Les Miserables: Ultimate Fan Edition

Rate this book
Les Miserables is possibly the most remarkable work of fiction ever written. Each character is tested and forced in moments of crisis to ask, “Who am I?” Readers reflect on the same Do you live what you profess? What would it take to change your mind? Can people change? What is worth living for? What is worth dying for? I did not write this book. I simply love it, and wanted a version of it that I could fully enjoy every single time. When we carefully strip away the sections that do not enhance the plot or develop the characters, we are left with 252,000 words instead of the original 540,000. I do not claim this version to be complete, I claim it to be enjoyable.

After having tried to read an unabridged version of Les Miserables years ago, and getting bogged down about 1/4 of the way in, this version was fairly enjoyable.

I doubt Hugo will ever be one of my favorite authors (he's no Dumas), but I could see forcing a high-schooler to read at least large parts of the book.

On a "technical" note, this version is riddled with typos and punctuation and formatting errors. Since I was reading on a Kindle, I submitted a large number of them for review, but there were times when I just literally couldn't even. If that sort of thing interferes with your ability to enjoy a book...find a different version.
