and I don't like that she's totally fine sleeping around. I felt really bad for Alec. Alec is tired of his feelings being rejected, so he thinks maybe it's time to move on. Theresa asks Alec to help her out by being a bachelor at an auction. A famous female artist wins Alec at the auction. Alec and the artist go on a date, and Alec finds himself enjoying his time with her. Alec's POV is mainly his date with the artist, but there are also flashbacks to his relationship with Theresa. Theresa's POV is mainly about her realizing that she cares more for Alec than she thought, but what if she's already lost him to the artist. Alec's a nice guy, and I really liked him. He's a sweetie. All in all, I liked it, but didn't quite connect with the characters, and I didn't like how the story was laid out.
I honestly felt like there was just way too much going on here for me to really be able to get into it.
The first half of the book is told only from Alec's perspective and goes back and forth between the past and present. It was hard to get a read on Alec because since we were hearing the story only from him and he spent most of that time not with his lady-love. It made it hard to get a great sense of who he was or what their relationship was like because he was constantly down on himself. Well of course she doesn't want you, according to you, you kinda suck.
The second half was all in Theresa's perspective and helped balance out the book a little better because you finally got a more rounded view of who these two were. Having it jump back and forth so often was a little tiring though.
I liked their friendship though, I really felt that and once I got a decent idea of who they were, I was rooting for them but it took too long for me to get to that point.
Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
This was a really cute read (even if I did get mad as hell at Theresa for how she was treating Alec). A friends-to-lovers trope is always fun, because there is so much more connection between the characters. And when one is in love with the other? Woah buddy...get ready for an emotional ride. Theresa's plan to make a grand gesture goes wrong, because of course it does, and she ends up on a wild goose chase through Manhattan. I'm still not entirely sure I like Theresa, but maybe that's because we started with Alec's side of the story - I felt protective of him. I really liked the way they came together though...that was cute.
I need to go back to read about Landon and Liz, because their story seems cute - and I hope Cassie Mae gives us Rian's story.
Although this is officially the third book in the series, I read it first.
Like other readers have mentioned, I too was struggling a bit with the structure of the book, switching between timelines, and repeating much of the same plot from both points of view.
Technicalities aside, I think Alec is an excellent hero and fits in with the other heroes in Cassie Mae's stories I've already "met". I'm sad to say that I didn't like Theresa as much (not like some others of Cassie Mae's sheroes). At times I was wondering why Alec still put up with her.
Still, it was an entertaining story with a fitting HEA, and now I want to read the other books in the series, too.
Not Your Average Friend Zone is a great book! It has everything a romance book needs- realistic characters, great plot, and a nice mixture of humor and heart wrenching moments to get you in all the feels. It had just the right amount of spiciness for me in the love department. I also enjoyed that we got both Alec and Theresa's point of view during the events that happen so we can understand both sides of the story.
If I had a dollar for every time she talked about "saving her heart"... sheesh. This reminded me a lot of an episode of Saved by the Bell - good story idea but more cheese than I could handle.
